I owned a Sharp microwave for the best part of 15 years and it was fantastic. Given the great experience first time around we went with Sharp again. While the power output was great, it only lasted 4 years. Just not good enough in my opinion for a not so cheap product. Will now buy another brand Show details
Sharp Flatbed microwave works great. Highly recommend. Operates a little different from previous Sharp microwave, but easy to convert/learn. Bought in Jan 26 from Harvey Norman Geelong who offered great deal and very knowledgeable and helpful.
I had my generic brand Microwave that I used well for 10+ years. I bought this sightly over a year ago. Within a month, had the door opening push button damaged. Sharp took several weeks to respond to my message. I got fed up. Thanks to the retailer (Goodguys), they replaced it with a new one when I presented it at store. Within few months, rust… Read more
started developing inside the microwave. Warranty was once again declined by Sharp with a message "The rust and bubbling on the microwave’s interior roof are due to poor maintenance, which allowed moisture to accumulate and damage the surface over time. It is not covered under warranty." I am not sure if this is poor maintenance. I havent changed my way of using the Microwave which lasted over 10 years that I purchased from Coles!

Awesome find this plate fits perfectly on the glass/ceramic flat bed from Coles Supermarket Show details
Amazed @ Sharp’s Microwave Technology – 1st foray into flatbed m/w have found the functionality, ease of use & childlock a blessing. It’s easy to reduce the top power fr 1200w in 100w increments. The oven is easy to clean & has more useable space than a 32L with a turntable. The food cooked “alert” is good & has a cool down fan, on completion. Food cooks evenly. Way better than my Breville flatbed! – Wow this microwave I just bought from "Appliances Online" is so awesome never owned a 1200 watt microwave before so I keep forgetting how hot everything gets when you put it in for the same time as I used to with my 900 watt microwave. it has a two-year warranty it was only $353! Delivered to my door with in two days of buying it from "Appliances… Read more
Online"already did a review about these guys they are absolutely amazing cannot fault them for the last 10 appliances I've needed from them. Don't have to go to the shops don't have to look around just go on their website find what you want buy it and within two to three days they deliver it to your door plus they take your old appliance away for free! who else does that! Nobody that's who... Anyway that's it, giving my brand new "sharp flatbed 32 ltr inverter microwave"a 10 out of 10!
Surprised me with the difference in cooking – I have just replaced a Sharp quality microwave that I have had for 15 years with a Sharp flatbed SM 327FHW. It was a very good microwave so this one had a lot to live up to and I am surprised it has. FLATBED microwaving is actually a better, more thorough process than the old turntable style, which cooks unevenly. This one cooks, heats, reheats… Read more
and defrosts very evenly in seemingly shorter time. There are a number of categories to perform your required process and many work on weight of meal, which is a bit of a guess at times. You don’t have to use a selected program I have found, just pick a time you want and press start. Be careful, this is new territory from what my old turntable microwave did, which was also a high wattage, but select shorter time to cook or heat to begin with until you actually get the feel of this machine. The result may be devastating if you don’t.
There is a bit of a down side in selecting a timer for general use , which was something I used all the time in the kitchen with my old machine, just because it was easier when using a timer for items in oven or mixer etc. it can be done but the process of getting it up on a not very sensitive touch screen might be frustrating. It’s all about learning a new way to do what you have always done.
I am happy and surprised with this microwave which is so much lighter in weight than the older microwaves, I would also say that you need to check for plenty of space in height if putting inside a cabinet because it states 325 high and I would err on closer to 328 which is not much but important if you trying to get into limited height hole. Very easy to clean internally, which is also a bonus, a good price for a good product.

Our old Sharp microwave oven (750W Carousel type, bought over 25 yrs ago eventually stopped working. Knowing the reliability of that oven, I chose Sharp again and model SM327FHW, a Flatbed 1200W Inverter type. Since microwave technology (the core engine is called magnetron) is so mature, I am sure most OTHER BRANDS would be as reliable. Summary… Read more
of my experience:
*** Pros:
1- Powerful - at full power need about 1/2 of the time on the previous for the same job (note that the power level is adjustable) but be careful with overboiling spillage or burning of food on default high power level of 1200W.
