Don’t waste your money!!!
Bought the Sharp R350EW 13 months ago. Now it displays E5 and heats intermittently and at low power. Sometimes there is no heating at all. Some months earlier the light began flickering and the plate rotation became noisy and irregular!! Like mine, I’m seeing online that many of these faults are occurring just outside the 12 month warranty period!! Many years ago I inherited my mother’s Toshiba microwave, she’d used it for 10 years, and I used it for 10 years before it failed. I replaced the magnetron and it ran for another 10 years and I only got rid of it to update the look. That one was Made in Japan. Now it’s all Chinese junk!!! Not impressed!! Bought Jan 2020, noticed rusting/peeling on roof at around 9 months but still functioned without fault. Last week the wife called me saying microwave is making sparking/arcing noises and smells like burning plastic. Tested the next day, impressive sparks leading to flames.... Thought we'd get a few more years but alas no. Noticed that same model is now going for around $250 but have moved brands anyway. Show detailsThis is a great microwave
I purchased this Sharp Inverter microwave, model R350EW. My best microwave yet. Perfect size. Very easy to work. Many different functions. I've cooked many different dishes that I never even thought to microwave.Jan 2020 - Oct 2023 RIP **Error Code E-5**
Can't believe it. Error code E-5. Tried a switch off and back on but simply will not heat the food.Barely used and barely lasted. I say this as I had a Sharp Inverter in the grey look prior to this purchase which gave me well over 10 years (yes it is true)...that is why I went with the same.
Regretful purchase (delayed reaction).
Purchased from Good Guys in Jan 2020 for $190 and now online retail shows from $279 at Harvey Norman, $299 at Good Guys or $309 at JB Hi Fi.
From the web.....The E5 error code on a microwave indicates a problem with the keypad. This could be due to a short circuit in one or more of the buttons, a failure in the connection between the buttons and the microcomputer, or a malfunction of the microcomputer itself . Show details
This is the WORST microwave ever!!
I have had this microwave for a few months whenever cook anything with small amount of water when finished oven is dripping wet even cooking frozen vege Show detailsMicrowave in flames after 3 years
I bought this Sharp to replace a long lasting reliable Sharp model. I bought it on 27 December 2019 at Myer and it died 7 October 2023. The flames caused my wife to scream out- Microwave is on fire! It was not cheap and when it worked it was fine. The trouble is it lasted less than four years. Show detailsNothing like our old sharp microwave
This microwave is nothing like our old sharp microwave which we had for 18 years. It is really noisy & nothing I do except take out the whole turn table stops it.
It doesn’t have a less or more option which I used all the time with my old one. I didn’t think I would need it but the sensor takes so long to cook it overcooks & you can’t reduce the time. It also has very limited choices unlike the old model. The defrost option also takes longer and you can’t just touch your choice & start you have to put in the weight every time but it only lets... Read more you choose within 1/2 - 1kg and then I end up doing it longer because it’s still half frozen?? So you just end up putting in your own time which defeats the purpose of the sensor & defrost buttons. Sharp you really need to pick up your game!
Don't buy this microwave
My last Sharp microwave lasted 18 years. This one is just over 2 years old and has the seemingly popular error of E-5 with electrical smell and won't heat. Won't be buying a Sharp microwave again.Microwave
This little microwave is OK if you live on your own or small family. It doesn't matter if your reheating or cooking from scratch, it's handy.I make a lot of rice dishes, pasta, vegetable dishes and use it for reheating the next day. It also has a defrost function.

Get E-5 error after 2 years
It seems i am just another victim of many E-5 errors. Sharp is going downhill with his legendary microwave. Show detailsPAINT COMING OFF THE ROOF INSIDE AND RUSTED
I purchased approximately a year ago the Sharp microwave model R-395E(BS) serial number 005411239. The roof inside the microwave looks terrible and has sections where the paint has peeled off and is now rusty. I wrote to customer service to ask for advice and the response received was that rust is not covered under warranty. Show detailsThis is not the Sharp microwave you know and trust
Replaced an older Sharp microwave with the same specs. But where the old microwave gave a solid 10 years of service, and right to the very last day cooked all food through perfectly and to spec, this new model, takes minutes longer to cook the same dishes (despite the same wattage rating), and even with extra cooking time leaves multiple cold spots through a dish, not cooking evenly at all. Buttons also feel flimsy and highly unlikely to last 10 years this time around. Of additional note, we found out after our purchase that ownership of Sharp ... Read morehad changed hands to Foxconn, and they no longer manufacture the majority of their products in Japan. The new microwave presents much more as a product built to a (cheap) price point, than the quality it used to represent. When this microwave fails, we will look to a different brand.Stopped heating after year and a half
We were very happy with the microwave when we bought it,, we mainly used it to reheat our coffee mugs and tea cups. unfortunately it stoped working after a year and a half. We bought it from the Good Guys shop. when approached the shop, they were not interested to help, only focused to sell a new one. Show detailsE5 error after 16 months
This microwave worked ok for 18 months until the E5 error came up (which seems to be a common fault for this model) and now it does not heat anything and the warranty was only for 12 months. Apparently the touch panel needs to be replaced which is not worth the effort, especially if the fault may reoccur. For this reason I would not buy one of these again. Show detailsDoes not live up to it's name as a sensor
I previously had two Sharp Sensor microwaves model R350-Y which is no longer available. It had a variety of sensor options and cooked things very well. This model R350E has a couple of set programs and that is it. Example - frozen vegetables is set for 500g - not taking into consideration any other volume. Very disappointing - I bought what I though would be a sensor as previous model and now I have to use it as a manual microwave. Not Happy Jan!!!Questions & Answers
Has anyone else had corrosion (thick rust) around the track under the plate where the wheels go round?
I haven't had that happen with mine. It was making a noise at one point, but once I cleaned the wheels the noise went away.
Nope the rust was above the cooking area. Like steam condensation from cooking had caused it.
our Sharp microwave model R350E suddenly starting smelling of burning electrical wiring but the house fusebox was ok then the error code E5 appeared on the the screen,, the unit is only 21 months old. looks like we may have to buy another microwaqve, but it will not be a Sharp that we get, thats for sure. Eswpecially reading the other comments from Sharp customers.
Would definitely NOT purchase R-350E if I put anything in oven with or without a lid , if it as even the smallest amount of liquid, no matter how little or long it’s on for when I open microwave door inside is dripping wet.
I have previously mentioned the flames from the RHS control panel. It went to landfill and after this experience we are looking carefully at reviews for microwaves. We never had the E5 code. I agree w... Read more
ith Fiona that there was always the dripping wet problem which would not help electricals. Our old Sharp did not have this problem. I saw that in comments it is no longer the old Sharp company since 2016 with Foxconn now in control.R350E is running but not heating.
Also mention that some times screen shows the E-5.
Please guide to get rid of these problems.
Thanks
