Awesome mattress, BUT – We loved every sleep we had on our gel mattress for 10 years. Unfortunately over the last year my wife's side has lost integrity and she constantly complains that she is falling out of bed. My complaint is that she's always over my side of the mattress! It's such a shame, because I wanted this mattress to last forever. We paid an absolute bomb for it and it performed perfectly right up until the day the warranty expired.
Horrible unsupportive – Got sales talked into buying this mattress because of the "gel technology". It has sagged and gone out of shape with the sides sagging so that you feel like you will fall out of bed and wake up with a sore back. Unfortunately it was a gradual thing so we did not realise the problem until the warranty had almost expired. My advice based on this… Read more
experience is not to buy a gel mattress. I will also never buy from this brand again as I really feel ripped off. This was an expensive learning experience and I would have claimed under warranty if I had realised in time. Almost all of the reiviews are the same so perhaps this was a faulty design and should never have been on the market.

Simply the Best – I am totally in love with my Sleepmaker Gel Luxury mattress. Paid premium price for it 3 years ago and it has never disappointed me in the slightest. In actual fact, I cannot wait to crawl into bed and I find it difficult to throw myself out it in the morning. I also brought two gel pillows and I totally love them too. Show details
They replaced my mattress – Follow up to my complaint about this mattress. I sent all the info to Sleepmaker as requested. They agreed the mattress was faulty, they replaced it with a beauty rest illusion and it is lovely. Thank you! Show reply
Don't pay thousands – It came in a box approx. 2 mtrs long & 30cm square & quickly expanded to full size. It has a soft pillow layer but is firm enough under that to support my back, (which I have had a fair bit of trouble with) I can't speak for it's longevity but at the moment I am very happy

Expected it to last longer, now saggy – We purchased in 2010, $4000 later I figured I'd be in for the long haul as I had a lower back injury at the time and wanted a super high quality mattress. I did get a number of years of very nice sleep out of it and really liked it although I found it hot in summer. After about 5 years the sidewalls collapsed and started bulging outwards which… Read more
made fitting sheets a pain but it was still generally okay to sleep on. A couple of years later it was quite unsupportive and I stopped sleeping on it after developing persistent sore back which resolved itself within a couple of days of sleeping on another bed. The Sleepmaker is about to hit the hard rubbish collection and I won't buy another one, I've never seen sidewall collapse in a mattress before and I feel silly that I spent that much money on it. Hopefully Sleepmaker have addressed some of these issues given the reviews here!
Back pain and terrible sleep – For the first 12 months, was great. Bed now has sagging where you lie and a huge mound in the middle. Cause me and my partner back and neck pain and terrible sleep. Tried contacting sleep maker no reply. For the price of the mattress you would expect more longevity out of it. Dont waste your money. Show details

Chronic Back Condition from this bed – The mattress cost an absolute fortune. It weights a ton. Every month it must be rotated head to foot and moving it is team effort. By far this is the worst mattress I have ever slept on including the one I slept on for 12 weeks at Kapooka during Army Basic Training. Within a month it was sagging. I would roll in to the middle of the bed. The… Read more
mattress is still with us but with time it has gotten so bad that I wake up with shoulder and back pain. The condition has become chronic. I have not had a good night sleep since buying this nightmare. I dread going to bed now and have resorted to sleeping on the floor some nights.
For the sake of your sanity, serenity, marriage and health do not buy this mattress, Do not buy a sleep maker.

Great night's sleep – I purchased the fitness gel Miracoil mattress and base to replace a ten year old bed that had begun sagging. It has been fine so far and partner disturbance is now a thing of the past. I do find that tucking in sheets can be difficult as the mattress is heavy. Purchased at Braithwaites homemakers and sleepzone store. Show details · 1
Believe all you read – Do not under any circumstances buy this bed. We have suffered this matress for years. The sagging that is reported by other uses is 100% correct. I feel like I am sleeping in a hammock because the sagging is so bad. Also keep in mind that you can only rotate this sort of matress 180°. You are unable to turn it over. It is not worth the thousands of dollars the bed sells for. No way, nope, nudda, just run away if you see one. Show details
Noisy springs "as per design" – It was fine for about two months then the mattress springs started making noise and support quoted the following "It is natural to hear the springs make a noise with movement on the mattress. This is due to the design of the spring unit and is quite normal. If you have any further queries please feel free to contact myself. Regards Semelia" Show details

Few years on and I admit it sucks – Started off okay when I purchased some time back but found as time went by it got softer and lost its support to the point where I find myself waking up to adjust body position , find myself having to flick one leg over the other to actually get out of it as side seems to have hold its form as opposed to the rest of mattress . Atrocious saggy mattress – We have owned this for 7 years, two of those years it was in storage so un-used; so essentially a five year old mattress. To lie on it you would think it was 20 years old! Very saggy and squishy where we lie and a permanent indent even though we rotate head to foot every fortnight. So disappointed. I have now submitted a claim and if we have no… Read more

