Sony X9000F Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy TV KD55X9000F is not turning on... It's blinking red on the power button, any help?
I’ve had the KD75X9000F for 3 years now and haven’t had any major issues with the tv. However, all of a sudden, the tv stopped powering on. I tried all of the troubleshooting techniques mentioned on the website but failed. The tv worked fine in the afternoon but a few hours later, it just won’t respond. Any idea on what could have gone wrong?
Try the dumbest possible problem. Replace remote batteries. Turn off power on outlet switch. Turn it on again. Try different power outlet. Unplug the power cable on the back of TV. Replug it in. Retry. Use the power button switch on the back left of TV push in 10 seconds. Wait. Repeat. Retry turning on. If you've exhausted these simple steps; a simple product review website isn't the place to get further help. Get an electronics specialist or Sony to look at it. No point speculating if it's the power board or worse or less. The good old E model had separate power supply. Still think that's the best thing since slice bread for a top end TV but who knows some marketing idiot or design choice idiot thinks having the power adapter module inside the TV is a better idea then a separate power adapter box; which does all the dirty work before the current gets into the TV circuit boards etc... Old XBOX had this too; and the earth 3 pin power plug type. Smartest thing Sony had; dumbest thing they did to take it away. Not the only dumbing down they did after the 9000E. Let us all know how you go mate.
Thanks a lot mate! I did the dumb steps last night before posting this. I reckon the power board is fried.. possibly due to a surge. Have contacted Sony for a resolution. Thanks heaps for the detailed response!!
I genuinely hope it's not :/ you can find some people selling circuit / power boards on eBay however try find a local electronics specialist or hobby group in places such as Facebook to maybe to test it first... sadly that's the pooper of it all with these "TOP END" tv's... dumping 2-3 grand and if you don't get extended warranty; it's a zero sum game of running the risk of a very costly repair; or sell it on and go back in for the J model etc. Good luck mate let us know how it goes!
p.s. the Australian consumer law does allow for you to kind of take the case to court but I'd normally say that if it was like after 13 14 months ...there's some provision for something like reasonable expectancy of product life/usage even out of warranty ... i keep coming across cases of people raging about some electrical product that's failed on them a few weeks/months out of warranty (what do you expect when nothing is made in Japan / Germany or even Malaysia anymore).
I am experiencing exactly the same problem at the moment Rishi. Bought the Sony KD75X9000F on the 20th Jan 2009 from Harvey Norman Springvale Superstore for $4200. It's about 4 years of moderate use and lately much lesser since we got another larger Sony TV :) last year. It stopped working two days ago with no LED indicator lights and just wouldn't power up. Tried all the dumb steps multiple times and the reset steps yesterday provided by Sony support after I contacted them but still not working. Sony has now come back and told me that it's going to cost me extra to either get it fixed or replaced with a subsidised comparable model. Feels so betrayed after putting my trust and bet on a Sony TV which I baught to replace my Samsung LED from 2009 (13 years) which was still going strong and working till I sold it last year on Facebook.
I'll update my situation as I work this out with Sony. Will be great to know the conclusion of yours mate.
Hey mate, lucky for me the tv was still under warranty. The Sony technician came and replaced the motherboard. Apparently these Sony TVs ain’t smart after all. The android updates mess with their internal systems and they power down, which is rubbish. The technician advised me to disable the tv WIFI and basically use the tv as a non-smart device. I’ve installed google chrome cast and haven’t faced any problems since. However, lesson learnt - DONOT buy Sony TVs. They’re absolutely unreliable.
Just FYI for anyone who's following this. Closure at my end...after escalating the matter directly with Sony and getting Harvey Norman involved as well Sony finally sent someone over to fix the tv for free. The technician changed the motherboard on the tv, reinstalled the softwares and had it up and going again. Been a few days now and things are looking okay so far.
I’ve got a strange issue and can’t be the first. I have exhausted Sony support With no result.
My TV work brilliantly for 6 months . I then purchase a sonos arc , and it work brilliantly for 5 more months.
Then I had one day , sound issues, no sound from ARC. EXCEPT from the Netflix app on the TV.
Reset sonos system , Sonos can see the arc and confirmed the TV is only Sending sound when the Netflix app is playing. TV , other apps no sound on the audio external speakers. Tv sound works fine if I turn my sound bar off.
Surely I’m not the first. I’ve update The software, Sony gave my a link to down load a recent update.
Any one seen this is?im not finding support great. Btw Sonos support is first class.
How much should I be paying for a 75 inch one
Is this X9000F only a 60hz monitor, and not 120 hzlike the overseas X90 or X900F?
Its called the X90F and its 120hz
What's called the X90F? Clearly not the X9000F Series. This is the question board for the X9000F, which I own, and which I can tell you only processes a computer input @ 1920 x 1080 @ 60hz even with forced resolution.
the X90F(US model name) & X9000F(Oceania model name) are one and the same and it's Native frequency is 60Hz the same as the majority of TVs. The thing that TVs do is to insert extra frames via motionflow to smooth the image particularly when panning. Sony TV's are generally considered to be the best by far at doing this. The result is you should see no shudder at all when gaming I can tell that I certainly don't see any. If you're particular with your gaming then calibrate your TV in gaming mode & /or turn on Motionflow in "Custom mode" and set [Smoothness=2, Clearness=1]
What’s the difference to the kd75x8500f please
This is far better. The main differences are that this has LED backlighting rather than edge lighting so it has deeper blacks. This TV sits somewhere between a Samsung Q8 and Q9 series while the X8500 is more a Samsung Q6 competitor
We have Foxtel do you know if this is campatible with the tv remote? Sony 75x9000f?
Thanx Dee
The Sony remote won't operate your Foxtel device, however, if you go to the main screen on your Sony TV where all the apps are, you will see "Sony Select" push the enter button on your Sony remote, this displays more apps, from here you will notice an Orange coloured "Foxtel Play" app which will allow you to view your Foxtel programmes.
I don't use Foxtel but from what I can see it looks simple enough to use.
Other than that it's a case of buying a cheap programmable remote.
Sorry I cannot help you Dee. I have Foxtel Now which I can steam from my mobile but am not connected to the original Foxtel. I think Toraneko has nailed it with their answer. It would be worth looking on a Foxtel website for a list of compatible sets, and also asking a sales rep to demonstrate Toraneko's solution on a store set.
Can we use just one remote to operate cable and tv, this is so frustrating as our old tv we just use the same remote(tv) to operate both?
Hi, it depends what make your cable TV device is. Generally each manufacturer use their own IR codes though sometimes their remotes are compatible with other devices. I checked the user manual & it says "EXT.BOX MENU Display the External Box (cable/satellite box) menu only if HDMI CEC compatible device is connected."
If your device is not compatible you will need to buy a programmable or learning remote control which are cheap & easy to setup & will control many different devices so you can control your TV & Cable device & anything else you need with a single remote.
Hope that helps.
