From my own experience, its very clear some RACQ employees have associated themselves with crash scammers. Really need to watch out this insurance company. If you are involved in crash and you think its a scam, dont lose your cool, instead, accept the reputable courtesy vehicles from repairers. and tell them your situation. and ask what approach… Read more
they will take if RACQ suddenly refuse to pay the rental cars. If you are absolutely right in the crash, and the courtesy vehicle operator wont chase after you for the money, then take the rental cars. Its your right. Dont let RACQ take advantage of you. Dont give out any details to RACQ employees or lawyers that contact you after you have had crash. Just remain a clear head what you are gonna do next.
Worst claim experience ever. Claim lodge in March still back and forward waiting to get paid. Ridiculous customer service. I will definitely change the insurance company after this claim get sorted Show details
Corporate greed at its worst – I joined the racq in 2008 but have never insured with them as I've never found their prices competitive however have usuallyhad my ctp with them. A couple of years ago I had the misfortune of having a distracted driver in my street cross the centreline and crash into my trailer. She as it turns out was insured with the racq. Early in the process I… Read more
had a number of conversations with them about liability and provided them with photographic evidence showing that their insured crossed to the wrong side of the road causing the accident. Since then they will no longer speak with me and have decided to have a debit collection agency harrass me for the cosy of repairing their insured car. Interestingly however I was contacted by a third party investigator, contracted by the racq, to help get them get out a third party compensation claim made against them by the woman driving the car that hit my trailer as my ctp was with them. Talk about corporate greed! I've provided then with photos or the crash site, offered to meet with them to walk them through the scene and evidence, to which they have declined each time. Interestingly though there investigator welcomed the opportunity and could clearly see what had happened. What a disgraceful organisation. I'm very disappointed, so much for being a member of Queensland's biggest club.
Nightmare Experience with RACQ as Third Party in Accident – I recently had the misfortune of being involved in a car accident where I was the innocent third party. While the accident itself was bad enough, my experience with RACQ (the car insurance company of the person who caused the accident when my car was parked in the street!) was nothing short of a nightmare. Firstly, their customer service was… Read more
appalling. When I tried to contact them to get help, I was put on hold for what felt like an eternity and when I finally got through to someone, they were unhelpful and dismissive. It happened many times and it was clear that they were not interested in providing me with any assistance whatsoever. At the end of some of the hours of waiting in a phone call, they promised they will call me by COB to solve my issue and they are not calling me anymore.
Secondly, the process of getting my claim processed was extremely slow and frustrating. Despite providing all the necessary documentation and information, RACQ seemed to be dragging their feet and not taking my claim seriously. It took weeks for them to even acknowledge my claim, let alone make any progress on it.
And finally, when they finally did make an offer for compensation, it was insultingly low so they asked me to pay out-of-pocket costs to repair my car as a third party in the accident. It was clear that they were trying to shortchange me and get away with paying as little as possible, despite the fact that I had suffered significant damage and loss as a result of the accident.
Overall, my experience with RACQ was absolutely terrible. They were unhelpful, slow, and unwilling to provide fair compensation for the damage they caused. I would strongly advise anyone to steer clear of this company if they value their peace of mind and financial security.

Worst 3rd party experience of 20 years of driving – I'm the 3rd party , my car was damaged by a RACQ customer by their negligence, while it was parked front of my property. RACQ car insurance claim team ; # does not give much priority for a third party who's in a very inconvenient situation due to the doing of their client. # I've been put on hold over an hour , just trying yo get an update of the current status of the chain. Exceptional service for Claim Resolution! (I'm the claimant) – I am right now on the phone with Mitchell. His service is exceptional! He has me on hold several times while we progress with my claim against an RACQ insurance-holder, the at-fault driver of a collision. Mitchell has checked with his supervisor and other departments to ensure all information is being collated (Rather complicated claims exercise).… Read more
Right at this point he's organising a hire car for me. I cannot express my gratitude to Mitchell for his care and diligence! THANK YOU, MITCHELL! THANK YOU RACQ!
Feeling ripped off – As others have stated on here, RACQ gave me a renewal quote that was higher than starting a new policy separately from the website. So I went for the lower quote, but when I was sent the paperwork they wanted me to pay the difference or my policy would be invalid. Too much arguing over $9.01 so I just paid it and moved on. Nevertheless, I feel… Read more
that was a scumbag move and will keep that in mind whenever somebody asks me what they are like to deal with.
They Don't Cover Actual Damage to the Third Party – This is a very bad insurance company. My car has Market value of 14600. their assessor terribally bargained with me providing misleading or inadequate details to pay me 12500 off. I am just a third party in the case. I don't recommend anyone to go with this company. He initially wanted to pay me off 12000. after around 1/2 hour argument, that guy… Read more
agreed to 12500. person hit may car genuinely provide his insurance company's details. He thought it is a good company.
Terrible car insurance – I've never dealt with such terrible insurance company, so slack and incompetent. I've had to keep on calling them about my claim after a car accident with one of their client ( i'm not at fault). I emailed them the details of the accident a week later and only about 2 1/2 months later they sent to me to get a quote for my car and will call me… Read more
back on Monday. But it been 6 days, no one call me back, so i end up calling them. I came across a smart aleck telling me they still assessing the quote and not to drive my car if it is not safe ( so how the hell do you think i can go to work without my broken car, thanks for the advise). Still in dispute about this, but worst car company ever.
