Absolute dog of a business – They lie, steal and everything takes too long. It has taken them over 3 years to close out my SMSF with them. They didn't complete any audits, my ABN was cancelled by the ATO and now I'm under investigation by the ATO because of Squirrel's malpractice. If I could afford too, I would sue them. They should be shut down. They are well known to be scammers.. Why are they allowed to trade?

Don't even consider them – Absolute worst company I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with. Examples of what you get when you sign up: - Did not receive my initial deposit for signing up and had to chase them for it - Double charged for annual tax levy and had to chase them for a refund - No proactive communication for 1.5 years that I was signed up - Had to report them to AFCA in order for them to complete the reports and returns which were late! - Massive privacy breach where clients information was leaked to unaffiliated company who then contacted customers to try and sell a 'Squirrel Rescue' deal

They lead me on for about 12 months asking for information, often the same information over and over again, and diverted my questions. I've been trying to wind up the fund for over a year and they continually deny that I've requested for them to do so so they can continue to take money from my account all the while.

Please avoid this company, don't make the same mistakes everyone else on this page has.

Absolutely scammers and incompetent! Don't do it – Was with them 2 years. Paid a bit to set up my account, they were great until they got me on the books. I wish i never used them – Used Squirrel since 2017, and during that time they have: breached the privacy of clients, accessed funds without my approval, and making things hard to wind up fund. The 18/19 return was lodged only within the last few weeks, and when i raise issues they go what issues!

Confused and lost! – I only found out what happened to this company 2 weeks ago from this link: https://www.icaresmsf.com.au/free-transfer-from-squirrel/ Squirrel finished my smsf return only up to 2017 but the new administrator I appointed last week said the 2018 has been lodged with a tax agent and auditor I never knew! What happened? So confusing!

Discusting – I’m in the same boat as everyone else. They seem to be not in business anymore. Where do we go from here ? Where do we start ? The taxation department gave me an extension on the overdue lodgements but weren’t very helpful on knowing where to go from here. Help

extension from the ATO but could not provide evidence of this (because it was a lie and they hadnt). They keep making excuses for not doing the work, and now my smsf is not complying according to the ATO due to failure of lodging tax returns and my employer has withheld payments because of this. I've now moved to another accounting firm who are getting it all done. Nothing but a headache with squirrel not to mention the lost thousands of dollars paid to them for nothing...

007 scammers – I set up my sms with these people. Accomodating at first, and then the asic overdue amounts started to appear in the mail. You tell them what the problem is and they tell you they are on to it. The overdue notifications stop for a little while and then they start a few months later. We Aussie are being ripped by all these establishments. ATO and asic. They to are complicit in the forgery.

Scammers – Completely incompetent, squirrel will set you up and take your money. That’s where it stops they will not complete any further obligations and will not answer phones and emails will bounce . How the bloody hell the ATO hasn’t shut them down is beyond me . Run from them .

Completely incompetent where it counts – Squirrel will take a monthly fee and not deliver an annual tax return. Their compliance department is slow and incompetent. Heed the warnings within these reviews, do not use this service. You will find far better administrators elsewhere!

Squirrel Alternative – Just Superfund offer affordable fixed price tax administration and unlike Squirrel dont charge until after the job has been completed. They also answer the phone and reply to emails. Highly recommend. Justsuperfund.com.au

Squirrel - are they in business? – I have had the same issues as plenty of other reviews, no submission of stat accounts etc and fees coming out and payments to ATO which not even sure were made. Emails are now bouncing back and website can't be acccesed but they are still taking fees out of account. Does anyone know how we can go about 1) getting our information from them 2) any class action going on 3) any reputable fund management they are now using to transfer.

Scammers - AVOID – These folk wont pick up the phone, won't respond to emails. Reached out to CEO on various platforms and text to understand why they are taking our money and not doing what they said they'd do. CEO absent or hiding.

After a solid day of calling their support and main line I kept getting hung up on or went straight to voicemail. The operation manager is rude and wont assist or respond to emails requesting updates. Says they dont answer phones as they are busy. Not sure if its even a legit business. Avoid.

You pay them, but they dont do anything for you – We established our fund with Squirrel - Paid $3,300 establishment fee. Then paid $110 monthly for 18 months. During this time, we received multiple late payment fees from ASIC & ATO due to them not communicating with us. This was paid by us and not them for their poor service. this time, Squirrel has not submitted a EOFY tax return claim. I have contacted them and they have disagreed and said this is the job of the new tax agent even though we paid monthly fees every month for 18 months.

I would avoid business with them as they are not customer focused at all and deflect

they don’t pass on the yearly ATO fee which you get fined for, the entire support Staff that I had resigned including the Accountant, there are plenty of other reputable companies out there for your Business, save yourself a huge headache and steer away from this shonky mob. A class action is being formed by many angry ex clients to take Squirrell to task.

receiving a lot more scam telephone calls to our private number since joining! And they do not answer their telephones, and when contact via their chatbot online, whoever replies disconnects the chat as soon as you provide a negative comment.

Not Happy. ATO contacting me and they were non-responsive – Set up process with Squirrel was good. They seemed very attentive and answered all my questions. is smoke and mirrors - they did provide access to my online SMSF accounts, however it was via Class which is commonly available in the market place.

The fees were OK, however for a little bit more you can get much more value as well as obtaining professional advice where needed. Maybe they should have spent less on Facebook and Google ads and more on good quality Australian based staff?

Are they out of business? – Happy to take your money, but don't expect and service. 6 weeks of calling and numerous emails no response. Do not take up this service and if you are unfortunately stuck in this system. Let's get together and form a class action email me [contact details removed]

Avoid! Very unprofessional! – Avoid at all costs. Terrible customer service and they don't respond to your inquiries. Things are often missed and tax refunds don't get deposited. Expensive too. These guys don't add value. Stay the hell away!

SCAM - You need to report this company – This company is SCAMMING its members, if you have been a member and not received the services you have paid for you need to lodge it with the Australian Financial Complaints Authority (AFCA) They are not a real business, they are taking you funds. The staff have fake profiles, its a scam.

Terrible Experience – I set up a SMSF with squirrel at the end of 2016, and have had issues from set up until now. I can't even get someone to return my calls or emails. as to when the 2018 tax return and annual accounts will be completed, even though it only a week from the tax office deadline. No doubt I will be hit with tax office penalties. Please do not use these people!
