I'll start with one thing. Seeing these are now getting up there in kms. If you can't do your own mechanicals.... probably don't buy one. I purchased one last week with known issues. Peugeot quoted $1500 to replace a broken throttle body which is a common problem. I fixed it with epoxy putty for $18. The timing belt is due. Old owner was… Read more

quoted $1000. I'll do it myself for $300. The window regulators are made out of French cheese. But parts are cheap on ebay. Now with that outn of the way...... I LOVE THIS CAR. It handles and drives like a dream. The 2.0 hdi and aisin transmission are known to be very reliable. It's very good on fuel. With mixed city and hwy about 6.5L 100. Ive seen 5.5 on highway driving. The seats are supet comfy. The stereo is great even in the base model.

Fingers crossed it serves me well.

Fantastic car that saved my life! – Bought the car new in 2013 and kept it until a total write-off in a head-on collision where I was doing 100kph and the other driver, who was asleep at the wheel, estimated to be doing 120kph. The crash sliced off the front driver's side including the front wheel, suspension and the outer skin of my door. Finished up in a ditch with a broken rib… Read more

and a few bruises but not a scratch. I had the car almost 8 years and did 130,000km. Mainly personal commuting but, for five years I used it for work as well, carrying tools and equipment. The only problem I had was the window winders. After having the first three replaced under warranty I replaced the fourth one myself with a $17 kit, including postage from the UK, rather than pay Peugeot $650! Easy to do and only takes 30 minutes. Other than that, the car was faultless. Extremely comfortable, wonderful acceleration and passing power for such a sturdy, spacious wagon. Loads of room in the back. It was very quiet and economical. About 7 l/100k around town but would do 1300km on a tank on a long journey. Extremely good sound system could be tailored to suit just the driver or all passengers. I also liked the way the SatNav would switch over to its own inertial guidance computer if the satellite signal was lost such as in a tunnel or among very tall buildings. Easily the best car I have ever had.

Lots of problems – This car has now 103,000 kms on it in the early days of ownership we had each electric window mechanism break , a return to Peugeot dealer each time , replaced under warranty , but annoyed that if they knew that there was a problem why not just replace all four units at the same time as apparently it was to do with the plastic that was used in the… Read more

construction. Fuel float mechanism has failed diagnosis and replacement for a sender unit $780.00 Australian. Headlight design is very poor with tops being exposed to sunlight continuously has caused plastic to start showing signs of discolor . Oil leak from motor will be repaired at major service next week , heavens only knows how much that will be on top of other problems. Roof has been repainted at our own cost due to top coat failing . Bluetooth connectivity drops out. Peugeot dropped the ball with this one badly , have had Peugeot's for many years and noticed things starting to go down hill with the 407 series. Would not recommend this vehicle as very poor value for money . We will be looking more closely at future purchases, probably not Peugeot.

Nice Car – I've had this car (Peugeot 508 GT 3013) for 2 months now and I like it. The 2.2L Diesel feels like a strong engine whilst returning an average of 850km to a tank mixed driving, (average speed 45kmh). Taking on a long trip soon (1000km+ run) so looking forward to seeing how economical it can be - maybe it'll return 5L/100km? Interior is good,… Read more ·  3

comfortable and well fitted, leather is high quality. Handling is good thanks to double wishbone suspension. Highway drive is great, feels weighty and solid/safe. ICE system is pretty average as it won't show me a connected bluetooth device track details. Idle noise is higher than my last car (mondeo) but driving at highway speeds it's quiet (really nice). Auto is good. Styling is good. Overall quality and workmanship is good. Has what might be known as a model wide design fault that stops heated seats from working - apparently expensive to fix. **Doesn't have** Auto Cruise Control impact warning protection and Lane depart warnings. This Peugeot GT offers a superior drive to the Mondeo, which it seems to compete with in European markets. At this early stage of ownership I'm happy with the car.

Great car – I've had this car for over a year now, bought second hand with about 50000km's on the clock. exterior, will turn heads - nice european styling.

Things I'm not so happy with:

- Seems to have a high service cost, but not frequent ($600 p/a)

- Very, very firm ride - the norm for most new cars these days, but I'm used to driving a Volvo XC70 which is like driving on a cloud compared to the 508. Also, while road noise isn't as loud as other cars, it's still not as quiet as the ride you get in a Volvo.

Brilliant value – I purchased one of the last of the GT sedans with the 2.2 diesel motor (2014-15) for the extra power. a delight, economical to use, good boot space, lots of features, love the genuine leather upholstery smell .. and it looks good!

