before most recently selecting Queensland Roller Shutters: since installation, we've found the quality of the Queensland Roller Shutter product to be better than the previous brands, because the motors are quieter, and the insulation from the product is much better. We live on the coast in a salty environment and after several years, one of our two Qld Roller Shutters recently developed a jammed mechanism: I attempted to correct it, which made matters worse and caused damage. I phoned the company on Monday afternoon: [Name Removed] answered, assessed the problem and asked for some photos of the broken roller shutter. I was expecting to have to wait some weeks for a repair to take place, but was advised that afternoon that [Name Removed] could come and repair the shutter mid morning the following day! Because the company had the details of the product on their file, together with the photos I sent to them, meant that the correct replacement slats etc could be brought to the job, rather than waiting for a second visit to bring back the correct part (a good thing to avoid). On Tuesday morning I received a text message advising the time that [Name Removed] would arrive. He arrived on time, promptly accessed and examined the shutter, explained what had happened, had the correct parts in his vehicle, carefully fixed the shutter then advised what he had done. The shutter looked brand new on completion! While he was here, he asked about our second shutter: I advised that it was operating well, but had developed a slight, periodic clicking sound. [Name Removed] spent more time accessing and examining the second shutter mechanics, then identified and corrected the issue while on site. Cheerful, competent, reliable and professional service! Because the shutters were installed (not much) less than 5 years ago, the repairs were able to be seamlessly conducted under warranty. These people provide a superior quality product with excellent service and they can be trusted. I'm not a company employee or relative and have not been paid for this review: I'm a retired management consultant who rarely writes reviews, but I make an exception for outstanding service. From my experience, this is a firm who respect and empathise with their customers and do not rush their customers. If convenience and peace of mind is important with product selection and service when dealing with tradespeople, I highly recommend Queensland Roller Shutters.

QLD Roller Shutters have been in business since 1998 so I was confident in using them and having their support down the track if need be.

So that's my reason for choosing them.

Before getting our shutters we had so much trouble with getting our baby to sleep for her nap. We also never opened the blinds otherwise it was too bright and hot/cold inside.

It's great having the option to have them open at any level, partly or completely closed.

We get a lot of glare at the top from the sun coming over the fence so having the option of having them three quarters open meant a lot for us.

the kids waking at 4am in summer, but it was clear that wasn't going to happen so we installed the shutters. I live in an old wooden house with a vaulted ceiling - so there was going to be issues getting power discreetly to the shutters, as going through the roof cavity wasn't an option. Several other companies wanted to run a web of conduit over the whole house to get power to the windows, but that was going to look awful. Queensland Roller Shutters had an alternative option - small solar panels on the side of the window frame to power the shutter batteries, so no cables going everywhere and controlled with a remote control.

I was a bit concerned about this, I wasn't sure how much sunlight the panels would get as we have eves, and I wasn't sure if it would charge them enough, but I really didn't want the conduit over the whole house so went with the solar panels. They are the BEST!! In the year we have had them they haven't had any issues with performance, they have had power to go up and down multiple times a day without any power issues ever. Plus it is nice knowing they are solar powered and using renewable energy to operate.

When the shutters were installed I was a tad disappointed as they don't block out 100% of the light. A little bit of the light does go in through the shutters and around the sides, as I thought it would be complete 100% block out and could throw away our blinds. It isn't 100% block out. BUT we already had block out fabric roller blinds in standard roll on the outside of the internal window frame to reduce the light getting in before the shutters were installed. I had been hoping to get rid of these but the combination of the roller shutters and the blockout roller blinds makes pretty close to 100% block out of light. That means that even in the middle of summer the kids sleep till 7am, as their rooms are pretty close to 100% dark. For this reason alone I LOVE these shutters!! But they are also good for blocking out/in heat and noise, plus are good security.

We also got one installed as our garage door. We have a split level home and the garage is below the house, but it is quite a low height and not standard height at all. The original garage door was falling off the hinges. To get a standard roller garage door was going to be very expensive, and so large that it was going to make the opening almost too small to get the car it. The solution of the shutters over it as a garage door is perfect and fits into the low height of the garage.

I also love the remotes that we got with the shutters. The normal remotes go in each room to put them up or down, but we also ordered a master remote that we can program with different times, so depending on the season and if we are trying to block heat out or let it in we can adjust the shutter and program them so that they go up and down automatically at the time that we want each day, and I can program different times for different shutters.

We have had two very minor issue with the shutters in the last year, but they came out promptly each time and fixed it all up.

Overall we couldn't be happier. If you are thinking about getting these I highly recommend Queensland Roller Shutters.

The price was better than competitors and the product, going by the slat samples provided by all companies, is the best I could find.

My shutter is connected to a power point on the external wall and works like a dream with the simple remote - what was an unusable (in spring and summer), north facing room with double glass sliding doors is now a lovely, cool, shady room as busy as the rest of the house.

The shutter is quieter than shutters I had in another house and the temperature, light and ventilation control is excellent.

I now wish that I had contacted this company before I installed adjustable external aluminium louvres on my windows.

Without a doubt, this is the most professional home improvement company I have ever dealt with - try them - you won't be disappointed.

You have to pay for "warranty service" – Charged us $180 for a callout fee for "warranty service". Left our business vulnerable for several days while they took their time to get their technician (which we had to pay the callout fee for!) to get to it. Turned out that this was a problem that could have been solved over the phone when we contacted them earlier.

10 year warranty? No way! – We bought 2 roller shutters with what we thought came with a 10 year warranty. Now, after 3 years and one of our shutters not working we are told that we have to pay a $180.00 call out fee which only covers the first hour of labour. The 10 year warranty is for parts only. When I checked the website to find the details of the warranty I clicked on the 10 year warranty and no further details were given but just to say it was a 10 year warranty. So now we find ourselves having to pay a minimum of $180.00.

I selected solar powered roller shutters with eight perspex slats in each roller shutter. The quality of the roller shutters is excellent and they operate smoothly and quietly.
