What I worked out is that it was having the fridge too cold that caused the problem - with the drainage system freezing up and water coming through the fridge light. I keep a fridge thermometer in the fridge. The 2 or 3 fridge setting is cold enough. If it starts to get too cold on 3, I go back to 2. I alternate between the two. Haven't had a problem since. Love this fridge freezer and will keep the new one as a spare.
Soggy food – Have a samsung sr468mw same common fault water leaking out of light in fridge. Defrost hole in freezer blocked with ice hole is the size of a pencil not fit for purpose it has a small defrost tag that is supposed to keep drain from icing up needs a longer and thicker one. Show details

So here’s the thing!! I purchased this refrigerate from The Good Guys in Ballina on 20/2/2015. SR468MW for $849. Nice and quiet- freezer at -15deg & main compartment @ 5deg. - Perfect. have frozen over not allowing the condensate water to drain outside the fridge to the evaporation tray located at the bottom of the fridge located on top of the compressor motor. Unplug the refrigerator. Take food out of freezer & refrigerator.. remove the 2 white round cover plates located in the freezer control panel. Remove the Philips head screws. You also need to remove the ice tray holder. No screws, slide forward to ease off the 3 locating lugs. With the fridge pulled away from the wall check to see if the evaporation tray is dry - if yes ( most likely) it’s a sure sign your drain tube is clogged with ice. I used a steamer and a turkey baster to squirt boiling water down the drain tray located under the condenser ( the drain hole is located to the right of this tray) you’ll probably get a lot more water entering the main cabinet until the drain tube is cleared. As it was winter…. This took most of the day. I was able to squirt steam up the drain hose from the bottom to speed up the process. I have had to do this twice now. Back in Aug 22 and yesterday, July 31st 25. Both winter months. Samsung definitely have a design problem…. and they know it. There is a defrost clip which Samsung now recomend be fitted. I purchased one but on this model it was a ‘bridge too far’ for me to fit. Other things that p*ss me off with my fridge. NO DOOR ALARM. No easy adjustment to allow the door to close by its own inertia. You’ll find hundreds of DIYers on Utube explaining the Samsung issue and the retrofit of the defrost attachment

Good simple fridge – Water leak from fridge light on to tray. It would also pays to adjust air vent, for air balance. Samsung fridge user manual got description on setting the air vents. Might help. Cheap and Small – I purchased this fridge for its size, price and energy rating. It's just myself and my partner living in our household so this fridge suits our needs. I don't find it too noisy, it does have some trouble freezing everything if you have a packed freezer. Because of its size its very easy to clean and move around Show details

Worked well for 7 years and then broke – I bought this one for $594 on November 2014. It worked well for 7 years and suddenly stopped working. I would ideally liked it to have a longer lifespan, at this price point its worth it. Unfortunately none of the third party repair services cannot fix it because Samsung does not make the parts available. Show details

years old. By all accounts the life of a Fridge/Freezer is approx. 15 years. $1000 is a lot of money to fork out on a Fridge Freezer which seems to have a manufacturers fault. There does not appear to be a solution to fixing this fault. I will contact the Samsung support centre to see what they say, and even go so far as putting a case to ACCC and see what they have to say.