I suspect that most Peugeot owners benefit from a wee bit of an anti French bias in the English language motoring press. We get to buy a great car for for a good price.

No need to mention the lack of cabin storage (what were they thinking?!) There are work around solutions with online accessories for storage pockets. I do however think the seats are a little firm compared to the lounge chair comfort of the previous 407s.

If you haven't experienced a GT or Allure, do it. Then compare the value with it's peers.

Peugeot 508 sedan – Beautiful to drive, running costs are amazing!! It has a 1.6lt turbo engine that uses the same amount of fuel if not less then a Mazda 3 sp 23 2.3 litre. this is the first European car I’ve had & im totally sold! The only thing I could fault is the lack of space in the console.. so small! As is the glove box.  Show details

Not perfect but so very very good – The GT spec offers acceptable performance but it’s real strength is just how well it performs as an easy to live with every-day prospect. Quieter on the highway than many of the German similar size sedans, and way better ride. GT spec gives lots of options, which unfortunately occupy storage space. For this reason (and probably more so in RHD configuration) storage is awful.  Show details

Great car but as all European cars, very troublesome – Very nice car, with great leather interior and dashboard but as with all European cars you must be prepared for some trouble and expect to pay a bit for repairs. Great economy, great to drive but have had some issues – I have really enjoyed the very efficient fuel economy, (currently 5.5lts/100km). window motors, the service centre tell me it's from over use, but they are hardly ever used, (the window drops into the door $600 repair) this has happened 4 times, * keys not being detected (now have to carry both keys to get it to lock/unlock/start), * every time I get new tyres, wheel nut covers are lost because they don't fit tight, * within 12 months of purchase had to have the rear door seals replaced due to gross fading/colour change (covered under warranty) and now my lion on the bonnet is falling apart. Going in for it's 140,000 km service this week, but I think I should have traded in by now. Overall I have enjoyed the drive and comfort of the 508, (my first European vehicle) but I'll try others.

Luxurious car – Bought this second-hand but it had excellent and complete service records. A great safe family wagon – Traded in our 407 wagon after 5 years of trouble free motoring, to a 508 hdi wagon, can't believe how quiet it is, better fuel economy and more interior room. A great highway cruiser with plenty of power when you need it. compared to the Ford Mondeo which is the main rival to the 508 which I have for a work car the Peugeot has a more luxurious feel to it { the Mondeo still a good car}  Show details

feeling when you turn fast. I have 2 kids,13 and 6 year old. Interior feeling just like 406, big front and back. Great car! – We bought our 508 in 2012 after leasing a 308 Feline SW and driving it around Europe for 8 weeks. I had loved Peugeots for many years, so after leasing the 308 it was decided that we now had to own one. We decided on the 508 for its additional room as we do a lot of long distance driving. We have not been disappointed, it performs well and the… Read more

acceleration is great, except for an initial hesitation at take off - which can be alarming if you need to get away in a hurry! The car is very quiet running, this is great for me as I wear hearing aids, which I often need to mute in other cars.

There is great legroom throughout, there should be as it IS a big car, it has more room than my 2004 Commodore! The boot is a great size and really allows me to pack a lot of stuff!

I love the economy, especially on the open highways, it is amazing to watch the range (DTE) continually increase as we set off on a long run. Maintenance cost can be high, but this is NOT a cheap Asian import!

I have one big beef and that is the GPS! No matter what setting I use it insists on taking me off the M2/M7 motorways when I am driving Canberra to Newcastle and return! It also at times gives strange instructions, like making a turn to return to a motorway I have NOT left. The most annoying issue though is the GPS giving the instruction to "bear right or left" when it means "continue straight" (like my cheap Navman does) the intention of the instruction actually means "don't make a turn at this intersection"! Even that is inconsistent. The GPS regularly announces "in 2.2 km at the next intersection, bear right"! That in itself is not a problem but what about the intersection I just passing, what is the difference! There have also been instances of being given totally wrong and dangerous instructions on motorways, again being told to "bear right" when actually should be done is making an exit left onto an overpass and NOT turn across the motorway!

I have written to Peugeot Australia about these problems, but they just referred me back to the dealer.

