4 BLANKETS ALL WITH THE SAME FAULT – Bought 3 of these electric blankets and one stopped working (right side) just out of warranty. Thinking that since most of the reviews were good I figured I was just unlucky, stupid me! The 2nd blanket has stopped working just inside the warranty period, exact same fault, even same side. Lots of other reviewers have had exactly the same issue,… Read more

it's a disgrace that Sumbeam continues to sell these blankets with a known fault. I guess that's just how it is now with everything being CCR [Content Removed] UPDATE : Other 2 blankets faiked with the same faults, replaced with Breville which is a far better blanket

Electric blanket just stopped working for no reason. Not happy – Have always looked after this electric blanket. Worked well for four winters, always packed away after 4 months (only) use during the winter months. Never washed it, but well aired in the sunshine, always folded the blanket away, back the way it was packed with the same folds. Took very good care of it. Suddenly stopped working only on one side.… Read more

Not the control, but the blanket itself. It a large $ purchase and very disappointing to have to spend the $ to replace with another brand. Only just out of the warranty period and not able to be replaced.

Very poor quality product – Bought this electric blanket from Appliances Direct for $154 in November 2014. Worked well initially but over the first three years we had one controller and then the other fail before the blanket itself also failed. All replaced under warranty but had to return the failed blanket with receipt to the selling retailer which was on the other side of… Read more

the city. Very inconvenient! Replacement controllers also both eventually failed but were not covered under warranty so had to buy further replacement units. Very poor quality product.

This is Blanket 5 in this series - I thought the fault had been fixed.. not so!! – After buying 4 of these Sleep Perfect blankets over the years and having every single one of them develop the same fault - one controller flashed and would not be set, so useless - I relented and bought another in April 2018 from Good Guys Mandurah WA. A couple of weeks ago - same fault - my husbands side of the bed would not heat, the light just… Read more

flashed indicating the controller was turning off. I did, as always have, perform the troubleshooting actions - checking that the blanket was connected to the controller properly, taking the plug from the wall and turning the point on and off and trying again - no go. Today I phoned the Customer Care number on the User Guide - and I got Jeffrey in the Philippines. Jeffrey has repeatedly asked for the receipt, my name, where I live, the fault, and for a photo of the controller - all of which I have supplied repeatedly. I note the User Guide states replacment guarantee for 3 years. Well, still waiting. Come on Jeffrey!!! It is winter here and we could do with a functioning blanket replacement NOW. So Sunbeam writing any reply stating "contract our service centre" thus far to me, has been absolutely useless.

Blanket is good, Control is questionable – I purchaced the blanket in July 2014,In May 2015 one of the controllers ceased to operate, I spoke with Peter at Customer Care and a replacement was sent to me straight away. Yesterday one of the controllers ceased to function, whether it was the original or the replacement I do not know. There was no flashing light just stopped functioning. The… Read more

first fault in 2015 was most likely a loose contact in the timer as it would work if turned upside down. The blanket is now well out of warranty and a new controller is in the vicinity of $65, so what is the choice, a new controller for a five year old blanket or a new blanket? if the latter what brand.

Warranty – I was told that my King fitted electric blanket BL5174 by Sunbeam Customer Service was out of warranty (response no.00694568).I used for the first time in 2018 and now the element was faulty. I am very disappointed with the product and felt that it was unfair for me. It was supplied to the shop in 2015 but it was sold to me in 2017. As I do not have my receipt I can’t get replacement for that reason. Show details

Worked perfectly for 2 years – Have never had any issues with this for just over 2 years but now it is dead on both sides, no lights no nothing and David Jones says “out of warranty” which is a shame I mean I don’t know many people who use it in summer so it could have broken months ago! I’d expect much better warranty for a higher end product like this! Show details

It was great until it stopped working just like others – 12-18 months is avg lifespan of this product. If you don't mind taking the risk because it's on clearance go for it. But if you want a blanket that will last you many winters please don't waste your money. I feel stupid knowingly having read all the reviews that talk about the controllers failing and I ignored them because my old sunbeam blanket… Read more

lasted over 10 years and I thought it wouldn't happen to me. But it did. Don't make the same mistake, don't buy sunbeam! PS sunbeam, please don't write a pat response that you appreciate the feedback and will forward to the 'xyz' team to look into - I would vomit all over my blanket. On second thoughts...