Unhappy not to sleep well – This mattress is so uneven that it makes my back ache so that I have to change positions. It seems to have sagged in the middle now. I try to sleep on the firmer edges to no avail. I can not sleep for long on my back. Maybe it's the puffy pillow quilting, or is that gel? So I have broken sleep and feel tired when awakening. Sleepmaker Orion Gel Firm - Just don't – I bought my mattress a long time ago but only now thought to put in a review. At first I loved it! But It was VERY short lived ... Sleepmaker gel supreme – OMG the Sleepmaker Gel supreme must be the worst mattress ever. We paid a small fortune for this mattress at Harvey Norman about 5 years ago thinking that it would last us at least 10 years. We wanted a mattress that was supportive as I have back/neck issues. About 2 years ago when the mattress was only 3 years old I stated again having issues… Read more
with my back and neck after getting out of bed. I put it down to my ageing body. Progressively I noticed every week or so I woke up during the night and either my arms or legs either had pins and needles in them or on some occasions had no feeling in them so I had to use my other arm/leg to move the other to get some sort of mobility. I then noticing a squashy sound when I moved and seemed to always be rolling into the centre of the bed. It wasn't until I told my husband this and he inspected the mattress more carefully that he noticed that the centre of the bed was indeed squashy, it appears that the gel pads have either burst or collapsed over time as the very bottom and top of the mattress remain firm. I only realised that my pain was associated with the terrible mattress after recently travelling overseas and staying in various motels and being fully mobile each morning, not to mention wonderfully pain free, and then coming back and sleeping back in my bed. Back came the pain and 'dead legs/arms'. Today we went to 'Makin mattresses' to get a new mattress and for once in the last 4 years I am excited to go to bed. Save your money and dont buy this mattress, I just regret not reading these reviews years ago, as I have put up with waking up during the night and in the morning with such terrible neck/back pain that could have been avoided if I had dumped this mattress earlier.

Sleepmaker – I am just following up to my previous review about this terrible company. I ended up selling this mattress to someone for $1000 so got back half my money. is a normal dip. If this is the case they should not advertise it as an orthopaedic mattress. Unbelievably I have just received a survey from the company asking me what I rated them. Terrible mattress- Gel Comfort King Size Ensemble – We bought this mattress and base ensemble in June 2011 for a premium price from Harvey Norman. their control checks and that they repaired the top panel. It looked the same as it had before they took it away. When I emailed them a second time to say that nothing's changed there response was that we had to sleep on every part of the mattress including the edges to even out the weight distribution. In 26 years of marriage I've never heard of anything so ridiculous in my life. As my husband and I are totally annoyed with this mattress we are now looking to purchase again. I would never buy a mattress made by the Comfort Group ever again and I have also told all my family and friends. This Gel Comfort Mattress was a complete disappointment and the response from the company was very unprofessional. Not impressed!!!

August 9th 2017 Update: Have returned 3 times - repair, repair, repair
I have had issues with this mattress since purchase, I posted in 2016 about returning the mattress as there was dipping and a mound inbetween my partner and I. I went through the process of sending back which involved being at home for pick up and a week later being home for return. Earlier this year we returned again and again Sleepmaker "repaired" the mattress. This week I have returned again and have been given an inspection report saying the layer has been "repaired".
You would think that after 3 repairs, the company could conclude that the mattress is indeed faulty and either a) refund or b) replace entirely with another mattress.
Very disappointed and I would never recommend this mattress or purchasing from Sleepmaker at this point. What a waste of time and money.
After providing information to Sleepmaker and receiving back a lot of information about "body… Read more (+4 replies)

4000 later very unimpressed – This mattress is by far the worst i have seen. I have worked in motels for ten years and have this in my home. If you're not careful you roll out of bed, and there is squishy sounds. It will be interesting to see what the company has to say when I contact them.

Terrible – I purchased a sleepmaker miracoil intensity firm from Sleeping Giant 3 weeks ago. Sleeping Giant's 30 day return policy. However, they only do this for 1 exchange, so I made sure to sleep a good 20 minutes on the mattress I chose and upgraded to the Sleepmaker Miracoil Intensity Gel.
The first night I was up again after an hour as the pain in my back was so bad. The pillowtop just sank and sank and sank so that I was sleeping in a curved out hollow. I continually rolled over and had to keep pulling my knee over to stop from rolling back into the hole my body made from the dips.
I rang Sleepmaker after 2 nights of this painful agony and was told by a very rude Kiwi lady called Kathryn, the NSW representative, that I had the wrong slat base, and that Sleepmaker mattresses have to have Slat bed bases with a FIFTH leg in the middle of the bed!?! Not at one stage was this mentioned to me by the staff at the Sleeping Giant. I then rang the Sleeping Giant to tell them what I had experienced and both of the store asistants ([name removed] and [name removed]) said they had never heard of that before and it was rubbish. All I know is that it has been 4 nights of pure torture with me waking every 20 minutes trying to ease the burning pain in my back. Sleeping Giant have said there is nothing they can do but try to organise a warranty from the sleepmaker representative.
I am crying as I am writing this as my back is so sore and I have not slept in 4 nights. I have arthritis and explained all of this to the staff at Sleeping Giant and now I have had to take 3 times my normal daily dosage of Mobic for the past 4 days. I am sleep deprived, sad, crying and in agony. I have to now wait to see what I can do as I am a single mother and this mattress cost me all the money I had saved up. The warranty from sleepmaker sounds almost impossible to utilise. How can this bed possibly last 10 years when it has dips in it after less than 1 week?

