Great! But wish shade was bigger – Only wish the shade was bigger! Any time we head out there is always an issue with sun or wind getting into the baby’s eyes. I have to peg down a muslin wrap every time. Is there any way to buy a seperate shade that will block more sun / wind for baby? Show details

Dread each car trip and can't wait until it goes back! – We hired this capsule (as they grow out of them quickly). We consider ourselves very lucky we didn't purchase it! PROS: Travel System Compatible: As I purchased the Steelcraft Agile Pram for regular shopping centre runs, I wanted a capsule that would click into it without waking bubs. This is pretty much the only plus for the capsule.… Read more

(Maybe I should have hired a better capsule and used some of those "adaptors" for it to fit in my Agile pram)

Lightweight:

Compared to other capsules, this one is pretty light.

CONS:

It's Hot!:

It wasn't until my little one started screaming every time I put him in the capsule, I realised it's very hot and uncomfortable for him. Don't get me wrong it's great for cold weather, but anything over 15 degrees in the day it's awful!

Dangerously Loose Installation:

We also had to call the guy back that installed it as it was difficult to install and was moving about quite a lot and I thought this was very dangerous. My car has leather seats and I thought of a solution to put a non slip mat underneath the base and this has helped greatly.

The Strap Tensions are Unpredictable:

I can't always seems to get the straps loosened at times and this can be frustrating.

General Usability is Frustrating:

The capsule feels cheap and also tips over when the baby is removed and the handle is flipped - which you need to do to get bubs out. When the top part hits the ground it's embarrassing.

No Side Impact Protection:

I am also worried about the level of protection if we were unfortunate enough to be involved in a side impact - the side protection is almost non-existent. For our next car seat we are definitely considering the side impact protection option and are prepared to pay more for it.

Difficult to Remove from Vehicle:

The grasp thing that you need to pull to remove the capsule is difficult. You need quite a bit of strength and hands of steel. Something that if you have had major surgery - I would recommend someone else does for you.

Tether Strap confusion:

My partner makes me do this as it's too confusing for him. And rightly so: it's so easy to get it in a twist and then have to undo it and do it again - All the while bubs is screaming for other reasons above.

Almost There – I've loved using this capsule for my first baby. She is 4 months old and still fits it pretty well. Her feet are just past the edge now but there is room when it's clipped into the pram for legs to hang over a bit. Handy line on the inside of the capsule to let you know when they are too long for it. Has made ducking out to the shops and… Read more

getting her in and out of the house/car so much easier especially when she's asleep and i'll be really sad when she doesn't fit it anymore and has to go forward facing in the pram. I'd say maybe 6-7 months old. A smaller baby could fit it longer but my bub is quite big.

Only issues for me are that she gets quite hot in it even without the boot cover on. Perfect for winter time but I would hate to use it in summer time. Must be the fabric or maybe how snug it is to sit in?

Also would be better if there was some kind of side clips or hooks to hold the straps open when you put the baby in. They always fall inside so I have to move her side to side to lift them back out.

She falls asleep in it at the shops a lot and will usually go up to 2 hours in it before she'll want to get out.

Bubs didn't like how snug it was to begin with but got used to it after a couple of outings and now loves going in it. Easy to use and makes outings a little easier with a small bub Bit hot for summer use and straps always fall in when putting bub in.

Fabulous while they're little! – I bought this carrier to go with my Steelcraft Strider Compact pram (which I LOVE!) on many positive recommendations from friends and it has worked really well for me with my son from birth. I ummed and ahhed about spending the extra money on a capsule when I knew it would only last 6 months and eventually decided it was worth it to make life… Read more

