Wealth of detailed info. Great help for making informed decisions. Love the 3 quote system. I do not hesitate to recommend to friends and family. I wish my parents knew of this site 4 years ago when they went solar.
Horrible Dutch Auction site
Over 600 solar companies have gone broke in the last 7 years and its portals like solar quotes leaving homeowners with dud systems with no contact after the systems stop working as the company no exists. Recommending any company that will pay referral fees and leads is a great business model for Finn Peacock but not for consumers.
Solar Quotes - Must have as a starting point.
When I commenced researching solar I came across the Solar Quotes site. From the moment I started reading their on line site, including receiving their weekly e-mails I received all the information required to make an informed decision on what I needed. From the three "quotes" I received, 3 very good Companies replied within 24 hours and after speaking to them had the difficult decision of selecting one. As I am in country WA I thought this would be even harder, but all three gave quotes. I selected, in my opinion, the best being "Infinite Ener...gy" with Rory OBrien as the consultant. Through Rory and reference to Solar Quotes information I selected Sun Power panels and a Fronius Primo inverter. These have just been fitted and the installers were excellent tradesmen who used first class materials, were quick, efficient and left the workplace in a clean and tidy condition. By using the Solar Quotes information and in conjunction with Rory's input, I would strongly recommend anyone considering going solar to use "Infinite Energy" in conjunction with Solar Quotes. Information provided by Solar Quotes is extremely useful, along with a great sense of humour from the staff, which can be possibly needed during this time. There can an additional cost for some as I found out, with being at the end of a gridline I had a Western Power bill of $800 to upgrade the line from from the Transformer to my Power Meter to allow me the system I required. This upgrade was my decision to allow for the larger system.
The second time around
This is the second time I have used SolarQuotes. The first time, 5 years ago, I used one of the three recommended firms to install our second solar system and it was (and still is) a very satisfactory system and experience.
This second experience was somewhat different, as the inverter in my original, 10 year old system had died and I wanted advice about the best way to proceed - whether to just replace the inverter or to replace the whole original system including the panels with a remaining 15 year performance warranty.
Both of the suggest...ed firms responded quickly and recommended replacing the old system basically like for like and/or preferably upgrading to a bigger system. One even recommended pulling out both the 10 year old and 5 year old systems and upgrading the whole lot. Neither would just replace the inverter; they sold "systems", they said when asked. In the end I have decided to go back to the original provider and get a new inverter installed and, by so doing, maximise the remaining 15 year warranty value of the panels and installation. A $2000 job rather than a $6,000 or $7,000 project. Only time will tell whether or not I have made the correct decision.
get lots of quotes!
social media is bombarding me with solar systems for 6kw units for around $3000, and less.
I didnt even have a quote before the first installer told me there would be a $7000 install fee.
JNT Electrical. Best value for money on the Gold Coast. Highly recommend.
After doing lots of research on the best inverter / solar panels and getting many quotes I finally decided upon getting JNT Electrical to do the install. For was for a number of reasons, they offered the best price, best (timely) customer service & agreed to do the job 3 months down the track (at my request) with no deposit required. Laurie, their Sales Rep is fantastic! Laurie ended up doing 3 different quotes for me (at my request) as I kept changing my mind (re panels/inverter & the number of panels I wanted). None of this was ever a proble...m for Laurie. He'd get the quote back to me later the same day or following morning. JNT organised all the change over paperwork for me, I didn't have to do anything with my energy provider or Energex in connecting to the grid, JNT did it all. Lachie (their wonderful technician/installer) even got up on the roof to do a precise measure up included in their quote (not many other techs who came out did this - go the same effort or time). Jason the owner of JNT was so helpful, friendly & professional. Nothing was too much trouble for him either. Jason & his team of four (4) showed up on time on the day of install, finished in a matter of hours, their team is efficient and hard working. Laurie the Sales Rep even showed up on the day to hand deliver me a bouquet of flowers to thank me for choosing JNT. By choosing JNT I ended up saving up to $1500 compared to other solar installers on the GC (for the same premium product). JNT are the best value for money on the Gold Coast. If you're looking to get solar quotes, start with JNT Electrical. I guarantee you'll get the best price (comparing apples for apples - premium inverter/panel products), the best service & peace of mind with their professionalism & any follow up questions you might have after installation. I can't fault these guys. Very happy I chose JNT.
