We’re very happy with our power diverters. Upon needing post-installation assistance, the follow-up service was timely and professional. Dan was only too happy to explain the situation and advise a course of action, as well as providing a site visit. Show details

I have been with the power diverter company. They have always been helpful and have saved from the system saving the hot water heating. The logic is great and the smarts works out to maximise the diverting if the solar via the hot water. Duane Show details
I thought I would wait awhile after getting this Power Diverter installed before writing a review to make sure it would perform the way I expected. It has been nearly two months since installation . The reason I was looking at a Power diverter was that after recently having put another 4 kw of panels on the roof (previously I had put 4 kw on in… Read more
around 2010)so now a total about 8 kw and a 15 Kw GoodWe battery system on , I was still finding my electricity bill was about 99% to Hot water usage at off peak rates . It accounted for $70 a month NOT including the daily service charge which is about $34/ month. This was in the winter time in Victoria and the evacuated tubes that I have for Hot water are not really effective in the winter months as a stand alone system. They are great most other seasons in the year. I needed to reduce my power usage in winter and seeing I generate a lot of energy that gets sent back to the grid for about 1 cent/Kw I needed to use that excess electricity to heat my hot water system which is the old style with heating element but still works good despite its age . I started to do my homework on what was around that could help me and after evaluating a few competing products on the market and reviews this Power Diverter made in South Australia by Daniel Lawes and have been using it for nearly two months now, I believe its the best power Diverter on the market and is a no brainer in my opinion for the system I have . I was lucky enough to have Daniel install it personally for me and what a genuine ,great guy he is. I feel have hit the energy jackpot. The Power diverter only diverts power to the hot water system after it fills up the battery storage . Any usage in the home gets priority use and if there is still excess, the excess gets shunted to heat the hot water. I now have an energy usage bill of about $1.50 a month that seem to be due to a very small amount energy I use in the morning that is not drawn from the battery and I`m not sure why its not .The rest is daily charge which can be offset by getting a high rate of Fit for the first 8 or 10 Kw fed back to the grid. I`m still sorting out who will be my new supplier. Once I change my supplier , my total monthly bill which is really the daily service charge will get reduced to about $15 or less after the odd concession. So any one who has solar panels ( you don't have to have any batteries to make use of this ) that are feeding excess energy back to the grid its much cheaper to use that energy for heating things like hot water as I do . The Power diverter is very functional and will heat other areas within the home. eg In floor heating .Check it out and talk to Daniel he is genuinely a great guy and the product is awesome . (Ps . I didn't get anything to write this. I don`t do a lot of reviews, but occasionally something comes up and people need to know about how good this particular Power Diverter is .) Thanks Daniel for such a great product. Pete T

Only The Begining – This product is doing its job perfectly well and more. Young Dan Lawes the company owner has gone above and beyond to incorporate my ensuite slab heating with this unit as well as my hot water. I asked the question if it could be done. Dan took on the challenge with my electrician and has achieved the ultimate solar heating solution. Customer… Read more
service is outstanding. So when the hot water reaches temperature and switches off, the Power Diverter automatically sends any excess solar to my ensuite slab element which is controlled by a wall thermostat.
In fact it's that good, I have just ordered two more Power Diverters to control the rest of the slab heating which consists of four more elements, two large, two small. I have increased my solar output to 20kw and do not want to waste 1 watt going back to the grid.
If you have slab heating or any other electrical power use and want solar to energise it, give Power Diverter a call. I'm not getting any kick backs here, it's just a great product to send excess power to dedicated heating circuits. I haven't switched on my slab heating for 20 years because of the cost but now I can put some life back into those elements with this product. Excited to see how it performs over winter. I will update this review in August with the results.
3 Phase Solar Power Diverter – I bought the 3X model solar powerdiverter, which is recommended for 3 phase homes. This product around June 2024 was the only model I could find in the Australian market to meet my 3 phase metering requirements. The fact that it was Australian designed and built was also a big plus for reliability considerations. I also bought the wireless sensor,… Read more · 1
which provides 15 minute data readouts and live data readouts. I found the wireless sensor quite informative and interesting to understand our household usage. This was the first install by my solar electrician installer of the Powerdiverter brand, where instructions from Dan were very valuable to ensure the install with two electronic boxes (Model 3X powerdiverter and Wireless Sensor) were correctly installed. When I was looking for other powerdiverter solutions, I found it difficult to get answers to my questions, prior to making a purchase. When dealing with Dan, it was like having your best friend on the phone or email taking the time to talk you through any product questions, your install and answer any other questions or concerns one might have either prior to purchase or during install. I did not know Dan prior to my search for a suitable 3 phase solar power diverter for my home. Dan also helped me with the software install and login, and even helped with setting up, when I was not sure how to stop our Off Peak hot water coming on during the night. We have 16kW solar panels on our roof, located in Sydney. Therefore, hot water is all heated by the Powerdiverter taking anywhere from 3 hours on a sunny day to 9 hours on a cloudy day in Nov for a 315L hot water tank with 5 people. I can only highly recommend the product and the service Dan provided.

