The install team went above and beyond! – Short version, if you have a steep roof request and inspection - don't rely on "the program". The sales team in the end were very helpful (at first pushy) to sort the issues, and the install team were 110% perfect! was very reassuring that they had "the program" design the system correct for the house.... Even after I had given some specific details about my property, I had suggested that there should be an inspection as the roof is steep and double story.

I took their word, this is what they do and good "program" is used by many solar companies. They quote came through, it was within the budget we had given. After many daily phone calls to make sure we were not going somewhere else (we said we would let them know by the end of the week as we had arrange ourselves with time off work) we booked and paid the deposit.

Skip some time and we get to the day before install (a week of annual leave was taken just in case of weather) after WE had called the week prior to confirm. "Sorry we don't have your inverter" it will be two weeks. Shortly after that call, we were updated to it will be done by the end of the week, we will get one shipped from Melbourne.....

I'm feeling better... We get to the Friday, install day. The install team arrive on time, polite, tidy and are happy to discuss the finer details of the system, the inverter can go in my requested location, and a full explanation of how the system will work is done before work even starts.

Except the system designed is not compatible with our steep double story roof...... Sadly the install is not taking place during the week of annual leave..... But the offer was there to do the works on a weekend, that that would be 3 weeks later. I'm ok with that.... I want it done right and safely.

Oh yeah, we can't fit the system we quoted you and the installation now requires more parts and labour. This will not do, and solution need to be sorted..... Which it was with a new salesperson.... Still not the system I was looking for, but it was explained fully, why it would work, and how my request for future expansion would work. I feel better....

Install day - Take 3.... Same installers as the first time (which made me happy, as they know what we wanted) the got straight into it, no time to waste. Making great progress... Until the storm in the afternoon halted them installing the panels (there was lightning and raining before they gave up).... Sorry about the weather, we will come out next Sunday to finish it (I'm ok with that, and it was a blessing, as the next Saturday was a massive hail storm)....

Install day - Part 2.... As per the last visits, on time and polite. The first question from the installers, is everyone ok, as the hail has destroyed every solar panel in the suburb. Second question, are you sure you want the panels installed? After a few minutes of discussion we decided to get them installed as who knows when the roof will be fixed. Third question. While we are up there did you want us to take photos of the damage so you can send it to insurance? Yes please that would be great.

We are currently saving money, and would not hesitate to get another system through Sun Solar Australia, we are wiser in what info to provide and what to install to give us what we need.
