I have the 900 pump connected to a tiny house that has a pressure reducing fitting (500kpa?). The pump is connected to a water tank that is about 70m away I use 1 1/2 inch pipe with a 1 inch line for the last few meters to the pump.

The pipe will build up pressure (I have tested the outlet pipe but does not get beyond the pressure fitting ie no water anywhere in the the house.

I think the pressure out of the pup may be too high?. I have tried to adjust the head but I cannot reduce using the menu/display combination: it just increases the head: now at about 27M! How to you reset this or reduce it ?

Any help appreciated David

< it nousser umCan someone please tell me how the menu and display buttons work?

I have the virtually same setup as you and was about to buy that pump until i read this. So i asked Ryobi what the cut-in and cut out pressure settings are because nowhere in Spec or on box or pump is that vital info. Ryobi Aus contacted the factory in China who said about 22psi Cut-in and 60 psi cut-out. I emailed back saying this is unlikely to be right. Usually pumps have a 20psi difference between cutin and cutout. Eg they are 40-60,or 30-50psi etc. So a low 22psi for cut-in would cause low water pressure and flow consistency issues. They again checked and china confirmed about 22 cut in. If anyone has this ryobi model and is able to test the cutin and cutoff psi pressures could you please post it here.

Hi, brand new pump installed a few weeks ago. Goes for 10secs then pressure cuts for a second or two, then goes back to full pressure. This stops happening when the taps inside are run at full pressure. My plumber can’t figure out what’s wrong, the old pump didn’t have this issue. The manual is a waste of space as well. Should I go get my money back & get a different brand or is there a solution? Definitely won’t recommend this pump to others. Thanks

Mine is doing the same now. I ended up getting another one and it does the same. Seems like a lot of people have that problem. I fixed it for a while and went to the old fashioned nozzle that lets a lot of flow of water but that did the same after a while.

Easy to get your money back at Bunnings. I just talked a mate into the bit cheaper Ozito pump. It is going all right but he has not had it long.

WOULD BE GOOD FOR RYOBI TO COMMENT ON THIS PROBLEM.

Have you sorted yours out?

My Ryobi pressure pump turns on for about 10 seconds every few minutes. I don't know what's wrong with it but its running up my power bill. I've pressure tested the pipe - no leaks. It runs two garden taps and three toilets. The toilets don't leak into the bowls and the taps don't leak either. I just don't understand what is causing the problem. Any ideas?

Just interested have you fixed the problem. If no leaks it is time to get it replaced under warranty. If it still does it I'd say the problem is with your system. There is an air bleeder on the side. I guess you opened that a bit.? Also register online with Ryobi and you get extra warranty.

New Ryobi RCPP900-D constant pressure pump Pump set up with 50mm inlet and outlet lines. I followed the Owners Operating Manual page 2 LCD operation and cannot get the screen to return to normal operation after setting the head height. The value for the head height flashes, but when I press and hold the Menu nothing happens. What am I not doing or doing incorrectly? Dean H

Hi, I'm wondering if anyone else has had this problem, my pump starts up and runs for about 15 seconds or so, then stops for 2+ seconds, then starts again for 15 seconds and stops again, the tank and the pump are both at ground level and the pump is about 2 metres from the tank, and this goes on constantly. Thanks in advance ??

I'd hope someone else would answer but not too many people around here. I do not like saying this but looks like you need to replace it. You can try different settings on the LED screen but that did not help my different problem.

Mine goes for 10 seconds and then stops for a half a second. The water flow drops a bit but does not stop. That is caused by the outlet pipe/hose/tap etc being too restrictive. I went to a better old style flowing nozzle on the hose and all was good.

If not hard to do just have the big outlet hose connected and see if it is different. And also I guess the inlet needs not to be too small from the tank. Do you have the full size hose hose and connections from the tank to the pump?

The strainer part needs to be sitting right but if you have not taken it out it still should be good.

If all fails just return it and get a receipt. If you register the pump on the Ryobi site you get 4 years warranty.

Hope all comes good.

OK thanks Firepower, the hose from the tank is a 19mm id. but the hose from the pump to the tap is just a normal size garden hose size, so I will replace that hose with a bigger one and see how that goes, Cheers

How did you go? Did you fix the problem?

Agro21

Hey mate, no it didn't but I put it down to the fact that this only happens when I use it for watering my vegie patch with small little nozzles that put out a fine spray and I'm guessing the pump thinks it is a leak somewhere, because if I just use a normal hose this doesn't happen, so I just put up with it, but one thing good that came from the bigger pipe is it gave more water flow. Cheers mate.

My new water pump 900w constant pressure pump comes on 3 or 4 times after turning off the tap! I reset the “head” at lowest pressure etc but still comes on as if there is a leak? Yet I have pressure tested the line and there is no drop in pressure? Any suggestions?

