terrible company – Bad quality build, would not recommend. using the cheapest material. like the drain for the shower all rusted haven't been 4 years since built. The sales person were with us promised us everything for the design then he left when the place was built and because the design was done in person, the drawing wasn't reflecting of our discussion. Unresolved structural defect – We built 2 houses through Planbuild affirming our satisfaction with the end product at the time. However, we sold our first house end of 2019 / early 2020. We had to drop the sale price by $10K as the building inspection identified a serious defect in the roof tiles and `major plasterboard sheet detachment noted. The glue has failed, and the… Read more
ceiling sheeting is partially detached`.
The 2nd (investment property) house was occupied in 2011. Photo attached shows crack in the ceiling based on a structural defect. Planbuild fixed the ceiling in 2016 and September 2017. I have emails to confirm the 2017 fix.
In 2018 the same crack reappeared – a confirmation it is a structural error and the fixes done by Planbuild prior were cosmetic only.
In 2018, we contacted Planbuild, who advised that because the warranty of 6 years 6 months has expired, it will not be fixed. His response to the real estate report we forwarded to him was that it is a `cosmetic defect, non-structural` fault. Disappointingly Planbuild did not offer any support or even a willingness to do an inspection to verify this response. We have emails to confirm this.
The crack reappeared again and again to our and tenant’s frustration. Because it is a structural error, our several attempts to get this fixed were fruitless and a waste of money. Several tradies and builders suggested we contact our builders.
As such we are making a final attempt requesting Planbuild to assist us in fixing it. We are looking at selling the house soon. To sell it as a Planbuild house, we need Planbuild to fix this to meet the building standards. We accept we will have to contribute financially.
We have not received a response since 18/07/21. We are kindly asking Planbuild to make their tradesmen available to fix the ceiling. We are aware we will have to pay for it but, it needs to be fixed by Planbuild. As explained, other tradesmen and builders do not want to work on this issue and recommended it is fixed by the builder. We are once again urgently asking your assistance. The house needs to be fixed within the month to be advertise in September.
Ok for Investment build – Plan builds price was one of the cheapest and their office location was near the area im building. which was the reason I chose them But If I new I was getting a rough house at the end I would of seriously had to consider quality over price. The amount of defects was absolutely crazy, ive ended up with a paint job like a Dalmatian dog, damaged… Read more
storm water pipes which has caused floating. I found two damaged pipes at handover which they replaced but didn't see the main damaged pipe as it was 500mm under soil. the Guys who was doing the hand over was hiding defects from me. Mine was a custom build, I struggled with the draftsman's designs, very impractical concepts they came up with. I would redesign their drawing which would come back completely different. final got there after after a few weeks. Feel free to contact me if you'd like to know about the other issues. I have loads of photos. Over 6 months have past and the defects list still hasn't been completed. Im on a main road so paid 9k for acoustic ratings. neighbours only paid 5.5k.The latch on the master Brm was faulty, 5 months of hearing traffic every night until it was fixed. There was a reason the window providers wouldn't come out to fix the latch but I want mention this on here. There where a few headaches with the retaining wall also, simple issues which them as builder should of resolved as the builder but instead me as the owner had to rectify. I felt PlanBuild would only complete easy work to a standard so it just meets the building code instead of discussing with the owner to completing a task. Its ok if the owner is fit an able to complete the remainder of the task but id feel sorry for any elderly clients.
Very happy with our build! – We would highly recommend PlanBuild! We just finished building our house with them and had a great experience. Their options and inclusions are great value for money. The build process was quick with a high quality end product. They provided great service and excellent communication throughout, with Cassie (our CSO/Colour consultant) and Karla (finance manager) keeping us up to date throughout the build process. The best new build experience one could wish for – We purchased the land in August last year and then proceeded through design and build, seamlessly moving in by end of April. We experienced excellent customer care with expert design and construction from start to finish. Planbuild supported us to find the land from our very first visit to a show house, and subsequently treated us to the best… Read more
attention from all concerned. With special thanks to Maria and Sarah, we have found the experience both exciting and satisfying. The finished product is stunning and ticks all the boxes we had wished for.
Made life easy – I can’t speak highly enough about Planbuild. From start to finish, Planbuild have made the building process pain free and an enjoyable experience. They delivered a high quality service and product with great communication throughout the process. My CSO Cassie was extremely helpful and always willing to offer her expertise and advice. tile colours down to the colour of my fence, Cassie was always available and willing to assist. I certainly wouldn’t hesitate to build through Planbuild again in the future.
