I left the property in better condition than I got it, and they still took money from the deposit (for cleaning), even though I deep-cleaned beforehand. Total [Content Removed] company and staff. Their support is just useless—complained multiple times, zero action.

The property is poorly managed: • Electricity bills are sent without any breakdown, and there is no way to verify actual usage for individual units. The costs keep increasing, and I was even threatened with rent arrears for not paying these unverified invoices. • Noise disturbances from disrespectful co-tenants are frequent and go unresolved. • A washing machine was installed without hot water access, despite being listed as a provided amenity. • Emails are mostly ignored, or they reply asking for more “photos” instead of taking action. These are recurring, unresolved issues — not isolated incidents.

ShareSorted mixes up utility charges with rental payments, in breach of basic rental norms. This is not a professional property manager — this is a business cutting corners at the expense of tenants’ health, safety, and legal rights.

I’ve filed official complaints with: • NSW Fair Trading • NCAT • Inner West Council

If you’re considering renting with them, think again.

hidden. Their emails made it seem like things were being handled, but in reality, nothing was done. It honestly felt like they were holding my bond as ransom, with an attitude of “if you don’t like it, leave and we’ll keep your money.” This was even more stressful because the bond was lodged in their private account, not with NSW bond authorities. When I eventually left the property in clean condition, they still took $300 from my bond for “cleaning”, even though I had paid for professional cleaners myself. Their whole approach felt bullying, dismissive, and focused only on making money off tenants. I would strongly advise anyone to stay away from ShareSorted. They are unprofessional, misleading, and clearly don’t care about tenants’ rights or wellbeing.

Strongly suggest not to rent through them. Properties in bad conditions, worst cleaning service and disrespectful managers. Without saying they wont give back your bond.

I arrived to find a visibly broken door that wouldn’t shut and a leaking bathroom sink. It took them a full week to send someone to do basic repairs. During that time, I was afraid to leave the property because of the insecure door and the number of random people coming in and out of the shared areas.

That wasn’t the end of it. The fire alarm was faulty and would go off at 1 a.m. every night for a week. There were four days without hot water. The shared bins were only emptied once a week, which meant they constantly overflowed.

Getting my bond back was another nightmare. Since I was paying rent from a UK account, I didn’t have an Australian bank account. When I gave notice, they told me they could not return the bond to a foreign account — only accept payments from one — and would hold the deposit unless I provided local banking details. I had to open an Australian bank account just to get my bond back.

In the end, they still deducted A$300 for "cleaning services", despite the fact I spent hours cleaning the place and left it spotless. They removed furniture and appliances just to find traces of dust so they could justify the charge.

Honestly, I'm shocked that companies like ShareSorted are allowed to operate in a developed country like Australia. In many other places, these practices would likely be considered unethical or even illegal.

Don't listen to the 5 star reviews. Sharesorted. Particular Aloysius is a joke and incompetent. UNHYGIENIC AND UNSAFE PLACE. We just paid rent and used the studio as a garage to store our luggage and stayed elsewhere until found a place. My Mistake is to put trust on the agent named OSCAR(don't even know if it's his real name or not) who came to show the studio during inspection. Once application approved and made all payments, that so called agent didn't even pick up a single call or no response to any of messages. He lied about parking and Toilet. that's why he didn't respond to me. They don't care about their tenants, They're bloody Parasites. No service response(Maintenance of Toilet) or no request was done once we pay the money. Basic thing is a toilet to stay in a place but they didn't even fix the toilet issue even after chasing back and forth with multiple emails and calls. Although unresponsive to maintenance requests, they send threatening emails and messages(multiple breach notices) if the rent is delayed a day or 2, as they assume everyone are like them. I think this particular company model is established only to suck tenants blood for their living while Exploiting and Abusing the tenants with the inflated home rental system. couldn't care less about the well-being of their tenants and the urgent issues that they're facing. They're extremely slow - and at times they straight up ignore you - with pressing issues that any other company would have tried to make an effort to rectify. During my time living in one of their apartments, we weren't given a mailbox key (took 2 weeks to get sorted), our oven stopped working (took almost a month to fix) and we had a leak in the ceiling (took THREE WHOLE MONTHS -- with video proof as well as photos of the damage to show the severity of the issue). You miss a day on your rental payment and they're on you like moth to a light. You decide to end your lease and follow all the guidelines in their contract and they will still find a reason to deduct half your "bond" (I put in quotes because it's not actually a bond but a security deposit). Nevermind the fact that some people move in to find their rooms in complete shambles, filthy, or not at all presentable for a person moving in. So I wouldn't trust these 5-star reviews. ShareSorted don't have a google business page because they were constantly receiving 1-star reviews for their poor service and lack of care in their tenants.

15/04 was the official date, with no mention of 10/04 being enforceable, and was assured that if the room was filled earlier, I’d receive sufficient notice to vacate and be refunded rent for days not spent there. After giving notice, they began viewings, and after one such viewing, I came home to find my bedroom door wide open, unlocked, lights left on, and belongings missing—including trainers and a necklace. Whether stolen by housemates, staff, or prospective tenants, I never found out, and no proper investigation or outcome was ever provided. They promised in response to give 24 hours’ notice before future viewings, to check my availability, and to ensure the door was locked—none of which happened. On Saturday 12/04 at 11:58am, I received an email saying I had to vacate by 12:00pm, giving me just two minutes’ notice. I was away at my partner’s, rushed back in a panic, and packed under intense stress while trying to call and email, but no one responded. I forwarded them the email confirming my move-out date as 15/04, and only later did they acknowledge their error - without apology or accountability. There was also a major cockroach issue only addressed after I mentioned withholding rent. You cannot reach a real person, emergency calls are diverted to voicemail or non-emergency calls are told to email. I never met a single staff member after the inspection; my keys were left under a rock on move-in day. There was no accountability, no real communication, and no respect for tenants throughout. I’ve stayed in hostels with better management. AVOID this agency.