Great resource for those considering investing in solar
As someone on the edge of solar viability I found the SolarQuotes website and the team a very useful resource for understanding the current situation regarding solar and how it applied to me. I received the three quotes organised by them very quickly and was further assisted with my decision by some specific advice from the team.
I'm going ahead with the installation far more confident with my decision than I otherwise would have been.
Top Product Reviews
This is a great platform in helping me make an informed decision about what I was actually looking at in regards to purchasing a good quality systems for my home.
Best place to start for solar installation
This is an excellent platform to develop your education and research about solar systems for your home. 4 years ago I wanted to install a solar system but the inconsistent information and high cost were too overwhelming and I bedded the idea. Solarquotes has not only been a reliable source of information, the knowledge I gained has also empowered me to make a decision that I'm confident of. There's also the added assurance of getting quotes promptly from companies that have a proven track record and have been vetted. I highly recommend Solarquotes as the first place to start. I have installed a system with Smart Energy Answers - 15x 350 LG panels & Solaredge 5KW Inverter - best decision in 2019!
Finn and the team at Solar Quotes were helpful, convincing me to go ahead in doing something I've always wanted to do - go solar!
They made a difficult decision easy, after providing the names of 3 companies, and been provided with 3 quotes, I made my choice.
Very helpful in weeding out shonky operators.
I asked for two quotes and only got a response from one. This is still on going.
Solar Quotes is a great idea and they offered follow up but some businesses really shouldn't be in business.
Efficient and easy process
Pleasantly surprised at the quick response at getting the quotes to have some solar panels installed.
Contacted by the installers within a couple of days and all in all a good experience.
excellent information - even for the 'dummy'
I have used Finn's recommendations of questions to ask and found it very empowering. We ended up going with Micheal Summers from NRG who was extremely knowledgeable about all solar parts as he was an actual solar design consultant (as Finn recommends) not just a sales person. We were also having our electricity meter moved just before the solar install and Michael spoke to our sparky to make sure all the new electricity components were compatible and sufficient for the new solar system, and he certainly knew all about the electrical side as wel...l. Phenomenal knowledge, excellent service, excellent communication, excellent company NRG!! Thanks for making it all so easy Finn, your information was highly valuable in what seemed to be a maze of options. Keep it up!
Need to check reviews on recommended companys
I used your company to find captain green who installed a solar system. You should warn people captain green use sub contractors. They also do not return phone calls or emails once they have been paid in full. All you have to do is look at their reviews, but you keep on recommending them. So like me other people keep having a nightmare dealing with them.

100% trustworthy and knowledge
I started my research on solar kits with SolarQuotes which was the best start. 3 Quotes were promptly received and ended up going with one of them. Finn knows what he is talking and shares the best unbaised knowledge first hand! 100% factual information explained in lay man terms for any one to understand everything about solar without any background information. I am totally satisfied with their suggested installer. I would strongly recommend SolarQuotes to be your starting point for Solar Research. You would be saved from the dodgy ones in the market.
Genuine and honest
A go to site for information on Solar PV installation, to the point, extensive and factual, uncomplicated enough for the lay person to understand. So glad I found this site.
