How I wasted money – Actually, we have/had two - my wife and me. We used them for few years now. We encountered the same problems as other dissatisfied people here. Absolute rubbish - design and material. Bands unreliable, my wife had the band undone by itself, almost lost the gizmo. So the band was replaced with 3rd party with a genuine lock. Latch does not lock it… Read more

properly anyway and it can separate the band from the watch. In mine - total loss, crumbled plastic around a latch, no way to glue due to material (silicone). Both units developed poor contact and are very difficult to charge. Gear Fit2Pro has very poor battery and needs to be recharged each day under normal condition (no GPS). Heartbeat counting was OK, but sleep monitoring and floors traveled are out of reality. Floors usually show less than 50%, sleep monitoring very crude. It would be good at the price of $30-50, not $190-290. Shame, we cannot add photos to our reviews. Finally, I was so upset and dissatisfied, that I got Withings Scan Watch for $499. Worth every dollar. Only slightly heavier, provides with more functions, solid build and design. Approved by TGA as a medical device (ECG, O2, pulse). Distance, floors, calories, workouts spot on ... battery last much longer at least few days with GPS/mobile Bluetooth connection.

Do not buy – I bought one of these back in late 2017 after saving up for a couple of months. By mid 2018 the product would not charge. I noticed on an overseas trip in February 2018 that the device would not charge right away when placed on the dock and that I would have to fiddle with it a bit to get it to charge. Eventually the product stopped charging… Read more

altogether because the gold contacts on the back of the device (that connect to the charger) wore away because my sweat corroded them away -- what kind of silly design flaw is that?

I took the product to JB Hi Fi who sent it off to a repairer (Roadhound Electronics) who told me that they wouldn't fix it because I had "damaged" the product. They actually had the gall to say that *I* had intentionally scratched off the contacts!!! Why would I buy a product and damage it intentionally and then waste my time trying to get it fixed? It makes no sense at all (this part is more of a criticism of Roadhound Electronics as opposed to Samsung).

Silly device, I bought it for $279 at JB Hi Fi (jumped on a sale) and it was dead 6 months later. Don't buy this junk, absolute waste of money and resources. I use an iPhone and was keen to get this device for months, but will not buy a Samsung fitness tracker ever again.

Didn't meet my expectations – The Gear Fit 2 Pro was my first fitness tracker. My main activities are swimming (both pool & open water) as well as walking, running and cycling. Many of my swimming friends were using fitness trackers and smart watches to track their workouts and events. A large bulk of them had the Apple Watch which produced some really good maps of swims. So… Read more

this is what prompted me to look at a wearable. I have a Samsung S8 and have loved all my Samsung phones so it was natural that a Samsung wearable was my go to. For Christmas 2017 I got myself this watch. I purchased it through a Speedo Shop, and it was sold to me as a great swimming watch featuring the Speedo On app. It was not cheap at the time with a price tag of around $300+. Yesterday after my swim it appeared to be flat but on return to home it had apparently died. Couldn't even charge it to do a reboot. I've had a chequered history with this device but feel I am done with Samsung Wearables. Most of my compatriots that aren't using Apple Watches are using Garmins and have very favourable experiences so I moving over to them.

Overall my view of the Gear Fit 2 Pro is that it's probably ok for someone involved in base level recreation and fitness activities but not ideal for hard core training, especially for swimming.

Pro's are: It looks good and feels comfortable to wear, Good resolution screen, touch screen that is easy to use, 2 simple push buttons which are easy to navigate, has it's own built in fitness apps but also supports other apps such as MapMyRun, Strava and Speedo On, It connects and synchronises really well with my phone as well as receives notifications from various apps and phone calls.

