Bad service, late delivery from Taren point workout world – Brought a half cage smith machine, plates, bench and Olympic bar from this mob... poor customer service, guy couldn't help me lift any of the equipment onto the ute, couldn't care less about it... no lifting devices (you think a gym supplier would have a forklift to lift this heavy equipment).. rookie salesmen with bad attitudes... spent over 2k straight up and was looking to buy more but put me off... sort yourselves out!!
No issues with the Taren Point Store – Read a few reviews relating to the follow up service being so bad and think it must vary greatly from store to store - had an issue with a 3 year old epiliptical and went to the store with the issue - they could not have been more helpful - filled out the computer forms for me for the warranty claim and within 10 days the parts arrived and it was… Read more
repaired. Seems like some store staff within the organisation don't give a toss and yet others such as Taren Point could not have been more helpful.
Do yourself a favour - avoid them! – I bought an expensive Cardiogym CG3500 at the Lutwyche store - the computer at the recumbent bike is dead. I tried to contact Workout world via the website, by calling them but the phone would just ring out or they tell you they will get back to me which they don't. When you spend $4000 for the Gym equipment it should last more than 4 years. I was… Read more
informed by an independent service technician that Workout world has stopped stocking parts and when they break down you basically stuffed. I tried to source parts from the head office in California- but they just don't reply to any emails. So all I can do is trash the equipment and I will do myself a favour and not walk into a Workout World store again.
Don't Bother – Even thought it was an inexpensive treadmill I bought from Workout World I expected it to last longer than a year. I went to turn it on one day and it is just DEAD, not even the console lights up. It was under Parts Warranty but no longer labour. I tried reaching an agreement with them but to no avail. I'm getting rid of it. I really can't see the… Read more
point of paying a couple of hundred dollars for a technician to come out and maybe/possibly fix it, only for it to happen again in a few months time. Even if I had a spare $10,000 I would not buy a top of the range treadmill from Workout World.
Don't even walk into the store - save yourself the angst – Don't buy from Workout World, don't use RA Logistics for your deliveries and don't even think about buying Vision exercise equipment. I tried for just over 2 weeks to get a recumbent exercise bike delivered after paying for it in full. After taking time off work two days in a row for deliveries that did not happen, the bike finally arrived on the… Read more
3rd day I'd arranged delivery (7 hours after the appointed time) and was assembled in my home by men who could not find the instructions (which were in the box) and had never put one together before. It did not work at all, did not even turn on. They picked up a new console from the store and still it did not work at all. The bike was taken away and I was promised by the manager at Workout World Camperdown that he would personally put the bike together in the store and deliver it for me out of hours. Again the logistics company arranged delivery having put the bike together in the warehouse before arriving with it. This one still did not work at all. Clearly it had not been tested. Workout World were amazed that RA Logistics had not followed their instructions. RA Logistics said they had been told not to pick one up from the shop but to put it together in the warehouse. Someone was lying and I really didn't care who. The dead bike stayed in my house and again I was promised that the shop would put one together and deliver it after testing. By this time I was sick of the lies and had learned that the two dead bikes that had been delivered to me were not the only ones and that Vision had moved its manufacturing from Taiwan to China and had gone from being a good brand to being rubbish. The only good thing in this entire exercise was that I had no difficulty getting my money back. Even the pickup of the second dead bike was botched though as RA Logistics sent one man to remove a 65kg exercise bike from my house. Thank goodness my husband was there to help so that he did not carve up my doorways. AVOID AT ALL COSTS Workout World, RA Logistics and Vision exercise equipment!!!
Poor Follow Up – I bought a treadmill for over $5000. It was the best they had. It has been an absolute lemon. I have had their repair person "fix" it numerous times at $90 a visit and it still doesn't work. It turns out it was an American machine and the voltage is wrong - even though it has a transformer. The local store where I bought it and the company -… Read more
Workout World couldn't care - I will never shop there again. Nothing - it doesn't work. It doesn't work. They sold a product that was always going to be a problem.

