Hi Luke, thanks for the question, the Rinnai smartStart is designed to work in conjunction with the Rinnai range of hot water units. They are not tested or recommended for use with other brands,

Thanks

How much gas does smart start consume. I am on bottled gas (LPG) which is rather expensive.

Hi. I have a Rinnai Infinity REU - VRM2626WG-AK and a Rinnai Smart start - REU-CUG1 installed together. My client wants the pump to run continuously, keeping the hot water loop hot 24/7. Although in the service manual (page 8) sais it is possible, without controllers, it does not describe how to set it up. How can I make this work?

HI Over the past few days the water temperature has been fluctuating and is not getting anywhere near the temperature it should be. Usually we have showers at about 40-41 degrees however even at 50 degrees the temperature is barely warm. Have also noticed on one controller that the red light does not light up at all when the en-suite shower is on. There are also two taps linked to that controller and when they are on the red light comes on but the water get hot for a brief period then gets cooler. Any ideas?

Thanks for the question Mathew D, it sounds like the unit will need a service call, it is hard to diagnose the issue without inspection. You can book through our service team on 1300 555 545.

I'd like to get the Rinnai Infinity 26 Smartstart installed. Does anyone know if there is a model that you can get hotter water into the Kitchen and Laundry, with the 50degree limit into the bathroom and ensuite?

Hi danablue3, Thank you for your enquiry. To achieve hotter water for kitchen / laundry using a Smartstart system will require the purchase of a factory set 60o C Infinity Water Heater and a separate Smartstart Pre-Heat System (REUCUG1). If you require further information please feel free to contact our Sales team on 1300 555 545 and select option 1.

We are exploring choices with replacing our gasHWS. Attracted to the continuous flow idea ( and the pipe preheat function). But we have quite regular electricity blackouts. Will unit still supply hot water on these occasions? Many thanks from Kath Abbott

The answer is: NO.
It needs a working electricity supply in order to ignite the gas burner.
No mains power means no hot water.

Thanks! It really gets back to a standard HWS with no frills then for any area with dodgy power supplies.

If you use a UPS (uninterrupted power supply) to supply the hot water system then you can get uninterrupted Hot Water. There is not a huge power load on Instantaneous Gas Heaters so a system that computers have will do it (just check the wattage draw of your unit when selecting a UPS) Some people cover their Modems as well as the heaters so they continue to have internet as well.
