Warranty is questionable, heater is good – Heating wise, this heater is very good, heats my large open plan area very well. I have marked it down because the advertised warranty is no quite factual. -https://www.rinnai.com.au/online/heating/portable-gas-heaters/avenger-25-convector/#! It says "5 year peace of mind warrant"" When you look up the details, you find labor is only covered for 5… Read more ·  2

years, and a lot of other parts are less than 5 years. Anyone who has bought this based on what is said on the web site will be entitled to 5 years warranty, however you will have to refer to Consumer Council if the claim is not honoured under warranty. That is my opinion, however you should consult legal or consumer council advise.

Updated to 4 stars After warranty has been clarified by Rinnai No hesitation in recommending this heater for large open plan areas. My Area is approximately 160 square meters. It also warms up rest of rooms once I open the door to rest of house My heater says it is Made in Japan which is comforting for me

Cheap alternative to electricty – Purchased the heater to warm our family room instead of using the ducted reverse cycle air conditioner. Warms the room up a lot quicker and is so much cheaper to run. Highly recommend this heater if you are just wanting to heat the main room you use. It is not suitable to heat the house but then it doesn't claim to.  Show details

Keep away the winter chills – Great heater keeps me warm from the winter chills special in the morning. I wold recommend buying two, one for the kitchen area and other in the lounge. Cheaper to run that electricity. Only down side it can give off a gas smell. Need to top up LGP bottles. Every year.  Show details ·  1

Perfect for our space – Great on saving power, heats the room straight away and we never have it on full temp as it works wonderfully. I highly recommend this heater. It heats the whole living, dining and bedroom area which is great as we spend less on heating and don't have to take up a lot of space with a split system or multiple heaters. Plus the gas (as it is is very fantastic, hardly using any gas) bill is surprising low.  Show details

Warm and Toasty – So glad we purchased this product. We recently moved into a new house that had connected LPG gas. We researched a range of heaters including electric and gas and decided on the Rinnai Avenger 25. It heats up quickly and has an easy to use timer that means it comes on in the morning and before we get home at night ensuring we have a warm house. It also comes with great safety features which gives you peace of mind  Show details

Keeps a large area very warm – I was a little cynical when we purchased this as I thought it would be too small to heat our large living space. We have been using it for a few years now and are very pleased with how warm it makes the living area. I would recommend it despite it being a little pricey, it's worth it!  Show details

No smell, thermostatic control – From the reviews I was concerned about two things: smell and poor temperature control. The unit I purchased suffered from neither. It clearly is thermostatically controlled and seven people in the room could not detect any smell whatsoever. I estimate the unit was operating at 50% and was doing a far better job than a 3kW rc air conditioner plus a… Read more

2kW electric fan heater.

Even at 100% (25 MJ/hr) a 45kg LPG bottle (2,200 MJ) will last 88 hrs. It costs $110 per refill, which is $1.25/hr to run compared to $2.40/hr for 5kW of electricity between 2pm and 8pm. Natural gas is even cheaper. It's a no brainier. I should have purchased the 25Plus. That would give me the option of running the electric heater during off peak times at $0.10/kWh.

As for the smell the products of combustion of propane are CO2, and H2O, both are odourless. If you smell gas the mixture is wrong (too much propane and not enough oxygen) or you're burning dirty gas and you're smelling NOX and SOX. In any case if it smells bring it back and get it fixed. It's dangerous.

As for overheating, I suspect the room is too small. Under thermostatic control it will not turn off. Instead it will drop to its minimum output of 8.5 MJ/hr which is more than a 2kW electric heater running flat out all the time. That might be too much for a small or very well insulated room.

Excellent product – very quiet, warm and stylish. Love the remote on /off option. This was a 2nd hand purchase running on LPG but hardly used. Found the user manual online. Our home is very open plan with many levels and we live mid north coast od NSW, really warms up. Owned Rinnai before.  Show details

Toasty – I love the heat and cost efficiency of this product. I would prefer to have a more modern looking version and am looking to upgrade for aesthetic reasons but this appliance has served my family well for 10 years. We have a large 4 bedroom house with high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows, which means we require heat efficiency. Electricity is too expensive and an open fireplace inconvenient. This is the perfect solution for a busy family.  Show details ·  1

Just Awesome – OMG our new heater is the best investment that we have bought for a long time, so cozy warm. I have 4 dogs and sometimes it is hard to get a spot in front of the heater, but really we don't need to because the whole room heats up. We put the timer on and it is nice and toasty warm when we come home on a blistery cold day, its so warm that sometimes we just sit there in a t shirt and shorts and it is still warm.  Show details ·  1

Cheap to run and reliable – We brought this heater to heat a large room and we haven't been disappointed. We live in a cold climate, but this heater is incredibly cheap to run and has not missed a beat. Only complaint I would have is that i've lost the remote control and I can't seem to get a replacement.  Show details ·  1

The Best Invention Ever – After having a wood fire for years the purchase of this Gas Heater is amazing. Instant heat being fan forced warms the area fast. Living in the hills where winter gets to freezing the convenience of instant heat is wonderful. I also dry my clothes in front of it which is a bonus as there is no flame and safe for children with a child lock. … Read more

The remote gives me the choice while watching TV to adjust the heat and turn off when going to bed. I highly recommend this heater as it is well worth the high cost that pays for itself in the long run. regards Ann

BEST GAS HEATER IN THE MARKET – We have a average size loungeroom (50sqm) which where the heater is located. All I can is AMAZING the loungeroom heats up within minutes. We left it on all night last winter with the 2kw fan didn't not use the ducted aircon once. Purchasing this heater may not be cheap (costed us $1400 at binglee) but it certainly almost cut our power bills by 50%. HIGHLY recommended.