Incompetent i may as well of served myself! – As a customer of workout world for years spending thousands of dollars on equipment we went back to workout world. My partner placed an order of his goods then i received a phonecall they were instore i was told some of the gear would fit in my car even if it meant taking them out of the box so i organised to pick up what i could in the car and… Read more
the rest would be picked up a different day. I made the trip only to be told by a different staff member once i got there that not one thing would fit in my car to put it lightly i was pissed off! So i organised paid delivery through a company met him at the store to be told i couldnt take my goods as ge creditline was down! Finally after stuffing me around finally could pay for my goods but there was an item missing that hadnt been ordered! You will never get my business ever again i left the store so irate due to incompetent unorganized staff!
Terrible after sales service – I bought an avanti treadmill approximately 12 months ago. About 3 months ago, a piece on the treadmill broke so i went down to the local store to replace it as it was still under warranty. Chap at the store was happy to process the warranty. Two months later and i am still waiting for the arrival of the part. I've contacted the store several… Read more

The treadmill is great but once you part with your money, don't expect great after sales service. Treadmill Terrible warranty service
Customer Serbice – Yikes have just read the terrible reviews re Work Out Worlds customer service and felt I should have my say. We very recently purchased a treadmill from the Taren Point Store and from the minute we walked into the store we were welcomed and had a sales rep give us all the help we needed. We had so many questions and he not once showed any sign of… Read more
wishing we would just get on with it. They were happy for us to try all machines for comparison. I highly recommend a visit to the Taren Point shop if you require assistance. Just hope our experience with the treadmill is as positive.
Workout World – In late October this year, we purchased a few thousand dollars worth of items from Workout World Nunawading including a cross trainer and various weight items & benches. I was trusting of this brand as they had been represented by The Biggest Loser on Channel 10. When we went in, the salesman didn’t really take us seriously and wasn’t helpful… Read more
at all when we asked about various features of their cross trainer range. It seemed he couldn’t care less about making a $3,500 sale.
We put a deposit down of about $300 and I asked the consultant if the deposit would be refundable if we changed our minds. He said Workout World don’t issue refunds, but he’s happy to make an exception if this was the case we did change our minds and refund our deposit. This was later denied by the salesman as having been agreed on.
We were informed by the sales consultant that come 18/11/2013 we would receive a call with a delivery date and to just pop back down to the store to pay the balance remaining for the order. Though, it turned out the items were not in stock until late November, nevertheless my partner went down to the store to pay the balance in full and await a delivery call as promised.
A few days rolled around and no call regarding delivery. So we called up and were told “expect a call within the next few days”
After patiently waiting 3 days with no call, we called the store again only to be told again “expect a call within the next few days” This “expect a call business” went on for 2 weeks with no call from the delivery company.
After another week of nothing from Workout World, we called and asked to speak to a manager. It wasn’t until my partner got quite angry with them over the phone, he was put in touch with the regional manager who basically told him the company had been taken over by Super Retail Group (who own Rebel Sport, Super A Mart etc) and all the stock had been moved to a warehouse in Altona as part of the buyout process. In addition, we were made to feel guilty when the manager explained that a lot of people had also lost their jobs in the takeover.
We explained to the manager that it is sad, but we just want our order, or a full refund. We were told a refund was not possible as the company my partner had paid the money to, no longer existed.
About a week later after much questioning from the sales manager, we received a call on Sunday to advise us the delivery company were on their way with part of the goods.
We received our part order, despite being a Sunday. Then about 2 weeks later we received our cross trainer however there was part of the order again, missing.
I see from various forms of Media that Workout World will continue to trade under its name but I would recommend people definitely not even consider purchasing equipment from this retailer as their customer service skills, fulfilment and company they use for delivery (communication wise) was completely unacceptable.
