We have 3 of these rinnai energy saver 1004FDT gas heaters 2 of them are not turning on, the function lock light is on , why isn’t it turning on?

Hi Andrew V,

To Deactivate the LOCK simply press the LOCK button (7) for 3 seconds and the LOCK indicator will go out. The LOCK can be deactivated at any time in this way.

My heater turns off after an hour and has to be turned back on... is there a way to turn this function off? I've had plumbers and everything not know how to do it

I have seen a flash suddenly appear on the outside wall directly behind the 1004FDT rinnai unit I’m not too familiar with this unit, but it has what looks like a 150 mm diameter exhaust on that wall and given its location I think that’s where the flame , flash came from Is this normal to occur?

I have got a code 11 in my Rinnai energy saver 1004FTR model. What does it mean

Hi Roger C, Thanks for the question. Error code 11 indicated Ignition failure, it is a safety shutdown for the unit if the heater does not ignite within a certain time frame. Check gas supply is turned ‘ON’ Turn Heater ‘OFF’ then ‘ON’ again

If the heater fails to reignite a service call may be required.

Why does the Rinnai 1004FTR not cut out at all at night, yet does during the day when on economy set at 21. The heater was installed a few years ago professionally but has still cont'd to do this, advised air too cold at night, huh? Q, were/are the installers talking nonsense?

Hi Jon M, There could be a number of factors causing this to happen and outside air temperature and heat loss may be one. We would recommend calling our technical help desk on 1300 555 545 option 3 and they can run through some trouble shooting with you.

WE HAVE TWO 1004FTR heaters. In the last month they ran an average of 9 hours a day at 18-21 degrees. Bill shock this month with a bill for 363.5 litres. does this usage sound correct. We haven't been home for winter since installing the units. Chris G

Thanks for the question, the gas input for for the Rinnai Energysaver 1004FDT is 37MJ's when running on high and 11MJ's when running on low.

How expensive is this to run ?

I don't really have much to compare how expensive it is to run. My last heater didn't have a timer or a thermostat. Because this heater has these features means that the heater only runs when you want it to. So the house isn't excessively hot (because you set the temperature you want), and I liked that the heater came on in the morning so the house was nice and toasty (because of the timer).
