after 6 months it is rare to see a mosquito. Looking in the trap catch bin there very few mozzies to see compared to small moths so while I am happy with the situation I am still not 100% sure of the reason. The unit is fairly unobtrusive with just a small constant fan drawing insects into the trap bin either attracted by a led light or a scent pod, so a power point is required. I am putting the unit away for winter but will certainly have it out next spring.

better than nothing, but minimal success in a dent in a mosquito free environment. The exterminator is hung from the patio roof about 2m off the ground over my bbq about 3-4 m from the table where I sit (its the only place I can find with a powerpoint). I also bought and inserted the Octenol booster + another hanging one I bought from Bunnings for extra measure. I have since read lots of different "scientific" google articles, some that say UV light and Tio2 and even Octenol laced traps are snakeoil so I was a bit post-purchase cynical as to whether I had wasted my money. After 2 weeks now I have definitely noticed a progressively increasingly massive difference in mosquito hassles. Result - where at 7am reading the paper I would be constantly buzzed by mozzies flying around (even with a coil lit), for example this morning I have been buzzed by just a couple over the past 2 hours. I just emptied the catch contents of my trap onto a white sheet of paper, spread out and sifted through . Yes there is lots of byproduct catch, mostly small moths but surprisingly quite clearly an ENORMOUS number of mosquitos (literally in the hundreds). Yes I do feel a bit sad for the bycatch, but the difference in mosquitos has been quite astonishing. Despite being originally cynical I am sold, in my experience this thing actually works.

Save your money and the planet – I have stopped using this trap because it catches hundreds of small insects to every one mosquito. These innocent insects are vital as a food source to birds and lizards, essential for pollination and for sustaining our ecosystem. Please remove stagnating water from around your home and make a home-made mosquito trap instead. Your wallet and our planet will be grateful. Show details

Works Well But Can Cost a Bit – Product works really well, however the light only lasts a few months so it actually costs a bit when you have to buy so many globes. I would suggest buying the globes elsewhere, which is what I'm about to do the research for myself. It is very easy to use so no issues there. Show details

Stopped working after a year – Seemed to work for a year or so then the light fitting stopped working. At $30 for a bulb from Pestrol it was an expensive mistake to realise it wasn't the bulb that was faulty but the fitting. Now I'm being asked to spend more money returning it to Pestrol for a fix. It Just Works – We live on one of the most mosquito infested areas in Victoria, French Island. Most people that have ever been to French Island remember one thing, Mosquitos! I hope that it keeps on working after the warranty period expires which is the next major hurdle to a successful review! The only kick in the gut was that Pestrol placed this item on sale only a week after our purchase and I was in direct contact with their sales team, no hint of the sale occurring!

'Weatherproof' is a misleading claim – Bought the Terminator model specifically because it claimed to be 'Weatherproof'. Very disappointed to find the user manual states 'Place in a location protected from rain and strong wind' and 'it is very important to avoid direct sunlight'. This is not weatherproof! I have no suitable position in my garden that is protected from rain, wind and sun, so will not be able to use it. Show details

Made a HUGE difference – Using this now for 4 months and it made a lot of difference for us. If before we would be eaten alive every time were at the back yard, now - we can actually spend time outside and enjoy it. I can also see a lot of mosquitoes in the trap. Show reply

Fan stops working – The first was returned after 8 days when the fan stopped working. The second one lasted three days and the fan stopped working. Will not be replacing that one. It catches lots of bugs so is good in that regard. Show details

Absolutely Wonderful!!! – I love this product. Hate using chemicals, and after chatting to these guys I decided to give it a try. cought hips of mozzies – Have been using this trap for a year during the summer months and find that it works bloody good. There is nothing you can really use outside effectively, sprays dont last long and if its slightly windy, it does nothing. This trap appears to be good quality and collect a lot of mosquitoes, including moth and other flying things.  Show reply

Great product! – I have an average size back yard, about 80sqm and have this trap based in the corner, as far away from where we normally are. I've added the little sachets they have provided, was told that this wold boost it up. there would be a huge amount of mosquitoes there. And its been significantly reduced where we normally entertain. Very pleased with the product.

This pestrol mozi cather is the biggest rubbish i have ever seen – we bought 4 units of mozi catcher and 2 units of snake repellent about 6 weeks ago. We used 2 of the mozi catchers, never caught a mosquito. Both units stopped working including one of them light stopped working. these things are useless and do nothing, big waste of money. We still have 2 of the mozi catchers brand new in the box willing to give them to anyone for nothing.

I’ve got my backyard back!!! – I would prefer it works immediately when you turn it on; but sadly not the case. The guys at Pestrol said it is designed to kill the breeding cycle. Mosquito free back yard!!’ – I’ve used a couple of products from Pestrol, exterminator and possum away. Both products work brilliantly. After using exterminator in the back yard, after about 3 weeks there was a huge reduction in the mosquitoes. It’s a great little product and does exactly what it says.