We had a bit of a chat to the delivery guys who delivered the stuff and were told they pretty much had to supply their own trailer and car to do their job and were solely delivering the goods on behalf of Workout World's unfulfilled orders. They did a great job and we are really angry that a company are clearly exploiting such workers. On top of that they told us that the company expected them to work xmas day and new years day to meet the unfulfilled orders!
Unfortunately, submitting a claim to Consumer Affairs proved futile so I would say best avoid dodgy companies like this altogether. Even though it was almost like pulling hens teeth, we did managed to get some money knocked off the prices See above - the whole experience was terrible and has left us wary of spending our hard earned on large purchases
I Love the Avanti AT685 Treadmill – I have purchased the treadmill from Workout World 2 months ago, since we have owned it we have had less back aches in comparison to my last treadmill, (with no suspension), this machine is soo comfertable to run on and has all the functionalities + more than what i Expected.. thankyou guys at Workout World for introducing this to me. The worst retail experience I have ever had - Auburn – I have been waiting since June 10 for my machine. Lie after lie as to why I hadn't received it. Not once was a phone call returned. Terrible experience at bankstown workout world – I talked over phone on Wednesday and the guy over phone told me the reebok spin bike would cost me 1100 with delivery and installation. Terrible Customer Service at Nunawading – Walked past WorkoutWorld at Nunawading on the 10-July and noticed that they had a Reebok eliptical (floorstock) on sale at a reasonable price. them was busy with another couple, the other was behind the counter and he did his very best not to make any eye contact wth me at all. I asked a few questions about the product, durability, if there were any known problems with this model etc... when I asked about the warranty, he made an audible "sigh" then opend a draw, pulled out a folder and said twelve months... he gave me no information about the product. Then he said go and try it and see how it feels. I did this and after a few minutes of working the elliptical attendant did not once look over to my direction and offer any assistance or ask how it felt. What did I do ? I got off and walked out of the store (with cash in hand). It's no wonder people look to internet sales after they experience such poor customer service. I then went to FITNESS CHOICE (in Preston) and bought a better and more expensive machine and I did experience great and knowledgeable service with a smile.
Really terrible customer service
X-Tainer sucks – Brought a X-Trainer just over 12 months ago and I have had nothing but trouble, had the X-Trainer replaced with a floor model parts missing and making noises. Contacted Work Out World at Tuggerah numerous times and have had 3 different persons out told 3 different things and not fixed. Have all correspondence with Manager not good. Out of warranty not a cheap machine and still not fixed. Parts missing, making all kinds of noises
Very happy with service and cross trainer from Mentone – I purchased a cross trainer from Workout World Mentone 3 months ago. The sales person was very informative without being pushy. Gepps Cross – I am very happy with the service I received from the Gepps Cross store in Adelaide. I ordered a home gym which was to take 3 weeks, when I followed up to check that it was on time I was told there was a delay......the manager there said he would look into it and call me back ( I didn't hold out much hope ). Excellent service by both the guys I dealt with in there. Great service, honest, reliable
They really are the fitness equipment specialists – I have never experienced more knowledgable staff than those at Workout World. I have shopped at several of the stores over the years and have always been given great advice and excellent service. The massive product range and good prices keep me going back to them when I need anything fitness. Range, Prices, Service
Terrible Customer Service by management – I made an order from Workout World Townsville for the place I work, I needed a quote and invoce in order to raise a payment order. The young manager was covering her incompetency by using me as an excused.
BAD MANAGEMENT
Terrible – I live in frankston and went to a workout world in my area (well, the closest one anyway) and i've had nothing but issues with the service. I purchased what i thought was a top of the range treadmill, pity all i got was top of the range excuses as to why it didn't work. issues with head office were the reasons i was told). when i finally did get the unit it was obviusly a floor model they had tried to pass off as a brand new unit. Upon telling them i wanted a new unit in a box when it is delivered i was told i'd have to wait another month, so i accepted the unit i had.
a month into using it, the treadmill blew a fuse, the service team said it wasn't the treadmills fault and that i had a faulty power point (not true seeing as i had used that point for years for my last treadmill. The store told me it would cost $150 to fix my unit as it wasn't a warranty issue... by this point i was horrified.