purchase from this company again. One would think with the reviews being exactly the same issue they would consider themselves accountable for a dodgy product being produced.
I want my money back – 3 years of this mattress has made my back worse. There is a huge dip where we sleep and we turn it every time I change the sheets it makes no difference. It's like the gel has melted. Harvey Norman are no help at all. Don't buy this bed.
Worst mattress ever! – I purchased a SleepMaker restore gel king mattress at a cost of over $4000 2 1/2 yrs ago. where we purchased it)and all 3 beds were substandard. I was even taken to their factory in Queensland and talked into the replacements. I should have demanded a refund at that time but loved the bed originally and believed the drivel that it was just my mattress that was faulty. The 2nd mattress was replaced because it was much firmer than the first, and this is why we are on our third mattress. However this has been awful for at least 18 months but due to health problems I was not up to dealing with the matter at that time. So I sent my claim in August and My claim has not been attended to! We have a huge mound between us and it is so bad that turning over in my sleep is impossible. I have to actually wake up in order to turn my body due to the size of the centre mound and when lying on my side can feel the slope of the bed to the outer edge. Cuddling is impossible due to a veritable hill between us. Very very uncomfortable and shocking for someone trying to recover from major surgery! SleepMaker could care less and customer service is appalling. I will be writing to SleepMaker again, now I am partially recovered and will explore other avenues for getting this matter attended to should I fail to get satisfaction from SleepMaker. This bed, the gel restore mattress is the most expensive mattress we have bought and the worst mattress ever. Do NOT buy a gel mattress, you will regret it. Sue
Too hot to sleep in – Told this bed would be cool the opposite very hot especially when you live in a hot climate . Worst bed I have ever slept in . Harvey Norman don't want to know about it and the Rep. from Sleepmaker just spoke a lot of rot would never buy or recommend to any one
Bad Back Because Of Mattress – After 18 months gel stop started collapsing, even after following all instructions for rotating. They did repair but after it came back my back started playing up. Waking up in the middle of the night with extreme back pain. Sleeping on my couch was more comfortable and giving me no back pain. Worst mattress ever. Oh and the gel top is now flat where we sleep with a mound in the centre.
Alot Of Money For A Saggy Matress – We purchased our Sleepmaker Gel bed exactly 3 years ago. It was extremely comfortable for the first 18 months but we now have 2 body indents in the mattress where we lie that are getting deeper with a huge mound between us. DO NOT BUY A SLEEPMAKER MATTRESS OF ANY KIND – .Sleepmaker customer service is non existent. After jumping through so many hoops for over two months, they are continuing to try and wheddle out of accepting accountability for a substandard mattress which I paid $4,400 for. Warranty stands for nothing. Stay clear of Sleepmaker they are robbers.
Gave me a bad back – Like others reviews, we too found the mattress comfy and firm in the shop and were assured that it would maintain its firmness. Now has two indents, only middle is firm. Terrible, wouldn't not recommend
Horrible indents in bed causing back pain – I would not recommend this mattress. The warranty does not cover indents in the bed - even after following instructions and rotating the mattress. I have ended up having to lie in the middle of our king size mattress because that is the only firm place left. Will not buy sleepmaker again.
Do not buy this bed - not fit for purpose – We purchased this bed as it seemed very comfortable and supportive in the store. Within three months, the bed had indents in it despite us regularly rotating it and following directions. These indents continued to worsen and there are now huge deep indents in the bed. been digging holes and then piling sand in other areas. After only 12 months of use, I am more comfortable on the floor! I have spent so much on osteopath and remedial massage fees as the indents have caused one of my hips to be more raised than the other causing considerable pain. I weigh about 60kg and my husband about 75kg so neither of us are overweight. We also had a few overseas trips over the last year so the bed has not even been used for a full 12 months. Sleepy's, the store I purchased the bed from, have refused to provide a refund or replacement despite their legal obligations and Sleepmaker have advised that the bed will be repaired if they deem that there is a fault. Clearly a bed that can not be slept on has a major fault which legally entitles me to a full replacement or full refund. Repair work is not acceptable given the extent of the fault. These beds are lemons, do not buy one.
