At first I start to defrost it manually to keep the ice away specially from the veggie cresper drawers every two months but now I have to do it every week .I am so glad to learn this product is now discontinued.what ever you do, stay away from this fridge! Great product at the start – This product was quite good when we bought it in 2011 as part of our kitchen renovations. Six years later, it's become a real pain to clean up the water pooling under the crisper drawers about once a week. Samsung CSR's (Customer Service Representatives) confirmed via phone (I called 5 times) that several of the SRF models are prone to this problem but wouldn't advise which other models are affected. Too much work – I have had this refrigerator for 1 year and ice freezes up on the inside. My husband had to take the back off and chip away at the frozen ice. It would work for 2 weeks and the ice would freeze up again. This was poorly made by Samsung, Which they usually make good products. I will never invest in a Samsung refrigerator again. Show details
Not a good product – Had the fridge for just on three years. Paid alot for it however it has started to accumulate water in the bottom of the crisper. Continually having to mop it up. Just not good enough. Rang Samsung and they said to get a service man to attend- to tell me the same thing I've just said and to pay for a service call on top of that...not likely. Won't be recommending Samsung to my friends. Show details
Nightmare – Have had this fridge for nearly 3 years and it's been a year that water builds up at the bottom of tge fridge under the drawers. I've been wiping the water and cleaning it up all the time which is a pain. Do not ever recommend this fridge at all. Show details
Loud and fridge filling up with water and the left door top hindge had broken OFF – have had to switch fridge freezer off as the fan started to make such a racket and the fridge is filling up with water in the crisper and on the bottom of the fridge top hinge on the left hand side of the door has snapped off not happy had fridge for four years wouldn't buy another samsung will go with a known brand when we have to buy another one Show details
Blocking up – Our fridge which costs alot of money and we have had for 3 years or more now is getting blocked up and it is leaking wzter into both the crispers and the freezer is over freezing. Water is leaking out onto our floor. It is disgusting when you pay this much for a reputable brand and mooks what happens. This fridge should of lasted us a lifetime.
Never buy a Samsung fridge again – After 14 months i Found pools of water under crispers. Technician came out and replaced a panel at the back inside the fridge which controls the defrosting. He said it was a known problem with this model, yet still they sell them. 12 months later I had the same problem except water was on the floor under the fridge after filling up the bottom of… Read more
the fridge under the crispers. Luckily I took out an extended warranty when I bought the fridge so it was covered under that. It was the same panel replaced again.
I am not expecting this to be the last time it fails. I would never again buy or recommend Samsung fridges to anyone.
Received a call today from my cousin and both her and her daughter have the same fridge and both have had it break down.
Shame on you Samsung.
Never Buying a Samsung Fridge Ever Again – We purchased the Samsung SRF528DSIS 4 years ago at a cost of $2500.00, it was amazing looked great the fridge and freezer never missed a beat.....3 years later it all went bad and of coarse it was out of warranty. Our fridge had now begun to make a horrible sound and under the crisper started to fill with water which would then freeze the crisper… Read more
shut. Once we were able to open the crisper all our fruit and vegetables would also be frozen.
I phoned Samsung and i was told it was a common issue and that a technician can easily fix it. I was also informed that it would not be covered by Samsung as the fridge was out of the warranty period. I agreed that was fair enough so i found my own local repairman. He was great and knew his stuff, he came out to fix our fridge - OK all he really did was defrost it over a few days - which is very inconvenient with 2 little kids. Few days later he returned to plug in the fridge and check it was all working as it should, and it was i was ecstatic my fridge was finally working again!!!
Unfortunately this was only a band-aid fix and within 3 months it started to make that horrible sound again ........ We cant cope with that sound so we are off to buy a new fridge, with only 1 rule ITS NOT A SAMSUNG.
Not worth the price – So wanted a French door fridge , well what a disappointment! Not functional at all . This fridge has limited bottle space , shelf space not suitable for your average 4 person family . Was limited by the width space less the 90 , hopefully the Good Guys will take a return.
Total dismay with the fridge and Samsung – I bought this fridge 4 years ago. At the time I was quite pleased because it was my first new fridge and I loved the French-door style, the glass shelves and freezer drawers (although one has never run smoothly, you have to give a little lift to return it and it sounds like it'll break at any moment). Seems to hold the temperature well but I… Read more
would agree with other reviewers that the doors need to be pushed closed as they don't swing shut even with some momentum.
