Had a burst pipe this afternoon and called Ruttley services from a magnet i got in the mail. They were so helpful over the phone and attended within the hour. Priced fairly and efficient. Highly recommend for anyone needing a plumber around Highlands area. Show reply

As a retired plumber myself I can confirm these guys do work that is high quality and they do provide a good service I had Sean out last week and he did a great job on installing taps I’ve worked in the industry my whole life and many of places I’ve worked at may charge less but unfortunately tend to do dodgy jobs or go out of business but… Read more
that’s just my experience anyway Ruttley is not the cheapest no but not the most expensive. In my opinion you get what you pay for and more and I’m happy I went with them and will be recommending them Thank you Sean and rest of team for the good job done

received but their team were much better to deal with, quicker service and their warranties are better too so I was more comfortable going with them. They fixed it the same day which was a big help especially with young kids needing showers in this cold. Very glad I went with them and to have hot water back. I’d use them again thank you. – Didi
Several thousand dollars to change a few safety switches. Unnecessary work too! See the photo of my switchboard. options varying between $2300 and $2700. I said at the time those amounts were at least double what I was expecting. I then phoned a local service here in Gerringong. He asked not to be identified because he doesn’t need more work. There was no charge for his estimate of $400. He came two days later, job done, asked for $320. I gave him $350. I will not recommend Ruttleys.
Follow-up · The local plumber did clean up: tap quality is normal: installation took less than 2 hours. Please note this work was done by a local plumber, not Ruttleys. Ruttleys are a company I will never recommend.

I was charged $869.30 for a job that took less than a half hour. The guy who did it kept standing in my personal space as he spoke to me. There was no explanation for why it cost so much. call out charge, but they charged for the call out anyway. When I rang their office to question the charge I was told that it was "standard". So this means they charge around $1500 an hour as standard. Surgeons and lawyers don't charge that kind of money. Any other plumber will do the same job for far less money. If you use Ruttley you are wasting your money. Get another plumber.

I paid $330 for an emergency call out fee today to inspect and potentially replace an instant hot water system. Plumber arrived as planned but wanted to charge $4700 to replace a 20Litre unit claiming that it was weekend rates. costs between $900-$1200. They claim they don’t use cheaper Rheem units from Bunnings. However what’s wrong with Rheem as a manufacturer? Are their products defective? Doubt it! After speaking with a reliable plumber the Rheem unit was purchase from Bunnings for $933 and was easily installed in 15mins. Hot water is running perfectly. So we missed a bullet. So be careful. Ruttleys are expensive and question how they can charge customers unrealistic prices.

Very Expensive - do your research first. I needed a simple job done to install a pre-purchased toilet cistern (replacing a much older failed one) During my preliminary investigations thru Bunnings and Googling I could see an estimate of between $150 - $250 was the market rate. they insisted that someone had to see the job directly and I could not send photos for an estimate.
On the agreed day for the quote - a few days later - I had barely shown the representative what I wanted and had purchased and I was being up sold to a more expensive couple of options.
I declined the up selling and was given 3 quotes:
$571 for the simple job - but market rate is as I have posted above. $990 for cheaper full replacement toilet & installation $2,500 for a Caroma Luna (which retails at about $795) & installation.
Very expensive - so declined all options and sent the plumber away.
A couple of weeks later - I had the job done for $154 - and arranged the quote by emailing photos for an estimate.
The second plumber who installed the cistern explained that Ruttley plumbers can quote what they like and above a floor price they split the difference 50/50 with the company. (As I had suspected)

provided the taps or $1324 if we provided. So effectively $1324 for 1 1/2 hrs of labour. Crazy! Was so disillusioned I did the job myself in less than 2 hours and it wasn't really that difficult. Bought a mixer with a 20 yr warranty from Tradelink as well as two WM taps and a couple of washers for a total of $125. Just a little better than the $2040 as per quote. HOW DO THESE PEOPLE SLEEP AT NIGHT??? GET A COUPLE OF QUOTES PEOPLE! REMEMBER IF YOUR GUT TELLS YOU IT'S TOO EXPENSIVE THEN IT PROBABLY IS!

Responsive but fixed issues that werent faulty - and charged for it – Toilet needed a new inlet valve. It took 3 visits to fix and on the third they changed the inlet valve (having first changed everything else). Bill amounted to $1000 - I initially asked them to change the inlet valve but they insisted that wasn't the problem - they were wrong

Overpriced Company – Needed a plumber could not get hold of a couple of local guys so tried Rutley (first time) booked them in and tech arrived quickly (couple of days) done the job of toilet install only as old already removed and was a clean site. quote $641) Took tech 1 1/2 hrs to complete works all good. Spoke with office later as invoice details were incorrect as they stated removal of existing toilet so I figured they quoted wrong. Wrong!! they said it was a typo error only but price was still the same and would not budge. Lesson learnt read the estimate first!!!! before accepting. I will not be recommending this company to any of my clients for any future works or recommendations, I will stick with the smaller guys who would charge a reasonable rate (I am a tradie myself and if I charged like these guys I would not get very much work) also so much for their $60 discount for having one of their magnets, got only $54.55 off (GST I presume) so magnet is in the bin!! Ridiculously high quote – Quite astonishing quote from these guys. $6k to fit a water pipe and convert a bbq gas lead. I honestly thought it was a joke. Very poor communication from the customer service – [Name Removed] provided the excellent leaking tap service on 20th October, though it's expensive just under $900.00. I advised her that I only needed [Name Removed] to write the report of the leaking job he provided. And I made clear that the Tap is working perfectly and [Name Removed] does not need to come to the site for the report. she then advised that she still needed [Name Removed] to check the site for the purpose of report at no cost. This morning [Name Removed] came and missed me, i called back, advised [Name Removed] that I only expected [Name Removed] as the lady from last week who insisted for site check which is not necessary. I asked if that was you. [Name Removed] said that could be any one in the office. I tried to explain my last week conversation. She started talking over while i tried to explain. She said it was her arranged for today site visit. I concern of having [Name Removed] to check things that i did not ask for, like water pressure, then job for pressure valve installation. As i could not get my concern through to her, instead, talking over me, i asked if i could speak to the manager or the business owner to have better understanding of my needs. Emergency call – Electrical circuit out, solved by Michael over the phone. He took me through all the steps, explained how to check at each stage, and with several calls and messages we sorted it together. All on a Sunday morning, and NO charge. Outrageous quote – I called Ruttley, because a toilet they had repaired a leak on about 12 months ago was leaking again. That repair cost around $500. I received a receipt but not an itemised account. Expensive quote – Didnt go ahead, so cant rate the full end to end service but, was quoted $3,200 to install a new water heater. There was no breakdown or negotiations and given you can buy the heater for $1,000 represented a hefty cost to install. I went with someone else and, for the guy who installed it, it was a straight swap and was completed in around a hour and a half for $1600. Even that was probably on the high side!.
