I bought a pair of spotters sunglasses 6 months ago and a lens popped out while putting it back in the lens shattered I was told a replacement lens was around $140 I paid $350 for these glasses originally so cheaper than new glasses now I have been told by the company that these glasses are now obsolete and no lenses are available but they can supply 1 for around $500 yes I only paid $350 to start with not a very happy customer
I bought a new set of spotter and my horrible dog chewed both arms <they are called temples apparently >. Spotters couldn't have been more helpful, they supplied new arms, free I must add, provided I paid the postage. Its the best customer service anyone could ask for, 1000% would buy again. Thanks Spotters..
Bought a pair for over $200 a few months ago from BCF. Glasses fell from my hands, something that happened to my previous mako sunglasses many times without any issue. The right lens chipped on these spotters and cracked from 1st fall. Not covered by warranty according to spotters. If sunglasses marketed as fisherman's glasses cannot cope with the odd fall they are not fit for purpose. Show details
Great product – I purchased a pair of spotters about 12 months ago. I work outdoors in dirty environments. Other brands have not held up to the challenge. Spotters on the other hand have the most durable lenses. The frame snugly fits my face. Highly recommended Show details
Buy something else – At over $300 these glasses are over priced and does not represent great value. Quality is sub standard for this price point, the lenses scratch easily and the clarity is not up to standard. After sales is a joke.
Spotters lens defect with disappointing after sales support – Until now, I have owned many pairs of Spotters sunglasses without issue. After wearing my most recently purchased pair a couple of times, I became aware of very fine and faint cracks on the outer edges of the lenses. I took photos of these cracks and notified Spotters of the issue. Spotters replied by saying that the fine cracks on the lens… Read more
peripheries can only be caused by heat cycling (extreme heating and cooling of the lens) and is not covered under warranty. I reiterated that these glasses are new, I have not exposed them to extreme heat cycling and have cared for them in the exact same manner as all of the Spotters sunglasses that I have owned over the years, which I have had no previous issues with.
Spotters continued to imply that this defect could only have been caused by me and suggested I purchase a new replacement pair from them for $220 ($30 less than I paid for the glasses at the retailer).
If this damage can only be caused by heat cycling as Spotters tells me, then it occurred prior to me purchasing the glasses and I simply failed to identify it when I purchased them. So if you are looking to buy Spotters sunglasses (which obviously I DO NOT recommend due to my one and only experience of their lack of product support) then please thoroughly inspect the lenses at the time of purchase. The “heat cycling” cracks around the periphery of the lenses can be difficult to see without close inspection.
I have since found a pair of replacement sonnies in the Maui Jim range that suit my requirements and I am urging everyone to consider their options before choosing a brand of sunglasses.
Best fishing glasses – I bought a pair of Spotters Christo 12 years ago from JV Marine. These glasses have been worn every day since, for fishing, driving and work. I noticed that the nose pads and arm pads had disintegrated, and I had somehow lost an arm logo, so called customer service to arrange for new ones. They said that arm logos and ear pads on arms were not… Read more
separately available and would need arm replacement. Nose pads were available. Today I received 2 new arms and 4 nose pads for the grand total of $10.00 - the cost of freight. Amazing service and glasses.
- +1
Best glasses I have ever brought – I had brought so many cheap pair of Sunglasses I thought I would lash out at tax time and invest in a pair of Polarized sunglasses I have had them for 10 years they are still as good as the day I brought them; well, they probably do need the arms shaped so they aren't as loose but after 10yrs I suppose we all lose some tone:). No lens scratches I… Read more
have dropped them many times on the road, sat on them, I would buy them again. Love them to bits, even wear them driving in the fog they cut out the glare, and rainy nights stopping the glare from the road and the bright lights. Thanks Spotters for this great product. BCF for supplying them.
Poorly designed garbage! – I bought the spotters thunder and they weren't too bad, apart from the lense popping out and the arms not being particularly robust and a bit wonky. The lenses were good if they managed to stay in they frames. While I was looking at other brands I tried the spotters at the local shop and the new frames are uncomfortable and a poor fit compared to… Read more
the older models and the look/feel less robust then the earlier models o.O
I did ring them to ask why their updated frames are so uncomfortable and a poor fit but the customer service is .... well they don't have any.
Have no problems from other branded glasses so far, won't buy spotters again.
