1 John  · Oh what have you done to this Ice cream it's not even Ice Cream now , What have you done Streets ? Your quality is trashed never again from you EVER
1 jeff  · Doesn't taste like real ice cream anymore. I decided to never by any streets products again even if on special.
1 Craig B  · Thanks for ruining what once was ice cream. I'm sure once everyone knows you will see declining sales. Good work.
1 swamprat96  · Not even real ice cream anymore. Tastes like frozen margarine. Shame on you Unilever. This and magnums and gaytimes are all cr#p now thanks to you
1 smilingjack  · Its Glucose syrup. NOT ice cream. Doesnt even deserve 1 star.
1 BTBloke  · This is now officially rubbish. It's not allowed even to be called ice cream anymore and enters the realm of frozen dessert. Yuck. Destroyed an icon.

Well I never buy this icecream due it's price and today I decided to buy some from Fresh and save because it was on special for $3.99, but I made a big mistake... I should have looked at the ingredients before I bought it. This icecream use to have a creamy taste but not anymore. It's disgusting and the taste is horrible. I will go back to buying my icecream from Aldi..it is much better. No wonder it was cheap. Show details

Blue Ribbon ice cream is sickening sweet and leaves a bad, gooey aftertaste. I will never purchase this brand again. I made some fresh strawberry syrup for a dish of this ice cream and after tasting it before putting any syrup on it, I swore it all. It is cheap junk. Show details

What in the world happened to this ice cream? My family knows that Blue Ribbon vanilla ice cream has always been a favourite of mine. I hadn't had ice cream in some time, which is atypical for me, so my wife brought home some Blue Ribbon last night and, immediately, I could tell that something tasted different about it. It no longer has that… Read more

density and flavour it used to have. The mouth-feel is totally off, it feels like fat now coats your lips. No judgement if that's what you're into, but it's not my kind of thing. It's as if someone filled a blender with soft serve and xantham gum and blended for a few minutes before refreezing it.

After some searching online my suspicions were confirmed. They changed the recipe. I don't know who thought it was a good idea to change something that was basically perfect. I can only assume it was for cost-cutting reasons.

Anyway, it's not inedible so it's getting two stars. I'll finish the tub — I'm not a luunatic.

I'll just never buy Blue Ribbon ice cream again. RIP.

Blue Ribbon Icecream used to be a great product, but unfortunately has recently been changed. I can only describe it as disgusting. The picture shows how this icecream did not even melt when placed in the sink overnight! It will be going into the garbage, this morning! Such a shame that this happened to a classic product! Certainly will not be buying again! Show details

Streets Blue Ribbon ice cream reminds me of my childhood. My mum only ever bought No Frills neopolitan ice cream. My Nan and Grandpa always had the Blue Ribbon. It was the ultimate treat as a child to have Blue Ribbon at my grandparents house and that is how Blue Ribbon continued to be into my 40’s. I had the ice cream craving the other day and… Read more

bought some blue ribbon. At the time I thought this is cheap and looked over at the Bulla which was $5 more expensive but put that out of my mind thinking Streets had managed to keep their prices low in this economy. At home I went to scoop it out and my first thought was this is oddly smooth across the surface but again I was excited. I spooned it out and fed spoonfuls to my 20 month old daughter, thinking this is her first experience of ice cream and she’s eating the best! And then I tasted it myself! Immediately I knew something was wrong, the texture was weird, the flavour was non existent. What happened to that creamy, vanilla flavour that melted in your mouth?! What happened to that childhood memory?! I googled it and found these reviews. I hadn’t even noticed that the label no longer said ice cream as the packaging was still the same. My only hint was the price compared to other ice creams but I ignored that thinking Streets was keeping their memories alive for us 80’s kids who grew up eating it. I’ve thrown the tub out now. This is a pic of the tub 24hr after taking it out of the fridge to “defrost” so I could throw it away. I was confused. I let the tap run water into it to melt it and throw it away. It just kind of foamed up and stayed formed. I can’t believe we ate this. Makes me wonder if it’s still inside our stomachs unable to be digested.

I bought this recently as I'd tried cheaper vanilla ice creams recently and I wanted something with more flavor. This was about $6.50 for a 2litre tub. My first few bites of this were so disappointing. After barely 1 scoop I had to stop eating it. It had no flavour. It does not taste like vanilla. It tasted like those really bad fake creams… Read more

you get in a cake at work that you take a few bites of and realise its not worth the calories so you throw it out. I won't be buying this again.

I noticed another review said the icecream didn't melt and I found the same thing. This pick was taken after about 20 mins in a 25 degree room. Pretty sure ice cream is supposed to melt...

I noticed when I went to get it out of my freezer it said "vanilla creamy" and didn't say ice cream. If it doesn't say "ice cream" and just says "dessert" it doesn't classify as ice cream so I knew at that point it was probably not going to be good. Feel like I wasted my money. Always thought Blue Ribbon was a trusted aussie brand but seems like they aren't there to offer customers a good experience. Yuck.

Betrayed – Disgusting! From Ice Cream to Frozen Dessert. What a shame. My daughter and I ( used to ) regularly buy Blue ribbon because it was pretty good standard issue ice cream. We got a tub this week and as my daughter scooped in effortlessly she said " something's wrong". We didn't even have to taste it to realise something was different. I said look at… Read more

the pack, is it still called ice cream? She actually gasped and said OH NO! We will never buy Blue ribbon fake cream ever again!

