Good grief...how bad can an iron be? This iron never gets hot. The product literatures states you do not need temperature adjustment, you simply need to apply more pressure. Whose brilliant idea was that at Philips? They should be find another job. Even if I use both hands and the weight of my upper body, it still does not work, especially… Read more

It works by Magic – Philips will have you believe this iron will also do your dishes. It works by magic and magic alone. The Optimal Temp feature is a complete mystery and is completely inadequate for iron linens in particular. Worst appliance purchase ever. Does not Iron. Junk. DO NOT BUY – Doesn't Iron. Waste of perfectly good resources to create. Never gets hot enough to iron anything. Cord is too short. The only feature true to its word is that it won't burn anything... well yes that's because it never heats up to a useful temperature. DO NOT BUY. Philips should recall and refund this product to everyone who had the bad luck to purchase it. Show details

Infuriating – I very much regret purchasing this iron. My Tefal iron served me well for 12 years before finally going, and I had to replace it at short notice meaning I couldn't research as thoroughly as I normally would before buying something new. Boy did I pay for it. Pros - it's moderately heavy so you don't have to grind it into the fabric, though this… Read more

would be a con to someone with osteoarthritic issues. The flow of steam is consistent. The aesthetic is interesting.

Cons - it takes forever to get going. You need to wait for the Ready light to stop flashing before using the iron, which can take literal minutes. Then if it's left unattended for seemingly moments, it powers down, and you need to wait again. I've never felt bossed around by an appliance before, but here we are. The design is difficult to work with, specifically dark plastic against a black background with bronze fill indicators. I find myself having to turn the room light on even during the day to see where the waterline is. The water reservoir cover only opens to the right and the water level indicators are only printed on the left, so left-handed people will need to use their non-dominant hand to fill the iron. As other people have mentioned, not being able to set a temperature means some fabrics still look unironed afterwards. If you were mostly just ironing thin cotton fabrics like business shirts then this would be ok, but for polo shirts, linen garments, anything that needs a bit more oomph, you either need to make several passes or just make peace with things still being slightly rumpled.

I held off on posting a review until I'd used the iron for a couple of months in case I was comparing it to my old Tefal to harshly, but I don't believe that's the case. I would not recommend this product.

Unsatisfied – Despite reading some bad reviews for this iron I still bought the iron. What a mistake. I wanted to try this iron for the auto set temperature and that it doesn’t burn your clothes. using the steam setting for extra heat. What is the point of the steam setting if it is just going to leak. The only reason to use the steam settings is that the iron doesn’t heat enough to iron creases on cotton material. The weight is ok. Not the best iron I will have to live with this purchase because the customer service at Good Guys wasn’t great so I am not going back for another round. I don’t recommend this product doesn’t do the job properly adds extra time to your ironing.

Absolute Rubbish – The iron looks impressive, modern, colour and design. However, so did the titanic. This iron is the worst appliance I have ever owned. I don't iron alot so when I plugged the appliance in for the first time it was well and truly outside the change of mind timeframe. The temp adjustment is nonsense. Wished I had never bought this iron – This is the worst iron I have ever had in 50 years of ironing. Paid $139 for the iron, was told it’s the best, the temperature adjusts to the fabric. My clothes look like I haven’t taken the time to iron them- regardless of using the steam button or spray. My quick fix Kmart iron lasted for 3 years and was better than this. Very disappointed!

GREAT IRON EXCEPT FOR ONE THING!!! – my last Philips iron lasted 8 years & was very good but died - I rushed to the store & picked the best one. didnt realise until I got home that the eater container is very dark (my last was clear) & you cannot see the water level & I often over fill it so I have to use a torch to see the level - whoever designed this at Philips should be fired immediately!!! Show details ·  1

Expensive lead weight with multiple issues – Put up with this Philips iron for 3 years, should have returned it the day after I bought it but persevered as I only iron once a month and it was expensive ($159). constant refilling and design of dark plastic water well made it hard to read level. The short cord meant plugging it to an extension cord. Occasionally wouldn’t heat up after first plugging in with standby light flashing, would have to unplug and plug in again. It died last night with an awful burning wiring smell. My last iron (not Philips) lasted a good 10 years and was fraction of cost, wont buy another Philips.