easier with a newborn. It has proved to be sooooooo convenient being able to strap him into the carrier in the house then carry him outside to the car already all cosy and snug (my garage is separate to my house). Its really easy to get him in and out of the carrier itself and also could not be easier securing the carrier into the base in the car. Very convenient to just lift the carrier in and out of the car if I need to duck quickly into a shop or something like that, rather than having to get him in and out of a big car seat. Really convenient and easy. I have loved it. The only problem is that now my son is only 3 months old and he has just about outgrown the infant carrier already! He is a big boy (4.3kg at birth and now about 7.6kg), but I was hoping to get a bit more use out of it. Also, my boy wasn't happy being in the carrier for more than about 20mins if we were out shopping etc with the pram as he seemed a bit squashed, so if Im out and about for a while I still have to lift him out of the carrier and put him in the bigger pram seat so he can stretch out. Ive had to do this from about 8 weeks of age. I think its still worth the money though as I'll use it with my next baby. Convenience, ease of strapping baby in the carrier and lifting the carrier in and out of the car. Great for newborns and smaller babies. Baby grows out of it quickly. All my friends babies have outgrown it by 5 months max. (3 months for me)

Lightweight, easy to use – I use this daily. I love it. I originally had a 0-8 years car seat but I didn’t like the way my daughter looked in it when she was newborn, she looked very uncomfortable as it didn’t recline much. So when she was a few weeks old I started researching capsules and found that steelcraft made one that is compatible with my steelcraft pram. Very… Read more ·  1

convenient, lightweight and easy to use.

She looks very comfy in it and will sleep in it long after we get home. My baby girl runs hot just like her dad so when she could support her neck (around 3 months) I took out the support as when I would take her out she would be dripping in sweat. I love that it’s easy to remove and wash.

I can’t recommend this enough.

Capsule – This capsule is not easy to carry especially when you have just had a baby. I couldn't carry it and had to give it away. The sunshade always falls down too. Baby did not fit very securely in capsule he was flopping around and did not look safe at all.

Cost a lot of money and is crap – It’s awkward to carry handle is too large. Very difficult to install in the car took it to the red cross who install all types and they had problems. Child fits in the capsule quite well. Has the potential to improve once baby grows and car seat can be changed to a sitting up mode.

Convenient. But gets hot – I found it convenient that it clipped straight from the car to my pram so bubs didn't get woken up each stop. Bubs was born at 2.3kg and is still in it at 6 months (has about 2cm left) she is starting to get a bit squished in there now. It was super hard to install, we ended up taking it to the fitter. It gets super hot in there as… Read more

its quite confined & the fabric is not moisture wicking.

I also don't like that the sun hood is tiny it stops pretty much zero sun hitting her.

Not sure we will use for our next one.

Makes Life With Bub Easy – We received a steelcraft stroller for our baby shower, so purchased this for the first few months. It makes getting out of the house so easy as it just clips right in! Also great for when she has sleepovers with Granny as the base is super easy to move between cars and takes about a minute to install! Show details ·  1

Makes life so much easier – My daughter loves the capsule. If I am trying to get ready and out the door when she's tired and cranky I can put her in the capsule and she will often fall asleep before we are even in the car. The capsule makes it very easy if they are asleep to move between places. I used it for short trips for nearly a year with my son (and he was big) due… Read more ·  1

to the convenience. The attachment to my pram was very easy also. The only thing is it is quite heavy once baby is in there, however I'd rather it be safe and heavy than light and flimsy!

Lifesaver! – Absolutely loved the strider capsule, perfect for when bubs falls asleep and a quick stop in at the shops. Clips so easily from car to pram. My bub didn’t out grow till about nine months, so we got good use out of it. Certainly saved our sanity for those short trips.  Show reply

This product is as good as it gets – Now when it comes to capsules, you don't want to skimp. The most common brands are MaxiCosi, Britax and Steelcraft. Seeing as Britax and Steelcraft are the same company, I can't see the difference. We chose Steelcraft based on price and that it came with the Steelcraft pram (brackets included). The carrier is easy to carry with a very secure… Read more ·  1

locking handle (3 positions: flat/stand, locked in pram and carry mode).

We had it installed by an RACV certified fitter who taught us how to detach and reattach it.

Very secure and deliberate 'click' sounds when locks are engaged.

