If there is an option for -ve star, I would. The Spectra customer service is the most horrible in the world. I purchase the pump and there was problem 2 weeks later, most probably due to faulty valve/duckbill. I wrote to Spectra writing the problem, the CS representative [Name Removed] replied saying parts have to be replaced every 2-3 months,… Read more

even knowing the problem happened after 2weeks of purchase. [Name Removed] said replaceable parts are prone to damage and need to be replaced as required - which means they can provide faulty items as they wish, without taking any responsibility.

If you purchase a Spectra in Australia, just wish you are lucky and the item is problem free. Otherwise you would be stuck with a faulty pump as [Name Removed] would refuse every single warranty claim by blaming everything to the customer.

Buy a Medela!! Dealing with customer service at this company is incredibly painful. I recently bought some replacement parts for my pump, some silicone gaskets, which I have been using for the past three years without any prior issues. They were delivered quickly and all was well but within a week, the bottom of the gasket was torn, which really… Read more

affects its functionality. They all tear eventually, which is why they need to be replaced, but it normally happens after months and months of use, not after a single week. So I contacted customer service and had the misfortune of having to deal with a woman called [Name Removed]. I explained the problem, and mentioned that I had had these in the past and had been using them for three years and had never had a problem before. I suggested that there might be something wrong with the product. I got a reply to say there was no change to the product, there was nothing wrong with what they had sent and any damage was caused by my handling!! Now, how anyone could possibly leap to that conclusion when a) I have been using them without any problems for years and b) they haven’t inspected the item, is very hard to fathom. When I wrote back I was basically gaslit and told there could not possibly be a fault with the item. Really? Every single one is perfect? And they didn't even ask me to send a photo. It was just deny deny deny. Honestly, I cannot fault the pump and delivery has always been great. But I would never recommend that anybody buy from this company. The reality is that eventually, you will need parts and you’ll be forced to deal with their so-called customer service if anything goes wrong. And no one should have to endure that. It was like dealing with a belligerent teenager who simply would not listen to reason. As far as I am aware, under consumer law if somebody sells me something faulty, I am entitled to redress. So what do you do when somebody keeps denying that there is a problem? It’s shameful behaviour and completely undercuts what is otherwise a good product. Don’t reward them with your business. You’ll regret it.

This is my second journey with ebm, and instead of being an undersupplier, I have a surplus big enough that I bought an extra freezer! One of my bottle tops has been spinning and not able to be tightened since purchase. I decided to reach out and wrote an email politely asking if there's warranty as it was only 6mo. i gave them over a week and messaged on facebook. They saw my message but didnt reply again?

I saw a post in my feed from their group spectra mums so i commented asking if someone can please contact me ...they deleted my comment.

A week later i decided to email them again - asking if someone can please reply to me. Again i have not received a response which is dissapointing- it would take only a few minutes to reply..i fear what would happen if it was my actual unit faulty and they don't reply ? Extremely dissapointing to receive such unprofessional ghosting from a company. I was polite and asked for a response. They've lost me as a customer - do better.

Terrible mistake! – I purchased the S1 as it came highly recommended and wanted something stress free for my second baby. Boy was I wrong. Previous pump never had any issues with the duck valves and this time within a week of use (probably only 10 times in total as I am only pumping when necessary), one of the duck valves has a tear in it. Contacted Spectra and have… Read more

not had a response. Tried FB messenger and got ignored and left on read. Followed up on messenger and had the rudest response telling me it is not a fault but the tear is due to damage from me. It is not! They were very quick to evade responsibility and blame me. They insinuated that I am rough and should be more cautious with my pump parts. The duck valves shouldn't tear so easily even if they are supposed to have a short lifespan (only with Spectra brand. Every other brand doesn't expect you to change the valves every 2 weeks!). I should be enjoying this time with my new baby and pumping stress free instead of having to sort out a supposedly best pump on the market and their non existent customer service.

Cheap company for a high price – Pulled and used my bottle that came out of the box with my pump for the first time and it has a manufacturing fault with the teats air intake valve and milk leaking out as my baby was drinking because of it. Wish I could give 0 stars – Their customer service is appalling. My pump has a faulty battery, which we suspected, and given my stress about not being able to pump, unfortunately my husband disconnected it without my knowledge - which worked like a charm. Except now I am stuck with a pump that requires to be connected to power at all times. I contacted them prior to the… Read more

disconnection, and I received a response the day after. However that night I urgently needed to pump, and my husband was trying to help. There is no understanding towards the issue. They do not care about your pumping requirements, only that you found a temporary fix which gets them off the hook.