Cons are: It died after 2 years (I exercised daily with reasonable effort), HR sensor inferior to Apple and Garmin (slow to pick up HR, sometimes read double actual HR at rest and often froze when performing activity at higher intenisty), Very Poor Battery (without doing a workout requires recharging after 1 day, but flattens very quickly with a work out, often dropping from 100% to less than 30% for a 30 to 60 min workout) Poor GPS (takes some time to acquire GPS and Maps of routes are often incomplete due to this and drop outs), Poor performance as a swimming tracker (Speedo On works ok but not always accurate in the pool. When I first got the Gear Fit, the Speedo On app was so poor I stopped using the whole watch in the pool, but then there was an update and it did improve markedly. The watch also doesn't manage open water swimming well, unable to even remotely record adequate distance and maps), Poor durability of the watch band (In the 2 and a bit years I had the watch I had to get a new watch band. To Samsung's credit the first band was replaced under warranty, but after a year the outer layers of the second band were peeling again making the watch look shabby), Small screen makes it difficult to read if you use glasses, especially in the pool, also tricky to read in the sunlight.

Overall, I don't think the Gear Fit 2 Pro is a bad product, but it's not heavy duty enough for semi serious to serious athletes who want spot on accurate data. My confidence with this wearable is not high due to the reasons I've given above,so I won't be looking at their other models. I bought my wife an Apple Watch 3 last year and it absolutely trumps this product, which is disappointing as Samsung is such a great brand. The only thing stopping me from moving to an Apple Watch is that it can only pair with iPhone and I am more than happy with my S8. My research and feedback from friends has lead me to the Garmin. Sorry Samsung

Great smartwatch for the average exerciser – This watch gets mixed reviews online but it works well enough for me and if you have the same needs, I recommend it to you too. I do one session of exercise every few days, am not a professional or serious amateur, exercise indoors and out, and don't wear my smartwatch for anything but exercise. Favourite features: available for good prices… Read more ·  1

online (e.g. less than $100), has preset exercise types (e.g. running, walking, elliptical), quick launch of music, connects to Spotify offline (no need to carry your phone around!), sufficiently accurate measurements (for a non-professional), has GPS to improve location and distance measurements, lasts well and truly long enough for a run or gym session, charges quickly, great little magnetic charging stand, always connects well to headphones/earphones, can choose a myriad of faces with more or less information, automatically comes to life when you raise your wrist, can choose workouts based on a variety of measurements, such as distance or time. There are more features that I don't use but might be good for you (heaps of different stats and the ability to track all sessions as a group). Only thing I would like to change is would like to be able to program the buttons to do things that I use more often and the voice that tells you you're halfway through a preset workout sounds like a robot from the 1990s! Of course it would be nice if the battery lasted a little longer but if you don't wear it as a regular watch and/or charge it each night while you're asleep, this doesn't matter at all. I bought this watch second hand and it seems to be going fine despite its estimated age. If it helps, model number is 5MR365.

Great for someone with heart complication – I love my samsung gear! I was lucky to pick mine up very cheap online second hand. I have never wore a watch as they hurt, yet i never take this off! caffeine intake. the added features to download such as wrist watch ( my favourite on busting the kids eating snacks) is an added bonus. My only major issue/ complaint would be the battery- for someone needing constant record it would be nice if it lasted longer than 12hrs. I also like to note the pointless phone answer option....you can answer the call from the watch- but only answers on the actual phone....why!? A small speaker for driving would be amazing without having to use the bluetooth headset.

My favourite feature of all is the messages side. Well done samsung...I'm very happy with mine!

Great daily driver for non-intensive use – I've had this watch for three years now and it's still going strong. Love how small and narrow it is. I've had to replace the band once, mainly due to my own doing (got stuck behind a chair). Tip: replace the standard band with a metal link one. I bought a third party band online and it makes the watch look quite classy. Some reviewers here get… Read more ·  1

very angry over a broken band, it is a small and cheap effort to replace it.

There is one catch: I don't use it for intensive exercise, got a chest strap for that. I don't think the watch is water proof as even sweaty palms can throw it off balance. It is perfectly fine for running, cycling and hiking though. Live the built in GPS.

Best swimming/running sportswatch I've found - at a price that doesn't break the bank – After owning the Samsung Gear Fit2 Pro smartwatch for nearly 3 months and using it regularly for swimming, running and cycling it's hard to pass up at the price (below $200). I specifically like the long, thin format of the screen (rather than the 'round' watches) as it makes it seem less bulky - and the high quality and clarity of the display… Read more

still allows a lot of info to be displayed.