Fridge is leaking – My Samsung fridge is leaking water and I know why. The problem is poor design. Honestly all I can think of is that Samsung intentionally designed it like that so that you would have to use them in future for servicing. Now let’s talk about what the issue is. Behind the freezer section (evaporator) there is a tray with a hole that condensed water… Read more
drains through that hole. However the hole gets clogged overtime so water remains there and then it freezes and then eventually it overflows to your fridge. Solution: melt the ice with hot water then unclog the drain but … BIG BUT… The drain is design incredibly bad (poor design) such that you can’t easily unblock it because there is a plastic layer under the drain hole and you can’t really see where the actual draining is to unblock it. I tried very hard last time with a thin wire and eventually managed to open it and it worked for a year and now it is clogged again but this time no matter how much I try, I can’t unblock it because I can’t see the actual draining point. Why is there a plastic layer under that hole to make it impossible to see the actual draining point? Can Samsung explain?
Not so good fridge – Bought this fridge 4 years back. After one year the veggie basket support broke while we were sliding it in. Now we are having another issue where water is leaking from the light area jnto the door trays. Is is so annoying to get a reply back from samsung saying the call out fee for technician is $200 and if they figure that the fridge is faulty then we need to pay out of pocket to get it repaired... Perfect Faulty Product (SR469MLS) – Same water leakage issue and expected response from Samsung, it seems product has fault which should be resolved even out of warranty with minimal or no cost. Problems with condensate, 2 services – 29/07/2020 Purchased the fridge 24/09/2015 then had an issue with condensate dripping inside the refrigerator 12 months later. A service person attended, at cost, cleared the drain from the freezer compartment and also inserted a short length of copper wire into the drain which, in turn, helped to solve the problem until just recently when the… Read more
problem of leakage recurred. We had another service done today by a Samsung service person who disassembled the freezer compartment and pointed out that the drain again was blocked and the drain tray had about 10-15mm of ice which was the cause of the leakage problem. He suggested that we leave the fridge turned off for 24 to 36 hours and after that I should check that the tray had drained and then pour some hot water into the tray to check that the drain had completely cleared. (This option was better for us financially rather than having the service person do it because the call out fee was $154 for the first 30 mins. then $44 for each 15 mins. thereafter and it would have taken some time to thaw out the drain line). I shall attempt to put the freezer back together tomorrow, as I do have some mechanical ability, and hope that the problem doesn't re- eventuate. If not, we will be up for a new fridge!!! Over the years we have had problems with the fridge/freezer with such things as ice cream icing up but that could have been because of incorrect settings within the fridge/freezer unit or an inherent fault with the fridge itself. Given the problems that we've had with the Samsung refrigerator we will be quite reluctant to purchase another and shall inform others of our problems

Great fridge freezer – Maintain temp plenty of room and smart looking plus good on electric consumption easy to clean. First time I have bought a Samsung product and it had digital inverter motor. Cheap to run, environmentally efficient and does the job – I bought it because it was cheap and on special on eBay. But it also had a very good energy efficiency rating and its environmental stats were excellent. Sure it is not the most aesthetically pleasing of fridges but it does everything that I need of it. Certainly some of the plastic inserts could probably be designed better but it is a compact workhorse that costs me little and will continue serving me and the environment for years. Show details

Good fridge – We have been using this fridge over an year and it has been going good. There is no such complaint of any noises as seen on other reviews. It has sufficient cooling. The temperature controls are adequate to manage different levels in freezer and fridge. Vegetables remain fresh in the Vegetable tray. There are good options for sorting and arranging various foods in shelves and sections. Show details

I bought this fridge because it’s warranty and low energy consumption, it is super energy efficient far better than the competitors. I like the led lighting and how quiet it is. Great for a small household – This fridge is great for 2 people, but any more (especially in a shared house where everyone has their own separate food) and it struggles. I find it hard to see and get items that are at the back of the shelves, especially the ones down low. However, the only gripes I have with it really relate to the size and if you are after a small fridge this one does a good job of keeping the food cold without making much noise. Show details
Great fridge! – It's big enough for 1-2 people. It runs quietly. I have never heard it making any noise. The temperature is kept well in all compartments. Its electricity consumption is about 2kWh/day, very efficient and saves a lot when you are away on holidays but still need to leave it on. Highly recommended. Show details
Good price for this – Big space in both top and bottom, I prefer this to the drawer design, since I can organize it myself properly. Solid little fridge – Really quiet, and was priced pretty well. Only issues, sometimes when fridge packed too much, food does have a tendency to frost up, but i believe thats more to do with me over filling during holiday seasons. Rest of the time it's been good. Can't fault it – It does make a low purr occasionally but most of the time it is pretty quiet. I know cause I live in a tiny studio. I bought it second hand, think the fridge was about 3 years old but in really good nick. Of course majority of credit goes to the previous owners. Not a good experience – This fridge broke down after a week. It made a high pitched whining noise and then stopped working. It was also very cramped and badly designed. The shelf space would only accommodate small jars and the door space was way too narrow. I wouldn't recommend this on quality or design. Show details
After Warranty water leaker – Soon after warranty; The freezer and cool compartment still work but when it goes through it's defrost cycle it starts leaking water which drips from high up in compartment,fills up top shelf in door outside edge and then drips out of shelf and on to floor.
