The inverter and micro inverters work well. Its the login to the app on the iphone which is absolutely lousy. It does not accept my password which I know is correct as I can login on my computer. Trying to change the password has proved impossible. Solaredge advises it will send your email a code but then no email arrives with the code. It… Read more

doesn't matter how many times you try, it simply does not work. So, there's no access to the app to check on how the system is going. It is extremely hard to talk to anyone at Solaredge so the problem remains unresolved. Completing their online support contact form takes an inordinate amount of time and asks for what appears to be totally irrelevant information. It seems designed to dissuade users from lodging issues. Do better Solaredge.

Very happy with Solaredge. We had a slight issue with the inverter shutting itself off during the day and then us drawing power from the grid but all it needed was a firmware update which they can check remotely if you are hooked up to wifi. Thank you for your help Stirling. Absolute legend. We are drawing almost nothing from the grid. We have a 14.5kw battery system and 6.6kw Solar. Show details

Welcome to your Solar Edge support experience! Expect your in-warranty device to be offline for months at a time, whilst you get handled by an incompetent support team, that tell you're you're their "highest priority", yet a simple stock check takes them 4 weeks to complete, with another 2 weeks to send a replacement invertor. EDIT 15/08/2025: Wow. Now two DC optimisers have failed (P505). Again, these are about 5 years old and come with a 25 year warranty. The first one died about a month ago and finally got a replacement. A day after the replacement arrived a second one has died. My installer is going to replace them but how long before other parts start to die? I was… Read more

going to get a SolarEdge battery but not anymore.

Original Post: Purchased Solar Edge inverter with DC optimisers. Five years after installation the inverter dies and it came with a 12 year warranty. System no longer producing. I contact my solar installer company who escalates to Solar Edge. Five weeks later Solar Edge have approved my warranty claim but solar installer has not received replacement inverter. Thankfully, my solar installer is going to give me a "loner" inverter to get my system back up, which will mean six weeks without a system producing. A huge thank you to my solar installer for giving me this loner inverter.

I had the option of going Enphase but chose Solar Edge because of the good warranty and high quality parts, or so I thought. My system is approx 8.47kw with LG panels and as I am based in Tasmania I paid top dollar for what I thought was high quality system from a high quality company, Solar Edge. I was warned by others not to go with Solar Edge and was told to go with Enphase microinverters. I understand "sh~t" happens and this could happen with any company but it has been the absolutely terrible communication from Solar Edge.

Now I wonder how long I'll wait next time if and when something breaks. If anyone asks me on my thoughts I will tell them that Solar Edge do honour warranty claims but be prepared for slow/poor communication and a long time getting replacement parts.

Unreliable equalizers – After owning my solar system for several years, I had to have several equalizers replaced. Several years ago I got a plugin hybrid car and added two 400 watt solar panels to charge it. It looks like I have the same problem with the equalizers and it only got worse when the two new panels were added. The dealer reluctantly came out and checked… Read more

the voltage on the equalizers and said that there wasn’t any problem. The problem they said that there were shadows. There was only one small shadow on one panel and they would not come out later in the day when there were no shadows. By the way, it was other panels that had reduced output. When I contacted Solar Edge all they did was send me a link to shadows on the panels. That dealer is now out of business. Yes, when the panels were added the output increased but not every month. Time has shown that in February and March the output is the same as before the new panels were added. In January there is only a small increase. I guess the equalizers don’t work when the days are short, the temperature is low or the sun is low in the sky. Also note that the output could be higher in the spring and summer if the inverter wasn’t saturated and limiting the output.

Positive experience – This is our second Solar (& Solaredge) installation in 4 years. We have been very satisfied with both systems. The second system includes a Solaredge battery. There was some initial occasional interruption associate with 'firmware' updates in one part not communicating with another however Solaredge support have been very responsive and resolved this quickly. Show details

charger stopped working properly (also solar edge and it turned out the problem was actually the inverter). Quite naturally I planned to claim this on insurance, and made initial enquiries along those lines. Solar Edge decided that despite the scorched mother board, they couldn't prove it was the storm and have just sent out a replacement inverter which is currently being installed. The customer service and support via the installation company has been absolutely excellent and they have made this a very smooth process.

Follow-up  · So, a quick follow up from the questions asked. The charger is about to get replaced (waiting for that), they thought the problem was the inverter, so that's been replaced. My experience with SolarEdge was a real roller coaster. On one hand, their initial response was lightning fast—I reported my 4-year-old inverter faulty in late February and had a replacement unit sitting in my garage within 5 days. I thought "Wow, that’s great service!" However, that’s where the "speed" ended. Even though I had the part, I had to… Read more

wait a full month just for a technician to be available. To make matters worse, on the morning of my appointment—after I had already taken a day off work to be home—I got a call saying it was cancelled because the technician was sick.