Our child looked quite cosy in it and very secure and padded.

Overall, we are pleased with our purchase with no regrets. Aim for under $300 (written @ January 2018).

Perfect for Newborn – Wasn’t going to use a capsule to begin with, however was swayed by my sister in law. I borrowed the capsule from her and so glad I did. So easy to use and carry. We have a smaller car and it fits in but the passenger seat has to be quite forward so wouldn’t be ideal if you have a tall passenger. But in a big car you would have no issone es like that. Capsule fits into requisite pram. Overall very happy with product.  Show reply

Small make – I find that the capsule is easy to carry for the first month or so until baby starts to grow. I found it super confusing as a first time Mum to install it so I paid a professional to do it. I love that it is compatible with my pram for shopping trips. I find that it get enough airflow through it as my baby gets a super sweaty back on hot days.

Easy to use and stylish – I am using this capsule with the stroller for my first baby and he is two months old now. Can't live without it!!! – This is a godsend, so easy to use and maintain. I absolutely love that I can get the capsule in and out the car and connect it straight to my prom without waking baby up. Makes school pickups so much more easy that I'm not transferring my baby in and out the car waking him up. Easy to clean and wash and easy to install in the car. Highly recommend!!

Safe and almost perfect! – Easy to carry, nice and compact. Easy to put into base, but tricky to get out of base. Very safe and secure. But annoying to get bubs in and out of seat whilst it's attached to the base due to the belt that wraps around the capsule - you have to move the handle to the centre which jolts the capsule whilst making a loud click noise when it locks… Read more

in, then you have to detach the belt from the capsule, really is a lot of fiddling and disrupting for bubs.

Fan of Steelcraft since 2011 – We have been using Steelcraft prams since 2011 and had been using the same baby capsule since then for our first two children. The capsule is so handy for getting in and out of the car and into the buggy, it really is a great help.… Read more

Couldn't have lived without it! – My child loved the capsule and I loved it too. It was lightweight to carry and clicked into my steelcraft strider pram. It was so convenient and easy to transfer baby from car to pram, especially if she'd fallen asleep. There are 3 different strap height settings, to keep baby comfortable and secure. My daughter is small and fit perfectly in the capsule for 7 months.

Good capsule but gets a bit hot and sometimes sticky seatbelt – The capsule is overall good but a bit hot and a bit of a sticky seatbelt sometimes at the back. Looks great and feel very confident in the safety of it and it also works perfect as it fits in with our Steelcraft pram which means when bub is sleeping, no need to wake him up to transfer from one to the other.

Excellent - Good Quality – I used this capsule for all 3 of my kids, the quality is good and also the durability. I also bought the Pram and 2 bases for each card, very expensive when you purchase everything individually but ideal as you don’t need to purchase 2 seats for both cars. Would highly recommend if you have the cash but there are other seats out there for a better price

It's ok – It's a little on the heavy side, especially when bubbs is getting bigger. I only used it for a sort time. 3 months. If you have a large baby it won't be worth pulling it out. Just use it was a normal child's seat. Its small so after 6 months your baby might not fit.

So cute and cosy – I wanted a capsule instead of a bay seat straight away. I wanted to rent one but after seeing a Steelcraft baby capsule I loved it so much that I had to have it. Great product – I love this capsule as well, with my first baby I was not sure what to get, so many products on the market. This capsule is absolutely great. It is easy to carry, it is not very heavy, clips into the pram and the capsule base of the car. We had it installed into our car at the fitting station for safety reasons. My baby is snug and cozy in the capsule and likes being there and every time I put him there fall asleep straight away.  Show reply

Great, safe and easy – The Steelcraft Baby Capsule was right for us in many ways. We wanted to be able to take our baby out of the car without waking and we were able to do this easily with the Steelcraft Baby Capsule and we bought the pram that it's compatible with. It was straight forward to install and easy to use. We always felt our baby was very safe and secure. The only negative was there wasn't much padding.  Show reply
