Worked OK till it failed; catastrophically! – Bought this washing machine after being sold on front loaders after 20 years of top loaders. It worked fine at first but failed with a main board out within 11 months - and for some reason this didn't surprise or phase me one bit. This was quickly repaired on site under warranty and the unit worked perfectly fine for another 5+ years with… Read more
multiple, varying, loads daily and after being moved several times. I primarily used the daily cycle. quick wash or bedding cycles. So probably average 10-12 loads per week. I found the unit easy to use; well balanced, fairly quiet and efficient and the little add wash door invaluable. Even with the little hiccup early on it was pretty good, especially for an $800 unit.
But..... Today it decided that my journey was over - it failed catastrophically.
One of the arms of the Spider assembly that holds the barrel to the motor casing failed at 1400 RPM, causing the barrel to move off centre and forwards; and proceeded to shred both the inside plastic housing, but also the front seal. After pricing all the parts that would need to be replaced and factoring in labour; well, new washer hey - $800 vs at least $500.
This is very much a shame as after reading several forum posts and reviews it appears this is both a well known and relatively common failure with most lower/mid priced front loaders from lots of manufacturers: galvanic corrosion of the aluminium spider assembly causing the arms to eventually bend or snap after about 5-6 years This is not a issue with stainless steel or cast assemblies apparently. Maybe all manufacturers should use them, hey? Add about $50 to the price?
Anyhoo; would I recommend? Well, for everything but the failures, yes. But I dunno; 6 years for a washing machine? Maybe it's the going rate these days and too much to expect more.
Best machine ever – Love this machine I’ve owned for 3yrs and never had an issue i maintain it as instructed and always clean inside it as instructed still going strong Show details · 1
Fine till they need repairing – Our 8.5kg front loader washer has now had it's control board replaced twice in less than 6 months. Total parts cost of $580 plus repairer labour costs. Samsung told repairer they only give 3 months warranty on parts so clearly they don't think they make quality appliances. We won't be buying another when this one breaks down. Show details
Stopped working after less then 3 years – The machine is not draining water anymore after just over 2.5 years. We ran it 2 times a week approximately, so has not worked much at all. Never had a washing machine breaking down so quickly before, but this was also my first Samsung washer. Show details
Stupid – Doesn't dry properly at all. Have done all troubleshooting required. I hope whoever designed this machine lives older than their children. Show details

disappointing support from Samsung – The front labels have begun to wipe off after only 2 years 3 months Show details
Love my machine – I wash all types of clothes in my machine, my sons work clothes he is a truck driver so comes home with grease and oil on his clothes, my sheets and blankets, baby clothes, towels, and they all come out perfect, no fluff on them even if there is a tissue in there, it stays wholes. Cycle times are good the daily wash is 49 mins and steam wash is 2 hours but will worth it.
Piece of crap – Bought just over a year ago. Fabric softener deposit tray has never worked and just goes smelly after the wash. After a load of washing the metal ring came off and the rubber seal got ripped by it. I called and told Harvey Norman/Samsung and I got told it was because I did too many loads of washing…. I am a 2 person household that does maybe 3 a… Read more
week, I didn’t know washing machines has a limit to how many loads. Then when I questioned this they then decided to tell me I actually pulled the seal out myself and ripped it while taking clothes out even though this actually happened mid wash and put water all over my laundry floor. After contacting Harvey Norman again they just didn’t reply, I guess that’s how you don’t have to warrant your warranty. Piece of crap don’t buy a Samsung washer
Great washer for a large family – I have had this washer now for 2 years. It had a minor issue with it stopping at the drain part but a technician came out within days to fix it with no charges. I love the song at the end. I am happy with the cycle times and the quick cycle and I get a lot of use of the Bubble soak for my husbands work clothes. My favourite feature is the delay… Read more
end. I put the clothes in before I go to bed and have them set to be finished by the timer I wake up. Great machine for a large family and I hope I get many years use out of it...if not I'll definitely upgrade to the add wash version to match my heat pump dryer.
Awful. Nothing but issues!!! – Nothing but issues since we brought it. Latest issue is computer control panel has gone and samsung blaming customer induced damage considering we have not touch/ tried to repair. Customer service is poor. Show details
Would not recommend – The Power Control went which costs nearly as much to replace as buying a new machine after 2 years of washing for one person. Would have expected more longevity from this machine. Show details
Hate it! – I bought this machine in 2019. Since then I had a baby and we changed energy tariffs so that we would have cheaper rates at night and I was going to wash at night. Well... this machine is so loud when you turn it on or change the programs that it wakes my daughter up. I can turn the melody at the end of cycle off but not all the stupid beep sounds… Read more
it makes at other times. I spoke to Samsung and after being pushed back and forth they said they can't help me as it's not a fault. If I had known about this I would never have bought it! I wanted a washing machine and not a musical instrument!!! Also loads of stuff like socks etc get stuck in the seal so that you have to rewash them again and again or you have to put everything into wash bags.... what a stupid design this machine is!
Seal Broken and bad customer service! – I have only had this washing machine for 6 months and the seal has broke from a general wash. After calling Samsung, they took 2 weeks to finally get back to me and tell me my warranty doesn't covered under 'accidental damage'. For the seal to break during a general wash, I believe that it was a faulty seal making this a warranty claim. Show details