Planbuild homes – Planbuild built us a beautiful home. There were some delays in fixing up some issues after we moved in which should have been addressed much quicker, but we are very happy with the end result. Show details · 2
Basudha – We love our new home build by Planbuild Homes. Moved into our new home in June 2016. We are happy that our house was handover ahead of time. We had couple of issues but it was solved on time. It is been 3 years on and we still love it. Site Supervisor Glen and office staff were very cooperative and very professional. We thank Planbuild homes and happy to build again. Basudha Show details · 1
Great builder to deal with – My husband and myself went with Planbuild to build our first house. Planbuild made the process very easy. We’re always able to assist with any questions or concerns we had. Planbuild updated us throughout the build. We had no issues with our finished house. Couldn’t highly recommend them enough. Beautiful house on budget – My wife and I have just completed building our home with Planbuild. We had been speaking with two other builders prior to choosing Planbuild and we saw red flags with those others regarding costings and soil tests. We then went to Planbuild with a vision for a Custom modern Hamptons style home. We met with Niki and explained what we wanted and… Read more · 1
how we wanted our home to look. The design they came back to us exactly what we were looking for. After soil tests and once again spending time with Niki working through the colour selections our quote came back within budget and we proceeded with our build.
From the office we were looked after by Sarah during the course of our build and onsite by Dewi, throughout the entire build they were both very communicative and nothing was ever too much trouble for me to ask questions or take a peek inside our house during construction.
The initial plans were so close to what we wanted we only changed one minor thing through the build which once again Sarah and Dewi were more than happy to make the change even though it created a bit of work.
The quality of the workmanship has really impressed me, especially the tiling and finish to our cabinetry are a real standout.
Our home was handed over to us 4 weeks ahead of schedule to allow us to be in before christmas and more importantly the build did not cost one cent more than my initial quoted price.
I enjoyed this build so much if I didn't love the house I just moved into so much I would start again with Planbuild tomorrow.
Nothing but disappointment and headaches – I would give this company a negative star if I could. Our build was fraught with issues right from the start. A site supervisor that was stretched too thin and couldn't satisfactorily supervise our build. We had gas bottles installed on the wrong side of the house, shower niches that were the wrong height, NBN and power boxes that were supposed to… Read more
be recessed that weren't, the incorrect flooring installed in our pantry, poor tiling work and poor external brickwork. Our supervisor would check our house plans on his small mobile phone and wondered how he missed things. We eventually had to take action with QBCC to get our feature brickwork replaced. Only when we lodged this complaint did they admit that there was something wrong with the bricks. Prior to this, they ignored our requests for the brickwork to be reviewed and believed that it was satisfactory and in our heads. The Contracts Manager at the time was extremely rude and arrogant. An absolute A-hole to deal with. Office staff were relatively friendly but lacked communication and knowledge of the build. We completed our build in May 2017 and we are STILL waiting to get our list of 12-month maintenance issues sorted. We built nearly TWO YEARS ago. They attempted to do this late last year and sent in painters and a maintenance manager to oversee it. In the end, they were asked to leave the property because of their rudeness, disrespect and poor workmanship (they created more damage than they fixed). We were told to expect a new crew to come out in Jan this year (2019) and to date (late Feb 2019) we've not heard a peep from the builder. Planbuild has a very high staff turnover rate so every time we try to follow up with our issues, it's like starting back at square one. Poor communication. Absolutely no follow-up. May seem like value for money but wouldn't recommend them at all. Nothing but disappointment and headaches.
An truly enjoyable experience - its not often you can say that about building a new home! – My wife and I went to visit a Planbuild Homes display after initially electing to build with another builder. We were disheartened as the other builder's price keep going up and up from our initial discussions. Many things we thought or were told were included in the price were in fact add-ons and the overall price became too much. From the… Read more
first moment we walked into the Planbuild display and met Maria we had a sense that this might be the right builder for us. Maria was polite, not at all pushy, and very knowledgeable. She listened to our needs and helped us find the right design for our family, and constructed a quote to include everything we wanted within our price range.
Next we visited the Kedron office and met with Niki for a contract signing. Again, the positive feelings and experience continued as Niki was extremely helpful and professional. The Kedron office feels modern and professional, without being so big that you just feel like a number.
Our next face-to-face contact with Planbuild was at our colour appointment with Cassie, and it was at this time we knew we had made the right choice. Cassie has been our point of contact since that time and her commitment and dedication to us has been nothing short of outstanding. We wanted this home to be our 'forever home', and as such we have been very particular with what we wanted and expected. Cassie seemed to genuinely understand that. She has been very responsive to our needs, and when we had any concerns Cassie was able to resolve them quickly and effortlessly. Cassie was such a large part of our build process and I genuinely believe our experience would not have been as positive without Cassie's influence. Thank you for your efforts Cassie, it is genuinely appreciated.
Special mention also to our site manager Jacob who was also fantastic. Very easy going but extremely efficient and diligent. Nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Jacob; which is refreshing in this industry. We have built before so we know that when building a new home there are always going to be little things throughout the process, but with Jacob's open communication and understanding we were able to get the end product we wanted.
Overall, my impression of Planbuild is very positive. Wonderful people, a great product, and the right price. Planbuild have definitely delivered for us and we couldn't be happier. As such, I have been telling everyone who will listen of our great building experience with Planbuild Homes.
It has been my pleasure to write this review.
