I’ve been with Prospa for 5 years and never missed a repayment. Since June 2025, my account has been wrongly flagged as overdue even though payments are up to date. On top of that, Prospa has taken random extra debits from my business account — ranging from $95 to over $1,500 — without any notice or explanation. For a small business, this kind of behaviour creates huge cash flow stress and makes them a risky choice for funding. Show details

STAY AWAY - FAR AWAY. You are better off taking a loan from the mafia or cartel to be honest. HIGH HIGH FEES, HIGH HIGH INTEREST and they come after your assets. From a 14k loan, I ended up paying back 65k. Read the fine print. The fees are ludicrous and should be illegal. Show details

⭐ 1 Star – DO NOT USE PROSPA! Hidden clauses and zero accountability. If I could do zero stars I would. Don’t do it! I was told this was an unsecured loan – that’s the only reason I agreed to the ridiculously high interest rates. But buried in the fine print is a hidden clause that gives them access to your assets! I did not even default, yet… Read more

they charged me fees. Worse, an internal system error on their end rejected my full payments, which damaged my perfect repayment history. This impacted my credit and meant I had to wait 12 months before I could apply for an investment property.

Prospa takes zero responsibility. They caused the issue, and I’m left to deal with the consequences.

To make matters worse, I only took out the loan because my accounts were locked due to a bank investigation relating to identity theft. I never would’ve agreed to anything that risked my assets – but they misrepresented the nature of the loan.

Their customer resolutions officer was rude, dismissive, and arrogant.

(Even though this was a commercial loan, it was secured against my personal asset — something they never clearly explained. Under the law, it doesn’t matter that it's a business loan — they still have to be transparent. This clause should have never been hidden.)

Please be careful: This clause is outrageous and predatory — it doesn’t even fall away once you repay or fix the issue. They have too much control and take no accountability.

Don’t do it. Don’t trust them. Don’t risk it.

Loan sharks – These guys are loan sharks. Loan was for $17000, ended up paying $29000 in total over 2yrs. Cause it's a business loan they're able to get away with lot more. When I had $1300 owing on my loan the put a legal fee charge of $1100 for caveat on my house which should of been done at the start. Caveats only cost $400 as well FYI. No loyalty – I have had three loans with Prospa. I paid my first two loans without a hitch, no missed payments, all paid with no concerns. My third loan is ongoing. I have not missed a payment, ever. I decided to see what kind of loan I could get to pay the loan out and have extra on top. As the payments were very high I approached a broker. They informed me… Read more

that, since all my loans had been with Prospa, and I had a successful record with Prospa, the broker stated they would talk with Prospa regarding a better rate for me but that I should apply through Prospa. I did this. I had to go through a sales speal detailing why interest rates had gone up. I knew then I was not going to get a lighter interest rate. They went through the process and told me I had been declined but they could talk to the manager and get them to look through the details. I have been involved in sales enough to know what this hedge means interest rate stays the same. I thanked them and declined. I stated I would finish paying the loan but try elsewhere after this debacle. Loyalty is, I stick with you and do the right thing and, you help me out, not try and rort me. The attachment to this review is the text I get each week reminding me to have my funds available. I have always had my funds available. Also, I got a follow up call from my broker saying Prospa called them and explained that because I only get paid fortnightly that the only way they could offer me more finance was at a higher interest rate. I will forward this information through to the ombudsman in hope that they can explain why my income stream, though more than adequate to repay my loan is at an interval that creates a higher interest rate? As an aside, during my loan, the loan I am paying now, I could see I was going to have a difficult month so I contacted Prospa's financial hardship team. This is what they could do for me. I pay half my weekly payment for a month and then pay the whole amount owed over that month plus the weekly payment in one week so....not really any help. It worked like this, these examples are approximate. My weekly payment $460. I pay $230 per week for 4 weeks. On the fifth week I pay a lump sum of $920 plus my normal weekly payment of $460. If anyone can explain how that equates to helping someone under financial hardship please illuminate me. You can rest assured, once I have paid my last few payments to Prospa, I will never use Prospa again and I will also not be using Valiant Finance who were the brokers affiliated with this debacle.

Just an update, 13/12/23, I only have 3 payments left!!

Also, I received an email from an individual higher up at Prospa who said they could review my loan application upon being given access to my ATO portal. I don't trust them.