They will not allow me to send my pump back to be fixed. They will not send a new battery. They will do NOTHING to help me. And I cannot locate a battery similar to theirs, so I'm stuck with a dud.

My only tip - DO NOT DISCLOSE ANYTHING TO THEM. Give them very little information, and you may receive SOME help. But apparently not much given their other reviews.

Two of my friends purchased the same pump as I initially had no issues. Moving forward I will not be recommending it to anyone.

I’m a first time mum with a 3 week old and struggling with breast feeding during the night. I’ve heard amazing things about Spectra, with my midwife recommending their products. Despite the negative reviews, I decided to splurge and buy 2 of these pumps to help with my night time pumping. 1 of the pumps I purchased, works OK. The suction is… Read more

pretty good, although to really extract any milk I need it on the strongest setting. The “expression mode” barely does anything for me, and 2 of the 3 letdown modes provide little results for me either. Therefore, for me personally, quite a few of the features are wasted.

Like others have said, there are definitely design flaws. The parts of the pump don’t really click together, you just push them in and hope that it’s tightly sealed. The plastic bottle attached to the pump (where the milk goes) is very prone to fall off due to the weak seal.

They claim that the pump is quiet, but it’s actually quite loud. It’s not a massive bother to me, however if you’re expecting a discrete pump, that is not the case.

All in all, the pump isn’t a complete flop, however I feel like for the price, you could find something better.

The 2nd pump I purchased, had the smallest amount of suction even when on the strongest setting. When the pump is not applied to the breast, it sounds like it’s working fine. However when applied to the breast, it had a distinct difference in sound to my other working pump, even when on the same setting.

I spent hours trying to work out whether it was due to incorrect placement on the breast, or if I had put the parts together wrong. I ended up bringing it to my lactation consultant who confirmed this was an issue with the pump itself, and to place through a warranty claim.

When I tried to put through the claim with Spectra, [Name Removed], their customer support assistant, was adamant that this wasn’t due to a fault in the pump, and that I must be using it wrong. After back and forth emails explaining that I am, in fact, using it correctly, she refused to accept that mentioned that the pumps were individually handmade so some of them will have variances in sound. This was the first red flag for me.

She then copy and pasted links to TikTok videos on “how to use the pump correctly” and a “product review” of the pump, which is completely irrelevant to the issue I was facing.

When it was clear that [Name Removed] was not going to help me, I asked to speak to someone else. I was then finally asked to send the pump in for the technician to look over.

It is no surprise that the technician couldn’t find an issue with the pump, seeing as the issue only becomes apparent when the pump is worn on the breast. When applied to the breast, you can clearly see and hear that the suction is not working properly. You can also see the pump is not working as no milk is being expressed.

The easy thing for Spectra to do would be to replace the pump, however they have refused to do this and sent back a faulty pump which is a complete waste. I am now 1 pump short and my baby is not receiving the amount of milk he could be if I had 2 working pumps.

The customer service and support I received from [Name Removed] lacked empathy and professionalism. [Name Removed] dismissed all the issues I said I was facing, and refused to consider that the issue might have been with the product itself. She also made it clear in her emails that I was a bother to her from the start.

I want other mums to be aware of who is behind the face of Spectra. No mum should have to go through this when we’re already time poor, sleep deprived, and most likely stressed because we’re trying to figure out this whole breastfeeding/pumping thing.

I hope measures can be taken in the future to provide better customer service and support.

matters worse, Spectra’s customer service is horrendous. Despite providing all necessary details and even a video showing the issue, they rejected my return request and offered nothing but a hollow apology. I am now stuck with an expensive, useless product, and they refuse to take responsibility.

As a new mom, this has been extremely frustrating and disappointing. If a product doesn’t work as expected, a customer should have the right to return it—that’s just basic customer service. But Spectra clearly doesn’t care about their customers.

Avoid this pump at all costs. Save your money and the frustration by choosing a more reliable brand that actually stands behind their products. I wish I had never bought this.