Since September, 2018, after researching some basic knowledge of solar system I shopped around to find a trustworthy company for a solar system. Most of them just tried to sale without appropriately giving and/or explaining the complexities of solar products. And configurations. I nearly lost my interest to get the system. By chance, I found TechnAus in Melbourne and discussed with Jason, a sale manager. I was impressed with his diligent & professional attitudes and took his offer. During the process of waiting for installation, TechnAus regula...rly informed me when the system would be installed by Sonia & Vignest (technician manger). Prior to a day of the installation, Vignest came to my house to inspect my roof. After following day of the installation, Sonia phoned me to check if I had any problem and/or was pleased with installation boys worked. So far so good. WELL DONE. However, I recommend TechAus should have a technician to spend 15 minutes to explain customers basic information to use Fronius Inverter. I spent a day to search for its full manual & played around to set up WIFI, even I have a reasonable IT knowledge ( because the manual/Youtube did not tell you tricks/hints to connect) . Otherwise, after the installation, TechAus throw customers under bus or overboad. I hope TechnAus would not let me down, if something went wrong with the system. I will keep Product Review update, if necessary.

Comprehensive and unbiased information and opinion
I've used SolarQuotes' service of obtaining 3 quotes and have been entirely satisfied with their suggested installer who completed the installation efficiently. I would strongly recommend SolarQuotes to anyone considering putting up solar panels on their roof and to browse their blog site to obtain unbiased information on anything solar. Thank you SolarQuotes. I deeply appreciate your services in the area of solar, to the community.
A must for anyone considering going solar
A Solar array was something I have been considering for some time.. It has not been easy to sort out all the relevant information but the Solar Quotes web site was very helpful. There is a pleather of information put forward by a number of operators, often confusing, some bordering on deceitful. Information provided by Solar Quotes plus some answers to questions I emailed to them, helped to educate me.
Therefore I was able to gather quotes but most of all I was able to understand what they were saying, and what exactly they were offering .So ...
Unbiased & Genuine
I received quotes from different companies. My family and I really got along well with the Solargain guys in Hervey Bay and they answered all my questions. The guys that did the installation were friendly and showed me how to monitor my inverter and were knowledgeable as well.
I'm happy I found Solarquotes, I'd definitely recommend the site to everyone. Great site Finn Peacock!
Questions & Answers
I have just sent you a request for 3 solar quotes. But I have a question about two particular inverters that I have been researching. What is the failure rate of Sungrow inverters versus Fronius. What is the aftersales service of both companies.
We live in a coastal environment where rust and corrosion is a big problem. What would be your advice regarding solar panels, racking systems, and inverters with regards to the high salt areas.
I don't have access to any hard numbers to answer your question (manufacturers keep them pretty close to their chest!) - but I can say that both have very good reputations for low failure rates. Both also have very good reputations for after-sales service in case there is an issue and your original installer is no longer around to assist.
In terms of solar panels in coastal areas - the main thing is that they are "IEC 61701" rated - ideally level 6. See here: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/salt-mist/
I can't really comment about rhe coastal issue. As far as inverters are concerned, my first inverter was a Sharp which lasted 10 years. I replaced it last year with a Fronius, because I have had a Fronius inverter for 5 years on my second solar system and it has been faultless and much more "intelligent " than the earlier Sharp.
How do I get some quotes from different solar power installers ?
Hi Kenneth - just fill in our form here: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/quote/
Hi - we are in the process of getting quotes for a system ( 5Kw to 6.6Kw) Our home has shading issues due to our neighbours trees & are unable currently to get assistance to trim or dispose of. We have quotes for string systems with standard wall inverters / Optimiser & also Mirco Inverter systems . During winter of course days shorter and sun lower , along with shade issues, our mission has become more involved and perhaps our quotes are not exactly looking at the environment nor our wishes to achieve a better than good result from our investment. I see the benefit of Optimizer / Mirco Inverters in our situation however there seems to be varying opinions on the Pro’s & Cons of these 2 components - Voltage Blocking / Failure Rates etc .. we would appreciate if we could receive feedback & recommendations from users who have installed in similar environments.. thanking you
For our general overview of microinverters vs optimisers - see here: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/solar-panel-optimisation/
In terms of your specific situation - what you want is a "SunEye" analysis carried out: https://www.solarquotes.com.au/blog/how-to-be-sure-that-shading-wont-kill-your-solar-power-systems-output/ to determine how much the shading will affect output at different times of the year.
