Notifications work well and I use smart lock to keep the phone unlocked while in the proximity of the watch which is handy. Maybe in a year or so I may upgrade, but this device is pretty reliable and other than potentially longer battery life I can't see I would get much more value out of a new one.

Convenient – So convenient and handy for recieving notifications when you dont have your phone on you or if your phone is on silent. Comfortable bands and dont look bulky or heavy on your wrist. Don't get this if you have an iPhone – Samsung says that the Gear S2 (and newer Gear S3) works with the iPhone. Sure, it does; but there are some very serious compromises. Firstly, connection will regularly drop (randomly). Spin the bezel to the left and you'll get dismissable notifications, from which you can also either take action (e.g if it's an email you can Delete / Archive, or if it's a SMS or message from a messenger-like application like Hangouts, you can even reply with canned messages or an emoji).

The watch also supports NFC, allowing you to use Samsung Pay if your bank supports it. Few banks in Australia do and I haven't tested the feature.

The fitness tracking is pretty accurate -- it comes with a built in GPS and heart rate sensor, both of which used in tandem for recording running or biking. The step counter however is simply based on motion sensor data and this usually results in a fairly inaccurate reading -- simply waving your wrist about counts as a step so you should take the information given with a big spoonful of salt.

Battery life -- lasts 2 and a half days at most with light usage, so you'll have to get used to charging the watch at least once every 2 days, and if you're traveling don't forget to pack the charging cradle with you.

This is the big flaw with most smart watches of today. The technology is amazing but the battery technology can't keep up.

As far as smart watch goes, it's amazing, one of the best.

Nice watch, great features – Great watch, with wonderful features. Definitely handy to have, especially if you work somewhere quite busy and need to see your notifications at a glance. Loving it – I have this watch from 2 years and working awesome with my old s5. Just having issue with new non Samsung phone. takes 2-3 hours for a full charge, last about 2 days on average. The text notification feature is very useful, I could read and reply text without taking out my phone. The watch display is great, readable under harsh sunlight. However, the continuous Bluetooth-pairing has drained my phone's battery quickly, and therefore a portable Powerbank is a must.

Bicycle, cross trainer, walking running etc. The only issue I have had the strap broke after a few months and Samsung replaced it. It replaced my Tag Heuer, its that good.

January 14th 2018 Update: Great watch prefer it over a normal watch

It's Great watch prefer it over a normal watch, I have had it for over 2 years and would recommend it to anyone. I mainly use it for keeping my phone silent I get notifications on my watch from the phone, messages emails etc. The only problem I have had is with the watch strap which was replaced after 10 months of use it broke at the join to the watch. great product and small as a normal watch,

Perfect gift for the sporty – Bought this as a present to my son (who is a fitness buff) and he absolutely loved the product. it has a fashionable feel/look to it, and syncs well with his samsung phone. It's a part of life – The only draw back to this watch is its size - it is a little large for a woman's watch. That said, you can get away whatever you like nowadays. But It can't use as call speaker, just for listening music or record file or notification alarm. Not as good as expected – I bought this watch from Telstra eBay store for $96. Battery life is good. But I cannot answer phone call through this watch. differences between the S2 and S3 are the size, battery, design and speaker. The S3 basically has a slightly bigger screen and overall build, longer-lasting battery, and has a built-in speaker. The S2 also stands out as an obvious smartwatch whereas the S3 looks more like an analog watch. I would advise choosing on the basis of design between the two if price isn't a factor - they function very similarly. As with most smartwatches, the apps are still quite limited to music, messaging, a few games, and various notifications. There are thousands of watch faces to choose from in Samsung's Galaxy App store so there's no need to worry about that. Ultimately, if you're not convinced of the usefulness of a smartwatch, this won't change your mind; however, if you're already in the market for one, this is definitely one to short-list.

Battery could be better – I love my Samsung gear but do not live the battery life. The features of the watch are awesome, easy to use and very handy when my phone is in my bag. Good and stylish but lacking answering calls – The watch, sport and notification function is excellent. Style and quality is 10/10. The only feature lacking is answering call because it doesn't have a microphone.
