men who nod wisely yet speak stupidly and I wasn’t about to fall for that one. I think it is important to ask the right questions of any trades person regardless of the industry to avoid being swindled and taken for a ride which is common these days.

Here is the two most important questions I asked the carpet cleaning companies I phoned:

• Are you or have you ever been certified as a carpet cleaner?

• Will the price you quote me over the phone stay the same and include everything you need to do clean my carpets properly or will I need to pay extra for extra stuff?

I don’t believe these to be unreasonable questions.

Now I was not born yesterday and don’t expect good quality carpet cleaning by looking for the cheapest carpet cleaner. I was completely expecting to invest a little more for a quality cleaner as my carpets were quite dirty. I was not about to fall for the gimmicks on those cheap flyers and advertisements.

I decided on a gentleman by the name of Peter from red rose carpet cleaning due to the fact that he initially took the time to politely answer all my questions patiently, quickly and confidently.

I found it important Peter didn’t try to push me into making a booking at the end of the call as my final test was to say: “I will phone you back if I want to book with you”. Peter was polite and said something no other carpet cleaner did at that point which was: “It will be his pleasure to help if he was lucky enough to be chosen”. Now that was simply polite and good manners.

Some of the other cleaners said they could only give me their price if I booked with them there and then which was pushy and made me feel like I was about to be swindled. As I am not one to hold back I told each and every one of them to get lost if you intend on being a pushy salesman.

That went down as well as you might imagine.

I had a 3 bedroom apartment (completely empty and was rather dirty) and I know others out there would undertake the task for under $100 (well in their initial over the phone quote). I paid red rose carpet cleaning $over $363 because I wanted my bond back and to make sure it was done correctly, left looking clean and attractive to rent to a new tenant.

Peter took a little over two and a half hours and left the carpets looking crisp and very clean.

I believe Peter was thorough and delivered a quality clean hence I received 100% of my bond back… no questions asked.

I recommend Peter only because his results are worth every cent in my opinion.

I received a call late afternoon, after my insurance company made the necessary arrangements and RRCC was appointed to inspect and immediately deal with drying the carpet and underlay, as well as the laundry and kitchen. I received a call at work at 5pm, and wasn't sure whether I'd be home by 6pm due to an electrical storm which often causes havoc on my train line from Sydney's CBD to South of Sydney. [Name Removed] insisted his preference to do the job that same day, rather than wait till the morning and risk further damage. He text just as he said he would, before leaving his place, and turned up just after 7pm. Four air dryers and one de-humidifier were installed and left to run continuously, and by the next morning, I felt confident the carpet would be dry and restored to good condition. [Name Removed] kept me informed every step of the way; returning on Friday evening to check whether there was any more moisture in the carpets, which there wasn't, and left the air dryers and de-humidifier on for one more night for good measure. The machines were left to run close to 72 hours before he returned a few days later in the morning to collect them, steam clean and kick back the carpet (which had to be raised at one corner to place an air dryer at the edge for the air to circulate underneath). The end result: a brand new carpet(!!) or what appears to be a very clean and new carpet, just like it was 13 years ago when it was first laid! Amazing – I despise getting my carpets steam cleaned because of the residual odours, and fragrances used so make every effort to avoid the need. ripped off by another cleaner called Carpet Cleaners R Us who used cold water from my laundry sink in a mobile cleaning machine that was pushed over the carpet. The result was disgusting. They sprayed lavender all over my carpet and the smell made me sick for 2 months. Despite my calls to them they wouldn't refund the cost, despite their "guarantee". Red Rose is a White Knight in comparison.

There are heaps of companies in Sydney who promise everything but after hearing reports from other people about the service why waste time. Honestly, Red Rose is the best. I am a Dyson girl who hates smells and dirty floors, and is very suspicious about services. The other thing about Red Rose is that it is one man only who does the work, and he owns the company! real steam, punctual, honest, nice a little expensive but the extra $30 is worth it

Excellent service. My lounge and rug were in a poor state and red rose made them look as good as new. Very thankful for the time and attention to detail shown by Peter and his team. Definitely recommend!

what to do after cleaning was performed. Also very adaptable, when I added the cleaning of my bedhead to the order at the last minute. Ably assisted by George, Peter was very thorough with the actual cleaning, starting with indepth vacuuming and using professional equipment for my third floor unit (no lift!). Strongly recommended.
