I bought a pastel blue kettle thinking as it was expensive it would surely last for a least a few years, the inside had rusted within months. I bought a second one thinking the first one was a one off defect. But the second one also rusted on the inside in less than 6 months. I won't be buying any more. They are way to expensive to last so short a time

Lasted only a few months past warranty – Purchased the blue Smeg teakettle. Loved it. About 1.5 yrs in the enamel started blistering. It’s still useable the the blister is growing every time it gets hot. Have had ZERO response from Smeg Canada thru emails, social media posts etc. so totally not impressed with such a hugely expensive item. Don’t waste your money. Show details

Customer service did not disappoint – My kettle died after about a year and a half of use. It stopped boiling the water. When contacted Customer Service, they were super prompt with resolving the issue by sending through a new kettle as it was still under warranty. emailed and Steve asked me for my address to send me a new one. I was hesitant as it all seemed too easy- but I did and the next week my brand new kettle was delivered, the new edition with the metal lettering rather than stickers.
I am amazed by smegs level of service, you are clearly paying for a lot more than a name!

Letters on the kettle are falling off – After over just a year using our Smeg kettle the letters are falling off, so far the letter “E” on one side and “G” on the other. Water doesn't boil – I purchased my kettle 14 months ago to put in my new house in the new coffee station I built, pictures attached. Then just the other week my kettle was boiling but the water was only just above warm and not as hot as it should be.
Obviously the heating element has gone, just really disappointed in the SMEG brand and the money also that I purchased for this kettle.
Now I will need to go to Kmart and buy a cheap $15 one which will probably last way lot longer then my SMEG., hopefully Kmart will have a matching toatser.

Its pretty quiet compared to our older Russell Hobbs.
Boils quicker then other kettles we have had in the past.
Looks as pretty as all the smeg kitchen appliances.
Cons
The spout is small therefore the water pours out a lot slower but this can also be a Pro point as is is very accurate.
No whistle(lol),
Conclusion
Very happy with this product
Very annoying kettle for $199 :(( – After 6 months of using the kettle cant be able to open the lid. Have to either forced it or punch it with my fingers. constantly complains as his fingers are much larger and cannot get lid open to fill. Now wondering if there will come a time when unable to fill. Not a heavy use family as only the two of us who work full time. Husband suggested I take back to store again but too embarrassed as you don't expect to have to return a quality item twice in such a short time.
