Safety 1st Sentinel II

Excellent – Easy to install, secures very tightly in each of our 3 cars. Used a mat specifically for the purpose in cars with leather. Child nearly 36 months has never complained about comfort and isn't inclined to opening the buckle so no issue there. Overall great for the price. Less one star due to CREP rating for forward facing, these seats will be… Read more
relegated to rearward facing with infant and 36m old will get new seats with a better forward facing rating.
our first baby seat – This seat is by far well worth its money, its very comfortable and perfect for new born upto 4yrs, its very secure and adjusts to suit, has rear facing and forward facing options, multiple adjustable settings, our son loves it and with its large head supports and safety features we know he is safe
Very happy with it – We're so happy with the seat. My daughter is nearly 16 months old and still rear facing as she hasn't reached the shoulder level. It's easy to install, I did follow YouTube instructions from Safety 1st though. My daughter is comfortable in it, never had an issue. Once you learn how to adjust it becomes routine and super easy.
Love it, secure and baby is very comfortable – We have had this seat since our bub was born and he is now 10 months old still rear facing. The seat is very easy to install and to move from car to car if needed. Our bub is very tall for his age and sits comfortably with plenty of leg space and is cuddled nicely. The cover is easy to remove and washes well. The stabilizer arm is fine, he has never been hurt by it and the straps are very easy to tighten and loosen. Love this seat
Love it! – This seat is fantastic! We have had the Sentinal I I since my 2.5 year old was a newborn. He is always comfortable in it (regularly going to sleep in it), it is incredibly easy to adjust the straps and we have zero movement of the seat in our car. Very happy with our purchase. Show reply
Worst seat ever – Very awkward seat, my baby is so uncomfortable that he wants to vomit when he is put in it. Hard to find the lever to loosen the straps. The seat moves alot when we go round corners or over speed bumps, had it checked because I thought there was a fault but was told its just like that. Can't be safe! :(
Not all its cracked up to be – I initially thought this seat was ok when in the rearward facing position. I do however agree with a lot of other posters about the stabiliser bar. It is very poorly designed and cuts/scratches the baby's feet. I also find that the seat moves too much, even the professional that installed it concurred that this is an issue with these seat. … Read more
Since facing this seat forward I hate it and don't feel that it anywhere near safe enough. The straps do not tighten nowhere near as much as they should, no matter how much you try to tighten them they have too much slack. The seat move around too easily no matter how tightly you try to secure it in place, this cannot be good in an accident scenario. The buckle is very easy to undo and I also find it doesn't always secure in place properly, even if you hear the "click" sound that the manufacturer advises. All in all I am very disappointed with this seat and am replacing it as I strongly feel that it is not safe enough and will not protect my child enough in an accident.
Incredibly unsafe and uncomfortable – This seat is terrible. We've only had it a few months but the harness release button is so easy to press that my not-quite-two year old can undo it. A few days ago she unstrapped herself without my knowledge. When we pulled away from the lights, her body fell forward and she got a massive bruise on her head from the stabilizer bar. I think she's… Read more
actually less safe in this car seat than she would be with just a seat belt. I called the place I bought it from and their solution was "tell her not to do it". Obviously they've never met a toddler.
The seat also sits very upright (like straight up at 90 degrees) in some cars because the top tether is too short, which makes it very uncomfortable for her to sit in. The stabilization bar digs into her feet. It's really just an awful design all round.
Not reliable – My child get her arms off the straps, although I fasten them as tight as possible. It is very dangerous, specially when you are driving and your child is alone in the back seat. It also needs to incline more, because when my daughter falls asleep, her head moves forward.
A car seat that grows with your child! – Our daughter one year old has used this since birth and has recently turned round to forward facing and loves it. I like how it grows with your child and their needs and has measurements to help you know when your little one is ready for the next step. The safety first Sentinel ll is Very easy to install and lift her in and out of. It's safe and… Read more · 1
secure with extra padding for a newborn keeping them cosy and comfortable and comes apart to clean. We have one for my car and one for my husbands work car and with a new baby due in a few weeks we shall get her one as well!
Beware of stabilising arm causing cuts to feet! – Very angry and disappointed as the stabilising arm on this baby seat has cut our 4 1/2 months old baby boys foot today. It is over 5cm long! I immediately rang Dorel Australia Pty Ltd, I was amazed when they advised (supposedly) there have been no other incidents recorded...? Upon closer inspection of the stabiliser arm, it is evident this is a… Read more
manufacturing default; as the stabilising arm is not a smooth plastic mould, instead it is the hollow mould side that faces towards the babies feet. This will no doubt create other problems in terms of your babies toes and webbing being cut as there are crevices and edges on the arm facing towards the baby when in the rearward position. I would anticipate a safety recall in the near future regarding this defect, which Dorel Australia Pty Ltd have no solution for at this present time...disappointed!
Not as great as it seemed – We brought this seat when I was pregnant as it looked the safest on the market for the price! Now my son is in it I think I should've gone for the infasecure Neon! The stabiliser bar is rough and was also told put a pillow case over it as my son cuts his feet on it! Ummm anything extra added to a car seat is extremely dangerous and this advice… Read more
come from the manufacturer! My son screamed in the seat from the second car trip, we tried everything but I felt this hard but in the back of the seat where it was digging into his back, so we took it to Dorel and they replaced the inside part saying I must have pulled on it when trying to wash it? I hadn't even washed it let alone pull at it!! Could this be a faulty seat? The padded straps are stupid as it annoys bubs little face and the belt can't go as tight as it should safely. Also one strap is looser then the other and I'm not confident with that so changing seats. I'm not happy with the customer service either when calling to tell them these issues I got told to buy the other insert so baby isn't so hot. We have the black seat (night) and my son sweats so much. They couldn't even offer to replace the insert and I would have to spend $60 just to change it. Won't buy another product by Dorel!
Good but not good – We've been using this car seat for 7 months now. My only concern is that I noticed that this car seat does not draw moisture and making the back of my daughter wet during summer. It's good in winter and I think it's built to stay in a cold weather.