Contacting head office got me no where, i ended up paying the $150 and selling off the unit for half of what i originally paid.
My advice, do not buy from workout world, i hear a fe of the franchises are leaving the workout world brand, good move i say! everytime i walk past a workout world store, its empty shocking customer service, unhelpful when i had a problem... wouldn't buy Avanti branded equipment again.
Terrible – Have had a $3000 treadmill and out of the 6 months we have had it it's broken down twice and only been usable for 3 months, 1st time took over 2 months to get fixed and it never worked properly, Now its broken again and I have been waiting for 3 weeks without a tech even coming out yet. Terrible – It seemed all the points made to me by the sales persons (husband and wife whom I was informed were allegedly the owners) that convinced me to buy the exercise bike were lies. then 10 mins and it does not seem to be improving making the bike pointless for my needs!
The other important lie was that I was convinced to buy this bike over a competitors because of the quality and their warranty and after sales service!
My experience with this was horrible and I was constantly fobbed off. When putting the bike together we discovered broken parts in the box which presented a safety issue. I promptly put it back together, put it back in the box and returned it which isn't a walk in the park as it is heavy. They refused to exchange it telling me that their service guy would call me the next day and come down and replace the broken parts saying that I should take my bike back home so I could continue to use it even though the safety cover is broken! This never happened, in fact they never called. When I went back there to ask them what was going on I was greeted with another man (the alleged owners father) whom simply passed the buck to the salesperson that I saw the previous two times whom wasn't present saying something on the lines of, "oh yes I heard about that, we didn't know what was meant to be fixed, he was meant to call you" (a lie as I explained and demonstrated it on the demo bike very clearly the first time, making sure he understood and I watched him write it down) Again no word, rinse and repeat each time telling me they didn't have my number (I gave it to them every single time, watching them enter it on their computer!) until eventually another salesperson was there whom though he tried the number excuse along with the "I was only just told about this" excuse also but then appeared more sympathetic, had me go home and come in yet again (anyone going to cover all this petrol?) to pick up and drop off the body of the bike so they could arrange for the parts to be replaced with a demo model as it was all they had left and they didn't have the tool they needed to replace the parts there on the spot. This could have very easily been fixed as it was an issue with the safety cover being broken which I could not afford to let go due to our own safety but specifically as I have a small child.
Finally this last person called like promised to let me know I could pick up the body, when I went there the second person was there, I asked him if they just replaced the faulty parts in which he said yes but I am not sure as the bike feels and sounds different, I am suspicious that they just replaced the whole body (which means the motor) with the demo model... not impressed!!!
I feel the only reason I finally got this far was because I kept going to the store for months and asking them about it in front of their customers until they finally did something.
And despite all this I am still unsatisfied with this bike as it still is not performing as promised!
What is even more disheartening is seeing similar stories from customers in other stores across different states, different owners and different salespeople. This does not appear isolated at the least!
The only reason this has a 1 rating is because I do not have the option to select anything lower!
The store I went to was in Mt Barker, South Australia, in my opinion I would avoid workout world like the plague! Absolutely none. After sales service was virtually non existent. The bike was faulty and presented a safety issue. My experience despite being in another state was the same as the reviewer below and others. Certainly not an isolated event!
Terrible – We purchaed an expensive $4000 treadmill from a Workout World store in Victoria. It didn't work properly from the day it was installed - several problems. my eye, I told them I'll be back to get them later.
It was approx a week until I went back and ordered a 4-way boxing stand ($699), the waiting time was "middle of next week" the salesperson said. I didn't mind too much, I called them at the end of the following week as I was expecting a call. They had explained that "...it must have missed the truck!" (WTF!!! how can something so big miss a truck?)