My problems arose a couple of months ago when it started making intolerable noises. Naturally this would happen when it was out of warranty. I called Samsung and was directed to their local customer service centre. A man came out and fixed it for a cost of $220. He said that ice had built up in the lining and broken the fan. He told us this was a common problem with this model and we should contact Samsung for reimbursement. Being well aware of my consumer rights (ie. just because something's out of warranty doesn't mean the company has no obligations and an item like a fridge has an expected life of 10 - 20 years, during which time the company should fix or replace etc.) I contacted Samsung, sent them my service receipt/purchase receipt etc. and was told a couple of days later that as it was out of warranty they wouldn't do anything. I reminded them of their legal obligations and that the fridge shouldn't self-destruct at the age of 4 years but was basically ignored. I have sent several emails and when they do respond it is with dismissive stock responses addressed to the wrong name. I've been called Jean and Sharon but not my actual name!
I feel that given this problem does occur with this model (I've seen other reviews describing a similar thing) and the way I've been treated by their 'Customer (dis)Service' I can't recommend the fridge or Samsung in general at all.
It would seem that they are fine when it's under warranty (they know they have no escape) but won't come to the party beyond that, not even to recommend alternative solutions.
I imagine that it will do the same thing in another couple of years and every couple of years after that, so this fridge is more expensive than it first appeared!
SAMSUNG NOW ARE MY FAVOURITE BRAND – We bought this fridge from Harvey Norman and for the first 18 months all was great. Fortunately at the time we purchased the fridge, we opted to take the additional warranty coverage because we ended up needing to use it. Although the fridge section had no issues, the freeZer kept icing up and defrosting over and over. I phoned Samsung and have… Read more
to say I give their customer service staff 10 out of 10. They arranged a service technician to come out on the same day I phoned. The technician seemed to fix the issue but a week later the same problem returned whereby when I again spoke to Samsung, without hesitation, they told me they would replace the unit with a brand new piece and would deliver it next day!. I was really blown away. I expected them to say they would send the technician back but never in my wildest dreams imagined they would offer a new unit. The new unit has been working fantastically and I love everything about it. I have since bought a number of other Samsung items because I am so happy with the service. They are my favourite brand without fail!
Never again buy Samsung – When you have a problem you ring and get on to overseas they cannot understand you call you by the wrong name etc. They talk over you.and in the end no further advanced with faulty fridge.they say they will replace it, But the delivery company leave a message and say ring them between 10 and 1 mobile.nobody there to take your call.shocking. so bad. freezes up

Know better, choose better.
Love! Will never go back to side by side – Our side by side finally fell on its backside so off we trotted to the Good Guys for an upgrade. We weren't looking for anything specific when this magnificent beast beckoned us over - "Look at me! Look at the kind of platters you could fit inside me! Look Look Look!" We fell for it's charm and carted it home. It was well and truly a beast, it… Read more
couldn't fit through our door! So up and over the deck it jumped, taking out a few railings in its wake, but at last it found it's home, nestled up close with the pantry.
We had a few little hiccups, the beast did not want to make us ice! But out ran the Samsung guy and fixed it right up. We even received our 'cash back' a few months later, which was a nice surprise. Following our recent 'cash back' let downs from other companies we were over the moon!
The trusty hubby deals with all the plumbing side of things and didn't make too much of a fuss so the beast must of treated him well in that regard too. So all in all - We recommend! Bright! Large! Ice machines sounds like its dying when you use - but it produces the goods
Good Entry Level Fridge for Water & Ice – We recently had to replace our side by side fridge/freezer. We were limited to about 3-4 fridges to choose from (in the sidebyside or french door range) due to the 90mm cavity. After looking at them all and the price we chose this Samsumg french door fridge. I wasn't sure if it would match the storage capacity of my old one (not good at… Read more
visulising) however its fits everything we need, remove the need to keep water bottles in the fridge - just have to fill the tank up everynight & makes plenty of ice. My husband just emptyies the ice bin into the esky to keep the beers cold when we head out to bbq's etc - just perfect (pretty much one bag of ice).
The outside finish is relatively resistant to marking but a quick wipe over, keeps it looking great.
very happy with the purchase - my first brand new fridge! Good entry level fridge with water and ice have to buy filter seperately for the ice. no filter on water (just a tank to fill) but no biggy
Bad – Overall, I am very unhappy with SAMSUNG and this refrigerator. This is a $2300 refrigerator, and the failure to provide the promised water filter, and the approx $300 cost to me to purchase it at retail has soured this experience. It is mean spirited and not worthy of a major brand. If I was making the purchase decision for a refrigerator again I… Read more
would completely disregard any bias to “Brand Names”.
When one favours a product because of a brand name, it is because there is an expectation that the “Brand” indicates a superior quality of build from an ethical company with integrity, backed up by an acceptable level of customer service.
