Untrustworthy
Purchased Home and Contents insurance and was the victim of a robbery whilst on holidays. The thieves took everything. We came home to a completely empty house. It took 3 months before we received any compensation and after 12 months we still had not been fully compensated. Every time I rang it was always a different person handling my claim who didn’t know what was going on. I finally gave up and that’s what they want. Do not buy from these people because it’s Real Bad Insurance.

Amazingly great service

Beware of premium price increases
I was insured with Real for 4 years, only to sit down and do the maths to find my premiums increased by 106% with no claims. When my renewal arrived for the 5th year I wrote to Real asking for a more reasonable deal and explaining that there were competitors offering a better deal, they told me this was their final offer then forwarded me a confirmation of cancellation.
Premium costs per year:
2017: $499.88
2018: $659.18 (32% increase)
2019: $751.46 (14% increase)
2020: $890.93 (19% increase)
2021: $1029.74 (16% increase)
I never made a claim with Real so I can't comment on their performance in that aspect, but due to their unreasonable price rises and unwillingness to work with a long term customer, I won't be dealing with them again.

in my opinion there is no reasonable explanation for premiums to more than double over a 5 year period. When your competitors are able to offer an almost identical product to a new customer for 30% cheaper, it shows that loyalty to Real Insurance doesn't pay dividends.Customer RelationsReal Insurance

Terrible experience! Ive been with Real Insurance for about 5 years and I lodged my 1st claim because the range hood got damaged due to fire. The fire went from a pan to the range hood and because it’s all grease inside the fire spread easily.

Shocking claims ‘service’
I have had Landlord Insurance with Real Insurance for about five years, and seemed to be relatively good value until I had to make a claim!
Currently been two and a half months since I lodged the claim for malicious damage.
Initially quick on the assessment etc but then everything ground to a halt.
Constantly ringing them for updates as to the progress as they never email.
When I would ring to get an update they would say “have you sent rental agreement or lease agreement” etc and I would reply “no, as I was never asked for it!” and so on the ...Read more

Follow up review Misleading policy
After my bathroom overflowed flooding my bathroom and bedroom my claim was originally rejected by a manager.
I followed up with the dispute resolution process and it was found that I was correct...the damage was caused by overflow (which i continually tried to tell the manager but she did not want to listen). Thanks to the dispute resolution team my claim has now been accepted. I was told that the manager did not understand the policy.
This raises the question of how many people pay insurance but have their claims rejected because someone does...Read more

THE worst claims service ever
Took 3 months to let us know part of our claim was declined. We agreed a scope of works then they decided they weren’t going to do the work after all. Real Insurance & Claims Central constantly pass the buck to each other. Terrible! Avoid!!
