19 Northampton Street – Overall good result, challenging circumstances living in an active renovation but Grant did all possible to make it bearable. Grant appeared stretched often and trades did not always turn up as promised or expected. Not sure if that was as a result of the building industry at the time or a gap in planning. Grant did all he could to make the build a success. Show details ·  1

Excellent Site Supervisor – Darren Holt has been our site supervisor and we are really thankful that we have him looking after the project. He is organised, knowledgeable, gives his time really generously and takes a lot of care of our house. He's making the process easy for us and communicates really well to keep us up to date. We know he's got an eye for detail too so he is making sure things are done as they should be. Show reply

Awesome Site Supervisor – Darren Holt has been our site supervisor throughout our 7-month renovation and has made the process as smooth as he could for our family. His communication, attention to detail and advice has been excellent. He has treated our house like it was his own and we feel so lucky that he has been overseeing everything. Room with a view – Our renovation started with some design enquiries with a couple of builders for a single storey renovation with a small addition to the living area. Our initial contact with Summit was with their designer Charlie who was very helpful and allowed us to visualise a design both myself and my partner were happy with. Summit took possession of the… Read more ·  1

property to commence the demolition and build in September 2021 with the advise that works should be completed by April 2022. Though this timeframe was not met, due to the many delays due to materials and trade shortages , we were able to move into the renovation after practical completion by June 2022. Russell Holyoake, our Supervisor was very accommodating to our enquiries and made time to meet throughout the build. All up we are very happy with the result and would like to thank all involved who made this happen, from Charlie, Lauren and support staff to Russell and his trades on the ground.

Stunning Summit 2nd Storey Extension – We started the process of looking at getting a second storey extension and we explored Summit as they were original builder of our house back in 2014. From the beginning to completion we have nothing but praise for Summit Homes. excellent. He listened to our every detail of what we were looking for. Charlie was ideal as they person to start us on our journey. We were kept updated at every stage of the planning, design and construction. Everyone who worked on our project were respectful and excellent tradespersons and all appeared very proud to work for Summit. Special mention to our Construction Supervisor Jason Maggs who was never a phone call or text away from any queries we had. Any problems were rectified immediately and we were constantly kept updated of when we were expecting tradesperson to arrive. The admin team were very thorough and when requested information it was done same day and pre-start process was excellent and really treated very special by everyone. Building in a boom time when trades and materials are hard to come by was overcome with minimal fuss and although schedule blew out slightly over festive break we were happy with clear communication. The finished product is absolutely amazing and looks so natural as if it has always been there. I would have no hesitation recommending Summit for your renovations as from initial design to completion was faultless and stress free. Extension pod lifted on same day and no disruption and easy to go along with our normal lives whilst works were completed under the watchful eye of construction supervisor Jason. You can tell how much Summit employees are proud of their work as senior designer Charlie Haddad even wanting to make the journey to see it's completion and genuinely proud of the finished project.

Happy with renovations! – We signed up with Summit Renovations ("Summit") to renovate our house in February 2021. We met with Summit's design consultant, Ashley Tunley, on several occasions. a 1970s house a modern look.

Work commenced in April 2021 and Adam Hamill was appointed by Summit as the construction supervisor. We were impressed with Adam's knowledge, professionalism and work ethic. His guidance, advice and going the 'extra-mile' to accommodate our requirements/requests was very much appreciated. It gave us a sense that the project was in good hands.

The renovations were completed around October 2022 and we were pleased with the final outcome. We wish to make a few observations from our experience. It would have been helpful if prior to their installation, Summit gave us an opportunity to the contract provided fitting/improvements we selected (tiles, bathroom and kitchen accessories, cabinetry, window frames, etc) virtually in the constructed space. If such a service was available we would have noticed at that stage that the washbasin for the Ensuite and the kitchen tapware supplied were not entirely suitable. In the case of the washbasin for the Ensuite, it was disproportionately small given the length of the vanity top. As to the supplied kitchen mixer tap, we would have noticed that the neck of the tap should have been longer to ensure that water from the tap flowed into the middle of the sink. Currently it is too short and results in an excessive amount of water wetting the splashback when washing up. The suggestion of revisiting selections virtually would also assist in dealing with post renovation contractors. In our case it would have assisted in our choice of flooring, paint colour schemes and the choice of window treatments.