In my experience with Samsung, every expectation of customer service and integrity has been dashed. To those contemplating purchasing a SRF528DSIS, (or any Samsung brand product) I would suggest that you should think again, and make any other choice. My single most important criteria for buying this make, was product width to suit a space. Big Mistake.
In my opinion, there are much better products available, and at a much better price. This is not a cheaply priced product and any brand that publishes a misleading specifications and exhibits downright meanness with regard to customer service can not be tolerated. Looks Nice. Truly fits within a standard 900mm cavity. Nice style.
Controls and temperature displays discretely tucked away behind the doors, and only visible and lit while door is open.
Large drinking water reserve ensuring plentiful supply of chilled water
LED lights inside make the interior bright.
Movable Fresh box a very usefull feature.
So far has functioned adequately. 1.Misleading specifications (I’m being polite with the term “misleading”)
When looking for a “Plumb in” refrigerator, I wanted to buy one with an external Water Filter, rather than proprietary internal. The specifications for SRF528DSIS clearly state “Inline Water Filter – Yes”. When the refrigerator arrives, Guess What? NO FILTER!!!!! Read the manual which is provided only after the item has been purchased, and tucked away in the installation instructions it says Water Filter NOT PROVIDED (Contrary to specifications). The Customer is expected to pay ANOTHER $300 on top of the price of the fridge to buy a filter assembly that other manufacturers include in the price. The icemaker cannot be used until I somehow resolve this problem and complete the plumbing.
Other “misleading” specifications:
Total shelves 3, not 4 in spec (unless they are counting floor of fridge as a shelf.
No of Tempered Glass Shelves 3, not 4
No Door pockets 5, Not 6
Egg Container listed in specification but not provided.
Apart from the Filter, all these other discrepencies in the specification can at least be seen from comparing the spec with the published gallery pictures, but I expect truthfulness from major brands, and that they should be accountable.
2. Non existent Customer service response.
Well, I thought the missing water filter and the misleading specifications was an intolerable state of affairs in this country, so fired off a request to what SAMSUNG laughingly call customer service. With typical “Brand Name” arrogance, they did not even acknowledge the request let alone reply. I followed up with another one 2 weeks later which was answered essentially saying go and fight it out with the retailer. We don’t want to know. This however is NOT a retailer issue.
I don’t hold out much hope for any help if the refrigerator develops problems.
3.Cheap feeling plastic freezer drawers. Feel like they are about to snap at any time.
Cheap build of external doors. Not Stainless Steel doors, but Stainless veneer over mild steel sheet. They will still rust in time. For the extra price of the stainless look refrigerator I would expect the doors to be real Stainless Steel like my Dishwasher and Oven (other Brands) , instead of cheap look-alike.
3 makes strange and weird “groaning” noises and sometime the sound of trickling water. Doesn’t fill me with confidence.
4. Can’t open righthand vegetable door without having to open both external doors.
French doors don’t close easily or by themselves. Doors constantly being left open, and alarm (after 2 mins ) is too quiet to hear from another room.
Cant fault it – When a fridge is set at the proper temperature its amazing how fruits and vegetable last (old fridge we would shop Saturday and be throwing out veg by Thursday. extra large and roomy inside,Freezer is extra large as well illumination is brilliant in both top bottom. did have a noise problem but fix it the ice maker button was on hence the noise it made I cant fault it Nowhere to put the eggs Show reply
Great refrigerator – I have read several reviews for this refrigerator and the majority have mentioned a loud and/or distracting noise. I have had this item for 6 months and find it whisper quiet. This refrigerator is large enough for a family of 6 (4 teenage/young adult male) without food getting 'lost". The temp controls are easy to read and adjust to ensure cold… Read more
fresh food.
The water compartment is easy to refill and a perfect temp.
Freezer has plenty of room. The ice maker makes lots of ice, the storage compartment holds plenty of ice and can hold 4 ice trays on top for when you need extra. Affordable, stylish, reliable Have not found any
Makes very weird noises – This refridgerator will sometimes, for five seconds, sound like an old Harley Davidson motorcycle, then go on to make various clicking and switching noises along with the normal humming noise, along with a few dull thumpng noises. You'll think there's a burglar in your house! I don't know if this is normal - I called service and they asked me to… Read more
call back when it stops working, which it hasn't as yet. That's not very reassuring. By the noises it makes, I guess this will occur shortly after the warranty expires!
Quality-wise, it is quite good, although the doors are roughly fitted and sag on their hinges.
To be positive about something, I can say that it does work (for a whole three months now!) and fits into our 900mm cavity. It also looks pretty good. Just hope it keeps going with all those weird noises! Looks good, space saver design. Noisey, poor door fit.
I had that noise problem too one i read up on instruction make sure the NO ICE is off it has to be… Read more
