correctly. I did not think the 10-year workmanship warranty would need a retention to get action on poor & none compliance issues. I have sent numerous emails with no action. Made phone calls with promises but not action. I have logged a compliant with The New Energy Tech Consumer Code who also have not been able to get Solar Chief to respond. With that none response I have now logged a complaint with the Building Commission NSW.

​I have a large single-phase solar and battery setup. Now that we are trying to use the system's automation and manual features, there is a major conflict in the setup. If the battery tries to fast-charge from the grid while normal household appliances (like the dishwasher or dryer) are running, it overloads our main switchboard and completely trips the power getting us off the grid.

​I raised this issue with Solar Chief back in February 2026. It has been open for four months now, and despite numerous follow-ups, they have been completely unresponsive. They have not even sent a qualified electrician to physically inspect my property or attempt a proper hardware fix. Instead, a quick software "fix" they attempted remotely has created a permanent energy leak, forcing my system to constantly drain power from the grid even when my battery is completely full. This is actively costing me money and voiding my electricity plan's daily discounts, so I have asked them to disable it.

​It is incredibly frustrating to spend top dollar on a premium system only to be completely abandoned the moment something goes wrong. Buying solar is a long-term investment, and you need a company that actually stands by their work. Solar Chief does not

by mid February, which was a hard deadline as I needed the solar panels installed for the Occupancy Certfiicate (OC) of my home development.

After no contact in three months, I called them in early to mid February 2026 asking when installation would occur. I got put onto the installation scheduler who said he would send a technician to review the job but "when one was available in the area". I had asked that my builder be on site, but I couldn’t get a commitment for a time and date until one night a got a message at 5pm that they would be on site the next day at 11a, (they turned up at 10am).

There was some communication breakdown as to the requirements of the solar and battery installation, but I basically outlined that I didn't want a conduit running up the front of my new house, and it would need to be at the back or side. They called back in the second week of March 2026 saying they couldn't do the job, and to take my deposit back. This is days before I was told installation would occur, and approximately two weeks prior to my OC being signed off - which couldn't occur without the solar installed.

The initial sales agent revealed to me that my job "will take a couple of days", and in that time "they could install two to three batteries per day". I then realised that the battery rebate was reducing by the end of April and these dodgy installers were randomly cancelling jobs to focus on those which deliver them the most profit. It had nothing to do with my job being too difficult, as was claimed at one point.

These guys don't install their own work, and are just a retail front. They don't respect their own contract that they pushed to have me sign, and are happy to burn customers to make a quick buck on government rebates. I am in a pickle as I can't get my OC and we plan on moving into the house in the next two weeks.

This all started at about mid September 2025. months passes and I cannot even get a reply for when this will occur. Absolute shonks! totally disappointed. Sent Email March 2026, finally got a response 2 weeks later after a reminder email, Response was, No technicians available until May/ June. I sent an email about a month ago for a date, no response, it is the end of May now.

Martin, is an absolute pleasure to work with. His commitment to his clients and work ethic is commendable. Had an issue with my wifi and no data was being sent to my phone for my battery/solar production. Martin, ensured the matter was resolved within a few hours. No long run around and days to get back to you. If you want someone who provides great customer service even after 6 months not just at the sales stage. Go with Martin!