if I could give zero stars, I would – Hmmm now I see that it's discontinued...I've bought two - both were duds. The controllers on both sides stopped working after a short amount of time (months, not years!). I thought sunbeam was a quality company - unfortunately the person I spoke to on the phone was one of the rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of talking to. Wish I never… Read more

bought the second one, and won't buy another sunbeam product ever again after this experience. Considering the hefty price tag - it was only my blood that was boiling that kept me warm in the winter! Not this electric blanket.

Keeps us cozy – Bought this from target December 2016 on clearance for use this year and so glad I did. It kept me lovely and toasty in winter. It did not overheat and was firm fitting to the mattress (no sliding). It was easy to use with temp dials on both sides so he and she (or whichever combo) can choose their own temp.  Show details

Who hates winter when you have a electric blanket – I have been using electric blankets for 20 years and only stick with sunbeam. You set the temp & duration and when your ready for bed beautiful......... I've only ever had one problem when it stopped working and I called them up and with no problem at all they replaced it. Good on you sunbeam  Show details

Great Fit – We haven't had an electric blanket since childhood when they were hard and lumpy. Due to my husband becoming very unwell, he needed gentle warmth at night. Despite the air conditioning running constantly the electric blanket did the trick and has given great comfort. My only gripe is the controller is hard to read. Having a king size bed makes getting sheets etc hard to fit but this was easy and had plenty of give.  Show details

Only worked for two winters and was four times the price of a standard electric blanket!!! – Researched heavily into this product and sunbeam didn't deliver at all. The controller has broken on one side and sporadically works then dies. Never attempted to wash it and wasn't game. Really disappointed. Never buying sunbeam again!  Show details

Wouldn't be without it – Love my electric blanket, i feel the cold terribly so can not be without one through Winter. This one has 2 separate controls which i needed as my hubby doesn't even plug his side in. You can have it on for a period of 1 hour or 12 hours, i use the 12 hour option!!! It is also washable, the electrics unplug very easily from the blanket for washing. It also has the sides on it so it fits right over the sides of your mattress like a fitted sheet  Show details

Very good – Finding an electric blanket that had more than 2 stars was difficult they all seem to be the same so choosing an electric blanket was a bit of a "trial and error" for me but I decided to go with the sunbeam sleep perfect one. move under the bed, I can't feel any wires and it heats up really well and INCREDIBLY FAST!- considering your not paying hundreds and hundreds of dollars ($189 or something for a king) and you get a 3 yr warranty I think this blanket has had a bit of a tough wrap - for me, it's a good EB! :)

Good while it works – We love this under blanket while it works, but we have had three in three years. Maybe the third time we'll be lucky! Tomorrow we will start using the 3rd one when I change our sheets. The first one lasted one winter plus a couple of weeks into the next winter. Then the control broke. Still under guarantee, we got a new one from the Good Guys.… Read more

Excellent service, no questions asked!

The second blanket lasted almost the rest of the winter. Then one side of the bed failed to heat up (I was glad it was my hubby's side and not mine, hehehehe). When I took it back to the Good Guys (still under guarantee) the winter was almost over and they had sold out of these blankets. They gave me a voucher for the value of the blanket, so I had no problem coming back this month (May 2016) to use my voucher to get a new blanket.

By the time I got my new blanket this week, the price had increased from last year's price by $45 so I had to add that to get a new blanket.

Wish us luck pretty please that our blanket will last many years.

It's just SO GOOD when it works, and very discouraging when it stops working in the middle of winter!

Edited: It is now July 2018 and our blanket is still going strong!

Faulty controllers – My partner brought one of these from her work because its better quality than the cheap one we had. My controller didn't even last a winter. But she said Sunbeam give them a handful of spare controllers for when they bugger out. It is obviously a known fault from sunbeam.
