Sheffield Professional

Rubbish! Don't touch it! – Used this mixer three times....the heaviest thing mixing a light chocolate cake. Last time was beating some ingredients together - mixed for no more than 45 secs and the thing has stopped. Won't start again. Was dubious when i saw the plastic attachments and now my belief has come true. Trying to get a full refund as I write - would not want a replacement model, thats for sure!

Big disappointment – Waited a long time before I decided to splurge and buy a "proper" mixer. the Sheffield looks good on the bench but thats it. Useless for mixing anything. Cant cream butter and sugar, cant beat egg whites, way way to slow. . I do a lot of baking but have gone back to using the old faithful hand held electric beater. Looks pretty. Absolutely everything
Dissapointing – I only had my one for a short amount of time, used it no more than half a dozen times before the locking mechanism that holds the attachment on stopped locking and resulting in the attachment going off skew while trying to mix or falling out as you lift the arm up, when you put it back in it would just fall back out. Also had to use on egg whpping programme as the flour one was just way too slow. Returned for replacement but was told will only give a refund although I really wanted it fixed as it was in warranty, unfortunately this website doesn't repair things they just refund, so although I got my money back hastle free I am left with no mixer and back at square one.
The motor seemed like it was straining at times, only lasted a short time before it would work properly altogether you think these things would be tested before they went on the market
A sick joke – When you open the instruction booklet for your Professional? mixer, you read that it should not be used for more than 5 minutes before a cooling off period, and it will stop itself after 6 minutes anyhow. The whisk shaft is made of plastic, and none of the attachments can be put in the dishwasher. Ours couldn't cream butter/sugar for a fruitcake I frequently make, and after two runs trying to whisk egg whites for a Pavlova, my wife finally finished the still liquid whites in our old Kenwood Chef.
It may be 1200 Watts, but the beater and whisk don't get close to the bowl, and are far too slow, even with fancy push-button task selectors.
How this engineering faux-par got on the market can only be because no one ever tested it in a kitchen to make sure it worked !!
Our dealer took it back and gave us a full refund.
He also failed to whisk egg whites with it, and will be talking with the supplier. Looks very nice, clean lines Doesn't work due to design faults, can only run for FIVE minutes, like a turbo V8 with only 1st gear.

I just got on here to find out how to whisk egg whites faster for a pavlova. I am now very concerned because it doesn't appear that it will go much faster and so I am left with my egg whites to whisk somehow else. I purchased this to make my xmas cake, I don't think it is going to work do you. What a flamin' nuisance.