I later found out they only have one technician covering the whole of Adelaide. While I totally understand people get sick (and I don't blame the staff at all), it’s pretty disappointing that a big company has no backup plan. It took nearly two months to get my solar system back up and running.

On a positive note, the technician who finally came out was fantastic. Even though he was still coughing and clearly not 100% recovered, he was super professional and did a great job. Also, just a heads-up for others: the warranty doesn't "restart" with the new unit; it just carries on from your original purchase date.

Great hardware and staff, but the company really needs to hire more people in SA so customers aren't left in the dark for months.

I had a warranty issue with the inverter which was about 3 years old. It took them 4.5 months to have it replaced. and 15 emails at my initiation for them to finally sort the situation out. There was no proactive management of the case, despite them acknowledging the significant delays taken. My system was down between 2 October and 22 February, the most productive months. I was then offered $260 in compensation. Honestly, if I could give a rating of zero I would. A complete shambles and considerable frustration thro the whole thing. Run from these guys as fast as you can. Appalling

Have 2 x 5kW inverters installed 5 years ago. First one died after 4 years, second after 5. Original installer isn't interested in changing the second one so SolarEdge have told me to sort it out myself with no clear guidelines on who is going to pay. The monitoring app knew the inverter had failed both times but didn't tell me - I had to notice that solar production was down (which I initially thought was because it was overcast for weeks)

invertor was working again. So I've updated my review and given them 4 stars for helping me so promptly. Thank you Solar edge. 1st solar edge invertor lasted a couple of years. Replaced with updated version. This one failed after a few months. 3rd invertor installed Sept 5th. Now this one is no longer working. The app is supposed to give information regarding the running of the unit, however after installment of the latest model, this no longer works. I'm registered with PowerPal which gives me actual electricity usage in real time and proves the unit is faulty. The cost of electricity has doubled since the failure of the unit, and having to wait 3 weeks plus for replacement is very poor. Fortunately the warranty protects me from extra cost at present

I was one of the first SolarEdge customers in Australia, installing my system back in 2014. I also paid my Queensland installer for the 25-year extended warranty uplift during installation. Unfortunately, that… Read more

installer has since gone out of business, and SolarEdge has refused to honour the extended warranty leaving me with only the standard coverage, which expires in less than 12 months. Despite being a loyal early adopter and someone who recommended SolarEdge to many others, I now feel completely abandoned by the company.

To make matters worse, one of my inverter strings failed over 12 months ago, and the SolarEdge monitoring portal provided no alert or notification. When the system was first released, customers could access an “Alerts” tab in the monitoring portal to track issues, but that feature has since been removed. Without it and with my installer gone I had no way of knowing my system wasn’t functioning properly. This has cost me significantly with higher power bills. To make matters worse, I have a new company who wants to charge me $500 to monitor the system for me !

After years of supporting this brand, I’m now seriously considering removing the entire system and switching to another vendor. My experience shows that SolarEdge does not value or respect long-term customers, nor do they stand by the commitments made when their products were first introduced.

My advice: stay away from SolarEdge. They may have cutting-edge marketing, but their customer support and warranty practices are anything but.

2 storey house so I can't just check it.

The battery is terrible / randomly turns off, so we are forced to use the grid despite being full. At the moment, the battery is online about 25% of the time - so effectively the battery only offers 25% usable capactiy. Who knows if it'll even provide the grid backup we need, or whether it'll randomly turn off 75% of the time and leave us without battery backup we paid for?! It worked fine for a few months, now it's not working. Not sure if buggy firmware, or the battery is about to fail.

Monitoring is entirely useless / it’s inaccurate and has no resemblance to what the utility provider shows. This happens only when the battery is fully charged. When the battery is charging it's accurate, but once charged, the system massively over-reads our house's usage. That was a fun time discovering that - frantically turning off every circuit-breaker in the house, panicked that something was about to catch fire due to our house usage surging to about 5 times our usual baseload usage.

And when you contact support, they say ‘it’s performing as expected’ (typical), or 'we're about to push out a fix' (which has never come).

I wish I’d never bought this system. Avoid.

Follow-up  · The battery issues started a few months after install. Initially we loved it, but the battery is becoming more and more unreliable. It's now down to being active for 20% of the time. I tried a test by disconnecting the grid to see if perhaps running solely off battery would work - the power went out twice in an hour. Effectively we've dropped $10k… Read more

I think solaredge has some special deal with installers to make them push for this product. At our installer's insistence we've had a solaredge system (solar + EV charger) installed on our hose and regretted it every day since. charger - won't do solar-only mode, and often won't charge at all - just shows a red ring of death. When something goes wrong with solaredge, you're totally at the mercy of your installer - it's totally impossible to get ahold of anyone at solaredge for support. Their 10 year warranty might as well be written on toilet paper as much as they care about that. Save yourself the pain, and go with a different brand.
