The tv's strength is its color fidelity for video editing and watching movies in a dim room. It has many weaknesses including a dim display, weak speakers (it needs a cable to external speakers since it won't connect via bluetooth) and a slow refresh rate, which would affect gaming. I run my ps4 on it, but I am not a demanding gamer. On the whole, I would not recommend this tv, particularly for the lack of bluetooth compatibility with speakers.

I like free-to-air (old fashioned i know). my questions a) does this TV do free-to-air? b) is it via aerial or internet? c) is it easy to run free-to-air d) recording TV shows. some people seem to say you can record vai an external recorder, other seem to say you can't run an external recorder. my question is - can one run a set top box from this TV to record? thanks

Like most things, it depends on your TV reception. I don't get great reception out where I am (and I've got to boost it as well). I don't seem to have too many problems with live TV. And the TV tunes into all the normal HD channels. Motionwise it seems to work pretty well on live TV. Only if it's a compressed file, then it seems to have a few issues decompressing it at times. So again, depending on your reception, your results may vary.

Can I have headphones and TV Speakers on at the same time as One of my parents have a hearing inpatient?

Yeah, no idea. It has a headphone audio connection on the back (which is hard to get to) and not sure whether it switches sound off completely. Probably better off asking sony about that one. I've got my TV hooked through an amplifier. I'd be using that for the headphones as it's easier to plug a set of headphones in and I know the sound from the TV works whether it's connected to an amp or not.