Lenses failed and no after sales support – I purchased a pair of Spotters prescription polarised sunglasses and although they were quite expensive by compassion I was happy to go with them as they were put forward as a top of the range product. I used them reasonably infrequently over a 3 year period then unfortunately I noticed the lenses had delaminated within. The Optometrist sent them… Read more
back but Spotters said nothing would be done as they were out of warranty. I contacted Spotter's Administration with the hope some sort of resolution could be worked out, but unfortunately they would not consider anything that may have created a satisfactory outcome. They even disputed the fact I had a 2 year warranty despite the fact the brochure that was provided to me on purchase stated this was the case (attached). In summary, I believe a product that was supposedly at the top end of the market and quite expensive, should have lasted more than 3 years (1 year out of warranty) before failing. Secondly, their Administration was impossible to deal with resulting in no after sales support. Unfortunately my Spotters experience was most disappointing.
Best fishing sunglasses! – I've owned multiple pairs of Spotters over the years and I won't buy anything else! Their polarisation and lens tech is next level. My favourite lens is probably the Ice mirrored lens, or the carbon lens. I treat my sunglasses like absolute crap - never in a case, thrown around, trashed by the kids - and my Spotters sunglasses seem to withstand… Read more
anything. I spend a lot of time fishing and that's where Spotters sunglasses really come into their own!! I can easily spot fish on the surface that my mates can't, and I get to site cast and see the whole strike action as it happens which is all part of the fun. It's a great bonus that Spotters are aussie made, and it feels good to support local premium products.
Work glasses give better depth – I though buying spotters with the big name and big price tag they would be way better than my polarised work glasses we get for free but no better what so ever. Hand down they will last longer with glass lenses but won’t spend 300 again on them Show details
Bad quailty – Im a keen fisherman and thought buying a pair of spotters would be a great investment. Turns out the arms break very easily and lens are easy to scratch. Crap.

Meh had better for a lot less – I don't wear any form of reading glasses and have great eyes but if I wear my spotters for anymore than 30 mins I get terrible headaches and blurred vision. They actually hurt my eyes and the headache can last from 30 mins to days. When I try and read or focus on anything with them on everything is blurred I can't even tie my fishing tackle with them on as I can't see. Better off buying a set of Mako's for the $300 price of these spotters.
Absolute waste of money – These sunnies were exactly 23 days old when they fell from my head and tapped the steering wheel and one of the lenses completely shattered, Cheap and nasty crap. My 3yr old could have tapped them with his finger and they would have shattered and the people who work at spotters are rude and unhelpful just expect you to fork out more money on… Read more
their rubbish. If you want descent sunnies buy Oakley or MAKO. AVOID SPOTTERS they are Crap absolute cheap cheap cheap CRAP worst $320 ever spent
Lenses scratch easily – I purchased a pair of glass lens Spotters to support an Australian company after owning several pairs of Maui Jim’s for in excess of 2 years each. I have found spotters lenses very easily scratched. After not even 2 months, my Spotters are so scratched they are unusable. I spent extra on glass lens for there scratch resistance and while I am aware… Read more
nothing is scratch proof, these Spotters have scratched more in 2 months than my Maui Jim’s did in 2 years. When I contacted Spotters customer service, I found them very unhelpful and rude. If you are in the market for new sunglasses, look at Maui Jim's.
Not happy with Spotters! – Had them in my car for a couple of years safe in the glove box wore them about 6 times and the arm broke, turns out the frame had cracked. Done with them now will stick with cheap sunglasses as I would need to pay for a new frame, the lenses are in excellent condition and are the only part covered under warranty!
Good glasses for fishing but – Walking through coles today my right lense popped out onto the floor and smashed in two. Given that these are $275 sunglasses and less than 12 months old why dont I just return them for warranty? Well.... about six months ago while in the local sushi train my right lense popped out and I returned them to BCF who sent them away. I got a call from… Read more
BCF saying that spotters would not cover a warranty. I called spotters directly and offered a stat dec from the people I was with. They said stat decs arent worth anything... (I thought they were legally binding but anyway). After much arguing they refit a new lense. Am I going to go through all that arguing and stress.... nah. I think I learnt my lesson.. sorry Australian company. Its sad but I spend too much time on the water to have these hassles and dont need the arguments when it comes to a warranty claim... time to find a new brand...
