taken nearly 2 months, but I've learned that I didn't get a Static IP address. I was put on a CGNAT IP address. CGNAT is great if you're just streaming TV and internet content, but unacceptable if you need remote access ... even some online games won't work properly with CGNAT. So, willing to pay the extra $7.50/month, I applied for the Static IP 2 weeks ago.... I still don't have a Static IP. Very disappointing.
Southern Phone support told me my order was processed and my NBN was active, and advised me to cancel my old NBN provider. I followed their instructions — only to end up without internet for another 24–48 hours due to their misinformation. Very disappointed. drops happen multiple times per day, often during critical tasks.
Customer support is unhelpful and routine: long wait times, scripted responses, and no meaningful escalation. When I reported outages and provided evidence, I received generic troubleshooting steps I had already completed, and no timeline or plan for resolution. Refunds and service credits are difficult to obtain and rarely reflect the actual downtime experienced.
In short: the network is unstable, the advertising is deceptive, and the company’s response is inadequate. I cannot recommend this provider to anyone who depends on consistent internet for work or study.

I changed from my previous NBN provider my speed was 100/20 to Southern Phone plan at speed of 1000/50 cost the same as I was paying. But so far I haven't even got 500 mbps dl on a speed test, so is dissapointing. Show details · 4
Price is good but that's about the only positive. Speeds are slow despite being on the 1000/50(fastest) typical speeds around peak are 50 to 150mbps not the 860 they claim. that they will contact you by text msg when this occurs every 6hrs within the first 24hrs and daily after that until the issue is resolved. The only text I have received from them was days after a dropout to say the issue has been resolved. In another instance my NBN service was not available for 3 days with no communication from them. Definitely look elsewhere if you actually want to be able to use the service that your paying for.

Technical support is egregious. Both onshore and offshore agents will have you run around in circles without finding a resolution to your problem, wasting hours of your valuable time. information for me to properly setup my router which caused hours on the phone to their support and my router manufacturer for a simple setting that level 1 tech support should have known. Being they sell that exact brand of router and should be familiar with FTTP settings. Third strike, in the month I've been connected "unplanned maintenance" has left me without connection for four days, and a barely working connection for weeks. Dropouts occur multiple times a week, often for hours. Their own website doesn't work half the time because of connection errors. Save yourself the hassle of a terrible connection and the horrible support, go with a company that has good reviews over 4.

I didn't believe that they could be that bad – Speeds were very slow on all sites except the speedtest on Southern Phone's website which was odd. They overcharged me and I made multiple attempts to rectify, each time they said they would sort it out in 5-days and each time they did not. You can't email them so no record. Otherwise, - had to request them to relieve cgnat via their chat and that was totally easy. The service for me was average at best.the speeds are nowhere near what they should be. I got less than 500 on early Sunday mornings which seems unlikely to be busy time (see attached( so glass half full review from me I guess?)
EDIT: totally died on me and had failed to give me anything better than 50% of advertised speed. Support wasn't very helpful with them making you do random troubleshooting to then decide after it all failed that they were reported issues in NSW so bugger off and wait for that to clear.
Not great... I moved to leaptel who answered the phone within 90 seconds and sorted out my issue. I'm also getting 980mbps from them which is double what I was getting from Southern for just 10 more a month.
RE-EDIT: were supposed to pay me back once I cancelled but had to harrass them to get my money back. Still awaiting the payment in my bank account. Dropped them another star as really can't say this was in any way a good experience.

their livechat team for assistance, was given a blunt response of "you need to call us to figure that out" Called their "Australian team" who couldn't even spell the word Island.
All of this to then be told that they don't even offer that plan, and the sales rep couldn't explain why it was available on their website. It has been on there for at least a week but apparently is not on offer to any customers so isn't an issue with availability in my area, they just flat out don't offer the plan they are advertising.
This is enough to confirm to me have dodged a bullet by not being able to sign up with this company, will be looking elsewhere and do not recommend them based on very poor communication.
