I had an Edwards 300 l rooftop solar hotwater system that regrettably failed due to an unrepairable leak from a rusted edge of the tank where it had been factory welded (stainless steel isnt supposed to do this in a short time), after a short 11 years. Two independent solar specialist confirmed after inspection that it could not be repaired nor… Read more · 2
the tank replaced at an affordable cost. After researching I discovered the following:
Standard Stainless Steel (usually 304 grade): Contains 18% chromium and 8% nickel. Provides good corrosion resistance and strength for general indoor or mild outdoor environments. This is used in all other solar tanks with the exception of Germantech.
Germantech uses the following: Marine Grade Stainless Steel (usually 316 grade): Contains 16–18% chromium, 10–14% nickel, and crucially 2–3% molybdenum. The molybdenum dramatically improves resistance to chloride corrosion — i.e., rust and pitting caused by salt, minerals, and chemicals in water. This was the major consideration in choosing a Germantech 300 l solar hotwater system. What convinced me is the marine grade stainless steel which is far more resistant to corrosion than other brands that use stainless steel, and living near the ocean means marine grade has far higher resistance to rust than the standard 304 grade used by other manufacturers. The panel is also of the highest grade which means it can capture sunlight at its minimum and still heat the water.
Robert at Evergreen was very helpful, and the installers were professional and courteous. It has been 2 months since installation and I'm impressed by the solar capturing ability during overcast days, making hotwater available without boosting.
I had SolarGreen install our solar panels back in 2019 and they did an excellent job. Now in 2026 we decided to add a battery to our system. SolarGreen replaced the old inverter and installed the new inverter and battery. A very clean and tidy installation. They also upgraded wiring where the old inverter was an installed our EV charger. We had the German tech rooftop solar installed by the team on Thursday, just prior the cyclone. They arrived early, worked neatly, quietly and efficiently and communications and explanations on site were exceptional with a lot of patience for all questions and some interesting facts learned. The tradespeople are polite, punctual, and highly efficient, ensuring a seamless process from start to finish. Their fitters are exceptional, and the after-sales service and maintenance are unparalleled. We would like to give a big thumbs up to DOUGS ELECTRICAL for the super electrical work on our latest job.
After the SEQ Christmas Day storms, the Solar Green-endorsed solar panels remained intact and fully functional. While our solar air-conditioning unit was affected by a lightning strike, Rob, at Solar Green, responded promptly to assess the damage, decommission the unit, and ensure our safety. The quality of their products speaks for itself—they are built to last, and Solar Green ensures responsible ecological recycling of the decommissioned parts.
The team went above and beyond to help us navigate the damages and the complexities of insurance claims. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and we are incredibly grateful for their support.
If you’re considering installing air conditioning or any solar solutions, Solar Green is the clear standout.

Factually, the Seraphim Solar Panel array and Sungrow Inverter along with the Germantech Solar Hot water system we had installed by SolarGreen to replace previously failed systems have worked to task as expected coming up to the first full year since installation. Absolutely no problem or dispute about this. Where this all goes wrong is the service that SolarGreen is offering, and, despite their perceived "value" of having over fifteen years of experience, it all counts for nought. Let me explain, keeping it to the main points. Bear in mind, the service provided by SolarGreen is what is being reviewed here.
My Wife put out requests for quotes in April 2023 for a replacement of existing antiquated equipment that failed and was installed under the Queensland Government High Feed-in Tariff back in 2013. This equipment was allowed to be replaced under the legislation created at that time provided that it doesn't exceed the previous outputs of the unit to be replaced nor the limits of capacity placed at the time of installation in 2013 to be able to retain the Feed-In Tariff. As such, the "request" was stylised to include these imperative requirements. We were met with many responses and my wife spent some time vetting them before ultimately deciding to go with SolarGreen. Let me put it out there that SolarGreen were not the dearest quote by a longshot, but were nowhere near the cheapest either. My Wife found that the communications from SolarGreen through their General Manager, [Name Removed], were second to none and there was no condescension that was prevalent from the many other companies that tendered towards woman.
[Name Removed], General Manager of SolarGreen, put to us a quote along with written and verbal confirmation that we would retain our generous Feed-In Tariff and be provided with many years of trouble-free powering of our home. We made him aware, that we were not willing to go ahead with the installation if we were to lose our Feed-In Tarrif (FIT) as it would be cost prohibitive. [Name Removed] alluded to SolarGreen’s fifteen years in business and that HE had done this many times previously without issue.
Installation took place on the 23rd June 2023. There was Two different teams; one for the Hot Water System and one for the Panels/ Inverter. Installation went relatively well with a few issues ironed out over the following fortnight.
Fast-forward to November 1st 2023 and we were advised by Energex that our original FIT had been cancelled. When calls and emails to the Ombudsmen laid out that it was due to our latest installation exceeding original capacities, we were left with an investment that will never pay for itself.
In short, be prepared if you are dealing with SolarGreen. The initial contact, couldn’t fault. The Installation; a few hiccups, but again, I can live with the few niggles. It was the solemn oath that we wouldn’t lose our FIT that had put us out of pocket to the tune of around $7000 with no chance on return on investment. Throughout all this, SolarGreen, through their General Manager, [Name Removed], initially was helpful before ultimately, ghosting us. Left with little choice, we approached Queensland Fair Trade who were having initial success in dialogue, but has since come to a stonewall as well. In short, SolarGreen, through their General Manager, [Name Removed], are quick to blame anyone, be it QLD Government or Energex as opposed to admitting they simply lied to obtain business.
Ask yourself before committing to this installer; can you afford such an outlay based on SolarGreen’s “goodwill” and “knowledge” which evaporates quicker than the Brisbane Fog on a sunny day when something goes wrong? If I can save one Product Review site visitor from what we went through and are about to go through, then penning this review would have been worthwhile.
Totally Impressed – Installed in less than 2 weeks, we are very very happy with the way it performs and looks on our roof. One of their guys Mason took the time to patiently explain every aspect of solar and answer all of our questions, and trust me we had a lot. They were patient and there was no hard sell or harassing phone calls that we got from some other well… Read more
known solar companies. The whole process was effortless and we can't recommend them highly enough. The real deciding factor for us was the honest advice we received. I had been researching solar for months and pretty much knew exactly what we needed. Our roof is partially shaded at some times during the day some times during the year and while some of the other companies were just trying to flog us a bog standard 6.6kW system and told us they wold work fine, which I already knew they wouldn't. Mason on the other hand refused to sell us a standard system, telling me they would take my money just to install a white elephant system on my roof. Instead they offered us both Optimised and Micro Inverter options. We went with the Solar Edge system with 365w smart modules. It works great and the App is amazing. The installers showed up at exactly 7:30am as promised, were polite and well behaved and were generally very professional and un-tradie like. They did the job, cleaned up all of their mess and took the time to make sure we understood how everything works. Totally impressed and happy that there are still Aussie companies out there offering such honest advice and top notch service.