Does exactly what it says on the tin! – Have had the power diverter for twenty months now and it’s doing exactly what Daniel said it would - we’ve only turned it on overnight for three hours on three occasions, after a few rainy days, and have never needed to use to boost function - have a large off peak hot water tank and we’ve never run out of hot water. pleasure to deal with and the local electrician was tidy and efficient. I would most definitely recommend this product.
Power Diverter water heater – Non existent customer service after installation by their electrician. Faulty from the start, no instructions! Lots of LEDs flashing, no idea what's happening. Turn it off and on, seems okay for a while, then goes weird again. Total waste of money. No refund as they don't respond! Not at all happy. Show details

I have had the Power Diverter installed for approx 5 months on my hot water service and as winter approaches it is proving it’s value. Dan from Powerdiverter is excellent at providing purchase, installation and commissioning support. I was guided by Dan to install the electrical components in advance of changeover. That made it possible to remove the old gas appliance, replace with electric HWS, complete plumbing and final electrical hook-up all within a day, meaning that I had hot water again by the evening. The Powerdiverter app works well, it shows household power import ,export and power diverted to the hot water over 24hrs ( my 3phase solar inverter app only provides data when the sun is up ). The Power Diverter app also shows water tank temperature and allows the option to boost from the mains if desired, but I have not needed to yet. While on holiday I have remotely turned the unit off to maximize power export while there was no hot water demand for several weeks, and turn it on again to ensure that a full tank of hot water was available before coming home.
Very pleased with reliability and cost savings are accruing as expected. The unit will run without internet connection to maintain hot water temperature.
I recommend this product for 3ph applications. I know that single phase diverters cannot optimse power saving on 3 phase systems and so was very pleased that this 3 phase system is available. The 3 phase metering is installed at the power meter box and the 3x power Diverter unit at the water tank approx 30 meters away. I live in Bathurst which has a reputation for very cold winters and was advised by heat pump suppliers not to install a heat pump unit given the local winter conditions . The Power Diverter is a simple and elegant solution if you have excess solar given the low export tariffs and also export limits imposed by the power distributor as is my case.
Poor & Inconsistent Customer Service – Although this device works well now I would not recommend it, although when I was looking there were limited options that worked with a 3-phase system. expected since June 2024. Big efforts were made to resolve issues but the overall customer service is poor & very inconsistent. Sometimes responses have been quick and helpful but there have been long periods of no response and sometimes none at all. Commitments have not been met. Sometimes, there has been no communication about how issues were resolved. The product is working well now and I expect my hot water heating will use close to 100% of solar power that would otherwise have been exported. Previously we were using about 5 kWh per day to heat water. The tool (web site) used for monitoring and remote control is good – but it’s not 100% correct and I still have unanswered questions. The electrician spent 8 hours on the installation which increased my cost (& therefore payback) by about 35% above what I expected.
Positive PowerDiverter Experience – I purchased an “All New 2024 Powerdiverter 3X” in April 2024 – this decision was primarily based on a favourable review of this diverter on the SolarQuotes website. I live in the NSW Illawarra region and I had difficulty finding an electrician willing to install it (I asked Dan but he couldn't/wouldn't advise of an experienced installer in the… Read more
Wollongong area). When I was finally able to contract an electrician it took him over 4 hours, and several calls to Dan, to resolve what appeared to be “known issues” with older homes and wiring – the electricians bill has blown out my predicted ROI for the device! I am happy to advise the diverter appears to be working satisfactorily since installation. You become more familiar with the diverter after using it for some time, and I have now acquired a better understanding of it. With this experience a number of questions have arisen. Unfortunately I have found it impossible to contact Dad by email or phone – all correspondence just goes unanswered. It is extremely frustrating not being able to contact the company – is Dan just a one man band?, as there has never been any mention of even a secretary. If it takes a bad review to get Dan’s attention then this is it. Unhappy customer Rigby
I have now had 8 months experience using the PowerDiverter and it is time to update my previous unsatisfied comments. The PowerDiverter certainly does what it claims – I have no qualms about recommending the product. I did experience a component failure in early November, and Dan was quite prompt in replacing the unit under warranty, and also took the opportunity to correct an initial wiring error. Talking to Dan when he is on-site demonstrates he is a knowledgeable and competent engineer who is passionate about solar in general and his device in particular. The PowerDiverter is an innovative and smart device, well engineered and built to a high standard. Dan can still sometimes be a bit elusive to contact, but he is committed to supporting his product and is constantly thinking of ideas how to improve it further.

