Slumberland Devon Excellent Bed – We have had this bed for 8 years and it’s awesome. We are always happy to come home from holidays and sleep in our own bed it’s that comfy, and I sleep like a log, no pain no discomfort for both my wife and I. It’s a great balance of soft but firm Show details

Lasted less than 1 year – Me and my partner rotated the mattress as per instructions however within less than a year of use I couldn't sleep on it anymore. After many nights waking up with lower back pain I realised the mattress wasn't giving any support to my lower back and shoulders anymore. Completely saggy on high pressure points. Guarantee was useless. Had to replace with a new one from a different brand. Show details

  King Single

Horribly constructed. Support is gone within a month. Don't be swayed by the store model – Purchased two king singles this time last year. Within a month, they felt nothing like the store’s test model and sank right down the middle, causing terrible neck and back pain for both my partner and I. You would think it would take at least a few years for a mattress to lose this much support - even a BAD mattress. It reached a point where the… Read more

mattresses sank so badly that it felt like we were lying in recliner chairs (we are both average weight).

Select-o-pedic are the manufacturers of this model. Feel free to check out the product reviews for one of their discontinued mattresses - my partner and I suffered the same experience.

Based on other customer reviews, it is clear that from the moment this product is purchased, Snooze and Selecto-o-pedic are already armed and ready for any customer complaints that might follow (customers that request a return are quickly boxed into the comfort issue or change-of-mind category). Any request for a return will be made as inconvenient and as exhausting as possible. The customer will be given one timely task after another to prove their case before finally being told that the answer is ‘no’.

The supplier and manufacturer know that any attempts to seek protection from consumer rights law will either fail or be too inconvenient to pursue. They are pros at hiding behind ambiguity (in our case, they referred to the sagging as 'contouring' - we knew the difference... see pic). They are aware that proving the poor quality of a mattress will be far more difficult than say, a toaster or a TV. So complaints to the department of Fair Trading won’t faze them at all. It took us half a year to get a fair outcome.

Oh, and the mattress odour is pretty strong too.

If you want to make a gamble based on the store model, do so at your own risk.

I haven’t had one issue with this bed – Had this mattress since 2016, it is soft and supportive, no sag in mine. I do recall it had a smell when I first got it but had forgotten until reading reviews. I’m looking for a single for my son and forgot how expensive they are!  Show details

  Double

Happy with our double one – I have purchased one from Snooze after my wife and myself did the bed test in their shop. This model was the second one on the list of mattresses recommended to us. Ended up buying it as was in withing our budget. Ours has a medium feel. Payed about $1200 in 2016. We still love it. Bought a queen one, same medium feel, about 1 year after, but does… Read more

not feel the same (a bit strange I would say). We think the double one feels better. No issues with losing the shape or elasticity for either of them, in our case.

Very good purchase – Very comfortable bed after years of great sleep. I've owned this mattress since 2011. I purchased a different one last year after discovering the dog had urinated on a corner of it. Sadly my other mattress didn't live up to the level of restful sleep I'd had with this one. I've had it hygienist cleaned and reverted back to it. Yes there's a… Read more

minor odour but not to the degree some reviewers have commented on. There's a big difference to smell of a freshly manufactured bed vs toxicity that some people allege.

I've not ever had a smell that's been described.

Sag and sore back – After a few years this mattress started to sag and cause lower back pain for myself. Disappointing considering the cost. It is also a very heavy mattress making changing the sheets a nightmare. Show details

Really disappointed could never recommend – Absolutely terrible last 5 years of sleep due to this mattress. The support lasted for about 2 months then a massive sag started in the middle, if you then slept on the side you’re on an angle dipping towards the centre. Really dissatisfied for the price. Show details

Soften with time – Spent countless hrs researching and testing different mattresses. We went with the medium devon. Once we got the mattress home it seemed more firm then we anticipate. Hopefully it will soften within the next few months. Show details

Do not buy – I’ve had this mattress for about 2.5 years and for the past year both my husband and I have been waking up with sore necks and backs. It’s a complete rip off and the people at Snooze don’t help you. They push this over priced mattress on you telling you it’s best suited to you but clearly it’s not! Show details

sure if this was a bad batch as it seems to be a very popular mattress. The mattress is comfortable yes I tried sleeping on it twice however i cant sleep on it due to the smell it is stuck in my throat and nose it is all i can smell!!! not happy at all.. i will be reviewing everything from now on before purchasing. I did get a refund from snooze and they were very understanding and did go above and beyond to remove the mattress ASAP for me and I appreciate their prompt removal of the toxic mattress and experienced very good customer service I couldn’t fault them at all even with the issue their main concern was that I was a happy customer which doesn’t seem to happen these days.