Disappointed with defective bottle lid and bad customer service – I recently purchased Spectra breast pump with high hopes, but unfortunately, I’ve had a negative experience. The bottle and bottle lid received was defective—it either didn’t seal properly or leaked during use, making it frustrating and inconvenient. I contacted customer service hoping for a quick resolution, but the response was disappointing.… Read more

The response received was to close the lid properly. We have tried that more than 100 times to close the lid due to leakage and even sent them with the video but there has been no response after that after three follow ups. The retailer would ask us to contact the company directly as they have no say until otherwise advised by the company to them. I expected better support, especially given the importance of these products for new parents as it is heartbreaking to spill mother's milk.

At this point, I’m left with a faulty product and unresolved issues for such an expensive product. It’s disappointing that both the product quality and customer service didn’t meet expectations. I would caution others who are considering this product and suggest the company invest more in both quality control and customer support.

They clearly engage in illegal conduct in contravention of Australian Consumer Law on a regular basis. My recommendation is to stay away from this brand.

If you do end up buying from them and are reading this review after having been rejected for a warranty claim, do what I did and submit a chargeback claim with PayPal or your bank. have escalated this with WA consumer protection and even now spectra have not some to the party to respond. It's a mighty shame. Spectra pumps are amazing, the products great- to have such awful customer service and absolutely no recognition that in fact some times products are not in fact faultless, and completely disregard the fact that people pay for a product and expect it to work of which they are entitled to by law- is astounding. Spectra isn't cheap, the accessories are not cheap. To tell customers to just buy another set is not good enough. It looks like I'm at the sticky end of consumer protection where the next step is to take Spectra to court. It's pretty ridiculous over a handsfree breast cup. What's more ridiculous is the number of negative reviews here and that so many others have had that same experience as myself. What an absolute shame it would be to lose having a Spectra distributor in Australia due to such appalling customer service- if Georgies claim of Spectra Baby Australia being run by everyday mums is true, why is she continually choosing to put Spectra in a situation where other mums like myself are being walked all over and have to take action like this? The last thing anymum needs, either Spectra distributor or product consumer, is a horrible court related situation. Georgie lift your game and have a look at your legal obligations if you're going to sell stuff. I feel like I'm dealing with a 13 year old.

Without providing too much detail here, the shipping address on my order was different to my billing address, and for 24 hours the representative [Name Removed] emailed me to insist on an 'explanation' for this as it's (apparently?!) 'very unusual'.

I called again to try and explain. No answer. I provided my phone number so they could call me. They didn't call. Three attempts at phone calls and multiple emails later, I have now sought a refund through my bank.

I have no idea why I was treated as an 'unusual' case, or why wanted to make such an issue for a $32 charger that they hadn't even dispatched yet. The order was paid for by me and ordered by me; the shipping details were essentially irrelevant.

Exclusively Pumping Mothers - Look Elsewhere – This is the very first time, that I’m writing a poor review for any business. As an exclusively pumping mother, I feel like I should inform all mothers about my experience. I have purchased Spectra 9 Plus portable pump. After 3 months of usage, the pump suction reduced to none. When I contacted Spectra support team, they asked me post the… Read more

faulty pump to them, and offered to send me a loan pump. It took me 2-3 business days to receive the loan pump. Luckily I had a spare Elvie pump, otherwise there’s no way I could survive the waiting period with swollen breasts and a hungry baby.

In summary, Spectra would not replace your pump under their warranty. They will review your claim (up to 2 weeks, but generally will get back to you soon), you post your faulty pump to them, they will start repair process within 2-3 days after receiving your pump, repair can take upto 3 weeks. The whole process is very lengthy, unreliable and frustrating.

After the first repair, the suction improved, but not enough, it became worse than my Elvie pump (which is known for weak suction). On top of that, the battery died, the portable pump now has to be used with power cord plugged to the wall.

When I contacted customer service again, they asked me to repeat the same process. I’ve attached an email from them, just to demonstrate their tone when writing to customers. After reading all the reviews regarding their customer service, I think they speak louder than words.

Spectra pumps are used in some public hospitals, which means they probably don’t care about retail customers as much, since they have big commercial customers making substantial purchases.

I have ordered a pump from a different brand, which has much simpler warranty process. As my case with Spectra is still ongoing, I’m really not confident when it can be repaired, and how many times I need to re-send my pump.