2- Running continuously when a lower power is selected (note that with non-inverter type: at a low power selection, the oven is on and off to achieve average selected power)
3- Flatbed: more convenient than carousel type & get a bit more of inside room & easy to clean.
4- Good price (anyway, all brands of similar specs- are so close in price)
*** Cons:
1- The fans will stay on for a little while to cool the magnetron (We have no problem with this but may be an issue for someone else more sensitive to noise)
2- The "push location" of the "Door Open Button" (see photo) is on the left side (ie closer to the door) which would interere with the opening door (i.e. door tend to interfere with your hand/fingers) . A better design is to the right side to avoid this issue.
3- The flat bed design is claimed to have more uniform energy distribution but I found that there are hot spots(a) on the bed, specially a hot spot at about 1/3 (mid line) from the left of the bed. This should not be an issue for general food cooking, or using at a low power level, since the temperature have time to even out with thermal diffussion within the bulk of the food (or drink).
Notes: (a) Accidentally I found the hot spots while heating cashew nuts pread on a flat plate. - Hot spots are related to standing waves formed in the oven. To detect the hot spots, flat layers of chocolate or mashmallows can be used.
(b) If not for the Cons #2 We would love this oven more :-)
Hard to program. Defrosting is a disaster. Makes constant noise even when not operating – This is for a model SM267FHST. I have had it for around 3 month and now came to a boiling point. Just got out a half frozen and half cooked peace of meat out of this device. It is ok for heating up. But defrosting is a disaster. You have to tippy-toe around it all the time. Turning meat upside-down, covering with foil the parts that are already… Read more
defrosted. Also Setting up defrosting program is not intuitive and easy, required more steps, than older model. Weight can be set in only in 500 g interval. No such settings for 700g of chicken. When trying to set 700 (would be 70 on the screen - no sense) and press start, it reset to 0 instead of giving a meaningful reason. In other programs settings, like vegetable, need to enter 500 not 50 like in defrost program, no consistency. User need to have manual handy all the time. My old Sharp (2005) was so easy to use and more flexible options, yet, setting the programs with a 1-2 button touch. Who is the designer of all this new stuff? Did they use it by themselves? Also!!!! When not in operation, it emits constant subtle high-frequency sound, similar to the charger, when charging a battery. But microwave does not have a battery...
So far it's good – We bought this to replace a multifunction Panasonic microwave that had stopped microwaving and just chose a basic flatbed this time as we rarely used the convection/steam/grille functions anyway. Initial impressions: - despite being the same cubic capacity (32L), it's actually quite a bit smaller inside for both width and height although it is… Read more
deeper - it's a lot quieter than the Panasonic with very little fan noise - it's also has a much brighter LED that is actually useful to see what is going on inside - the biggest bugbear with the previous flatbed microwave was that the cooking was uneven as one side (LHS) heated more than the other. Initial testing seems to indicate that the Sharp doesn't have the issue as all of the test dishes were evenly heated. - the front panel buttons are difficult to use as you have to hit them in exactly the right spot or they don't work and it's frustrating - the absence of a handle on the door means that you have to put finger marks on the door to close it
Other than that it seems to have a wide enough range of automation for our needs and the quick access shortcuts are handy to have.

Great flatbed microwave – Great flatbed microwave, especially if you have to fit it high. Dish or food stays at the front for easy access. Cooks great …..very happy. Also have a flatbed in the caravan. Wouldn’t have anything else now. Show details
Fantastic Microwave – We bought a Sharp SM327FH microwave in February this year and it is fantastic. The flatbed feature is terrific. No more finding that coffee mugs and jugs always have the handles facing to the back of the microwave when it stops which increased the risks of spills and scalds with the old microwave. No noisy turntable to listen to. No more removing… Read more
the turntable for cleaning. The scrambled eggs pre-set feature is great. The 1,200 power is also great. Ample power for quick heating and power adjustment for delicate items. The only thing that I don’t like is that the door is released by a push mechanism. I would have preferred a handle on the door instead. We bought a large Sharp combi microwave in 1995 and we donated it to Lifeline in 2014 when we sold our previous home. It was still going strong after 19 years with minimal repairs in that time.
