Had Eddie come out to fix a dodgy plumbing job from another plumber years before and couldn't be any more pleased with the service. Very professional and very friendly attitude. Had no problems explaining to us what he could do to fix it and got straight into it without any problems whatsoever. Definitely satisfied with the end result. Thanks again Eddie. Used this business in January 2026 to clear sewer pipes. Under impression they cleared whole pipe and I'd have no problems. Was even under impression they would reline whole sewer pipe especially with quote over $9000. Last week sewer blocks up. Called them and after hours they couldn't clear it and they want over $13000 to fix sewer again? Got a plumber round today cleared sewer in 10 minutes. Do not trust this business

unblock the drain, which I immediately declined, as I had quotes from other plumbers, quoting $200-450 max (with camera and water jet). But because the technician was already there, I asked whether there was a cheaper option, and he suggested using a chemical treatment, he said it was much cheaper option. I agreed to the chemical treatment believing it was a much cheaper alternative. I did not see or knowingly approve a $720 quote before the work was carried out.
Only when I came home and opened my emails, I saw the email from S&J Plumbing and Gas, with the quote - apparently the technician emailed me the quote when we were onsite, but did not tell me about it! I did not open, read or approve that emailed quote. Instead, while onsite, the technician presented me with an IPad showing a blank screen with a place for me to sign. The $720 price and quote were not displayed to me on that screen. I signed without understanding that my signature would apparently be treated as acceptance of a $720 quote that I had never seen (minus $89 first customer discount the Company advertise on their website to fool customers into paying super high charges they have).
The actual work took 12-15 minutes (I have prove that it was not longer than that), and the technician was off at 15.03pm. The technician used a plunger and poured one bottle of chemical drain treatment down the drain! That was it for $631 - there was no water jetting, mechanical drain cleaning or camera inspection, the basic non-urgent job during business hours.
Had the technician clearly told me, “This chemical treatment will cost $720,” I would never have agreed to it, particularly after I had just rejected the $900 jetting option because it was too expensive. After seeing the quote, I contacted the company immediately after discovering how much I had been charged. The admin lady told me that she will report my concerns and my request for the charge to be reduced and a partial refund provided. Ok, I have made an error engaging S&J, but why I have been charged at the higher end of this company price list for 30minutes of technician's time and bottle of chemical liquid? The admin lady said that S&J charges for unblocking drains are from $500-900. So to me the fair (but still inflated) charge for this service would be $500-$89=$411. Still this is far more expensive, comparable to other plumber, who quoted $200- $450 (the top tier is for using jet and camera)
The admin lady has said that a manager would call me back. I have now followed up three times and no manager has called me back.
After this experience, I have read other Google reviews for this Company - I wish we had read those reviews before calling S&J! - multiple customers reporting concerns about very high charges for relatively simple jobs, and also reporting that no one calls back when they complain.
We are now putting the dispute in writing and, if it is not resolved, intend to lodge a complaint with the Queensland Office of Fair Trading.
Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this company, stay away.

Nick and Josh did a great job at our place. Dealt with the many issues we’d outlined and were accommodating when we thought of another issue when they were on-site and gave us multiple options to fix it.
Easy to deal with and made an effort to finish the job on time. You get what you paid for! Will recommend to family and friends/neighbours.
Guy had to get a bigger ladder but nicely done. Quoted good price. They threw in free checks for my roof to see if all compliant and safe. Definitely will call again.
Excellent and competent plumbing service – Prompt and excellent service. Our plumber, Ryan was very competent and courteous and the job done with a minimum of fuss. Didn't miss in the fee department but that's par for the course. Absolutely would use again.

I was charged $842.66 for replacing a single valve, which after researching local Brisbane pricing seems significantly higher than normal for this type of repair. The invoice was not itemised beyond “Supply and Install Expansion Control Valve 15mm”, so there was no clear breakdown for labour, callout or parts. I would strongly recommend getting multiple quotes and asking for a detailed price breakdown before approving work.
Follow-up · They supplied the valve. The cost was not clearly explained upfront. There was an allowance for potential work on the roof, but there was no discount at the end when the job appeared to be very easy and straight-forward. A standard warranty was provided verbally—something like, 'If there's an issue, just call us and we'll fix it for you.'"
Edward, was AMAZING. Terrific to have in the phone. He did everything to locate and fix the problem, which was successful. We have just recommended S and J Plumbing and Edward, to another tradie looking for a plumber.
Follow-up · The job was done in a very reasonable time. Edward, quickly, located the problem (blocked kitchen drain). The cost was reasonable for the result which brought relief to the owners.

The care these guys took with the job is very professional, I really appreciate their time because Addisen spent extra effort to clean the site to a high standard. Thank you so much. Great plumber and nice guy, terrible price. I was charged $780 for 30 minutes work to replace two tap spindles which I provided. Sean said it would take 'a couple of hours'. Steer clear if you're after value for money.
Over pricing. They won't give quote before they come onsite. End up $480 for a water efficient certificate for a 1 bathroom, 2 toilet, 1 kitchen small townhouse.
Arrived on time. Price quoted was outrageous however accepted the job. Over $600 to supply and fit 2 $50 pressure relief valves to a hot water tank. Job took around 20 minutes. Won't use them again

thermostat was fine but wasn't activating as the water in the tank was already at temperature (that's how a thermostat works!!). Sent me an $600 bill for multiple plumbers visits and electricians visit to replace a $20 part that took about 15 minutes actual work. Worst plumber Ive ever used in over 60 years. Avoid like the plague. Dishonest staff and company.
Update 16/9/25. I refused to pay the full bill of $600. After multiple calls from various levels of management i was sent a revised bill of $300 as i informed them i would pay no more than this. I paid this bill then received another call from management offering to refund my $300 if i deleted this negative review and changed my rating to 3-4 stars. I agreed to update my review with these latest developments and change my rating to 3 stars. You make up your own mind about this sort of behavior from a professional services company. enquiry. The job was to locate and fix a leak in the upper story bathroom. Ryan came out to access the leak and called prior to the arrival to let us know he was 15 mins away he was on time. He communicated clear to my wife who was home at the time, what he was going to do and when asked called me to further explain. As the job required parts to be ordered in he presented a few options and recommendations and allowed my wife to choose a replacement that suited our needs. Jacob was the plumber to install and fix a couple of days later as the parts were ordered in once again on time, rang before arrival. and communicated clearly. I was home this time and he communicated when he needed to turn the water off. He encountered an issue and came up with a solution without delay. Once the job was done he left the room looking just as clean as it when he started. S and J plumbing are professionals and I'll recommend them any chance that I get.