For all the exclusive pumping mothers, please do yourself a favour, purchase a Medela, Philips or Tommee Tippee. You don’t deserve to go through such a frustrating experience like mine.

I have “used it” and they will not accept a return for a used product. It is a big question that how could I suppose to use the power adaptor which actually do not fit into the breast pump. I am not sure how they define as “used”. Or the customer service team has been taught to not allow for any return of the product. The worst online shopping experience I have encountered and would rather change to another brand with better customer service and after-sale service. Just to let you know customer service is as important as the product quality in order to retain customers’ loyalty. Would never buy from them anymore. It is disgusting to discuss any issues with the customer service team of this company.

Zero stars if I could! Worst customer service and sneaky trying to refuse your consumer rights! – Will start by saying, I thought these were excellent pumps before I had a problem with mine - absolutely disgusting customer service. They will try and weasel their way out of honouring your consumer rights. Just because they say something has x amount of warranty - You as the consumer have the right to expect this product to preform and work for… Read more

an acceptable amount of time. These companies get away with ripping us mums off time and time again!!

Third spectra pump I’ve bought in the last 6 years. I have been a good and loyal customer. First was an s2 that served me well and didn’t miss a beat over 2 babies, second was an s9 I bought as a portable option, and leaving me with my current s1 that I purchased last year in anticipation for my new baby who was born in November 2021. I have always been extremely happy with spectra as a whole but my latest experience has completely stained my opinion of them. Purchased the pump on sale from their authorised stockist, I knew the pump had a 2 year warranty, was prepared to forgo 6 months of it because I would probably use it a year and a half anyway before stopping breastfeeding. I didn’t expect to have any problems with it because I’ve used this pump before and was really happy with it. So it sat in a box in the nursery until our daughter was born in November. It wasn’t used until December. February my battery goes flat so I pull out the a/c charger and it won’t charge. Firstly think it’s the pump and then realise the next day that it’s the A/c adapter that no longer works. I email spectra to find out apparently the adapter only has 6 months warranty and told to buy another at jb hifi - go to jb hifi and look like an absolute idiot because the guy who works there has no idea why they would be telling me to go there as they don’t sell anything of the sort.. I have to buy one off eBay in the end and the expected delivery date is 3-4 weeks. So what? Am I supposed to not pump for 3-4 weeks because this company won’t replace a vital component of their product?? Contact their stockist who ignore me for 2 months until fair trading contact them.. then they magically respond to me the morning they received fair tradings email - and offer to replace the charger immediately because this is my consumer right. Only about 8 weeks too late. Ive had to buy another pump (Ardo are MUCH better pumps and better customer service) I’ve taken it further with the NCAT tribunal because these companies exploit us and expect that because we’re too sleep deprived and busy with our babies that we will just let it go.. Not this mama!!!! Both this company and stockist have blocked me, but I’ve got copies of all the conversations and emails and will be getting refunded through the courts because this is unjust and wrong!!!

Horrible customer service – Spectra had a 20% off sale and stated their prices will go up in May. As I needed a set of replacement parts x2 (second hand pump) I asked them what size to get. They suggested 24mm as 95% of women prefer that size and is the size that is sold with the pumps, and as I’m currently pregnant I can’t pump to measure after. Went to log in and due to… Read more

the number of people signing on, the page wouldn’t work. I tried all day. The next day I managed to sign on to find the size I want is sold out. After them advertising on their Facebook page and their event page that they will not run out of stock, and to keep persisting with the website crashing, I contacted them to see if they will honour the sale price when it comes back into stock. Well, rather than cutting to the chase, they suggested ordering 20mm, I said that id rather stick to the size that was suggested. They replied and said “almost 100% of mothers prefer 20mm…” so they changed their story. I questioned them and said they mentioned that 24mm is preferred by 95% of mothers, and they gave some short answered reply of this is what they’re now recommending. So I asked them again, if they will honour the 24mm and they kept replying saying to either get the 20mm or that they haven’t sold out of the pumps (that I already own) and get them. Anyway, they ended up blocking me on their Facebook.

I bought replacement parts through Amazon, the brand is called MayMom. I will never spend money on Spectra again due to their appalling lack of customer service. I’m not sure why they would recommend one size and then another and try and give me a false percentage.