I called them the following week and it wasn't until the following monday when I received a phone call to say it was in. When I went to pick it up I bought a speed ball and a new nylon speed ball mount (approx $70). I spent the following Saturday morning putting it together (awful instructions! not entirely WW fault).
I popped back in a little later and bought some dumbbells ($130ish) for my partner (a personal trainer), and a kettlebell ($75ish) for myself. By now I was in full swing of the excercise movement, toning up and feeling great!
I still needed something more... "THAT'S IT! I need a heart rate monitor!", I did my due-diligence and found Suunto would fit my activities. That weekend I popped down to WW and got a Suunto T3C watch - albeit NOT the one I called only minutes earlier and asked the staff if they had it in stock, to which they replied "of course we do" [STRIKE ONE!]($270 w/ 10% discount), about 2 weeks later I bought a Suunto GPS pod ($300) to measure the distances I was running and moving while at footy training, I was quoted $260 (full retail) by two of the part owners, after another 2 weeks of waiting for the GPS pod to come in, I still had to call them and ask if the item had arrived. In my lunch break I drove to Mile End WW and introduced myself, the salesperson asked me how I would like to pay the $300.00 - I said "eftpos... WHAT? $300? I was quoted $260!" I said shocked. He didn't want to know, he said "it's $300 do you want it or not?", [STRIKE TWO!!] - I was furious - $40 isn't much, but it's the principle. I still took the item.
A number of weeks later the $130 dumbbells I purchased fell apart and hit one of my partners client on the head. She was devastated! I took them back to WW and explained what had happened, I saw one of the owners and he was very empathetic and explained he would get them replaced brand-new. My partner and I were very happy with this outcome.
They explained it will be 2 weeks until they will be replaced, we didn't care as long as they were safe again.
2 weeks later I called to see if they had been replaced, the salespeople knew nothing about it, they said they would find out and call me back. I called them the next day and spoke to the same person, again he didn't have any idea what I was talking about, but he said he would check - he put me on hold and said that it would be in the next day or so [STRIKE THREE!!! - YOU'RE OUT! NEXT BATTER].
A couple of days had past so instead of calling I drove into WW and found they were sitting behind the desk - in the same box as when I took it there. They had not been replaced they were repaired, we accepted this [STRIKE ONE!].
About a week later they started coming loose and dangerous again, I checked them over and found it had been broken inside one of the caps that held them together, I temporarily fixed them, but they only lasted about a week.
Last Monday (15/06/2009) I took them back in to WW, two of the owners were there - I had been dealing with these guys from the start. I showed them what had happened, one of them picked it up and basically made me feel like a bloody lying criminal! [STRIKE TWO!!]. He said "they've been dropped haven't they?", I said "I can't tell you that, they're not mine", he said "OF COURSE THEY HAVE LOOK!", I again said "I don't know if they have". Then they said "we'll have to replace that cap", I felt a little easier once they said that, then he said "it'll be a couple of weeks". Ohh sh*t I wonder how long really????
In summary, for $130 of what it cost me, it has completely spoilt their business in my mind, I will gladly travel into Adelaide and purchase from Rebel or Amart next door.
I sincerely regret spending the $1700 odd dollars there, I'm only putting it down to an expensive lesson [TIME & GAME!] Great Location, professional uniform. Treat you like a lying criminal, awful service, never call back, never deliver on-time, never come through with their verbal quotations.
Terrible – After my experience with the Canberra workout world store I would never shop there again. We purchased an elliptical trainer and had problems from the word go. Good – I found the Staff members to be polite and very helpful. I shopped around for weeks before making my decision. I found no where had the quality that Workout World have. at workout world said you have to run on them to get the feel of how good a treadmill realy is as i am not a small person, it was realy stuggling at 9kph. i think that i will buy the treadmill from workout word as they where the most honest about there treadmills. Good range ,the staff new what they where selling ie answerwed questions with out having to ask someone else , was also pleased to find that most stores are seperate franchises. thought that they where a bit dear but ended up with a good price after haggling [quote only at this stage]