Great Car High Maintenance Cost (Do not buy) see my updates in the description – Love the car for its design, inclusions, size, etc, etc. Hate the fact that brakes need replacing every 20k km. developing but everytime I serviced they updated software but no map updates. The sound system is crappy compared to even the cheap Hyundai i30. You expect more from a $50k car while there is a lot of internal space I am very disappointed with the most used storage i.e glove compartment is literally a glove compartment anything bigger will not fit. Cup holders are crappy and if a cup leaks it spills all over the console. Cannot open boot after a rain as water spills into the boot from the boot lid. Peugeot service centers are all very bad in Queensland. Tried them all. Zupps forgot to put back the engine cover after battery replacement, did not check the brake pads resulting me having to replace the rotors as well. Prestige forgot to put the oil cap on proper. I tightened it when I got home and checked to see I had everything.

2014 June - 40,000km ish - Battery failure lead to car being towed, computer malfunction and reporgram - done under warranty after much hassle ... they said battery not covered and only replaced because the service by dealer was a week before it failed... if it wasn't replaced under warranty it could have been over $2000 (battery was almost $300 for genuine)

2016 April - 80,000km Front brake pads have to be replaced for the 2nd time and the rotors are worn and buckled.. cost $600

2016 May - 84,000km - Rear brake pads replaced again - cost $350

2016 October - 87000km Rear Left door electric window motor plastic piece broke ... big noise while on the motorway and the glass just opened ... replacement cost for part only is $700 from dealer ... There are replacement kits for the plastic piece on ebay for around $30 ... the plastic is not designed for aussie climate and is bound to fail ... another few years and I will have to fix all 4 doors

2017 December ... had to remove the centre console and refit/glue to fix constant rattling

2017 December ... had to refit all 4 door inside and put new plastic fixings as the original parts became hard and the door panels started rattling. also had to insulate the doors as it gradually became louder over the 4 years from the Aussie heat destroying the insulation properties. This would not happen in a Toyota ...

2017 January ... 90500km ... Rear right door electric window motor plastic broke just like the left side two months ago ... poor quality plastics inside ($700 from dealer or ebay for $30 and fix on my own)

2017 July ... Front Passenger door electric window motor plastic broke

2017 August ... 100,000 Service ... very small oil leak from pan gasket, Front suspension bump stops deteriorated and suspension weeping, rear suspension replaced ($700 each + labour)

2017 December ... AC does not cool ... found out that the radiator is blocked and needs a new one ... I have a 2005 Mitsubishi Magna with minimal service and the AC is still running although the compressor is noisy

2019 Faulty CD player ... screen does not boot but CD player sounds like searching for a CD ... an online search indicates this is a not rare occurence with the 508 ... dealer quote was the price of a 2nd hand corolla

I still love the car however will never buy french again ... Don't recommend to new buyers unless getting rid after warranty expires. Because I can fix most things I was lucky but if it was someone who relied on a dealer or specialist mechanic then this would have been atleast an additional $20K~30k in repairs after warranty ended.

Do not buy peugeot as they have the same parts inside.

Peugeot 508 GT - A Winner on the Highway – I bought this sedan after the first owner had used for 1.5 years and done 22000km. 2/3 of my use is driving on freeways. For this purpose it is proving to be an absolute winner. 3 things I like most about the car, 1) Fuel consumption of this car on the highway is astonishing. I fill the tank in Melbourne, drive all the way to Sydney and… Read more ·  3

then do town running for a week and still have about 20% left before I fill diesel for the return trip. This is with a 2.2L turbo diesel engine that is quite powerful and very adequate for highway duties.

2) Car is very spacious and quite comfortable even for adults sitting behind. We do 2 couple weekend trips and this is very comfortable for all. Boot space is great too and helps when picking up people from the airport.

3) This is subjective but both the exterior and interior design are very nice. Mine is black with very nice leather seats and 2 exhausts at the back. This provides a premium feeling and it is very good value for the price I paid.

Other bits I like are xenon headlamps, head up display and the electronic parking brakes. 19 inch wheels are great too although it will be expensive when it comes to tyre replacement

Servicing is once a year or 20000k and costs $330 for the first 3.

The suspension may not be the softest but it does not bother me particularly on the highway. GT has wishbone suspension in the front.

Only negative for me is that this car was not fitted with navigation originally. Peugeot does not have an after market solution and none of the third party providers in Australia offer one either. Only options are to import from China or UK and get it fitted locally. This though is not a critical issue as my Tomtom GO600 perhaps is better than what Peugeot offers as a factory option. As many people have commented cup holders in this car are not in the best position. I though avoid anything other than water in such a nice interior and keep the water bottle in the door pocket.

