Worst Phone I have ever owned – I recently bought a Galaxy S6 from Kogan. The first phone they sent me would not even turn on and had to be returned. A second one was sent to me directly from Hong Kong and first noted an odd charger. Took over 5 hours to charge and with minimal use I barely get 8 hours battery life. Tried different power saving options but did not improve. Show details

Good Phone – Camera and screen quality is great. The phone is fragile so buying a case that extends past the camera that sticks out is necessary. The phone screen needs a protector because it is fragile as well. I have experienced quite a few app crashes and delays when I press the keys to type something, but nothing a restart cannot handle. I have had around… Read more

three issues with my phone not restarting or powering on correctly and had to take it into an At&t store, the person say this every once in a while. My biggest pet peeve is the headphone jack. I have bought 8 good quality headphones (five reviewed to work best with the Galacy S6 and three headphones I have favored over the years) and they all dislodge from the phone way too easily. I would have tried to get Bluetooth headphones, but the battery doesn't last but, 3/4ths of a day with normal usage. I mainly use this for calling, texting, and social media while on my breaks. I'll be honest I have had this phone for a little over three years.

Reliable – Reliable phone, although quite fragile. I would definitely recommend purchasing a phone cover and also front glass. I've dropped the phone twice without a cover it and it has caused some cracks to appear. Battery charge is ok, but because I've had for two years it's starting to wane on me.  Show details

2 year old Galaxy S6 – I have had my Samsung Galaxy S6 for around 2 years now and i am thouroughly impressed with it's functionality, compatibility and longevity. I am a heavy duty user of my device and i would highly recommend this model to anyone. Slow, unreliable and very fragile – Bought new online from an Australian retail site for $359 though when started up it briefly showed the Verizon (North American carrier) logo. The charger that came with the phone had a poor fitting usb connector so used the charger from my old Samsung phone without issue. The good: 1) Good quality camera works in almost all light conditions… Read more

without any visible blurring or pixelation

2) Excellent screen colour and contrast.

The bad: (Please note clearly my device was a lemon as most other reviews here are positive).

1) I put a screen protector on initially, though, had to remove it as somehow it intermittently kept pressing the back button.

2) Also for a phone with good specs it was surprisingly slow. To click on even the dialler or message app would take a couple of seconds or so to load up. Because of this I never installed many apps. Only Facebook and sometimes Facebook Messenger. Normally the wifi and Bluetooth was turned off and background apps left closed.

3) After some months I repeatedly got the warning "Unfortunately Settings has stopped" to which I could only click OK. This would normally happen if I loaded Chrome, Facebook or any other app that uses the internet. I spent hours Googling this and found that if I went into app manager and cleared the cache and uninstalled all the updates the error would go away. I then had to disable automatic update in the Google Play store periodically as somehow it kept turning on the setting.

4) Sometimes browsing ebay, gumtree or aliexpress on Chrome the phone would become very hot. I would take it out of its cover so that it wouldn't overheat though it would become too hot to hold. I installed Firefox, though, it would be very slow and heat up even more.

5) More recently when recharging it would make the sound as if i kept plugging in then disconnecting the charging cable. I tried other chargers around the house but the issue remained. This would only happen some days then others perfectly fine.

6) The final straw for this phone was on the weekend I accidentally knocked the phone off a couch onto a wooden floor while it was in a generic flip case. I thought nothing of it and only checked it later to see that a third of the pixels had disappeared. The next morning only a few blue pixels would turn on, then by evening no pixels on the screen whatsoever.

I got a quote for repair from a local phone shop. The cost would be $300. Not much less that the phone cost me in the first place. I then went onto ebay and see the genuine screen cost is a touch over $200 and the unbranded generic screen about $130 (including gst). Also to get this phone open a youtube video shows that a heat gun is required to initially heat up the phone, then a suction cup and a guitar pick. What a hassle.