We would stress that despite the above observations we are very happy with our renovated house and our choice of contracting with Summit to undertake the renovations.

Exceeded expectations – We have all heard about restorations and the unknown outcomes - but the team at Summit, from consultation through to hand over was top rate. During the build the construction manager Adam Hamill was easy to talk to and assisted us along the way and he must be applauded with his can do attitude. His team of contractors also made us comfortable while the build took place around us. One of the best decisions we have made. Show reply

Perfect Reno from Summit – For our reno we were looking to increase the bedrooms and living areas in our house, for our growing family. seamless join between the two... so that it became part of the original house rather than an added or new part.

We hadn’t renovated before but had built before, so we knew what we wanted, and the likely process involved. After meeting with a number of potential builders, Summit stood out as an approachable, well-known and dependable builder. This made us feel confident that we could trust them to renovate our valuable house and add an extension of comparably high quality. Their plans also came in within budget.

All the Summit team members we engaged with were excellent, attentive and delivered exactly what we had discussed. Any changes to plans were well received, discussed and implemented without issue or significant cost penalty.

The Site Supervisor (Adam Hamill) was particularly good, managed all trades well and actively engaged with us to discuss and solve every slight issue or challenge as it arose. His engagement with us made the whole process a really positive experience.

Summit were excellent throughout and the whole renovation was a really good experience, being able to realize all the aspects that we wanted to include and achieve our aim of creating more space, all within budget. Overall, an excellent experience with Summit, who have delivered a high-quality product that achieves everything we wanted it to. ... very happy!

design that converted our disjointed 3x1 into a spacious 4x2 with an open plan kitchen/living/dinning to allow us to entertain in comfort. They worked with us to add and remove things from their scope to stay within our budget. Jason Maggs was our Site Supervisor, he was easy to get along, answered all my ‘silly’ questions and did his best to explain things in layman terms to us along the way. When we did encounter the odd hiccup or delay he was honest and upfront and would do his best to keep things moving along. He managed the trades well and they respected him in return. They were mindful and considerate of the fact that we lived in the house throughout the process (that was the hardest part!!). Overall we are really happy with the final product and love the improved quality of living it offers our family. I would happily recommend Summit after the experience that we had.

We love our 'new' house – I spent a long time deciding whether to sell and move, or renovate our 1950s three by one and made the decision to renovate in 2019. It was easy to meet with Ash, he was available at times before or after my work, and because he lives in the… Read more ·  1

area he understood the council regulations and how to design a livable house within them. The design we finally settled on was the one he initially envisioned when he entered the house on the first day, and it is perfect. Ash's advice about some of the finishing and items that I could manage was spot on, he really understood me as a client, the needs of my family and the Mt Pleasant community. I signed on just prior to the building incentive program, the timing meant the brickwork and roof was done quickly and then the demand for trades meant the finishing trades were super busy and hard to get - the hold ups were well managed and some were caused by other suppliers e.g. the window company. Jason managed the demolition and build, he was easy to communicate with and always kept me up to date with the work that was being done and who to expect on site through the build. I lived in the house as the work was being done, despite being told I was 'brave' to do so. The build was arranged in two halves so that we could live in the sections that were not being worked on and the security between the two halves of the house meant we felt safe living in the home through the whole build. The trades were polite and respectful of us in our space and were friendly to me and my children. A neighbour a few houses down commented to me about how respectful the trades were about where they parked and how they spoke while on site. Whenever I called Jason about the progress or any delays, he was honest with me about the building program and would work hard to get work done for me. There were times when he came to site and stacked building materials or tidied the area himself - the trades all spoke highly of him as a team leader and would call him to discuss progress. I made several changes to the plans, e.g. taking a small wall out that we initially didn't plan and changing the front fence and gate, Jason liaised with the trades for me and arranged for these to be added to the quote and for the variation to be written. Jason arranged for lengths of cornicing to be copied and made to match the existing original cornices in the house, meaning we could keep the original bespoke trims in the house. All of the trades were spot on with their work, the bricklayer was quick, neat, and professional, the roofing carpenters worked through the heat wave in February to get the roofing timbers and tiles on, the plastering in the house is exceptional. I could not be happier with the advice I was given and the house I now live in. I built during a building and construction boom and supply interruption due to a pandemic, the process took longer than expected - but it was managed as well as it could have been. Communication with my building supervisor, Jason, was key to keeping me informed and updated about the process, he told me what I needed to know, when I needed to know it. I am glad I did what I did and would do it all again.

