Samsung should just recall this model to save face – I have to say this is very disappointing for Samsung this model SRF527DSLS is a lemon, To save face Samsung should recall this model and replace it or at the very least make a free in home modification to fix this design fault, generally Samsung make great product’s look at their TVs, I think if they don’t address the problems with their fridges customers will start to lose faith in Samsung in general across all their products  Show details

I have called out the warranty service at least 4-5 times! (have lost count by now) – I think the title should say it all. The fridge is 9 years old and it has had more problems that you can count: the hinges on the door flaps broke once and they have broken again. The back panel kept freezing and then water would pour on the bottom of the fridge. I called the warranty on it so many times and with a move lost the receipt and had… Read more

massive battle for them to come and fix it again because I didn't have a proof of purchase. Finally they did agree to it because clearly they knew I'd had it before and the serial number was the same but it is a terrible fridge. I will never again buy a Samsung fridge.

Disgusting manufacture quality – Impossible to clean shelves. Just enough space between plastic and glass to catch build up of spills, which we all know inevitably happen in a house where children and husbands use the fridge! But IMPOSSIBLE to pull apart in order to clean, without destroying either the cheap plastic surrounding it or the glass. Same problem with ice build up as… Read more

Excellent at keeping fruit and veg' fresh! – Good fridge in terms of size and set out, double doors for ease of access and hence VERY easy to clean. Love that the freezer (that I obviously access less regularly) is under the fridge and that ice cubes are ready in a flash! My vegies are staying crisp longer and I eat mainly raw so purchase lots each week! Access to cool water on fridge door… Read more

Good, but not perfect – Had the fridge since December 2012, definitely an upgrade from what we had and good value for what we got. We also found the fridge to be randomly noisy turning the motor on and off as another review has pointed out. Wasn't too major for us but did seem bit strange. Initially very happy with the purchase and lasted for 10 months until the first… Read more

problems arose. The fans started running much louder than normal for a few weeks, then the noise eventually stopped - as did the cooling. At the time I did some Google snooping and found a lot of people having similar issues with this unit.

Got a Samsung tech out (took a few days) and he replaced the back panel inside the fridge which was covered with ice on the inside. I did have a quick look myself but I think the operation of removing that back panel is a one-way trip (word of caution for the curious). The noise was caused by excessive ice on the inside of the unit which eventually spreads into the fan space. Eventually, that will stop the fan at which point your cooling days are numbered. Covered under warranty, fix took about 30 mins, no dramas. Samsung even txt me to give me a 2-hour window for the service which was good.

18 months later here we are again. Same problem, except it only affected the top part of the back panel. Was concerned that I was out of warranty but Samsung covered it. Took two days from the call to get serviced, which is pretty good. For what it's worth, this is in Brisbane.

It was the same fault, only this time I got a decent explanation from the tech (forgive my simpleton explanation, I'm not a refrigeration engineer).

The sensor that controls the system which melts any ice build up is placed in such a way that ice may be cleared from the sensor but there is still a build up of ice around the top section which is the cooling unit. It takes a while for this to build up in a way that stops the fridge working, and on the second round of servicing our technician made several other changes to fix this problem (i.e. moving the sensors). The other issue that arises has to do with the drain valve in the back of the fridge which should be replaced to allow water to flow out properly. All up that still only took him about 45 mins and cost us nothing.

Apparently defrosting the whole thing will buy you a bit more time but it will eventually happen again. And I think you'd need some serious defrosting in the sun for a few days to clear all of that ice hidden away behind the back panel. Just turning if off for 12 hours isn't going to cut it.

So to sum up, the fridge was flawed coming out of the factory. It seems to take months to build up to critical point where the ice stops the fans and the fridge stops working. Samsung replaced one of the faulty parts 18 months ago but it seems that since then they did a bit more homework and figured out that a couple of changes to sensor placement and the drainage will help prevent more problems. Time will tell...

Service was good both times. The most frustrating part of the whole thing was the day the fridge stopped working and not knowing when I could get it fixed or if it would cost me my first born. Turns out I was pleasantly surprised on both counts.

For the 2.5 years it has given us, and the fact that Samsung have made good on what can only be described as a flaw in the design and build, I'd say I'm still happy with the fridge. I might caution a second-hand buyer because the warranty policy might not be so friendly if you don't have the original invoice, but reading through the abundance of complaints about this problem I doubt anyone could argue this issue isn't a fault.