Great experience with building our first home – We are first time builders and it can be very daunting! Sam and Rob was so helpful and knowledgeable, we had a budget to stick to and we knew what we wanted. When they showed me the plans I was so impressed with the facade and it wasn’t any additional like other builders. Our colour appointment with Niki went really well she knew what she was… Read more
talking about as we’ve told her it will be an investment property eventually so we only upgraded where needed.
As this is our first build Sarah at Planbuild was amazing as I had lots of questions and also changes after the colour appointment. She was very patient and went over and above to help me settle my nerves.
Contract signing is tomorrow so we are very excited to get this build underway!

Know better, choose better.
We choose another builder – We only use them to do a soil test and land survey. Because we found the land with a sewer line crossing and we can't build over the sewer line. So we didn't go ahead with them. Show details

Wonderful First Build and Home Experience – We are first time home owners and built with Plan Build, the whole process from initial contact was supportive, helpful and friendly. have been the ease of the whole process as communication was friendly and very constant, the time frame was great and our end product is exactly the home we were wanting to the best standard. Excellent value!
Great experience from start to finish, and beyond – We were initially drawn to Planbuild because their home designs suited our lifestyle and needs better than any others we’d seen on the market. We were also impressed with the finish of their display homes. The ideas, knowledge, patience and lack of pressure we received when discussing plans was also a draw card for us, and this attitude continued… Read more
even as they drafted some modifications to the designs to better suit our family needs/wants (they drafted several versions as we regularly changed our minds). We found this comforting when making such a huge decision. We have never built or renovated before, but took the plunge and build two homes (Ascot 2900 and Ascot 3325), side by side, at the same time in Wavell Heights after subdividing our property (as first time "developers"). Deciding the final design, colour selection and actually signing the contract caused us a little angst as they were such big decisions, but on the whole, we found the entire building experience to be relatively stress free. The build itself was a smooth process, and our site manager was great to deal with. Any issues during the build, as well as the odd issue post-handover, were resolved quickly, without fuss, and to our satisfaction. Handover occurred at least a few weeks before the anticipated practical completion dates too. Both homes were finished to a high standard/quality, something all our visitors have commented on (we are living in the Ascot 3325). We were also able to put the neighbouring home we built (Ascot 2900) under contract within a week of it being on the market which I think is testament to the design and finish. We found all members of the Planbuild team we dealt with along the process to have been knowledgeable, friendly, professional, and prompt with their communications. If the opportunity arises, we wouldn’t hesitate to build with Planbuild Homes again.
Good experience overall – Built a modified Austin with PlanBuild on Brisbane south. Handing over the home this week. Overall a good experience with them. Our home was finished to high standards. You can feel that they used quality trades, not just going cheap. Our block has a narrow frontage (less than 9meters in width), they still managed to squeeze a home with double… Read more
garage and front entry onto the block. PlanBuild’s pricing was actually higher than the other quotes we’ve got but we proceeded with them hoping to achieve a good result.
From the get go, the sale’s staff Julien was very knowledgeable and really invested a lot of time (including a lot of after hour appointments) on our project before we even committed. He discussed different options and made sure we have the right floorplan to accommodate most of the items on our wishlist. This was one of the main reasons I went with them.
The planning stage took a bit longer (2 months) than our neigbour’s project. Being a custom design, this was expected. But a quicker response would be better. Once the slab went down, the house went up pretty quickly.
A couple of hiccups were smoothed out by the director Andrew. Andrew was very approachable and solution focused. He made sure those issues were addressed so things can move forward.
Another thing I was really pleased with was I didn’t feel rushed during our Practical Completion Inspection with the building supervisor Jacob and he is knowledgeable being a builder himself.
I would use them again for my next project. I’ll share my experience with their after sale service and maintenance in 6 months time.
Hope this helps.
Too long in hte planning and execution but first class final product – Delays is getting our house through planning in Wooloowin were un-acceptably long. Building time pretty much to plan until the end, which was a shame really. BUT the house is beautifully finished. Fittings are to a high standard, and the house was genuinely turn key. Zero maintenance issues after 6 months, but the building manager visited anyway. We would build with them again.
Good Experience – Built an Epernay in the Northwest of Brisbane and have been living there 12 months. First time building new for us and overall a very happy experience. Sales staff were very knowledgeable and helpful. Picked a design and made some changes - a positive was the extent the builder allowed modifications to design and interior selections, importantly… Read more
at very reasonable costs. Contract prep seemed slow and communication was inconsistent, however this was likely related to them being pretty busy, and the final contract was more than satisfactory in terms of flexibility, value and cost.
Building time was 5 months - slightly longer than pitched to us but it went up quicker than the other dozen houses under construction in the area - so pretty happy. Friendly and responsive site supervisors - but we had to initiate all communications.
A number of issues, ranging from minor to significant, were identified during construction and after handover. Planbuild effectively addressed all issues in a timely manner. This, together with the high quality of the construction and finishings, were very much appreciated and the reason why we would happily recommend Planbuild. I have had painter friends tell me that the tiling, paint job and finishings on our place is better than what they saw in the showhomes. Design and selection flexibility, reasonable cost, high quality of workmanship Communications and contract prep timeframe could be improved