It reliably counts my swim laps, records lap times, and even records heartrate during the swim - the first waterproof wearable I've found that does this reliably (though I haven't tried an Apple Watch because of the price). So far I've had no issues with the waterproofing. I've followed the general guidelines that apply to all waterproof watches I've previously owned - to NOT press the watch buttons when the watch is submerged. Also make sure you have the Fit2 PRO, not the Fit2 (non-pro), which is NOT waterproof.

It has in-built GPS so can track your run or ride as well as recording speeds, heartrate, pace, etc without needing to take your phone with you, and also has built-in memory so you can download MP3 music/audio files to the watch and listen to them while exercising, using your bluetooth headphones/earbuds.

There are many different customised watch faces you can download from the Samsung store, so you're sure to find one that suits you - though they all pretty much report the same stats. Being a smartwatch, it interfaces with your mobile phone via bluetooth to display SMS/email/facebook/etc alerts. It also has built-in WiFi that you can use to allow the watch to directly access websites (e.g. for weather information).

The only drawbacks are that maximum functionality and access to apps is only available if you have an Android phone that has more than 2GB system memory (no not storage memory). I mainly use an iPhone and, while it works ok generally, I have to put up with a somewhat limited level of functionality (not all apps are accessible from the Samsung store when you try to download via an iPhone). Before you ask... no, you can't pair the watch to more than one phone to download the apps through the Android but use it day-to-day with an iPhone. You can only pair it with one phone at a time and, as soon as you pair it, it resets the watch back to defaults - wiping any apps you may have previously downloaded. It also has limited integration with common health apps and relies on the 'Samsung Health' app to facilitate this (doesn't happen directly from the watch).

All in all, for less then AU$200, it's a great watch for tracking your exercise during the day, regardless of whether you swim, run, ride, hike, or all of the above. It will even track your sleep patterns - though you're probably more likely to have the watch on the charger overnight than on you're wrist.

For a waterproof fitness tracker and smart watch, there's nothing to beat it at it's price and, I believe, at even twice the price.

Would be great if it worked. Skip the pro and get a Gear Fit 2 instead – I received this watch as a present for Christmas last year. After a couple of days of wearing it (not at work, I have a regular gear fit 2 for work and used the pro as a "going out watch") I noticed the sensors had stopped working (the sensor to auto turn on the screen, pedometer and HR) and googled to find the only fix was to flatten the battery… Read more

all the way then recharge. I did this, then the next time I wore it, it lasted a day then happened again. As we bought it from Harvey Norman's and they're a 40min drive from our house, I just stopped wearing it as I still had my Gear Fit 2 which worked fine. I recently smashed the screen on my gear fit 2, so decided I'd better sort out my Pro before the warranty runs out, but on returning it I was told that it had "signs of shock" and therefore would not be covered, as I hadn't claimed it straight away. Also given a $230 bill if I wanted to pay to fix it. Why offer a 24 month warranty if nothing can be claimed after a certain time? This watch had no real shocks (it was literally worn less than 15 times, and never at work, never even for any fitness activities. The biggest impact it would have received would be getting thrown back in the drawer to let the battery die again) Also, why would a shock void the warranty for a watch designed for fitness tracking in the first place? The Samsung website shows people wearing it playing tennis, wouldn't that deliver a shock to the watch?

Very poor SAMSUNG... very very poor.

Quality and Support for this product is the worse I have seen – Some facts as a consumer Product purchased online from an Australia reseller who is not in business any longer. Talking to Samsung the warranty is not available for this product as it seems the seller import it from USA and sold it in Australia and we have no way of identifying the fraud during… Read more

the purchase. which we could return in time if this option was given. As a customer receiving the unit as a gift I am now stuck with a lemon which I believe from the search I have done the product has some serious design issues as many have experiencing the same fault with this model. Most of all the support from Samsung Australia is useless as they act like the product I purchase is not theirs. So here is another unit in the bin and will keep away from this company forever !

Max disappointment – The unit is promoted as having a tough//military grade+scratch resistant screen, not even close in reality. Display was dodgy from first month of use and scratched up very easily. A few weeks ago brushed against a render wall which made the unit stop working, military grade? Samsung living up to their service reputation, repairing is equal or more… Read more

than the cost of a new unit & refused to fix under warranty. Waste of time and money, will be moving on from anything Samsung.