Its temperature is supposed to adjust to fabric but does not give a good press especially to cotton – This new technology is supposed tp adjust the temperature to different fabrics. Spits water – I took back my blue Perfect Care iron because it stopped steaming when the water tank was half full. I returned it, refunded and upgraded to the Perfect Care Power Life but it has started spitting water when on steam setting. It is ok on the eco setting. I am disappointed. I was going to return this one for refund also but i see all Philips irons seem to be discontinued. I would have also liked a longer cord. What is going on with Philips irons? Show details

A total waste of money – Doesn't heat enough to get garments crease free, especially linen and cottons and some synthetics. The design makes it clumsy to use, too big, and the… Read more

Extremely disappointed – I purchased my Perfect Care Steam Iron one month ago and I am so disappointed. This is my first steam only iron and I had high expectations that it would work perfectly. Horrible iron – The iron has no heat control & does not heat up enough, therefore I need to work much harder to get good results. Worst iron I have ever owned – Bought this iron today and couldn't wait to use it. I read the instructions and fired her up. It is the first non temperature dial iron I have owned. I started off with some hankies, and it didn't seem hot enough - it could not get the wrinkles out. Then I tried steaming only, and ironing 5, 6 times over. It failed. Disappointed – This iron does not get hot enough. It leaks water onto the clothes. It is 3 months old as does not need to be descaled/calcium cleaned. Not fit for purpose – This iron's technology is automatic where it somehow is suppose to sense the fabric it is ironing. How this can be practical has shown in the performance of the iron....it can't. It cannot heat up high enough for shirts, jeans, tea towels and makes for a very ordinary job. There is a 'flick switch' which indicates to the user that it will enable… Read more

Overpriced and leaves water on clothes – Not worth the high price. Does the job, but so do other cheaper irons that have a manual temperature control. But mostly, it is so annoying that it regularly leaves spots of water on the clothes. Also does an ordinary job of ironing linen and other materials that need a high temperature to remove creases. Show details

Good Iron but cord is too short 1.9m – Good iron with auto-fabric sensor so you can't physically set the temperature (there is no control for temperature setting). disadvantage is the short 1.9m cord. basically you have to be right next to the electrical outlet and be using an extension cord. most other iron products have 3 meter length cords and the 1 meter really makes a difference in this case. Awesome Steam Generation – Awesome Iron unit and steam generation. Works Really Well – This iron has no temperature control, which is very unnerving when you use it for the first time. That is, the normal dial where it goes from silks/delicates all the way up to cotton/linen does not exist. But the weird thing is that it works well for all fabrics. You just turn the iron on, place it over the fabric, and away you go. It does not… Read more

suddenly melt rayon or polyester, it's just the right heat. And for cotton pants or jeans, it's piping hot and the shot of steam is excellent.

Easy to fill, it's not too heavy when filled with water, and glides easily over clothes.

I did try out my previous iron the other day and realised why I stopped using it - it's just to fiddly to get the temperature setting right and it burns fabric and/or doesn't iron creases out fully.

Give it a go, if it doesn't work as claimed you can always take it back for a refund.

great, although this does mean it uses water quickly. I agree with a previous reviewer that it is also a little hard to see how much water is actually left in the tank because of the dark colour of the iron. to use and irons well. I especially love the auto off feature so I don't have to worry if I accidentally leave it on. It uses up water quickly so I have to refill the water tank more frequently than other irons I have owned. The only slight negative is that the cord is too short but I can use an extension cord to combat this. As well, the water cup should probably be bigger given that this is a thirsty iron when set to auto. Other than that, highly recommend.
