Gas cooktop does work great however. Buying a smeg you expect a good unit, not the case!

Service and oven temperature issue – Hi I have booked a service call for my cooker as it seems to be taking a long time to heat the oven up to the desired temperature. I have tested the oven and found out the following: FAN OFF it took from 11:00am to 11:29am to reach 260C and FAN ON from 12:08 to 12:58 to reach the temperature of 220c. static for two of those periods on 200c (checked temperature ever 10 minutes).

Smeg I want to know what is wrong with my oven? How long should it take to reach a desired temperature? With the FAN ON it took nearly 1 hour to reach a temperature of 220C. I need an answer urgently as I need to advise service so that when the repairer comes he has the right parts to repair my oven.

Service call - why does it take approximately 25 days to wait for a service call? This is way too long I'm afraid. I think that you need to provide a better service for your customers especially if you want us to buy SMEG products.

Having said all this I do love my SMEG cooker and I just want it fixed! it wasn't a cheap cooker!

Good customer service- I haven't use it but oven light broken but guy come fix it very quick – I built new house put Smeg freestanding oven and range hood. me call Smeg. I did and they said it includes in 2 years warrant and the guy come next week even before 8 am fix it in 2 min. It's hard for us as we don't know how to turn the light cover off and the little bulb hook connection but for him is so easy looks as he know what to do. So general I m happy. Their service is fast and reliable. I will try the oven see how is it. My old appartments Smeg oven is till work and at least it is over 10 years old. The scale is off but after a sticker from Smeg it s not an issue any more.

I read some reviews I do notice Smeg make different versions for Harvey Norman and Bing Lee . I prefer bin Lee as I found some function they made for Harvey Norman like the Tapanyaki tray don't have good reviews here.

get SMEG out to look at it and the wiring was lose. This was fixed and the tech left. I did also get reassured them at the oven would not be hot to touch. Apart from what's normal which apparently is no more than 60 degrees- I'm not an idiot.. It's an oven. Of course it isn't going to be ice cold. But i wanted to make sure it's not burning hot. My last oven was fine to touch- and I'd expect the same from this oven.

When I went to use my oven for the first time (finally) I noticed the door was scalding hot. You could melt plastic on the door or even cook an egg on it - that's how hot it was. I called SMEG and they said this was not normal and it should be fine to touch. So I had to book in the tech to come out again....

He came out and was even later than the 4hr window I was given (with no phone call Or apology) and said the oven was 'slightly' running higher than expected. 25 degrees to be exact. And the thermostat will need to be replaced. Sorry... But that's a lot more than "slightly"! So if it's on 180 it's actually running on 205. And he felt the oven door and said that's normal for it to be anywhere from 70-90 degrees.... Whereas the SAME tech who came out the other day said no more than 60 degrees. Still... It's feels a hell of a lot hotter than that and definitely not the "cool to touch" oven which was my only requirement on purchase.

Now I have to wait another week for a new the part and hope that fixes the oven problem and apparently the door problem. Not only that, I've been given the wrong information several times on the oven door heat, had to have a tech out twice (soon to be 3 times) and the brand new oven still needs to be looked at. Not only that, the tech isn't the nicest of people at all. So now More time off work and time wasting for an oven I bought BRAND NEW! The poor oven has had more work than use because of all these problems!

Absolutely terrible service and I'm sick of wasting my time. And SMEG refuse to replace an oven that they have already deemed faulty.

I will never, ever recommend this product to anyone and will never buy again. And if it's not fixed this time, I am taking matters further.

A great price – A great price. Awesome stove and looks great!!! This stove is amazing. High quality and just what we needed as an upgrade to our space. This was the only gas top stove our local store had – Moved into our new place months back and the local Harvey Norman store only had this Smeg as a gas top burner as the rest were all electric and we all know gas is cheaper than power in SA. problem was very efficient, friendly and helpful with advice. This could have all been avoided if the original person I spoke to had a little more training in customer service. I have always loved my stove and this was one issue I could not solve myself. I will always recommend SMEG and now their service team. Disappointingly uneven oven temps – Built a new house and went SMEG throughout the kitchen and starting to regret it. Thought this monster would be great for cooking, but we end up using the smaller steam oven instead. Uneven cooking through the oven left to right and between the racks. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone after this experience, I have dealt with other white goods/appliance Manufacturers and never had this kind of poor service before. I would expect such an expensive oven to last more than 18 months!

Expected better – Has been repaired once already, I expected better results and really it's just as good as my old Westinghouse. I personally would not spend the money on SMEG appliances. Kitchen Beauty! – My wife talked me into this. I am a more basic sort of guy but I am glad she did. Its really stylish and makes the kitchen look great. We have had zero issues with this. In fact its a joy to use after the sorry old one in our old house. The only issues were understanding how to set the the clock which is more a matter of us and perhaps the thickness of the sheet metal compared to the old days. this is perfect – i love this cooking stove because it is modern, has a wok burner in the middle and easy to use. the switches are user friendly and clear, indicating the big/small fire. the fire speed is good also and easily adjustable. the oven is electric and great for cooking/roasting/grilling/baking, all you need !  Show details

Massive oven that’s does the job – Great 90cm oven but does use a lot of energy and is incredibly hard to find extra trays for because of its width. Have found a hot spot in the middle but it’s only a bit hotter so doesn’t effect cooking substantially. Gas top is great with good coverage. Easy to clean.  Show details