Still good after all these years – We love this ice cream. It's so creamy and delicious. I've read a lot of reviews recently that say it's not good any more. It's hard to reconcile those reviews with what we think. We try not to buy it too often as we eat it far too quickly. The most luscious ice cream ever. Show details

PRICE HIKE UNPRECEDENTED – I love this ice cream and always have. It WAS great value @ $5.75 per 2litre tub. Suddenly - literally overnight - it's $10! Unfreakingbelieveable. How can Coles justify that? Show details

I don't buy much ice cream but wanted a quality product to impress some guests with, to accompany freshly baked danishes. Streets Blue Ribbon Vanilla Chemical Concoction was not it. I feel I was defrauded by the packaging which is similar to the previous, quality ICE CREAM product. A disgrace. Show details

I recently watched a report regarding ice cream brands to avoid as they do not use real cream and substitute with vegetable oil. I have stopped buying Streets Blue Ribbon as this brand uses vegetable oil in their ice cream products. The taste has changed for this brand. I think company execs want to cut down on spending to produce their products.… Read more

Their vanilla ice cream used to be my go-to but not anymore. It tastes like fake ice cream, slimy when it melts. DO NOT BUY STREETS ICE CREAM....they don't use real cream in their ice creams! Better brands include Golden North, Sarah Lee, Weis....avoid Streets they are foreign-owned

I was surprised at how much I liked this ice cream (Blue Ribbon (Butter Cream) Vanilla). So surprised I googled it to see what others thought. I like it far more than Coles and Aldi Vanilla Bean Ice Cream. I find the Blue Ribbon Ice Cream delicious… Read more

and creamy whereas the Coles/Aldi Ice Cream have a menthol-like taste, with Coles having the strongest taste. But there you go. That's what I think.

Follow-up  · 1. Mild (sweet) flavour intensity. No sharp, tangy flavours; 2. Possibly it melts a bit quicker than other ice-creams. Not really sure. But you don't want it to melt quickly. You want to swish it around your mouth and savour it; 3. Incredibly smooth - no icy bits. Very mouth-friendly. My rating of Vanilla Bean Ice-cream: First Place by a country… Read more

Revolting. I was so disappointed when I ate this tonight. My partner bought it thinking it was still decent ice cream but boy was he wrong. It is basically flavorless and has an odd and off putting texture. Disgusting to eat. I cannot believe they have basically decimated their product to increase their profit margins just a tiny bit more. Will never buy this again.

They changed the formula a while ago. It used to be one of my favourites. It now tastes like vegetable fat and has a horrid mouth feel. A truly awful product that I will never buy again.

Disappointed. Purchased recently after a while. Totally different taste to what I remember. It’s not even labeled ice cream anymore? Apparently streets is using cheap nasty palm oil! Yet another product we will no longer be ever buying again. Why does everything suck now? Serious question. Show details

Pretty disgraceful. I am not a big home icecream consumer so I wasn’t aware with the MAJOR negative changes and selling out of Australian brands. I purchased a tub of Blue Ribbon for my family to have with some pudding. My 4 and 7 year old wouldn’t even eat it and my husband and I continued to look at each other and say “this tastes weird and not… Read more

like ice-cream”. I recently watched a YouTube video explaining what’s happening with Australian ice-cream brands that we used to know and love. To tell you I was shocked and deeply concerned is an understatement. Buying Australian products used to mean something. Now it’s all lies. Avoid this brand at all cost.

OMG. I have a mega sweet tooth and love desert. Blue Ribbon used to be great. I purchased a tub tonight 03/01/2026. Blue Ribbon is so bad now. I will never buy it again. It is so bad, the tub is going straight into the bin.

YUCK! You ruined a once lovely, creamy ice cream. Now it's a bland horrid tasting chemical frozen muck, devoid of anything resembling actual ice cream! Where is the creaminess? Not even made with fresh MILK! Never purchasing again. Show details

Truly horrible, inedible, highly processed rubbish. It does not even have 10% cream, which is why it can’t be described / labelled ice-cream. I will never be tempted to purchase this again, so that’s a positive! Show details

What used to be nice ice cream is now the most vile crap. Replacing milk fat with vegetable oil, it's now just frozen margarine with sugar added and less yellow colouring. Tastes like it too. Will never buy it again.

Honestly, change the recipe back now. This is the worst fake garbage I have ever eaten. You can’t fake real ingredients no matter how smart you believe you are. Coconut oil? [Content Removed]??? How dare you destroy what we all love. Fire the [Name Removed] that even suggested this alteration to the original recipe. You will NOT save money. You are going to go bankrupt by doing what you have done. Show details

I’m devastated. Growing up, this was our family’s go-to luxury. After years without it, I finally gave in to a craving and bought a tub last week. Tonight, I finally grabbed myself a bowl for dessert and couldn’t even finish it. It had an awful and strange foamy texture, didn’t ‘melt’ and tasted nothing like I remembered. A quick Google search… Read more

confirmed my suspicion that the recipe has changed so much it’s no longer even classified as ice cream. Seeing so many others feel the same is no surprise. Sadly, I won’t be buying it again. Like Starburst gummy fruit lollies in Australia, Blue Ribbon Ice Cream is now just a childhood memory.