We're loving this microwave – We are so happy with our new purchase. The microwave looks good, is easy/intuitive to use, and heats food thoroughly without damaging the quality/texture. The only thing I'm wary of, is that it is so quick, that we need to be careful not to burn ourselves. I'm also not sure how spills will work around the seal without a tray, but time will tell. It mummifies the baked potatoes turns fresh vegetables in to slush, burns or overheats everything. The only thing useful on it is the timer. I have tried adjusting power and heat settings and I am still unable to just start a program on it and turn around to stir something on the stove or get something out of the fridge without it overcooking. And it looks like it is just out of warranty date and I do not want another flatbed microwave ever. Show details
Purchased in 2023 and it only lasted 18months. After spending $325 on a 'quality' product I would not purchase another Sharp product again. After 12months the door release started to stick and two hands were needed to open the door. It stopped working and gave an E-06 code yesterday, which is an issue with the temp sensor. You have been warned. Don't purchase this product. Show details
Powerful but poor quality – Seems like I am “lucky” compared to others in that my microwave lasted a little over two years before dying. A 12 month warranty on a microwave is pathetic and I will never buy Sharp products again. For the time that it was working the microwave was quite powerful and heated things up quickly. If you want a microwave for a good time, not a long time, then this might be for you. If you value longevity and quality then stay away. Show details

Do not buy this product! – Do not buy this product! Another victims of this scam. The Sharp microwave that I bought from The Good Guys broke down (error 5) in only 15 months!!! Of course, the warranty expires after 12 months…how convenient. After asking about repairing it, I was supposed to pay $90 for the technician to check it out, plus another ton of money for labour… Read more
and parts, with a waiting time between 2 to 6 weeks!! Ended up buying a LG brand with 3 years warranty…but seriously, there must be a way to sue that company that seems that their products are faulty.
Only lasted 16 months – Only lasted 16 months. I have had sharp microwaves in the past which lasted many many years. This one did not. It runs but does not heat up. Can not even melt butter. I’ve only had it for 16 months so of course it’s out of the. 12 month warranty time frame. What a waist of $330 ! Wi t be buying sharp again Show details
ERROR CODE E-5 in JUST 18 months – Bought from Harvey Norman on May 2023. We are full of expectations. New Technology -- flat back. Look nice. Got Error Code E-5 after about 15month in around Sept (?) 2024. Reset by switch off and then on, it gets back on working. Since then it happened 2 or 3 times. Now Jan 2025, the E-5 cannot be reset. Repair will cost over $95 - $105. one third of the price, not worth it. Will NOT use Sharp again. Show details
Steer Clear - choose another model – E-5 low voltage error 16 months after purchase. Will not buy this model again. It is noisy and doesn't have the capacity to lower the volume of the beeps and the sound of operation continues for quite some time after it finishes cooking while it cools down. It is powerful but it was difficult to manage defrosting, despite it's preprogrammed features. The flatbed was really the only thing that was good about this microwave. Do not buy this brand. Don't judge a new Sharp on previous reliability - this brand has lost it – We only bought this as we decided to retire our previous Sharp microwave of 12+ years and after just over a year I wish we hadn't. This Microwave's only saving grace is that is was easier to clean and had no user accessible moving parts. Today after just over a year of operation it threw an E5 error and will not work other than to make crackly… Read more
noises and electrical smells so in the interests of safety I have unplugged the device. The funny thing is that a smaller ancillary no-frills microwave oven was purchased from Kmart a year before to act as an anciliary and it's proved to be superior. ***** Subsequent to this review I returned the item to Harvey Norman who honoured the in-store warranty agreement and supplied a replacement machine and included an additional 3 year warranty so no doubt we'll be back again for a replacement in another couple of years *****
Broke down just beyond 12 months. E-5 error. Stopped heating – Paid good coin for this flatbed. Lasted just over 12 months then stopped heating. E-5 error code. Enquired about getting fixed and was advised that a new Inverter would set me back around $150. So its heading to the scrap yard and we'll avoid Sharp for the next one. Show details

