Great Secondhand tv – Bought this tv from Cashies 3 yrs ago has been perfect , except for a software glitch l had awhile back. Was turning off and on on a repeat cycle. is pretty good. Because my friend already buy two TV because her son hit the TV. She only have one Boy, but for me, two boys, but the TV still OK. So it actually pretty good. Normally we put YouTube to TV for watching movie and so on.

Rubbish - very poor design, quality and reliability – Jan 19 Update Software updates appear to have fixed the wireless connectivity issues. months ago. It has to be one of the biggest disappointments of all my tech purchases. I have always held in high regard Sony products and owned many over the years, but I consider this TV to be a total piece of JUNK! If you buy this TV then I think you are flushing your money down the toilet.

Pros

Picture quality and sound are good.

Aesthetics are pleasing to the eye and narrow bezel.

Cons

Remote does not work well, you often have to mash buttons multiple times to get them to work, changing batteries makes no difference.

Mira screen casting only works when it wants to, which is 50% of the time.

The remote buttons are not intuitive, of the six key menu buttons only the TV and back buttons make any sense.

The on-screen user interface is confusing and trying to find things can be like trying to a find needle in a haystack.

The software is slow, it can take a long time to make simple screen transitions and sometimes it just hangs.

This is an Android TV but don't expect it to work like your Android phone. It is very unreliable and the apps crash a lot! The Netflix app is very unreliable. The other day I came home and the TV had switched itself on during the day etc.

You only get a very small selection of apps and they are not that well designed for the TV. There is a Google search bar with a microphone button so you can speak to search. However this does not work, I assume you have to buy a microphone. I don't know there is nothing to say that you have to do this.

It took forever to get my VCR working as the VCR connection instructions were not correct, so wiring was a game of try every combination of random connections until you find one that works.

The Wi-Fi connection has given me endless trouble despite being line-of-sight to a high-end modem which is less than 4 metres away. It keeps losing the connection each time you turn the TV off, so you have to sign in every time to use it. The help menu is useless for troubleshooting, after trying everything, I put in a support call to Sony, who advised I should turn off IPv6 on the TV. This has only partially fixed it and is puzzling given I have an IPv6 modem and ADSL IPv6 connection, so sounds like another bug in the TV. I am still losing the connection 50% of the time, so you need to go to settings and re-enter your password each time. This is doubly frustrating as the on-screen keyboard is accessed from the remote and when you select a letter/number you may have to press the buttons on the remote numerous times just to get it to register one keystroke.

I do not have any good things to say about this TV and reiterate that it was a waste of money for me. I think it is a total piece of junk that will drive one close to insanity with its unreliability and dysfunctional user interface. Which is a shame because the sound and picture quality are good.

2/7/18 Sony appeared to have released a software update for this TV in late 2017 and this has resolved the Wi-Fi connectivity issues and app crashes, but I have found that it still will sometimes switch itself on without prompting.

Problems with the ability to connect to wifi – Everything about the quality of the tv is good but really bad wifi connections. realisation that Sony just haven't got wifi connections working. I cannot compare it with other brands as I only have had Sony but at this stage I wouldn't recommend buying one.

TV need repair, but one sony customer service tried to avoid the case and refuse to provide any any – I bought Sony 49X7000D 3 months ago and suddenly couldn't connect internet 3 weeks ago. 1st time called Sony, customer E helped me book SSS electrical to repair. refused to provide any help or change a repair center, but insisted me myself calling SSS to book another repair and lied to me saying its still open case and its the easiest way for Sony.

So I called SSS but been told I will be charged $155 for another repair.

I called Sony back same customer service Alex answered, and I told him the story, he put me on hold for 20 minutes and came back saying nothing he can help!

I am extremely disappointed and anger about Sony Alex and SSS 's service. They only wasted my time and phone bill but help ZERO!!

Amazing TV – Very good quality TV with superb picture quality. Also comes with good sound system. A smart TV that allows you to watch youtube directly from it. Not as good as my Samsung TV – I bought this TV for use in our second living room (which is mostly used by kids), but have to say that it isn't quite as good as my Samsung TV downstairs which has a clearer image and easier to navigate with the remote. For the price it is good value though.  Show details

High definition – This TV offers high definition quality on shows that you can watch on free TV. It's a smartphone but the features are really hard to use with the TV switch given, I had to buy my own to replace it as it works better (still not perfect though). Another problem with this TV is the price, its pretty expensive compared to other TVs on the market. However if you can afford that I'd go with it.  Show details

A new way to view – The picture quality is first class, the change from the old set is remarkable. Sound quality is good, clear voice and not required to be turned right up to hear the audio. Love this TV! – picture and sound clarity are awesome and very much satisfied after upgrading from old TV. Easy to use functions and my kid can go through all the options. So far, so good! – We bought this TV recently and so far we love it! The size is perfect (49 inches) for our small apartment. The picture quality is amazing but we will need to update our Netflix and Foxtel to HD to ensure optimal picture quality - Netflix currently goes a bit blurry. Awesome product – It has really good sound and picture quality, I like the shape and style of the TV as well. Fantastic smart TV - would recommend – Very satisfied with this TV. Very functional smart tv system (android OS), Wireless + LAN internet connectivity. The sound is very good for a TV but understandably lacking a bit of bass. Screen clarity top notch, great screen brightness, and the 4K + 100hz definitely make a video look much better. satisfied with the quality of the picture I now don't have to wear my glasses as everything is so clear, very satisfied with the built in speakers as no leads and boxes to mess up the house, I feel we have enough ports like how many ports do you need, I am ok with it being a smart TV as having apps on my smartphone makes it easygoing for me .

Better quality picture than expected – The picture quality is amazing, much better than I anticipated. the built-in speakers give a great surround sound. the unit has enough ports for my liking, but if I was going to use other items like music keyboards or similar there may not be enough. how to use it is complicated. There are plenty of HDMI and USB ports but after3 weeks I am still trying to work out how to use freeview as it keeps saying I need an internet connection even though it is connected to the net.

do. With its Android operating system, it operates very similarly to the android phones. Integrates well with my android phone too. A decent number of 4 HDMI ports and 3 USB ports meets my port requirements very well. Still trying to figure out how to connect to Freeview. Got into it once but couldn't do it today. It just kept saying that Internet connection is required which it already is (connected).

We love it! – The picture quality is excellent and the speakers are more than adequate without the need for a sound bar. It has six ports which is more than enough for our requirements. We're still learning how to use it but the more we learn the more satisfied we become. Having a Smart TV has given us a whole new range of viewing options.  Show details