I would not recommend this phone based on my experience. It has been a massive disappointment and I've wasted a lot of time searching for fixes for its problems. I really regret ever purchasing it and have since demolished it and placed the remains in the rubbish bin.

I'm now back to using my original Samsung Ace that is a copy of the iphone3. It still works perfectly so obviously some Samsung phones are very good. Also the Ace has fallen out of my pocket when I've been riding my bike or jogging and not a single dead pixel. Amazing seeing the S6 couldn't even survive a less than half metre drop on to a wooden floor. Also my wife's S4 has given no trouble in over 4 years constant use.

If you come into possession of this phone I would highly recommend any phone case that offers a lot of protection and padding for the screen. A laminated screen protector may also help.

Not the greatest – Cons: Repairs however minor are 4x as expensive as any other phone. I have a bit of peeling on the screen from battery charging getting hot and has melted some adhesive between the coloured film that sticks to the glass. $160 was the quote. They basically replace the whole amoled screen and digitizer even though its fine. A front glass… Read more

replacement using a $10 aftermarket gorilla glass is only possible when you have a specialised heating element with a string to cut the smoked and digitzer away from the front glass. It's very hard so it's easier just for the silly aussies to replace the whole screen.

I had to pay $5 in parking to find out the $160 quote. Had i caught the problem earlier i could have fixed it much more nicely with a uv glue like 5 second fix or loca glue as demonstrated on YouTube. I have stopped the problem getting worse atleast but some debris made its way through before sealing. These have been a cheap fix and let's you get abit longer out of your phone before you give it away.

Its really dissapointing that they insist on making retail markup of repairs rather than being reasonable letting me know of my options to do a quick fix or Not, and therefore increasing brand loyalty. I'll never purchase another Samsung product again. I really think that economically they should just shutdown their service department and outsource it to local shop repairers. That would build better brand loyalty. Do a half hour training with their techs, supervise them fixing a few samsungs, then slap those trained people with authorised Samsung repairer logos.

Other frustrsting things were: No ability to use a hard external SD card in this model, I don't like clouds or too much radiation in my life so I bought a bloody keyring sized otg USB 3.0 sandisk which should have come with this model S6 as a gift if they knew how to market their products properly. It's even the same aluminium design as the bezel.

No ability to replace battery easily. Really only designed to last 2 years, but only lasted for me 1 year due to heavy use. The design could be improved by gluing the battery to the back glass and using a small double silicone ring to seal the back on so that it's atleast serviceable.

Pros: The only positive I've enjoyed having gotten used to the phone is the customized android software. Samsung pay works really well, the cloud and backup software is ok, you get 15gb when signing up. The performance of the hardware and screen etc is good. The camera was okay, it seemed to be better on android 6 than 7 for some reason but that may be due to something else or badly 'optimized' settings applied during the upgrade. Blue light filter is excellent. If the repairs and service were as good as the product and maybe included in the initial $1900 they are asking per device over it's lifetime like a Dyson is than it would be good but it's not and it's just not worth it if there's anything wrong with the phone having to battle your way through the customer service.

Edit: So I've just found out using an app accubattery to test battery health that the battery now only has half of its capacity available from a years worth of use. -1 star.

The most painful experience- bad battery, not durable, expensive to repair and bad customer service – Have to say this has been a painful experience. The phone gets really hot if you use the GPS or run some apps. repairing it (for $300) I bought an otterbox case which is meant to be one of the best cases. The phone however, then had another problem a few months later- it kept getting hot and once when using the Maps the phone just died and the battery stopped charging. I put it on charge at it wouldn't move from 0%. I went to Samsung who told me they can't help but I need to contact the country the phone was made in.... The rep at the store in Samsung didn't even want to look at my phone -they seem to be in store only to get you to buy the product. Finally, it fell again and again not from a far distance and the touchscreen became unresponsive again. In addition, I wanted to buy the Samsung Gear when I first bought the phone but I realised Samsung doesn't really cater for females as the watch is made for a guys hand. Even the sales rep told me to checkout the Michael Kors smart watches instead. Extremely disappointed by the poor service and product quality. If you pay 700 for a phone you should at least be making them to last for > 6 months.