Don't Bother Writing to Complain – The building works were delivered well but the design stage, office communication and the engineering outcomes were appalling. The price jumped 25% at the last minute, after we were committed, but before we signed. We did not get the agreed outcomes and I wrote three detailed letters of complaint on the way through. Got nothing in return so don't bother writing to complain.  Show details

Render is falling apart – We had a second storey put on the house by Summit, it uses their Masterwall system and that is rendered. Just after 5 years I noticed that I can see the polystyrene through the render on north facing window ledges and notified Summit of this defect 10 days past the 5 year mark. 1. Summit have since created their own Dulux Acrashield technical… Read more

documentation to say that it has Fretted. 2. Admitted that they did not apply the third layer "Acrashield Advance" which is supposed to give extra protection, it was not given as an option or even explained. 3. The existing ground floor front facing part of the house was also rendered at this time and does not exhibit the same issue, ie I cant see through to the underlying brick.

I went to summit as their design was the best, and I still believe that we really love the look of the house and they are supposed to be a reputable builder. But this episode has really soured the relationship, they are just a dodgy builder. I now believe that their 25 year warranty on the construction is worthless as they will do everything to get out of fixing anything.

Job #150884 | Very professional and enjoyable build experience! – Job #150884 We have recently completed a significant renovation with Summit Home Improvements - a 1930s Deco era property with a fully renovated original front part of the home keeping Deco era elements, and new extension to the rear. and listened very closely to our vision and design brief. Charlie has a depth of knowledge and for us, who had never renovated before, assisted us greatly through the design/selection phase. Charlie was available throughout the build and remained in contact throughout the process - we think this is exceptional customer service experience for consistency, and to see a project through from design on paper to the finished product!

There was a seamless handover to Irina, the project Coordinator to progress the project from Design to pre-construction phase readiness. Irina is exceptional, professional, and communicates very well - answering all our many questions. We always felt assured things were progressing and welcomed the advice on key decisions. Irina was also available throughout the build and remained in contact throughout the process - as above, an exceptional customer service experience!

Adam was on site project supervisor and brought great experience, knowledge, and energy to the manging the build process for us. He provided timely feedback and communication updates. Always available, on site regularly overseeing the build and was always happy to talk through questions/ideas/provide answers. All of the trades we engaged (and spoke with) speak highly of Adam and their relationship with Summit. There was great teamwork with the many interactions between Irina and Adam as they seem to work seamlessly as a team - the sequencing appeared to be spot on to ensure the job progressed without delay. Every interaction left us feeling assured our build was on track and in good hands!

Overall build time exceeded expectations by months. We observed very few down days, and there was timely communication on the upcoming schedule so we knew what to expect.

Summit respect the community, we had positive feedback from both neighbours on all trades interactions about the behaviour/conduct that was to a high standard (observed and commented on by our neighbours on multiple occasions). Excellent cleanliness of site & surrounds.

Overall experience exceeded our expectations. We have already (& will) happily recommended Summit to others considering a renovation.

transformed into design features; Charlie really worked with what we had and was genuinely interested in finding cost-effective solutions. The extra time he put in was greatly appreciated.

Irina took over in the preparation phase and was superbly efficient in every sense. Communication was prompt, friendly and reassuringly clear. All questions and queries were dealt with expertly; we always felt we were in good hands.

Adam took over when we got to site and everything progressed without a hitch. He had an excellent team of friendly, efficient and reliable tradesman who produced high quality work at every turn. We valued his solution-focused approach; it helped us think clearly during the process and come up with a number of little design alterations along the way.

constant eye on what was going on. Sometimes there were no trades on site for up to 2 weeks. When I asked why I was told they were on other summit jobs.

They even managed to get an independent sign off from a quality assurance company saying house was constructed to Australian standards. I have seen better plumbing and electric works in Bali 20 years ago.

Do not believe their time frames. When it is obvious they won't finish in the timeframe they say at prestart, they will go straight back to the HIA contract which gives them a year.