Garbage – Where do I begin??? How can a company produce such garbage?? Purchased in 2014. Failed in 2015. Water leaking and icing up under and inside the veggie trays. The heated evaporator drain clip is so short that it does not reach into… Read more

the drain to keep it clear. As a result the grain freezes up and the water then overflows into the fridge. Samsung has now designed a longer drain clip which I believe does the job, but of course you have to pay for their design inadequacy to remediate the fault. Do yourself a favour. Buy the drain clip for $16 off EBay and thrown in a defrost temperature sensor and watch a few YouTube videos and for an expenditure under $40 save yourself the expense and blood pressure medication of dealing with Samsung!! Oh yes ! Forgot to add. The fridge door design is crap as well!! Springs break, hinges break!! Just a poor piece of engineering! Note to self DONT BUY SAMSUNG AGAIN!!

was a major fault with this model and warranty is only 16 days out. He told me to research and this where I found all these reviews of people having the same issues. Their service repairer tells me it's not worth fixing. So I spent $1639 on a fridge that lasts 5 yrs. Samsung have refused saying they have taken into consideration of price time and service history. Apparently I don't have a history they have no record of call out in 2014. But the service centre have all job reports including the one from 2016.I have made a formal complaint with ACCC I hope everyone will do the same they can't get away with manufacturing a faulty product and not taking responsibility.

Worse fridge on the market – This fridge has had so many issues, 7 known replacements with different designed parts due to faults with the original ones. Don't Buy! – We bought this fridge in 2014. Unaware of what everyone else was going through these past two years the fridge has pooled up water where the crisper area is we gave had to take that area out and place towels there to collect the water. it was icing up we spent $1550?! For a fridge that hasn't even lasted 5 years. Actually it was 3 years old when all this started to go wrong. Under the Australian consumer law guidelines a fridge should last 6 to 13years ?? Ours hasn't even lasted that long! The freezer works fine but the fridge compartment is useless. All I can use in it is the doors for milk and the freezer everything else goes off and is warm. The fans ice up and stop working causing problems and food to go off. Servicing it is not an option as it continues to happen with the model. You can see the ice still in the fan area. We have to turn it off and turn it on. I have been in contact with Samsung and they are trying to give me the run around about two year warranty. I have asked to have this matter escalated but I cant get through it keeps saying they're busy and cant take my call. I have reference numbers and will continue to have this sorted out. This is unfair for Samsung to continue selling fridges and only stop the model recently. They continued to sell them knowing they were faulty. This comes under merchantable quality. I have contacted to ACCC. I will endeavour to find a way to fix this problem with Samsung as I like the company and have some of their other products before I escalate this further.

The single worst purchase I have ever made – This fridge is not fit for purpose. Like others, I have had constant water pooling in and under the crisper draws. happens intermittently, but it seems only after I've bought a load of fresh fruit & vegies, which of course spoil when thawed and have to be thrown out. Massively inconvenient and a terrible waste of food and money. This unit is only 3 years old; my previous fridge (most definitely not a Samsung) lasted 22 years without a single problem. I should have kept it. I realise this model is now discontinued, but I want Samsung to know how bad this thing is. And that I will never buy any type of Samsung product again, just on principle.

again they blocked up again - solution was to cut the ends off allowing for water to drain properly.

FAN 2: May 2017, the fan inside the fridge has started to rattle, be it due to an ice build up or wear. Not in the mood to repair fridge, again.

May 2017 - Disposed of fridge thoughtfully.

Water everywhere – A build up of ice behind the inside panel due to an ongoing issue with the thermostat leads to water sloshing all over the floor of the fridge and even gets into the crisper. If you've ever had frozen brain from ice cream try frozen hands at 2:00am - not good.  Show details

Wouldn't recommend – I purchased this fridge nearly 4 years ago so I've gotten to know it. two (since the day I bought it) it starts up a loud gurgling, rumbling - the noise itself causes me to check on it where I find the freezer has warmed up by 10 degrees even though the temperature setting disagrees. I have placed a thermometer in the freezer which shows how much it has warmed up by. It does cool down again promptly, but it's enough to cause crystalisation, peas are stuck together in one lump etc (occasionally the ice melts into one large block) and I question the quality of the food.

I have called and complained about this issue numerous times with a technician coming out each time to check but the result is always the same "it is running to manufacturers standards". It is frustrating as the fridge is clearly not working properly but no official problem can be found.

I am looking to buy a new fridge and it will not be a Samsung.