Great oven – Fabulous oven, after 5 years the only problem was the clock which when I registered the problem they asked if I needed the entire oven replaced. I said no need the oven is in great order just the clock needs repair, That was replaced 18 months ago with no problems since. I can honestly say it was a great purchase.  Show details

Shattered Oven Glas – I have been happy with my oven up until today. From cooking a roast in the oven the inside glass shattered! The oven will be 3 years old in December! Sad Smeg – Our smeg of 10 years died, we loved it so replaced it with another smeg. Unfortunately we have had nothing but trouble with the stove element. Igniting but not staying alight. Having purchased from Harvey Norman canberra, we have had the stove services 3 times in two months. Harvey Norman told us to not use the element and use the other four instead!!!! Not very happy. DISAPPOINTED :-( – We purchased this oven in 2013 and have experienced constant issues. The element was replaced and the wok gas outlet fixed as it would not ignite. The oven does not cook evenly the top element is ineffective for grilling, the digital timer is not working which means no oven, the wok burner no longer works and the gas outlets can be temperamental. Just an oven – It really is just an old fashioned oven with no bells or whistles. Sure it's big, but doesn't do anything special, doesn't even have a self cleaning function. The digital display stopped working after 6 months – You pay a premium for this brand however the digital display buggers up after 6 months and this is what runs the oven. Problematic – The first month I had to replace the timer. I am an electrician and had to pay someone to do it under warranty. The timer lasted until warranty just ran out and packed it in again. Continual faults – Faults since the day it was installed: -Clock digital display stops working correctly after a few months. Not happy – Just picked up c91gmxat1 from Harvey Norman fyshwick after waiting 45 minutes for them to find it, u get it home and install it and the oven does not work at all. If they can get in touch with someone. I have 4 year old Westinghouse oven that has had the elements replaced 4 times and just wanted a oven that wouldn't let me down. At $3k plus I am not happy at all and don't won't it fixed would like a complete new unit as my last oven started the same way and if this happens again with this oven I may just explode.

Gas knobs not locking in – Have purchased 4 smeg ovens in the past and have been quite happy with three of them with rubber seals being the only issue. However, the above model appears not to match the quality for which Smeg is known for. Our oven has been exchanged before for a new one! Gas knobs do not allow gas to stay on and the oven is not doing what it's designed to do.

Unhappy – Yes I am happy with the way my food is cooked, but not happy with the many incidences of break downs. In 4 years we have had to replace the elements many times and the fans and the lights....all are quite expensive and most inconvenient. Great service, great appliance – Some of the LED light components on the timer / programmer of my SMEG oven "broke" i.e the time did not display properly. I emailed Steve Cullen at SMEG 10 days ago and this morning a technician repaired the lights under warranty even though the appliance is three years old. Apart from this I love this oven: reliable every time and it looks good. Would highly recommend it.

Got me worried – Mmmm .. Hope these gremlins have been sorted ,, i purchased my oven in oct only picked it up today, it gets installed in the new house in a couple of days , reading these reviews looks like i'm going to have to keep my fingers crossed There not excatly a cheap cooker , just hope mine works OK

Gas cooktop working but oven not working at all! – We purchased this oven only a couple of months ago for our new house we are building. Were totally upset to find that the oven on this dual fuel cooktop does not work at all. I have been unable to use it and am very disappointed that we went with this "high quality" product with the expensive price tag. Wish I had have chosen the cheaper Westinghouse now...

Doesn't live up to expectations – Has always taken ages to heat up but i am gappy with the space in it and the rotisserie feature. quoted to fix what the engineer thinks is a broken element. Should not happen in such a high spec oven we paid $3000 for such a short time ago. Seems to be happening a lot in these ovens if you read previous reviews.

Long time to heat up – For the second time in 5 years my oven is taking an extremely long time to heat up - today 45 mins to get to 150 deg Celsius. Last time i had to pay to get it fixed. Would not recommend to anyone. Paid $2995 as thought it was good quality brand. Very disappointed.

Won't buy Smeg again – Less than 3 years ago we remodeled our kitchen and purchased a new C9GMXA oven and a PUM90X undermounted rangehood from Smeg. Within a few months the LED lighting on the rangehood stopped working and the fan wasn't switching off (needed to be switched off manually at the mains). and the entire rangehood needed to be replaced. Now my oven has stopped heating (fan still works, but won't heat up) and according to the Smeg repairer I'll need to spend close to $500 to get it working again. That's 2 out 2 Smeg appliances with problems in less than 3 years. Mind you, all the other appliances I bought (from other brands LG and Bosch have been problem free). I thought Smeg was a quality brand. After all the money we spent I wouldn't purchase Smeg again- not worth it. Also, rangehood is so loud, sounds like you're in a wind tunnel- kids can't even watch TV in the next room whilst we're using it.

Happy Chappy – Great oven, have been using it flat out for 3 years now. We chose the oven because it was the largest oven on the market. It gets used everyday as my wife loves to bake. One thing to comment on is that the led light broke about 6 months after purchase so you can't read the time on the oven. It's a bit annoying but what can you do, other than going out a buying a new display. If anyone knows where i can get the part I may be able to fit it myself.

When the issue continued to occur they suggested, it was a pinched cable, and to slam the oven door a couple of times to get it working, which it did for a few months. So we used the oven without a light.

After about 3 years the oven wouldn't heat up and had to be repaired. Took forever, and multiple attempts, to get through to the local authorised SMEG repairer to book a repair date.

This oven was a inclusion when I build my new home. I have it since mid 2010 and working fine. Show details