The Galaxy S6 is by far the worst phone I have ever owned – I have had all the Galaxy models and each one made me eager to get the next model but since having the S6, I have bypassed the 7, 8 and 9. The very first thing that struck me about the S6 was the inability to remove or replace the battery and the absence of external storage installation. All in all the worst phone I have ever owned.  Show details

A lot of hot air over nothing – I became a 'Samsung user' years ago when I met my wife. She wants everything to be Samsung although many of their products are not the best on the planet. Fridges, washing machines, TVs and mobile phones are not always the best. I've had them all. One has to compare brands to find the right product for you and not blindly follow a brand. My wife… Read more

recently convinced me to get the Samsung S6. I complied. I now regret having bought this phone. Why? The screen is only marginally better than that of my previous non Samsung phone but because the battery drains at 1% per minute on high brightness, I have to decrease brightness substantially and turn a blue filter on so that I get through the day on one charge. The result is that the all so hailed image quality of the Amoled screen is useless if brightness is decreased. I can't see anything in daylight without draining the battery.

Next up the finger print lock. The Samsung has trouble with everyone's prints and I need to scan multiple times and/or enter the unlock code to unlock it.

The audio quality on the Samsung is poor. Even at full volume, I have to press the phone really hard against my ear just to hear the muffled sound.

The camera is good.

And I just found out that connecting USB on the go (OTG) no longer works for some phones, including Samsung, after an Android update. While this is not Samsung's fault per se, my understanding is that Android tests updates on a range of brand phones, including Samsung, and that there is communication happening between Samsung and Android/Google. But obviously not here. There are constant updates that render Samsung phones useless for whatever reason.

Overall, I am disappointed that Samsung has developed such a poor product without actually making improvements. It's all hype. Had I known this, I would have upgraded to the Samsung. I would have kept my old phone.

UPDATE: In December 2018 my battery started to fail. It drains very fast. My wife had the same problem with her S6.

Nice. Worth the money – I like Android over Ios and Samsung makes best phones with Android system. The Samsung Galaxy s6 is slim and good looking phone. Picture quality is good, not best as compared to recent models obviously. But it is trustworthy as I hardly had an issue with it. Better if you keep your storage free for it to work fast though  Show details

Love this phone – Even though this particular phone is getting on in age, it still performs perfectly. I'm so glad that back in 2013 I decided to invest in a phone worth over $1000. By keeping it in a case at all times and with screen protectors this phone is still in perfect condition. I've never had any scratches or cracked screens and I don't handle my phone delicately either! super quality!  Show details

Great phone - I wished I bought the larger memory size – Phone screen size is convenient as well as its overall size, you can still put it in your pocket without being annoyed. Still receiving the latest Android system updates. Phone speed is great. Screen colours are lively. Volume buttons are a little bit annoying some times, not very flexible for use. A larger memory size would have been definitely an advantage.  Show details

Pretty good phone, many aspects take away – I purchased this phone in 2015, and I am currently still using it to this day. When I first started using it, the phone worked like a dream, no issues, no slowdowns, battery was perfect, and it had a awesome camera for a phone at the time. there is a lot of bloatware automatically installing itself onto the phone. The battery is also pretty horrid, lasting sometimes up to 3 hours with medium brightness, and power saving on. The OS is very slow, and it is not as responsive anymore. There are also a lot of scuffs on the screen, and I will admit they have been from me dropping it. I could count how many times I've dropped it on my 2 hands, and I will say it doesn't have any cracks in it, so durability wise with a plastic case, I'd say it's pretty good. Overall, If I were to give a review based on when I got it, it would probably be a 5, but today it would be a 3 based on what I currently have, overall I give it a 4 in general.
