Terrible!!! – This fridge started leaking water into the crisper drawer and freezing just 6 months after warranty expired. Samsung has sent someone three times to fix the issue and keeps leaking. Now fourth time leaking they are saying it is "not repairable". I did research online and I see there are a whopping 26 models of Samsung fridges with this issue.… Read more
Samsung has been involved with a class action lawsuit in the USA. There is also a FB group called SAMSUNG REFRIGERATOR RECALL USA NOW with 89.6K members I have just joined. I am trying to get a refund from samsung they are denying me a claim. I will take it up with the ACCC as this is apparently a MANUFACTURING DEFECT. Note that servicing the issue is just a bandaid fix and the problem will just reoccur months or weeks later and samsung is aware of this.
The Fridge that just cant be fixed! – I Bought the Samsung 579DLS in 2013, a couple of years went by and pooling in the bottom of the fridge started happening. I contacted Samsung and they advised it was on going issue. Tech came out in 2016 and moved the defrost sensor, just bandaided the issue. Now i have the same issue again but its not cooling as the fan is frozen over. Ill never buy another Samsung Fridge again! Show details
Piece of rubbish, same problem every 2 years or so – Back panel condensation, freezes up, water all through crisper, underneath, and iced up. Food wastage. Told first time it was replaced that it was a known problem and this would fix it. Nope, these past two weeks, started again for the 4th time!!!! Refund or replacement should be offered, no more band aid fixes!!!! Show details

Easy fix for water in crisper problem – I have owned the fridge for about 5yrs and recently it started developing the common water in the crisper issue. Here is how I fixed it, easily. 1. Turn it off 2. Remove all internal shelves and drawers in fridge and freezer 3. Remove the internal back panel to expose the thermostat (it's just screws but do it carefully) 4. Find the thermostat… Read more · 1
clip at the base (metal T shaped clip on the defrost pipes) 5. Remove it and pour hot water into frozen over drain until all ice is gone, may take a while... 6. Mop up any water etc in fridge 7. Replace T clip how it was but attach the clips hooks tightly to the defrost pipes so it conducts more heat. Use needle nose pliers etc 8. Replace rear internal panel 9. Turn fridge on 10. You may find a small amount of water continues to drain into the crisper for a day or so but from then it should be working fine. 11. Basically the clip conducts warmth from the pipes to defrost ice buildup, it just has worked loose. Good luck
Technicians thoughts – As a tech for 20 yrs I’d give a 5 on price. On design I’d give a 3 reading the issues about the blocked drain and icing up of the fan. I can’t say so much as a design fault rather then a consideration they use a more flammable resistant insulation around the housing of the drain and fan, I suppose was to protect the consumer incase of an… Read more
electrical fault causing fire. This insulation doesn’t do as good a job at preventing moisture from building up in the cavity’s freezing and getting bigger. Plus some fault lies with the consumer which most will deny, its important not to put hot food in the fridge and not to leave the door open for long pireids. But even after doing this long humid summers will cause moisture to accumulate and if problem is not diagnosed early will have lots of moisture build up on the inside of the insulation which can’t be repaired or evaporated. But I’ve come up with a fix for this, I install a weak heater around the fan and drain and all my customers have had no problems for years. Also there’s a miner issue with the removable water dispenser container. That spout at the bottom is a weak point and can break I would recommend getting a 2 litre jug and filling from the large opening on top. All in all not a bad fridge.
Perfect until now – Have loved this fridge but in the last few weeks crispers have filled with water and it is becoming a real nuisance have emptied everything out cleaned it all then 2 days later the water is back hopefully we can get this fixed very soon as it is frustrating and a waste ov vegs Show details · 2