08/01/2024 All paid out, not one missed payment. It will be interesting to see how any future applications will proceed.

+ $17 daily late payment fee (per day) + $11.50 weekly service fee (if you are late with a payment). I've given 2 stars as it was a reasonably easy process but with charges and interest like this, I'm not sure if the lending was a benefit or a trap. No transparency with the fees and interest rate is OMG high. I'll pay this loan and look elsewhere for funding. Wow, just wow.

Wow, I have read through so many reviews and majority is one star. How does Prospa get away with this? I think I have enough proof to take them to the court. I talked to Tina couple of times from Prospa. She said to me I am going around in circles… Read more

when she was the one saying "it all in your contract". Well I have enough proof to take them to the courts? Over $25 penalty they have been charging hundreds of dollars interest on top of the normal amount they take out. Eventually they sent an email saying that it was a mistake and refunded me and wrote that all penalties are waived as well......guess what they started charging the same thing from the next payment. I called them and they download the app and click on penalties section where it says "get back on track" I did that just to see if what they told me to do works......I paid the amount that would put me back on track........guess what......they are still charging me the same fees and penalties. I am exhausted with them.......I think legal step is my best option. I even told them, if it's just $25 and you guys are taking money out at will so why didn't you take the $25 and make it right........their reply.......you are the guarantor so it's you responsibility......I am really amazed with this Finance company. They don't reply to my emails and tried to charge me $80 when I asked for the phone recording of my conversation. Truly I have met a loan shark of a finance company.

Follow-up  · My wife got a call back from the same lady who on previous 4 occasions told me that I was in the wrong and they were right and blamed the system and not taking responsibility for not listening to me. They told me that I would be refunded the money taken out of my account but so far nothing- that was more than 3 weeks ago.

Stay from Prospa – Horrible Experience with Prospa – Unethical Practices and Predatory Interest I would strongly advise anyone to stay far away from Prospa. Unfortunately, due to significant financial difficulties in the hospitality industry, I couldn’t keep up with… Read more

the payments.

I reached out to Prospa, explaining my situation, and asked for help. They offered me four weeks of reduced payments, but even after that, I struggled to meet the payment schedule. Instead of working with me like they initially promised, they slapped on a staggering $45,000 in additional interest after just three months of missed payments!

Even worse, they placed a caveat on my property after assuring me that they wouldn’t if I made a lump sum payment of $2,000, which I had to gather by selling my wife’s jewelry and other personal belongings. Despite all of this, they ignored my pleas to reduce the unreasonable interest charges, even after I told them I would sell my house to repay the debt. When the house finally sold, they waited until the last minute to demand $150,000 from the settlement in their trust account.

Their practices are beyond unethical, and they’ve caused extreme stress and financial hardship for my family and me. Avoid this company at all costs – they are sharks who will do anything to bleed you dry, with no regard for your circumstances. They made promises they didn’t keep, and their predatory interest rates have left me in an even worse position than when I started.

Prospa is not a company you can trust if you find yourself facing financial difficulties. They are not here to help, only to take advantage of your situation.

instead again threatening legal action. I used to love prospa but that’s all changed. If I can give 0 star I will but please everyone do yourselves a favor and do not sign anything with prospa. All other lenders worked with me and helped me out except prospa. Instead they made my life harder and every time I would try and apply for hardship they talk me out of it. They have a great way of talking people out of things and constantly threatening legal action. I paid them today 2k and offered to pay the remainder over 4 weeks, however they responded with, set up direct debit or face legal action. Really revolting in most of my dealings with these people. I am struggling and so is my business but prospa don’t care. Funny the name prospa. Anything but.

people selling the illusion of a supportive alternative to bank lending, when in reality they are a bunch of money hungry grubs, that change the goal posts so you can never get out. I took out a $24k loan over two years, and after 10 months of weekly repayments had paid OVER $10k IN INTEREST ALONE and only $3k of the principal. My early payout figure was $21.5k. I paid this and then got told there was an additional $1200 in fees and interest owed, despite the fact I had already paid the balance of the loan out. I then got threatened by their lawyers and bullied into paying this extra fee, deemed "late" despite having paid out the loan, with even more fees accruing on it while I argued my case with them. DO NOT GO WITH THESE GRUBS. Better off with a bank loan - half the interest rate and none of the fees.