I bought the pressure system for the house and the water in the shower disappears then comes on hot then cold. now the system is constantly running on and off all day and night. It is only a few weeks old

Hope someone else can help but I found quite a few places where air is getting into your intake line like the following comment. I guess the pump strainer is sitting in right and not blocked. "Air leaks into the system Because air is leaking somewhere into the pump, it is unable to build up full pressure, and therefore cannot reach its deactivation pressure level. Result: the booster pump runs nonstop. Solution: check all the hoses / pipes for holes, and seal them."

I bought the pump 9 months ago and been using it with a hose reel and Holman WiFi timer taps. I found I had to buy the old type of nozzle or it restricted the flow too much and the pump stopped for half a second and started again every 8 seconds. All has been going great on my two taps but they both have started again stopping momentarily every 8 seconds. I checked my pump lines and checked the filters in the pump and the Holman timer taps. I also removed the hose reel and the Holman taps and just used a short piece of hose. The water goes a very long way but still momentarily stops every 8 seconds.

Anyone help with this problem?

EDIT: I got a replacement pump and it has been working good for one month. Hope it keeps going.

Hi I have bought this pump as a replacement. Can you tell me how to set up this pump. I want it to connect to the house, two toilets and washing machine. I don't want it on a timer. The book is not user friendly for this situation.

I was hoping someone else would answer you but guess not too many hear to answer. Ryobi are very good at answering but may take a couple of days. The email contacts are at the bottom of this page. external link

How long is your pipe from the pump to the tap and I suppose about the diameter of the normal house copper pipe? So you are saying if you turn the tap off the pump never stops.

I forget all about the adjustment of the pump on the screen as it has been a while since I got mine and do not want to touch it, as it is going great. I have mine going into a tap about 4 metres from the pump then into a garden hose going under the ground down the side of the house to the front of the house. This goes to another tap on the wall and then to a large garden hose reel.

Mine pump keeps running for about 9 seconds after I turn off the water at the hose nozzle.

All the best with it.

I had the same issue. Actually pump was working initially and out of a sudden it turned off while using it a day after installation. After restarting it the pressure switch did no longer work - so it did its 3 "dry run" cycles till it went on error again. There is one thing you have to check and that is that this filter cap is tight on as it pushes the valve at the bottom in place - odd design. The valve prevents the back flow and holds the pressure. Anyway - this did not turn out to be the issue but after one day when we just turned the power off and on to get water, it just started working again. I must say that I do not trust this pump and think it is not good for household water supply.

Hi, I’ve just purchased this product and it doesn’t shut off. I’ve looked at the timer. But that doesn’t help in my situation. I need constant water to my house but don’t want to hear a pump cutting in and out every 20 seconds. I understand it should work whilst im running water but it shouldn’t be going whilst there’s no water running right?

Firepower
Firepower

When I turn off at the hose nozzle it keeps running for 9 seconds. If you have a longer hose/pipe from the pump to the tap it would run longer before switching off. I had the opposite problem until I realised what it was. I have a Holman wifi tap timer and using that with the fancy trigger hose nozzles it restricted the water too much and when the hose was on the pump would go off and on every 8 seconds which is not too good for the pump. So I have bought a old type when you turn the front of the nozzle on it to adjust the flow. It is a blue and white Nylex nozzle and also has a on/off trigger. This works good. Another problem I had there was rubbish in the Holman timer filter between the tap and Holman timer. Once I cleaned that it was good. So is your pipe from the pump to the pump to the tap really long and it takes quite a while to build up pressure and turn the pump off. You can adjust the pump with the buttons and lcd screen but I suppose you have done that, Holman Customer Service is really good so you could message them. All the best with it.

I bought this pump for my garden but it delivers too much water! Is there any way I can reduce the output to, say, 1000 litres per hour. I can't use it as it is - it would empty my tank in less than 1 hour!

Firepower
Firepower

That just means that you can water your garden quicker. Not many complain about that. :) In my photos above I have the pump going into taps so for less water I could just turn the tap off a bit. Also the Holman wifi tap timers are great as they are designed that they are always on a timer and I now do not waste water. You need good wifi for them to work good but they also sell a Bluetooth one that works from a mobile phone. They also restrict the flow a bit.

So I am not sure what you have. Maybe your hose goes straight onto the pump. From a quick look at the manual it appears you can adjust the flow rate and there is a timer. When I first bought the pump I checked out the buttons and LCD screen but it seemed to be confusing even with the instructions.

With adjusting the flow rate on the LCD screen it still may not be low enough pressure for you. You could put an inline water valve to reduce the pressure. Maybe you could have maybe a metre of hose from the pump and put in a inline water valve which are cheap. You'll need a few fittings to put it in the hose. If you restrict the water too much the pump will stop and start all the time and that is not what you want to happen.

Also is there a simple solution with an adjustable nozzle. There are lots of water adjustable nozzles from the old fashioned screw ones to the gun types. Some gun types you can set the level of spray. Maybe this suits you and all I needed to mention.

But remember do not restrict the water too much as it will cause the pump to stop and start all the time which would not be good for the pump. But as far as I can see it is a great pump and much cheaper than ones from Irrigation Shops.