Disappointing – Started having water pooling issues in the crisper apart from that fridge worked fine ,rang Samsung customer support ,sry your fridge is out of warranty nothing we can do ,so jumped on line to see if anyone also had the same problems ,low and behold a common problem that a manufacturer has decided to wipe their hands of ,we didn’t bother trying… Read more
to get it fixed as it appeared with others that tried it didn’t really solve the issue so we keep cleaning the water on a regular intervals until we can afford to buy another fridge and not a Samsung one either
Worst Fridge ever – Bought the fridge in 2014, it has never worked properly since day 1. Samsung has stopped returning our calls and e mails. Over the years we have lost hundreds of dollars of food. Every month I have to take the fridge apart to defrost it myself. Their fridges should come with a hairdryer and a food voucher. Best advice, don’t buy a Samsung fridge. Show details

product in the first place. I think the only reason it keeps going is to torture me with having to defrost it. Please don't try and contact me samsuck as you never did before!!! My original review follows- Lemon with a capital L Samsung have gone too far with cost reduction on this model- much like their fire starting washing machines and latest phones. The company has always produced cheap products of barely acceptable quality. Their phone division was the exception but it has now joined the rest of the company with sub standard products. (Don't try to take one on an aeroplane) The fridge corner buckled getting it out of its original packaging as the sheet metal was so thin. It required service after about 12 months for the icing issue and again about 10 months later for the same issue. It is now another 14 months down the track, out of warranty and has started flooding the crisper drawers again. I will never buy a Samsung product again. Be warned!!! Problems – Unfortunately the water pooling issue started just a short time after the warranty had expired. We ended up getting a tech out to fix it, was a really quick fix but he did say it was a common problem and will probably keep happening. Cost around the $200 mark at the time. Was going ok for a while but the the water pooling started again about a… Read more
year ago, so we’ve just been emptying the crisper drawer. Now the fridge stopped, freezer is fine though. So researching other fridges now, not Samsung. Sadly it’s been a really bad experience like our Samsung split system air cond. but that’s another story. Only good Samsung appliance in our house is the washing machine but I won’t be buying Samsung again, not even a galaxy. Just not great experiences. Sorry I don’t like giving bad reviews, but I have no choice here. Really disappointed.

Faulty but fixable if you persevere – We had a Samsung fridge which worked well for about a year or so. faulty it shouldn’t matter) they agreed to fix it under warranty. When the tech came, he acknowledged that it was a common fault however it was easily fixed by replacing a few parts. After this was done, the fridge is back to normal. I’m happy with the service I received from Samsung eventually and would suggest to anyone else experiencing this problem , contact them ! They will fix it.

Disgusting service. Completely shattered – I had a Samsung fridge that was inspected by a Samsung technician and deemed a manufacturers fault. ($2,549) so I'm out of pocket. Then everything went really bad. They agreed to a refund but never told me I had to keep the faulty unit. When I purchased the new unit, the retailer took away the old one. Now Samsung are refusing the refund altogether. I can't believe how disgusting this it. Completely ridiculous. It was inspected by Samsung and deemed faulty. As per all of these reviews they know it is there issue. I've now gone to NSW Fair Trading and happy to inform the ACCC as well! Disgusting thing for them to do!

Shame on you Samsung. Going to Consumer Affairs – Samsung sent out an independent technician to assess my elderly mother’s fridge which was pooling water in the crisper. have the receipt because she moved after my dad passed away and we tried to get a replacement receipt but the Harvey Norman she bought it from is now closed down and another Harvey Norman didn’t have the records. the outlet. This new part/ modification was supposed to solve the problem. Have learnt to live with it i suppose. Not prepared to throw out just yet as I believe it was a costly investment. Now the fridge has stopped cooling. Local repair agents say they will not repair Samsung products as dealing with Samsung is not worth the headache. Looks like its going to the recycling yard now. I will never purchase another Samsung product as I live, whether it be a TV, phone, refrigerator, etc. I will not allow another Samsung product to take place in my home. Samsung, you are a disgrace! this issue on and off from the start but definitely gotten worse over the years. A couple of months ago we had issues with the fridge not cooling and got a technician out and he said it was because it was all frozen inside so the fan wasn't working properly because it was frozen. He couldn't get the panel off to look inside as it was frozen and would have broken if he forced it so just told us to turn the fridge off and defrost it for a few days and it should be fine after that. So we did that and yes it started cooling again, but the only until the next time it freezes over which it has already started to do. The crisper drawrs are totally unuseable due to the 2-3cm of water pooling in them. We are on the hunt for a new fridge now and have DEFINITELY ruled out any Samsung models.