Good lenses, plastic arms not so good – Awesome lenses, great for fishing. My only gripe is that the plastic arms have bubbled and started to peal very badly to the point where they are hard to wear for long periods now, say more than 2 hours. They start to rub the top of ears and it bloody well hurts. Will post photos when i get around to it. My tip is dont leave them in your car… Read more
on a hot day or in direct sunlight on your car dash. I think leaving them in the centre console of my car has caused this issue, ive never left them in my car in direct sunlight though
The best Aussie Glasses ever!!! – About 17 years ago when Spotters was in the old factory I had never heard of them. I was working on a job and I loved my expensive polarised ray bans. They were the best or so I thought. The customer came out and said that the driveway coating had clouding. I said that was rubbish. He handed me his glasses and I could see perfectly well there was… Read more
a problem and it was only the sun glare that was hiding the problem. I went down and bought my first pair the next day. Since then I have owned many pairs of different styles for not only myself but all my family. They make the best Christmas present ever. I have broken a few for various reasons. Mainly buying a size that was too small for my wide face. They fit well but broke at the nose due to stress. I have since become wiser and bought wider fittings. The pair I bought the other day "Freak" is the widest and biggest yet. It is really nice not having a frame in the field of view and lets in the most light and the widest angle of view possible. I have also dropped a pair of the back of my head onto a solid wooden floor. I treat my glasses like rubbish and they still last for years. I insist on glass and not polycarbonate. This is my first pair of Halide Glass Photochromatic Lenses (had to go to the website to get the spelling) It is Winter and I am loving them. I wear them all day. Just to take the rain glare off the road they blow my mind. Thank you, Spotters, for making a rocking pair of glasses.
Shattered – After 10 years of everyday use and abuse my belovered pair of spotters finaly gave up after falling off my head. This is by far the best pair of glasses i have ever owned and will be replacing this pair with a new updated pair of spotters.
love my spotters – bought a pair of spotters they are awesome recently i stood on them and broke the arms contacted spotters direct and they ship me two new arms and screws even a little screw driver. great customer service great sun glasses. i love them. thanks again :)

Okay but – I’ve had a couple of pairs of Spotters in the past, & have been relatively happy with them. However my last pair which were barely 12 months old when I accidentally broke 1 lens. I contacted Spotters direct to organise a replacement lens at my cost only to find out that my model had been discontinued, and they couldn’t supply a replacement. Very… Read more
disappointing considering I’d recently shelled out $300 for a premium product which is now redundant. The predicament made even worse after reading a few Maui Jim reviews and discovering that people are getting lenses replaced free of charge many years after purchase. Guess what brand of sunnies my next purchase was.
Excellent – Love my spotters, this is my third pair. I recently cracked the lens on my current pair due to an unfortunate event and sent them back for repair. Unfortunately i forgot to send my phone number for contact along with them. They tried numerous ways to contact me and in the end wrote a letter stating this and asked if i could contact them. 100% best support going round.
Worst Sunglasses i have ever owned – I do a lot of fishing and after having another brand of sunglasses for 2 years i thought i would go a little more up market. Well how wrong was i to pick Spotters they have been the hardest sunglasses to keep clean that i have ever owned and i managed to scratch them with in the first 2months and the a couple of months later i was kneeling down… Read more
and they dropped of my head and on to the ground approximately 2 foot and snapped right between the lenses i have never been so disappointed in a pair of sunglasses. I could probably get them replaced under warranty if i jumped up and down hard enough but i really don't want them or another pair ever again!!!!
Effective at a comparable price – I needed new sunglasses following an eye operation. After trying several brands / styles I settled on a pair of Spotters. They are comfortable, effective and compare favourably with alternative brands. Lens clarity is high. The frame is light and does not interfere with vision. I prefer glass lenses over plastic. Despite a slightly higher risk… Read more
of breakage from say dropping, the optical quality and resistance to scratches makes glass a better proposition for me. Recommended product.
Note: not all Spotters sunglasses come with glass lenses.
Best sunglasses you can buy – Spotters are the best Aussie made sunglasses you can buy, and Attention to detail is remarkable the quality and craftsmanship is second to none, they last for years. Not cheap flimsy import. Well done spotters
Terrible sunglasses – Purchased Spotters sunglasses from Bright Eyes in Hervey Bay. My husband had previously bought a pair of Spotters and said that they would be great as apparently the lenses don't get scratched. I haven't even had the glasses for a year and my son accidentally dropped them on the floor (at a short distance) a few weeks ago. The frame broke just… Read more
above one of the lenses. I have bought cheaper pairs of sunglasses (this pair cost almost $300) that have been dropped yet not broken. What a rip off! I also posted a similar comment to this on their FB page and rated their glasses one out of 5 stars. The comment was taken down the following day. The only comments they leave on their page are those that give them 5 out of 5 stars - bloody cheats as well!