Buyer beware – Do not buy, there is a known fault with the seal. Samsung refuse to fix or acknowledge the fault to be their responsibility. See image of Samsung’s response. Just ignore this product as their support is terrible in Australia. “My name is not Durpreep” Show details

Terrible Customer Service, Terrible Machine – The drum has come loose after 1.5 years (still under warranty) which has damaged other parts of the machine but Samsung still thinks this is an easy repair and not a major problem. Even the repair company that inspected my machine said it wasn't an easy repair. And despite this Samsung has refused request for a refund despite it being a major… Read more
problem which under Australian Consumer Law I have a right to request/get a refund for. I have contacted Samsung customer support team multiple times, every time they tell me that someone will get back to me withing 24 to 48 hour, but then nothing happens. The follow up service is horrible, never again!

Customer service non-existent with little care for customer satisfaction – The washing machine i have owned for 2 years no issues. Coming close to 2 year warranty mark my rubber seal broke due to wear and tear and they refused to fix under warranty. It costs $260 to fix this common occurring problem. Would not recommend buying it for that issue. Show details

Terrible performance, terrible Service – I have had this machine for just over a year now. The machine has been working temperamentally, stops half way through the cycle and have to keep resetting it. It eventually stopped at the spin level. I have referred it to Samsung, they sent a repair company who couldn't fix it. It has since stalled. I have contacted Samsung customer support team… Read more

Cleans and good value – Decent washer, cleans clothes, sound is average, 8.5k is a good size suitable for family of 4, the price was really good I got it in the end of year sale. Show details
Good customer service – I am very pleased with the customer care .. machine had some issues with door seal pack after10 months of purchase , due to corona pandemic they couldn’t fix the issue through service centre .. but replaced with a new washing machine.. I am so glad that their response to customer is appreciable. Show reply
Samsung has no after sales service at all! – Great machine, washed well but after 12 mo that it literally fell apart behind the drum. Called Samsung as under warranty and been trying to get a resolution now for over 3 months. I would never touch this brand machine again as they run you around and refuse to fix a broken product. Great choice, very happy with it! – After reading many reviews i decided to go with the Samsung Bubblewash and Im so glad i did. My favourite feature is the 15 minute cycle which is very handy when you have 3 kids and piles of clothes to get through on a daily basis. The clothes come out well washed and the machine is fairly quiet when running. Having the child lock feature is very… Read more
handy although the only negative is that even with the child lock on, the on/off button can still be pressed so i have to make sure the laundry door is closed so my child doesnt go and turn it off. The front loader also uses much less water and you need much less powder/product than a top loading washine machine. I will never go back!!
Over powering smell of rubber – I have had this machine 3 months now and from the moment it was installed there was a revolting, absolutely over powering smell of rubber which makes my clothes and newly renovated laundry stink during and after a wash. I contacted Samsung who sent a service man who said he couldn't smell a thing which was so frustrating given friends and family… Read more
have mentioned the smell whenever they go near my laundry. The service man told me to rinse with white vinegar which did nothing. The smell seems to becoming from the rubber seal and you can imagine how that smells when it heats up. Also doesn't really wash that well either, white duvets and sheets are still coming out with yellow sweat stains on - this never happened with my previous machine - very disappointed!

Stopped working! – Had it for two years. and now it has stopped working. tried having a look myself. Motor, PCB etc. seem to be fine but washing machine does not spin. $200 for a call-out of a technician or replacing the whole thing for $600 with 2 years warranty. This has been disappointing!

Perfect – Its perfect and I like it a lot. The washing cycles are not so long and it has a quick wash for 15 mins and daily wash for just over an hour. Show details
DO NOT BUY- FAULTY DESIGN – Bought this unit 11 months ago. Like many other Samsung Washing machines, it has a major issue: leaking problem due to bad door and sealing design. In Samsung technician report, it is mentioned that, it is not covered by warranty as an object stuck between door and sealing. So, Samsung needs to give a new instruction to their buyers and ask them… Read more
to watch the machine while it is working and make sure nothing gets between the door and sealing. So, if you are reading my review and planning to buy this washing machine, thinks twice.

Expensive piece of rubbish – I bought my Samsung 8.5 kg front loader ww85J54101W in October 2015, loved it at first a few minor problems when out of warranty, but now I'm sure the whole street can hear it ! $699 for not even 4 years, my Maytag lasted 25 years, Not even going to waste my time getting someone out, this time I'll do my research, definitely not Samsung! . Bought two machines, both lasted 3-4 years only!! – Probably shouldn't have replaced my first Samsung front loader when it died after only four years with another Samsung front loader! Again after three years my washing machine just stopped dead, mid cycle last Saturday. Surely these machines are meant to last longer than 3-4 years?? So painful waiting around for a service technician and then to be… Read more

Excellent product - we love it! – We are very happy with this machine -- great variety of wash cycles which can easily be customised, very quiet operation, 1400 spin cycle which doesn't leave clothes and linen permanently creased -- and is quite economical on the water. The excellent price also meant we could afford an upgrade from 7.5kg to 8.5kg which is good for all the washable bedding as it has a bit more room.