Nice fridge, shame about the same part that keeps breaking and costs $400 to fix each time – We took out an extended warranty on our fridge. The motor iced over, water dripped under the freezer at the bottom and froze over, and very cold water continually dripped into the vege crispers. We had it repaired -part was replaced. Job done, we thought. The warranty expired, and March this year the problem had returned so badly the fridge… Read more
became super noisy from ice on the motor and then the motor stopped. Defrosting it repeatedly had not fixed it. We called Samsung and got their "authorized repair technician" to repair it. This cost us $400. He replaced the part and said this time it should be fixed as the part was better
This week, after months of defrosting and chipping ice and mopping up sodden vegetables, we called them out again. This time the tech made no promises. He said it was a known fault, and it probably WOULD happen and just to defrost it for two days running any time it happened - what a great idea, when it has a freezer full of goods that cannot be defrosted and re-frozen. Then charged us another $400
Samsung are offering to send out a repairman, two days after we had it repaired by their authorized repairman I think that's as useless a response as an umbrella in a cyclone.
The product has a known fault, has had the same bit replaced 3 times, and has cost us $800. The decent thing to do would either give us the same model and let us take our chances - it can't be any worse than it already is - or give us a discount on a model WITHOUT a known fault. And no, I don't usually whinge about products or service online, but this is really quite unfair. I should have just chucked it out, and added to the burden of environmental waste I guess rather than expecting it to be a decent and reliable product for nearly $2000.

I have called Samsung and had advised them this is a known manufacturer issue and many customer are faced with this issue but I was just advised to call the Samsung authorized repair and fix it myself at my own cost for a call out fee of $125-$165 (not including parts). If this is due to the customers fault that's fine but this is just bad design and build of this model why does the customer need to pay for this.
This has been a very bad experience for us we will NEVER purchase another Samsung Fridge again and if anyone is considering purchasing one, I will tell them what ever you do, DON'T buy Samsung.
I can see many customers have complained about Samsung Fridges, please fix this issue. This actually deserves a ZERO star.

Have given up on going through the hassle of reporting and organising for the repairs. Have been dealing with the fan issue with removing all contents, unplugging and defrost the fridge completely for over 48 hrs. It is very tedious but wasn’t too bad during winter. But since it is getting warmer now I really don’t know what to do with the food. And it is having the same issue again today.
The Samsung washing machine I bought with this fridge at the same time broke down even within a year. And had gotten repaired two times on the same issue.
All and all the experience with Samsung appliances has been very frustrating and with great regrets. Will steer away from Samsung for good. Again I appreciate all the helps from the service center but they really can’t do much with faulty models and designs.

warm. Everything in the freezer completely defrosted, everything in the fridge warm. Hundreds of dollars of food had to be thrown out. I contacted Samsung to have it repaired as it is only 5 yrs old. If I am spending $1600 on a fridge, I expect it to work for longer than 5 years. Since then, I have been told they won't be repairing it but they will escalate it to another department to see if they will accept the repair. I wait 2 days then hear from the next department, "Sorry, it is out of warranty so we won't be giving you a free repair". I expect this will be the runaround I receive from them until they hope I give up. Australian Consumer Law states an item like this should do what its supposed to for a "reasonable period of time". 5 yrs is well within this time frame.
My advice is to steer clear of Samsung fridges. I see this model is now discontinued (I'm not surprised given how many unhappy customers they have) but the fact that they won't repair what they know is faulty is a big black mark as far as I am concerned.
18/10/19: Update After contacting Samsung and Consumer Affairs, Samsung have agreed to repair the fridge free of charge. I am happy with this outcome. Ultimately, I still think this Samsung fridge model is flawed because of this ongoing repair so I still wouldn't recommend it. However as I have only had this model and don't have anything else to compare it to, I don't know if other newer models would have the same problem. One would think that with all the repairs the company has had to do to this model, they would have rectified the issue with newer models.
Thank you for doing the right thing Samsung.