Couldn't Fault it!!! – A wonderful seat easy and simple to use. Easy to adjust height of shoulder straps as well as adjust from rear to forward facing. Appears to be very comfortable with lots of padding & Bub falls asleep quite easily which is great as we live out of town and do a fair bit of driving as well as travelling to see family. Can remain rearward facing to at least 12 for average heighted child as well and will do us for years no need to change.
Great safety – This car seat was on the pricey side at $420 bought by a family member for us. However, is a really good looking seat and really looks like it will protect the baby from harm in the event of a crash. Hopefully won't be testing that theory out though. It has fantastic padding for both comfort and safety with the side wings. And fits well in a compact back seat car.
Sentinel II Convertible Car Seat! – I have been using the Sentinel II from approx. 3 months with my daughter who is now 2. It has been a simple to use car seat for both myself and my partner whilst keeping with great features and quality. The sentinel II is suited from birth to approx. 4 years old and has high height markers for rearward facing to 12 months. Currently my average… Read more
sized 2-year-old still fits rear facing. The head restraint adjust with ease which also adjusts the harness so no fiddling required to adjust height of the harness. It also has two position recline so that you can get a good fit in your car when forward facing. The price is very budget friendly (RRP $399) and now includes crash replacement in the event of an accident!
If you are looking for a convertible car seat that is high quality, easy to use and won't break the bank then the Safety 1st Sentinel II is for you!

OK car seat BUT.....Pls read – Ok, so the biggest problem is the stabilizer bar when its rear facing, my 11 month old has extremely bad eczema and her feet touch the very uncomfortable and sharp plastic of the stabilizer bar, so she has deep scratches on her feet! Who ever engineered this was not good at their job, bad design. I contacted the manufacturer and they told me to… Read more
put a pillow case over it, which I had already done. Great advice guys! Have replied to the company a few more times with no response, I'm not too happy with the design so please mothers, look at it first carefully before you purchase as I don't recommend it, such a silly design flaw.
not buying from this manufacturer again
Love it!!!! – This car seat is amazing!! Never getting a different one if I have another baby. You don't have to take the car seat out of the car when you need to adjust the height of the seat as your baby grows, very good head support, lots of padding Highly recommended
Perfect Car Seat – Very happy with our Safety 1st car seat, have recommended it to friends already. We felt very safe bringing our baby home from the hospital, and six months on he still looks very comfortable and secure. Its one of his favourite places to fall asleep! The fabric is lovely and soft but still easy to clean, we just use a wet wipe and it still looks… Read more
in perfect condition. When we had it installed the guy said we had made a great choice which was reassuring, its what he recommends as it stays in place really well over time so very safe. The height adjuster is very easy to use, you don't need to undo all the straps like others. I also really like that it came with the seat protector, great value. Definitely recommend.
Highly recommended carseat for your kids! – Great, safe and low maintenance car seat. It would appear to be super comfortable as well as our infant and toddler fall fast asleep in their seats quite easily! My favourite features include the large padded straps, which helps prevent frustrating strap twists and minimals overlapping pieces makes it a breeze to keep clean without the need to… Read more
pull apart. A simple vacuum and wipe down does the trick! Highly recommend for the safety of your children!
Love it! – This seat is great! Its the second car seat I've purchased and it seems very comfy compared to my other car seat. Its easy to install and adjust the shoulder strap height. Its also very compact. A little bit expensive but I shopped around and got it delivered for $100 cheaper than in the baby shops.
Best under $400 – I did a LOT of shopping around this car seat is simply the best around under $400..I paid $299 on special at Baby Bunting and it is great.

Comfy baby chair – I have found this chair excellent. I like the fact that it is rear facing suitable for bubs up to one year old. My bub has fallen asleep in the chair every time we go for a drive longer than 10 mins. The fabric is lovely and as my child is a bit of a grub, I like the fact you can easily take off the fabric to wash. It will last him up until he is 4 years old too which is great. All in all, a good chair at a reasonable price point.
Great seat – I am impressed with this seat. I found the seat very easy to install. I am very happy I can fit it with my other two seats comfortably. I love the protection it offers and the easy headrest and harness function is fantastic. The seat has reasonable height markers allowing for bub to be rear faced for minimum 12 months. The fabric is soft and cool so bub doesn't sweat. Over all this seat is great. Easy to install
Perfect! – My wife and I are very happy with this car seat, it has delivered everyting we expected and more. The instruction videos are simple and easy to follow: I watched it only once and was able to install the seat properly in a heartbeat without assistance. One feature I particularly like about this seat is the harness and headrest mechanism; there… Read more · 2
is no need to uninstall the car seat to adjust them and can be done quite easily. The first time I put my baby in, I adjusted both without any complications and have continued doing so as he grows.
The covers are machine washable which is quite useful and the protection pads give me the feeling and comfort my baby is safe and well protected. Easy to install, easy to adjust, safe, machine washable