Overall, this car is proving great for our usage and as many people say about Peugeot, service the car on time and only use only the best fuel. Fuel consumption, space, design No navigation option

dealers Allpike peugot and they had to escalate it to France. Its been two weeks and still no diagnosis. Given me an inferior car to drive in the meantime. Called Peugeot Australia that were quick to tell me that they have no provision for loan cars and it is up to the dealer whether they will even give you one. This is on a two month old car! Don't expect any support from head office as their policy is that they don't do loan cars. I have no idea what is wrong with the car and how long before I will have it back. Neither does France apparently.

I have spoken to others about Peugot as I manage a fleet and they have reported similar problems with service from Peugeot, especially the time it takes. Beware of buying one - they are a nice car but highly prone to be troublesome and remember that the dealer is on their own with little support from the few staff in head office. Comfortable, well equipped and stylish Sta Nav is next to useless and out of date - I have put my Garmin in. Cup holders poor. Storage minimal for such a big car.

options. On-board USB ports, charger ports, etc. Lovely range of automated "toys" - wipers, lights, air-conditioning. Outdoor proximity sensors brilliant for tight places. Parking sensors (on both sides) are a dream. Would give it four and a half stars in a flash but a couple of annoying things for the manufacturer to fix before it's up for five stars. Almost everything. My favourite thing is the comfort, the road holding, the in-built safety, the driver toys. Most of all I love the outstanding economy. Two return trips Newcastle-Gold Coast without refilling the 70L diesel tank until the last 50-100km. Outstanding economy on the highway and around town at the speed limit. 1. The sat-nav is not accurate enough and Peugeot chose an appalling third party company to manage/oversee it. 2. The glove box is next to useless. Barely anything "normal" fits in it. 3. The drink/cup holders are a joke. They only fit things with the same diameter as a standard soft-drink can. Also, one cannot manage the sat-nav, stereo or telephony screen while cans of drink are in the holders as the view of the screen is blocked.

It has an electric automatic parking brake that comes on automatically when the car is switched off and put in park. It then stays on when the car is started and put into gear, only releasing when the accelerator is pushed.

The car I purchased had the factory fitted sat nav (without the HUD) and it gives a better interface for the operation of the car's entertainment and Bluetooth phone system. I would recommend it to anyone buying this car.

The steering is handled by an electric connection which does leave some vagueness after years of hydraulic power steering but is easy to get to grips with and once used to it gives good feedback to where the front wheels want you to go. Under steer is there but only just when pushing hard into a tight corner such as a roundabout.

Ride quality of the suspension is supple without being too soft but would recommend upping the tyre pressures to say 36-38 psi as it then gives a slightly more connected feel to the tyres (Michelin) and with that a elevated confidence that it is connected to the road properly. (maybe that is just my preference).

Seating is comfortable and elevated enough for even shorter drivers (I am only 5ft6) and finding the best driving position is a relative easy procedure. Front seating is good and supportive and even come with warmers (not used yet as hasn't been cold yet) and with the flat bottom to the steering wheel provide easy ingress and egress from the vehicle. I would recommend buying the sill plate protectors as the sills are quite wide and will scuff over time.

Rear seat drivers i.e. kids and mother in-laws will love the slightly elevated seating position and the privacy tinting to the rear windows and with the full glass roof (which is bonded to the cars structure and does not open like the Hyundai I40 wagons) can be entertained by watching the stars slip by at night.or the rain streaming across the roof on rainy days. It also give a new perspective to car washes. They even get control over their air con level as the car is fitted with true 4 way climate control and will go as low a 14 degs and as high as 29 degs on all 4 outlets.

Load carrying is excellent with a large cargo area which is square sided and makes it easy to load without leaving small areas to allow load to move or have wasted space. The side pockets behind the wheel arches are enclosed and will hold (tested) 2x 12 pack of eggs or 2x 2lt bottles of milk so avoiding the old split milk or cracked eggs on returning home. The drivers side one even provides a great place to put gloves for when refueling the car as no one likes diesel on their hands.

By the way the refueling wont be often as I have refueled the car twice when around 1/2 a tank and the first time I was able to get 660 Km's from 49 liters with mostly highway driving and then 440+ Km's for 39 liters of around town driving. The trip computer showed at one stage a combined distance traveled and left to go of 1320 Km's. (266 Km's traveled and 1160 Km's to empty in tank, Not bad from a 74 liter tank).

The vehicle is easy to wash and keep clean but don't let the factory supplied window wash fluid stay on the paint work for a long time as it does leave difficult to remove water spots on the dark paintwork.

Final remarks,

Do yourself a favor and take one for a test drive. The level of fit and finish is high and the level of sound proofing is of a high standard as well. Good Torque and great fuel economy. Easy to refuel. Really need to sit in the car in the driveway to get accustom to the steering wheel controls.