Don't buy this mattress if you're sensitive to smells – It's been 8 weeks now and I can still taste it in my mouth and I haven't even slept on it. There is no refund from the retailer. I've tried bi carb ... but the smell is still there. I bought it believing the smell would pass .... it still might ..... but I'm not sure when. Show details

Poor constructed, unsupportive base – This mattress is a terrible product. Its poor constructed base makes it look like a giant jelly, which will make your body sink in the middle and cause terrible aches in your neck. And even minor movements from your partner will look like an earthquake. It's impossible to find a good position to sleep on it. Even adding an extra pillow top didn't… Read more

solve the issue.

To make it worse, Snooze Australia which sells it doesn't offer any comfort exchange or refund policy. They limit themselves to ask you to sleep 8 to 10 weeks to get used to it.

So, it's gonna be scrap metal and live with the loss.

All in all, avoid this product.

Wake up feeling like death! – This mattress seemed ok at first but I have had for nearly 12 months now and I am really disappointed. Every morning I wake up feeling sore and achy in the back where I wake up feeling fine in hotels. The support is all gone. I have just bought a Koala mattress, will see how that goes.  Show details

No roll on the Devon! – Purchased the above mattress approx 3 months ago and have slept well ever since. It was a little firmer than I remembered in store but after a couple of months of use and turning, my husband and I are very happy with purchase. It's quite "stable" as in the other half can toss and turn with little disturbance to me! My son purchased the same mattress and he is also very happy.  Show details

Slumberland Devon QS (MEDIUM) Mattress & My Side Low Profile Base Series 2,4 2016 (QS) – I purchased the above QS Bed and Base today at the SNOOZE BANKSTOWN STORE with a Snooze Tencel Mattress Protector. I also paid for delivery and for them to take the old mattress away which they did, by the way the delivery service and removal guys were quick, professional and efficient. Now nearly a year has passed since my purchase and I highly recommend this bed.  Show details

Love this mattress! – Don't let negative reviews deter you from purchasing this mattress. I almost didn't buy because of this but I did buy mattress as I liked when trying in store and have had it for 1 week now and is so comfortable. Firm but supportive and no smell at all. Does feel very firm at first and I was worried but only been 1 week and feeling more moulded to my body and I would definitely recommend.  Show details

Toxic smell – This is such a comfortable bed but the smell is so bad. We have had it for 7 days and couldn't even go in the room for the first four. People should know about this before… Read more

they buy, no one told us it would be that bad. We looked it up on the internet and people say jump on it and leave it bare till fumes go. So why doesnt the seller tell you this or the manufacturer? We have to blow fans on the bed aimed at the window just for some relief.

worst! – Have had the devon for about 3 months, we used the bed match system at snooze and were directed to he devon. It felt soft and comfortable in store. says its medium, Have asked for a refund and snooze is refusing so we made a complaint to consumer affairs. Will see what happens. Save yourself the heartache and don't bother with snooze or their bed match system as its a joke; even worse is the store manager who is rude and obnoxious.

Too long to run in – Mattress was hard and painfully uncomfortable. Took nearly 3 months to get it to a comfortable stage It does get better but I think the store should tell you that you are going to think you got the wrong mattress and will take at least 3 months to get comfortable. I think the mattress top is too billowy so when you move it displaces a lot of sheet which results in big creases and an uncomfortable surface.  Show details

Not Comfortable – We purchased our Slumberland Devon Mattress and Base from Snooze. Don't waste your time with their Bedmatch system. This mattress had an overpowering odour when delivered – The odour is gradually subsiding but could not sleep on the mattress the first night and very uncomfortable. Getting used to the mattress. Very heavy to shift and next time will purchase an inner spring mattress. Have burnt incense to take away the odour and aired the room two days in a row. Jury still out as whether I will seek a refund. Very disappointed as it was a big decision to purchase.