Not impressed – Oven blew up 2 days out of warranty.luckily Gerry replaced with a new one .still makes the same popping sounds as the last one when cooking. Not overly confident it’s going to last Show details
Absolutely terrible – This microwave is rubbish. Our 13 year old Panasonic died, I purchased this from the good guys because Panasonic was out of stock. It makes a horrible high pitched sound when operating. Heating is terribly uneven and the controls are woefully un-intuitive. DO NOT BUY THIS MICROWAVE!! I'm incredibly unhappy with my purchase. Didn’t last – Enjoyed the microwave and the flatbed design. However microwave blew up (E5 error) after 16 months. Just of its 1 year warranty so Good Guys won’t honor it even under ACL rules. Premium microwave that doesn’t last so very disappointed. Show details
Poor features, uneven cooking and blew up in 18 months – Before I bought this microwave, I looked at the reviews and compared several different flat beds. The reviews were completely wrong. This microwave was a dud from the moment I used it. It defrosts unevenly, cooks unevenly. The lack of usable features was disappointing, but the most disappointing was that it blew up after only 18 months... I have never had a microwave that didn't last more that 5 years. Definitely not worth the price. Show details
Flatbed is the way to go! – We had a very good Sharp microwave oven many years ago and as a direct result I was tempted back to the brand after we finally relinquished our Breville unit. I have to say I'm absolutely blown away by this one. Would not want to go back to a rotating turntable oven. Everything heats not only incredibly quickly but also very evenly. turntable or plastic inside. You get a heap more room to stack some food and it's even easier than usual to keep it clean. Simple to operate and use. Highly recommended.
I'll never go back to the rotating microwave – This oven has a huge space and no turntable. It cooks food evenly and is so much easier to clean (and my rice packets don't fall over). Very happy indeed.
Broke error-5 after 5 minutes – All excited, new microwave technology, inverter heating, no more turntable, what could go wrong? Plugged it in, tried to steam some vegetable's, turned off after 4-mins, veg' wasn't cooked. put them back in for a further go, stopped working and error code 5 appeared on the screen? Nothing in the manual, so resorted to the internet. I feel the 1200W is to powerful for the build quality. Don't buy it!!!! Show details
les than 2 years and no power – For a $330 microwave just lasted over a year and right outside of 12 month warranty to power just went. Sorry but I'd expect for this price point to last at least 3 years. Nothing is build to last. Please avoid the Sharp flat bed 32L as its not worth the price point Show details
Error 5 code after 1 months use – My black Sharp flatbed microwave is only 1 month old. It has the E5 code and a very bad smell. It was cooking food very well. The microvave has plenty of space around it. I had to unplug it as it would not stop. Show details
E5 Error code..already – Product only 4 months old and rarely used. E5 error code... already. Taking back to Harvey Norman for repairs. Have read the reviews here and am not overly confident I've made an intelligent purchase :( Show details
This Sharp model flatbed seal melted after 2 weeks used – Bought this Sharp model stainless steel brand new 01/23 Everything look great, just used to heat food mostly , and the rubber seal part on the flatbed melted after 2 weeks VERY VERY disappointed with Sharp microwave , had since returned item , waiting refund Have to look for a new one , perhaps Panasonic this time. Very disappointing product from Sharp – I bought this Microwave in April 21 as I wanted a flatbed microwave to replace my last microwave that died. Sharp boasts an intelligent inverter that delivers accurate and even levels of heat... . appears everything is driven from preset options of which most are not applicable to what we cook or heat up. My main gripe is the fan has consistently made different sounds and vibrations and recently started to intermittently not turn on. It's very weird to watch food bubble and boil without the sound of a fan. It only has A 12 month warranty for a $320 device so after 18 months its looking like it needs to go to a repair centre.
Lasted 2 weeks – My new sharp microwave lasted 2 weeks before giving an error message and stopped working. Not happy as I really wanted a flat bed. Gone back to turntable. Got my money back and went elsewhere. Show details