Great product and service – I have had this wifi connected model for a while now and really like how it works and gives you full transparency on power flow and the source. Good Product. Told it is an issue with my hotwater service. Yes the one that the element and thermostat was replaced 6 months ago in. Units obviously have some form of design/ componant issue in them causing these problems. Great Product using Solar Export to save you $$$$ – 7 adults means a lot of hot water. 13.3 kW of Solar but yet still paying $1500 in SA for controlled load powered electric storage hot water. an abundance of solar export for which we get $0.05 per kWh we needed to run smarter.
PowerDiverter was what we were looking for. Despite a more challenging electrical situation with 2 phase power, twin solar invertors and a large capacity tank, Dan rose to the challenge and now we have solution which will pay for itself in 18 months.
An excellent product, with now over the air updates, an intuitive web interface and simple rule based controls we are now, for the first time, in control of our hot water.
We can remotely boost if needed with real-time tank temperature knowledge and can control how long an overnight boost via controlled load if needed.
An added bonus is the real-time animated graphic showing our grid usage and as we start to export, the power diverter doing it's thing simply and reliably heating the tank. It's given us greater knowledge about our appliance electrical usage as well.
Physical button on the device if you are not technology inclined to easily boost for 1, 2 or 3 hrs.
Instead of my retailer charging us $0.25 c per kWh to heat hot water during the day, we now use our excess Solar to do it.
Installation by an electrician who had never seen the product before, guided by Dan from PowerDiverter. No issues, working seamlessly.
Highly recommend the Powerdiverter – The Powerdiverter was money well spent, Dan explained what it could do & it does it well by letting the solar I produce to heat up my water tank saving me money. system today without having to spend a lot of $$ on a battery. I have also reached out to Daniel the owner of power diverted for technical support, he is very knowledgeable, and to ensure the system was operating optimally he personally made time in his day to come out and ensure it was operating correctly. For those looking into this for the first time don’t hesitate, I have attached some images of the house power use (blue) vs solar output yellow. In the first image you can see the current draw due to hot water circled in red, once the power diverter was installed the power use is limited to match the excess solar output. Generally the 315 ltr hot water system has fully heated by lunchtime on a reasonable solar day. Well done to the power diverter team in creating a solid product that performs.

discovered PowerDiverter.
I reached out to Daniel, the company's owner, to learn more about the product. He provided helpful information without any aggressive sales tactics.
With PowerDiverter, my solar system now efficiently heats my hot water, making a significant difference in my energy costs. It's been nothing short of a game-changer. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Daniel, who also happens to be the product's inventor, personally handled the installation, ensuring everything went smoothly.
The results were astounding. Instead of worrying about mounting energy expenses, I started earning money through my solar feed-in tariff. In fact, the results seemed too good to be true, and I had to double-check my calculations to be sure.
I also appreciate the control PowerDiverter gives me over my energy consumption. It's a fantastic feature that allows me to manage my energy use more effectively.
The panel installation process was straightforward and hassle-free. As for any issues with the company, I can happily say that I haven't encountered any problems. The entire process, from initial inquiry to installation, has been smooth and professional.
In summary, PowerDiverter is a must-have for anyone with a solar system. It's not just about significant energy savings but also about the incredible service Daniel provides.
